New Delhi, Apr 5 () A five-member team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) collected exhibits on Sunday from the Nizamuddin headquarters of the Tablighi Jamaat in south Delhi, which has emerged as a coronavirus hotspot in the country, officials said.According to FSL, Rohini Director Deepa Verma, members from the Cyber Forensics Unit, biology, chemistry and photo divisions visited the spot and collected exhibits.The team members were wearing Hazmat suits and were likely to be sent to home quarantine, sources said.They said the building had five floors and two basements, and several shoe racks were found inside it, adding that no electronic device was found.A Crime Branch team of the Delhi Police also visited the spot in connection with its investigation in the case.A case has been registered against Maulana Saad of the Nizamuddin headquarters of the Tablighi Jamaat under the relevant sections of the Epidemic Diseases Act and Indian Penal Code for allegedly violating government orders as regards the management of the centre with respect to social, political or religious gatherings.So far, more than 400 COVID-19 cases and about 15 deaths in the country have been found to be linked to a religious congregation held at the Nizamuddin headquarters of the Tablighi Jamaat last month.Action against foreign Tablighi Jamaat members was taken after over 2,300 activists, including 250 foreigners, were found to be living at its headquarters in Nizamuddin West last week, despite the 21-day nationwide lockdown imposed to check the spread of the coronavirus.At least 9,000 people participated in the religious congregation in Nizamuddin last month, after which many of the attendees travelled to various parts of the country. New Delhi, May 12 () Even during the coronavirus-induced lockdown across the country, teams from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Rohini are involved in visiting crime scenes ranging from the Tablighi Jamaat headquarters to various spots in northeast Delhi where communal violence recently took place.Last week, the team visited nine crime scenes in connection with the probe in nine cases of theft and arson registered at northeast Delhi's Jaffrabad during the communal riots, a statement issued by the lab said. The team had also visited Tablighi Jamaat headquarters in Nizamuddin last month, it said."In this pandemic, with due precautionary measures, crime scene teams of FSL are functional round the clock. Presently we are extending our forensic assistance to Delhi Police 24x7 and our control room is functional round the clock," said FSL director Deepa Verma.Various divisions of FSL like Biology Division have prepared reports on more than 100 investigative cases pertaining to DNA examination amid the pandemic situation, Verma said in the statement.The Chemistry Division, Ballistic Division, Fingerprint and all other experts of the laboratory have prepared reports for approximately more than 200 cases, she said.Incharge, Crime Scene Management, Sanjeev Gupta said, "Even in this crisis, we as an organisation are focusing on early action, protection and prevention (of COVID-19)". He further said, "We are concerned with our crime scene team and also closely monitoring use of these measures. In yet another case of food contamination, five samples from five different outlets of US fast food retail giant <keyword id="6376241" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="KFC">KFC</keyword> have been found to contain harmful <keyword id="52657" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="pathogens">pathogens</keyword>, <keyword id="396235" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="salmonella">salmonella</keyword> and <keyword id="101875" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="E-coli">E Coli</keyword> bacteria, reported TOI. The <keyword id="2920393" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Telangana-State-Food-Laboratory">Telangana State Food Laboratory</keyword> (SFL), which conducted the test on the request of NGO Balala Hakula Sangham, called the samples "unsafe". The US fast food giant, however, rejected the findings and denied any knowledge of the samples being collected from its outlets. The SFL is a part of the Hyderabad-based <keyword id="177658" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="Institute-of-Preventive-Medicine">Institute of Preventive Medicine</keyword>. The report, dated June 24, filed by SFL food analyst AV <keyword id="346457" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Krishna-Kumari">Krishna Kumari</keyword> said: "I am of the opinion that the samples contain E.Coli and salmonella, which are pathogens and injurious to health. It is, therefore, unsafe." 

	"We took the samples from Himayatnagar, Vidyanagar, Chikkadpally, Nacharam and ECIL X Road on June 18 and sent it to the state food laboratory the same day in packed and sealed condition in the original KFC snack box," Anuradha Rao, president of the NGO, told TOI. 
 

	KFC in turn questioned the conditions under which the samples were taken for the test. KFC further said it did not receive any intimation from any authority over the issue. 
 

