New Delhi, Mar 3 () Automobile maker FCA India on Tuesday launched its Jeep Wrangler Rubicon SUV model priced at Rs 68.94 lakh (all-India price). The deliveries of the imported four-wheel drive, five-door SUV will begin on March 15, 2020, the company said in a statement. Commenting on the launch, FCA India President and Managing Director Partha Datta said, "we already have an unprecedented order bank of eager customers ready to purchase our iconic off-roader. We are poised to complete delivery of our entire Rubicon import shipment to customers sooner than anticipated. Jeep Wrangler has been a really successful flagship product for us in India and it commands almost 67 per cent our India CBU (completely built unit) sales, since its launch in 2016." The Wrangler Rubicon is powered by a four-cylinder, turbocharged two-litre petrol engine, which delivers power of 268 hp, matched to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Some of its safety features include driver and front passenger airbags, supplementary seat-mounted passenger side airbags, park assist system, rear back up camera, electronic stability control and trailer sway control, anti-lock braking system, hill start assist, hill descent control, electronic roll mitigation and tyre pressure monitoring, the company said. FCA India launches Jeep Wrangler Rubicon at Rs 68.94 lakh

New Delhi, Jan 14 () Auto-maker FCA India on Tuesday launched two variants of its sports utility vehicle Jeep Compass priced up to Rs 24.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
The two variants -- Longitude and Limited Plus -- with all wheel drive (AWD 4x4) configuration powered by the locally manufactured BSVI-compliant 2 litre 173 HP turbo-diesel engine.
The new trims also come with nine-speed automatic transmission.
The Jeep Compass 4x4 Longitude 9AT is priced at Rs 21.96 lakh, while the Limited Plus trim is tagged at Rs 24.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
"We are strengthening and expanding the Jeep Compass range with the introduction of four diesel automatic variants, of which, the base and top-end variant will available to consumers right away," FCA India President and Managing Director Partha Datta said in a statement.
Both variants offer more equipment, boosting the value-for-money proposition for the customer, which the company believes will increase its share in the segment, he added.
"This roll out has also given us the opportunity to offer our locally-made BSVI-compliant 2.0-litre turbo-diesel powertrain to consumers much before the statutory deadline," Datta said.
The Longitude version comes with standard features such as 17-inch alloys, safety aids such as anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic stability control (ESC), traction control (TC), hill start assist (HSA), disc brakes on all four wheels, among others.
The top-of-the-line Limited Plus trim comes with sun roof, auto headlamps, rain sensitive wipers, six airbags and 18-inch alloy wheels. MSS

FCA India expands Jeep Compass range, drives in diesel automatic trims

Mumbai, Feb 23 () FCA India, which had a runaway success with its sole locally made SUV Jeep Compass launched in July 2017 but has tapered off the momentum since then, is "very serious with its operations here" and will produce two-three models from the Ranjangaon facility near Pune, Maharashtra, from next year. The American company will also shortly bring its iconic brand Wrangler Rubicon to the domestic market as early as this quarter, a top company official has said. Playing on the pricing side and technology, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles had launched its fully-locally made Jeep Compass in July 2017 with a starting price of Rs 14.95 lakh, and the vehicle became so popular that within 10 months, the company recovered its investment of USD 250 million from Jeep sales, a first for any foreign auto brand here and especially for an American brand as both their other US brands GM and Ford have failed miserably twice here. Today, over 50,000 Jeep Compasses are plying on roads, while the company has also shipped as many as 17,000 units to around 15 key right-hand drive markets, including Britain, Japan and Australia. "We are very serious with our operations here. We consider the current fall in the volume as a blip and we are very sure it will pass. The headquarters are very happy with us. We have had a huge success and are sure to repeat it again here," Datta told in an interview. On the need for more models, which is critical for the volume game, Datta said, "We fully understand to be more successful we need more models which, so far, we could not have. So, beginning next year, we will have more than two more Jeep models being rolled out from the Ranjangaon facility." FCA has seen its volume plunge by around 30 per cent from its 2018 peak, as consumers have been in a wait-and-watch mode for almost two years now due to the rash of regulatory changes on one hand, and banks and NBFCs have been keeping away from the market for too long now. The USD 3-million industry, primarily entry models-driven, as a whole has seen the volume plunge almost 9 per cent so far this year. Despite the drop, they are still selling 900-1,000 units a month, he added, and so is exports. Whether the company will look at rolling in any luxury hatchbacks and sedans here, Datta answered in the negative saying they "want to be an SUV-only brand in the foreseeable future", as he believes that the future of premium SUVs is bright here. "We are committed to stay in India for long and we are looking at every spoke in the wheel to ensure we are successful again and the headquarters is willing to invest hundreds of millions of dollars more to build our business here," said Datta, who took over the India operations last September, and an FCA veteran having spent over two decades at its global operations. Apart from launching more models, FCA is also widening its reach, which is 17 full-fledged sales centres and 80 mini centres now, he said adding that another area they are working on building the brand is focusing on merchandise and accessories. On bringing in Wrangler Rubicon, which will be priced upwards of Rs 72 lakh, he said, "The demand for the iconic Rubicon is so high that we are already sold out for months." From its CBU (completely built units) stable, the Jeep Wrangler has been the best-seller among all accounting for 67 per cent of the volume, since its entry into the domestic market in August 2016. On the transition to BS-VI, Datta said that as of the first week of February, the entire range of the Jeep Compass has been moved to the new emission norms and that they have no inventory issue with the BS-IV models at all. The BS-VI Compass comes at a higher price tag of 5-7 per cent or Rs 25,000-1,10,000 depending on the model, he said. In June 2019, FCA rolled out the first BS-VI powertrain for both its petrol and diesel variants. Currently, the demand is more for diesel AMT (automatic manual transmission) models. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Group has been around the globe for the past seven decades, designing, engineering, manufacturing and selling brands like the Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Fiat Professional, Jeep, Lancia, Ram, and SRT and the luxury Maserati. FCA to roll out 2-3 more Jeep models locally from next year