	It said in a statement: "This alleged report is a case of false allegation. We have no knowledge of the sample being collected from any of our stores and in what condition it has been transported for this alleged test. This is a perishable food item meant for immediate consumption." 
 On Thursday, the NGO at a press conference quoted the report where <keyword id="2920392" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="FSL-food-analyst">FSL food analyst</keyword> AV Krishna Kumari specifically sought to clear doubts of any tampering by stating: "Sample received in sealed and labeled card box kept in brown colour paper." While the NGO sought an immediate ban on KFC products, K Balaji Raju, the designated food safety officer (DFSO) in charge of central zone of <keyword id="75378" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Greater-Hyderabad-Municipal-Corporation">Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation</keyword> (GHMC) clarified that his department cannot take action if food samples are tested independently by an NGO. 

	"Only when the food samples lifted by our department turns out to be positive in food safety lab for any contamination, it can result in an action against the defaulter from our side," he said.

OPD remained closed in the morning on Friday at AIIMS, Bathinda. "We kept OPD services closed in the morning. We will keep <keyword id="22807798" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="OPD-closed" source="keywords">OPD closed</keyword> tomorrow as well. We are getting support from the higher authorities. This is going to be a long fight. There is an attempt to demolish all the evidence at the crime site. A group of goons attacked the people carrying out the peaceful protest there," said Dr Jyotkamal at <keyword id="22807797" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="AIIMS-Bathinda" source="keywords">AIIMS Bathinda</keyword>. Another doctor, Dr Amreen called it a "heinous crime". Adding to that she said, "Everyone's heart is shaken to the core. If we can't feel secure at our workplace, where is safety then? Doctors sacrifice their entire lives and study so hard. All the senior doctors are with us. We are also holding a peaceful march in the evening today. OPD will stay closed the entire day tomorrow." Meanwhile, <keyword id="20551393" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="medical-professionals" source="keywords">medical professionals</keyword> are conducting <keyword id="20623817" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="nationwide-protests" source="keywords">nationwide protests</keyword>. As AIIMS, Delhi also continues to protest, Operation Theatre Services has been reduced by 85 per cent while the admission in the institute has been reduced by 65 per cent. According to an official status from AIIMS, it said that Emergency services and Intensive Care Units (ICUs) are functioning as normal with all residents attending to their duties. OPD has been reduced by 55 per cent, Laboratory services by 20 per cent, Radiological investigations reduced by 40 per cent and Nuclear medicine by 20 per cent As per the official status, Blood banks are functioning normally. Doctors and medical students held a protest at AIIMS Delhi on Tuesday after the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) called for a nationwide shutdown of OPD services from Tuesday in solidarity against the sexual assault and murder of a woman post-graduate trainee (PGT) doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, on August 9. Earlier today, teams from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) arrived at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata to investigate the rape and murder of a female trainee doctor. Following the Calcutta High Court order, CBI has taken over the case and has sent specialised medical and forensic teams from Delhi.

AIIMS Bathinda continues to protest against Kolkata doctor rape-murder case

Karnataka Chief Minister <keyword id="19909994" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="siddaramaiah" source="keywords">Siddaramaiah</keyword> has called a meeting of senior police officers on Saturday afternoon in connection with the blast incident that took place at Rameshwaram Cafe in <keyword id="19895037" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="bengaluru" source="keywords">Bengaluru</keyword> on Friday. At least 10 people were injured in the blast incident, and three of the injured persons are still in hospital. State Home Minister <keyword id="19946149" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="g-parameshwara" source="keywords">G Parameshwara</keyword> confirmed the meeting with the Chief Minister, saying, "We have a meeting at 1 pm, the CM will lead the meeting, higher police officers will attend the meeting regarding the blast." The home minister said that the government has constituted teams to investigate the incident and assured that the accused will be arrested soon. "We have constituted several teams. We have collected some evidence from CCTV footage. At the time of the incident, nearly 26 BMTC buses were moving that way. We have information that he came on a bus, we are checking CCTV footage of all those buses," Parameshwara said. "We will arrest the accused as soon as possible. Our teams are doing great. A timer was used for the blast, FSL team is checking it," he said. He further said that there is no information about the involvement of any particular organisation in the blast so far. "We don't have any information about which organisation has done this," he said. Parameshwara urged the opposition leaders to refrain from politicising the incident. "They are demanding resignation. In 2022, when the cooker blast incident happened, did they resign?. They keep demanding resignations for everything, we have some responsibilities. I have appealed to opposition party leaders that don't do politics on this issue," the minister said. Police have registered an FIR under sections 307, 471 of IPC and 16, 18, and section 38 of UA(P)A, and the sections 3 and 4 of the Explosive Substance Act have also been added in the FIR. Meanwhile, a team of FSL, NSG, the Bomb Disposal Squad and the Dog Squad conducted an investigation at the explosion site on Saturday morning. As many as 10 people were left injured after an explosion took place at Bengaluru's popular Rameshwaram cafe in the Whitefield area on Friday. Three persons sustained severe injuries have been admitted to Brookefield hospital, police said. Following the incident, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar and State Home Minister G Parameshwara, along with DGP Alok Mohan, visited the Bengaluru explosion site for inspection. A team of National Investigation Agency also visited the explosion site in the Whitefield area. Bengaluru Police Commissioner <keyword id="19960290" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="b-dayananda" source="keywords">B Dayananda</keyword> urged the media not to indulge with regard to the explosion. "As regards the Rameshwaram cafe incident, the investigation is in full swing. Several teams are working on different leads obtained so far. Keeping in mind the sensitivity of the case and the security concerns, the media is appealed not to indulge in speculation and cooperate," a post on Bengaluru CP's official handle X stated. The Rameshwaram Cafe is one of the popular hangouts and is usually extremely crowded during lunch hours. Bengaluru cafe blast: Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah to chair meeting with top police officials today

The UP government has given an additional 10 days to the three-member SIT investigating the alleged gang rape and killing of a 19-year-old Dalit woman in <keyword id="6390895" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="hathras">Hathras</keyword> as the "probe is not complete", a senior official said Wednesday. The special investigation team, constituted on September 30 and led by Home Secretary Bhagwan Swarup, was initially given seven days to submit its report. But the UP government later sought a CBI probe into the case and the criminal conspiracy to spread caste conflict it has suspected. On Tuesday, it told the Supreme Court it wanted an apex court-monitored CBI inquiry into the incident to ensure "no vested interests will be able to create fake, false narrative with oblique motives". "Yes...the time for submitting report for the SIT has been extended by 10 days," Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Awanish Kumar Awasthi told . Asked about the reasons for the extension, he added, "The reason is one. The probe is not complete." The Yogi Adityanath government is fighting severe criticism for its handling of the case, particularly after the local police burnt the woman's body at night without the family's approval. However, officials said the cremation was done "as per the wishes of the family". The government has claimed that some people were trying to foment caste tensions in the aftermath of the alleged rape of the woman by four "upper caste" men on September 14. Quoting an FSL report, it has denied the rape charge. Referring to "recent incidents", Chief Minister Adityanath has said that "anarchist elements" were trying to trigger communal and caste violence in the state. In an affidavit filed in the Supreme Court in response to a PIL, the government said there have been "orchestrated efforts to malign the image of government on social media by attributing baseless comments and building up a distorted narrative on the Hathras case". The woman died on September 29 of the grievous injuries she suffered during the assault. Hathras case: UP government extends time to submit SIT investigation report by 10 days

The Competition Commission of India (<keyword id="47183" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="CCI">CCI</keyword>) has granted approval to the proposed joint venture between consumer durable giant <keyword id="6367990" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Panasonic">Panasonic</keyword> Corporation, Fujitsu Limited and Development Bank of Japan. The commission had received an application for approval of the joint venture company on September 1, 2014. 
	 
	“…Considering the facts on record and the details provided in the notice given under sub-section (2) of Section 6 of the Act and assessment of the proposed combination on the basis of factors stated in sub-section (4) of Section 20 of the Act, the Commission is of the opinion that the proposed combination is not likely to have an appreciable adverse effect on competition in India and therefore, the Commission hereby approves the same under sub-section (1) of Section 31 of the Act,” stated the notice by CCI. 
	 
	It further added that Fujitsu does not have sales of logic IC products in India in the past two financial years while Panasonic sells semiconductor and logic IC products through its subsidiary, Panasonic Asia Pacific Pte Ltd, and has insignificant sales. 
	 
	“It is, therefore, observed that there is no horizontal overlap between the Parties in India. Further, as stated in the notice, there is no vertical relationship between the Parties in India. In view of the foregoing, the proposed combination is not likely to give rise to any competitive concern in India,” added the order. 
	 The new company will specialize in system large-scale integration design and development of certain logic integrated circuit (logic IC) products. The companies applied for an approval following the signing of System LSI Business Integration Agreement between Fujitsu, Fujitsu Semiconductor Limited (FSL) and Panasonic and Financing Agreement between Fujitsu, FSL, Panasonic and <keyword id="2209987" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="DBJ">DBJ</keyword>, as executed on July 31, 2014. 
	 
	According to the agreement signed by the companies, FSL, a subsidiary of the Japanese firm Fujitsu, will be contributing assets of its semiconductor business to the JV while DJB will only make an investment in the JV and will not have controlling interest in any other semiconductor company. “…As stated in the notice, Panasonic will also be contributing assets relating to its system LSI business to the JV”, said the order.

Citing a forensic science laboratory (FSL) report, ADG (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar said the cause of her death is an injury on the neck and trauma resulting due to it. "The report of the FSL has also come. It says clearly that samples did not have sperm. It makes clear that there was no rape or gang rape," Kumar said. "Even the woman in her statement to police did not mention about rape but talked about 'marpeet' (beating) only," he said. "For disturbing social harmony and create caste violence, some persons wrongly presented facts," the UP police officer said. "Police took immediate action in the case and now we will identify those who tried to disturb social harmony and create caste violence," the ADG added, stressing that people "distorted facts" in the media. Violation of Section 188 can lead to an imprisonment term up to 6 months or a fine up to 1,000 rupees. As the two Gandhi's were being taken away, Congress workers were seen blocking the road to keep the police van from leaving, which ensued in the UP police using force to clear the way. They have been taken to the Buddh International Circuit guest house. NCW seeks explanation from UP Police on urgency to cremate body of Hathras gangrape victim <ul class="inte_common"></ul>The National Commission for Women (NCW), in a statement, said it is shocked at the brutal gangrape of a 20-year-old woman in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh who died in Delhi after fighting for life for two weeks. The incident underlines the grim state of women in the society, it said. The commission said it also came across a disturbing report on police officials cremating her body in the middle of the night without the permission and presence of her family members. It has been reported that the victim's body was cremated at 2:30 am by the police without the presence of any family member. "The victim's family had reportedly appealed to the District Magistrate for taking her body home for performing the last rites, however the police went ahead with the cremation while most of her family members were away," it said. "The commission has now written to Director General of Police, Uttar Pradesh seeking an explanation on the urgency to cremate the body of the victim in the middle of the night that too in the absence of her family. NCW has asked the administration to send a reply on the same at the earliest," it said. The Uttar Pradesh government, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath must take responsibility for women safety in the state and ensure atrocities against them are stopped, she added. After Hathras, another gangrape victim dies in UP's Balrampur A 22-year-old Dalit woman died after allegedly being raped by two men in Uttar Pradesh's Balrampur district, succumbing to critical injuries on the same day as the teen from Hathras in the state who breathed her last in a Delhi hospital two weeks after she was gangraped. Both the women died on Tuesday and were cremated on Wednesday. The two men accused of assaulting the woman from Balrampur have been arrested, police said amid outrage over the death of the 19-year-old Dalit woman from Hathras. The Balrampur victim's mother told reporters on Wednesday night that the rapists broke her daughter's legs and back, a charge denied by the police. "My daughter had gone to take admission in a college on Tuesday. On her way back, three-four persons abducted her, took her to their room, gave her an injection and raped her. They later sent her back on an e-rickshaw, which dumped her outside our house. They broke her legs and back. She could not stand or talk," the woman said. Quoting the victim's family members, Balrampur Superintendent of Police (SP) Dev Ranjan Verma said the woman worked in a private firm and returned home on Tuesday in a serious condition. She looked dazed and had a cannula, medically known as Vigo and used for administering an injection or other fluids in the body, inserted in her hands. She was rushed to a nearby hospital but died on the way, the SP said. When the matter was reported to the police by the hospital, her parents alleged she was gangraped, he added. Acting on the family's complaint, police identified the accused as Shahid and Sahil and arrested them. About the mother's allegation that the woman's legs and back were broken, Verma said, "It was not confirmed in the post-mortem. We contradict this news." She was cremated on Wednesday after the post-mortem in the presence of her family members, the police said. The district magistrate and the SP, along with the mahant of the Devipatan temple, Mithilesh Nath Yogi, visited her home on Thursday morning, met the family members and condoled her death. "The family members were assured that the accused will be given a strict punishment in accordance with law. A letter sanctioning a financial assistance of Rs 6,18,450 was handed over to them by the mahant. The amount will be sent to the victim's mother's bank account by the afternoon," a statement issued here said. The mother has demanded a compensation of Rs 25 lakh and a government job for her son. "My daughter wanted to become a lawyer but she was killed. The same fate should await the culprits. We want justice. My son should be given a government job and we should get at least Rs 25 lakh as compensation," she said. Safdarjung Hospital releases autopsy The autopsy of the 19-year old victim of the Hathras gang rape reveals that she was tortured, strangled and suffered from a cervical spine injury. However, the final diagnoses does not mention rape. It reads, "Alleged post-strangulation with cervical spine injury with sepsis with cardiopulmonary arrest." Instead, ‘rape and strangulation’ have been noted under the ‘<a href="https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/hathras-gang-rape-autopsy-report-shows-victim-was-strangled-suffered-cervical-spine-injury-2303696">medical history</a>’ section. The report adds that the victim was given CPR and ‘despite all resuscitative efforts’ was declared dead at 8:55 am on Tuesday, September 27. Section 144 in Hathras, borders sealed The district administration in Hathras has imposed Section 144 in the area and has banned the entry of all 'outsiders' including media persons in Boolgarhi Village where a 19-year-old Dalit girl was gang-raped and later passed away. District Magistrate Praveen Lakshkar said that the Special Investigation Team (SIT), set up to probe the incident, has reached the village and is interacting with the family and other people to record their statements. "They do not want any disturbance and hence, all entry of outsiders has been stopped," he said. The District Magistrate further said that he had no information of Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Vadra reaching Hathras to meet the bereaved family. NHRC issues notice to Yogi government on Hathras incident The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has taken suo motu cognizance of the Hathras incident of the rape and murder of a 19-year-old Dalit girl and has issued a notice to the Yogi Adityanath government. The Commission has directed the state government to provide adequate protection to the family of the deceased, keeping in view the gravity of the matter and also the aspect of the witness protection as there is apparent rift between two communities. The government has been asked to respond to the notice within four weeks. <div type="Article" hostid="261" msid="78421883" title="Hathras rape case: NHRC directs UP government to provide adequate protection to victim's family" mstype="2" mssubtype="0"></div> 80 people detained over Hathras gangrape protest Delhi Police on Wednesday detained at least 80 persons who staged a protest over the Hathras gangrape case. This includes 36 men and 44 women. "Today around 11.30 pm, members of different parties - AIDWA, DSDU, AISA AIMSS - tried to reach UP Bhawan, SP Marg to stage a protest demanding harsh punishment for accused persons in Hathras gangrape case. We have detained 80 people in this connection," said a senior police officer. Police said that as the protestors have violated order u/s 144 CrPC in force and other laws regarding Covid-19, FIR u/s 188 IPC, 3 Epidemic Act &amp; 51(b) Disaster Management Act, PS Chanakyapuri has been registered against the protesters. Yogi announces ₹ 25 lakh aid for victim’s family Amid an uproar over the cremation of the body of a Dalit gang-rape victim early on Wednesday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath spoke to the 19-year-old woman's father in Hathras district and offered his condolences. He also announced a compensation of ₹ 25 lakh to the bereaved family, apart from a job to one of its members. The family would also be given a house. The victim's father sought the harshest punishment for the four accused arrested for the crime reported on September 14. Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Avanish Awasthi said that the Chief Minister assured the woman's father of the most stringent action against the culprits and all possible help to the family. Yogi sets up SIT to probe Hathras incident The Yogi Adityanath government on Wednesday set up a Special investigation Team (SIT) to probe the Hathras incident. The SIT, according to official sources, will comprise home secretary Bhagwan Swaroop, DIG Chandra Prakash and IPS officer Poonam. The SIT will submit its report at the earliest. The Chief Minister, sources said, has decided to send the case to a fast track court in order to ensure justice to the victim. All four accused have already been arrested. PIL filed in Supreme Court seeking CBI probe in Hathras gang-rape and murder A PIL was filed in the Supreme Court on Wednesday seeking a CBI probe or SIT investigation under a sitting or former Supreme Court or High Court judge in the gruesome gang-rape and murder of a 19-year-old Dalit woman in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras district. The PIL has been filed by social activist Satyama Dubey and advocates Vishal Thakre and Rudra Pratap Yadav. The petitioners urged the apex court to pass appropriate order for a fair investigation - either by the CBI or the SIT under a sitting or retired judge of Supreme Court or High Court - and transfer the case to Delhi, as Uttar Pradesh authorities had failed to take certain actions against the accused. The plea said the victim was first raped and then brutally assaulted, and according to a medical report, her tongue was chopped and her neck and back bones broken by the accused, who belonged to an upper caste. The victim succumbed to her injuries at Safdarjung hospital in Delhi. The petitioner said on September 14, the accused persons raped and brutally assaulted the victim when she was in the fields to collect fodder for her cattle. It also said that the police have said the victim's cremation was being carried out as per the wishes of the family, which was not true, and the police personnel set fire to the body of the deceased, even as media persons were banned, as per the information received, said the plea. The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) on Wednesday also wrote to Chief Justice of India (CJI) SA Bobde to urge the Supreme Court to take suo motu cognisance of the gruesome gang rape and murder of a Dalit woman in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras district. Hathras victim cremated, police denies coercion The 19-year-old Dalit woman from Hathra was cremated early Wednesday in her village amid tight security. "The police have forcibly taken the dead body, and my father along with them for cremation. When my father reached Hathras, he was immediately taken (to the crematorium) by the police," the victim's brother told the media. However, Hathras police have denied the charges and has issued a notice saying the coercion being talked about on social media is canard. It said: "The family cremated the body with due rituals under the supervision of police and administration." The victim, who was paralyzed after being allegedly dragged on the field by her attackers on September 14, died at the Safdarjung Hospital on Tuesday after battling for life for a fortnight. Her mortal remains reached the Boolgarhi village around midnight and the cremation was done at 3 a.m. There was tension as the victim's mortal remains reached the village and people tried to block the ambulance from moving ahead. Superintendent of Police (SP) Vikrant Veer denied any 'urgency' by the police in holding the cremation at night even though cremations do not normally take place after sunset. He added that the cremation was done by the family as usual after the body reached Boolgarhi village. The SP claimed that the situation is calm in the village, but heavy police force has been deployed. The woman was allegedly raped in a Hathras village by four men, who were later taken into custody. Initially she was rushed to the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital in Aligarh, but on Monday night had to be shifted to the Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi after her condition deteriorated. Outrage over Hathras gang rape case intensifies with protests across the country

<div class="KonaFilter image-container float_right"><div class="image on-image"></div></div>A new report released this week from the University of Oregon <a href="http://senate.uoregon.edu/sites/senate.uoregon.edu/files/2014_10_22%20Senate%20Task%20Force%20Report%20Rev18.pdf">found that the school's sexual assault problem may be due to the nature of its Greek system</a>.
According to the report, an increasing number of UO students are joining fraternities and sororities, with more houses currently planned to arrive on campus. One recommendation from the sexual assault task force that compiled this report is to halt this growth, calling the expansion "irresponsible."
"We cannot ignore the fact that, despite the relatively small number of students directly involved in their activities, Athletics and Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) play disproportionately powerful roles in facilitating or tolerating conditions in which sexual violence occurs on campus," the report states.
A campus-wide sexual assault survey released earlier this month found that male OU Greeks were 3.5 times and female OU Greeks were nearly two times more likely than non-Greeks to have experienced some form of non-consensual sexual contact.
Put another way, <a href="http://dailyemerald.com/2014/10/16/sexual-assault-more-prevalent-in-fraternities-sororities-oregon/">as student newspaper The Daily Emerald writes</a>, "48.1% of females and 23.6% of males in Fraternity and Sorority Life have experienced non-consensual sexual contact. Females not in FSL reported 33.1%, and male 7.9%."
Additionally, according to the survey, Greek women "were 3.4 times more likely than their non-Greek counterparts to have experienced an attempted or completed rape."
The report quotes a recent interview with Oklahoma State University professor John Foubert - a college sexual assault researcher - <a href="http://www.cnn.com/2013/10/09/opinion/foubert-fraternities-rape/index.html">who says about his research</a>:
Before they got to college, fraternity men were no different from other male students. They committed the same number of incidents of sexual assaults before college. But here's the difference. Guys who joined a fraternity then committed three times as many sexual assaults as those who didn't join. It is reasonable to conclude that fraternities turn men into guys more likely to rape.
It remains to be seen what decisions the UO administration will make about the future of the university's Greek system.

It relies heavily on familial anecdotes, such as no one eating Hingston's mother's potato salad and her women-and-gender-majoring daughter's hatred of mayonnaise. There is even an interlude about 23andme and how&#xa0;<a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/food/wp/2017/10/12/another-publisher-is-in-hot-water-for-food-shaming-trendy-ingredients-from-other-cultures/?utm_term=.9cd8f35db488">certain foods are treated as more exotic than others</a>.Here at Business Insider, we are concerned with one issue and one issue only: Did millennials actually kill mayonnaise?&#xa0;In addition to her own family's shift away from mayo, Hingston mostly relies on headlines as evidence. Good Morning! Much of the overnight enthusiasm is wearing off as EU/US traders' man their desks. We had a Wall at 1800 in the e-minis pre-market, and it's hard to image a break above prior to the FOMC announcement at 2pm today. Right now E-Minis are off slightly, while Nasdaq is slightly higher as AAPL tries to recover from yesterday. Focus on Turkey, where the Lira has given up a chunk of it's gains, but remains near 2week highs against the $. Turkey's equity market saw it's bid evaporate as well, after being up 3% early, is now 1% underwater. The DAX just bounced off unchanged, and the EU fins remain well bid, up 60bp. Volumes have been decent overseas, with major EU/UK markets trading 10-30% above their normal trend. In Asia, the Nikkei leapt 2.7% as the Yen dropped (Futures adding another 50bp), while the Sensex slipped red on profit taking after yesterday's jump. Ahead of the Fed, my focus will be on the Lira$ and Real$ crosses - if they start getting hit we could lose much of yesterday's gains - WSJ reports Last year the S&amp;P 500 dropped during five of the eight days the Fed concluded a meeting, a surprisingly consistent outlier during the market's record-breaking rally.. The 10YY in the US is up small, and continues to consolidate around it's 100dma. Stress remains in the Treasury Bills expiring post debt-ceiling; with March maturities still yielding 10bp over Jan's. The DXY is slightly lower, gaining against the € but losing ground to the Yen. We do have a bid to metals, specifically Industrial one like Silver and Copper as China's default risk fades into the sunset (for now) - while Gold is jumping 1% as it has bounced a few days off the $1250 level. Nat gas is trekking 2% higher, while WTI is under pressure on a large inventory build in API data last night. While the highlight of the day will be the FOMC at2pm (No presser) - we have DOE data on Crude at 10:30 (looking for a 2.2mln increase), there is NO POMO today at 11, a early Treasury auction of floaters at 11:30, and New Zealand announces on rates tonight at 5. Many will have there eyes on China's official PMI overnight, as the "flash" PMI spooked traders last week.