<keyword id="2036510" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Fiat-Chrysler-Automobiles">Fiat Chrysler Automobiles</keyword> (FCA) has brought the <keyword id="161559" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="jeep">Jeep</keyword> brand to India with the launch of two SUV models -- Wrangler and Grand Cherokee, priced at Rs 71.59 lakh, and between Rs 93.64 lakhs and Rs 1.12 crore (ex-showroom price, Delhi), respectively. 
 
The Grand Cherokee will be available in three variants, the 3-litre, 8-speed diesel version Limited (Rs 93.64 lakh), the 3-litre diesel powered Summit (Rs 1.03 crore) and the Grand Cherokee SRT (Rs 1.12 crore). 
 
The Italian carmaker has also announced that it has plans to start producing in India at its Ranjangoan plant in Pune from the second quarter of next year. 
 
By tyhe end of this year, FCA will be opening 10 dealerships under the Jeep Destination Store brand in nine Indian cities; while the first outlet is already opened in Ahmedabad, the outlets in New Delhi and Chennai will be operational from next month. October would see the opening of the Mumbai outlet, and a second one in New Delhi, followed by outlets in Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Kochi and Bengaluru. 
 
On buying the SUVs, FCA will be offering two-years of unlimited mileage warranty along with a host of other services under the 'Jeep Assist' feature, offering a 24x7 helpline and roadside assistance programme for two years. They would also be offering a business class air ticket or a hotel stay in case of accidents and breakdowns. 
 
"Come the second quarter of 2017, we will have these iconic models, which are imported as of now as completely built units, being manufactured at our Ranjangoan plant, which has around 2 lakh capacity, most of which is being used by Fiat now," said FCA India president and MD Kevin Flynn.

FCA brings Jeep to India, two models launched

The iconic American SUV brand Jeep is all set to make its debut on the Indian roads in August this year and that too with a locally-made model. The vehicle would most likely be priced around Rs 15-16 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The new models are a part of Jeep's strategy to dive deep into high-potential markets of India, Brazil, and China. The vehicle, christened Compass off-roader (available in 1400cc petrol engine and 2,000cc diesel) will be made at the company's plant located at Ranjangaon in Pune, will later be followed up with a smaller SUV Renegade, priced around Rs 10 lakh. Jeep, which is a part of Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles (<keyword id="295132" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="FCA">FCA</keyword>) group, is popular across the globe as one of the most exciting SUV brands, and as it is set to enter India, it’d add fuel to the already competitive auto market in the country. <keyword id="490012" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Kevin-Flynn">Kevin Flynn</keyword>, president and MD of FCA India, said that they have made India a manufacturing hub for right-hand drive markets, including South Africa, UK and Australia. "It was a strategic decision to bring the Compass to India," Flynn told TOI. Talking of the vehicle, Compass has a length of 4,395 mm and has a maximum power of 170 BHP with the diesel engine. It will come with manual and automatic transmissions, 4X4 versions, and would most likely be priced between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 23 lakh (for the top-end). Jeep might onset a price war in India’s premium SUVs segment

<keyword id="2036510" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Fiat-Chrysler-Automobiles">Fiat Chrysler Automobiles</keyword> (<keyword id="295132" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="FCA">FCA</keyword>), world’s seventh largest automaker, has launched its ‘Made in India’ model <keyword id="792542" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Jeep-Compass">Jeep Compass</keyword>, and is relying on it to turnaround its presence in the Indian car market, where it doesn’t enjoy a much significant space.

Jeep Compass is to be launched in July, and the company is expected to initiate the serial production in June. Codenamed 526, the vehicle will remind one of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/transportation/cars/10-things-about-the-HyundaiCreta-you-didnt-know/articleshow/48161065.cms">Hyundai Creta</a> and <keyword id="891812" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Renault-Duster">Renault Duster</keyword>. 
 
"We are at a cusp of a turnaround for the company with the roll out of locally manufactured Jeep. FCA will be manufacturing the Jeep Compass, codenamed '556, at its Ranjangaon plant near Pune in Maharashtra. The vehicles made out of this plant will get exported to some of the most demanding markets of the world, which include Japan, UK, Australia, and South Africa. 
 
For Compass’s production along with the manufacture of Tata Motors Nexon SUV, Fiat India will be hiring an additional manpower of about 1000 personnel in the coming year. 
 
Talking of the SUV, 556 will be powered by 1.4 litre multi air petrol and 2 litre diesel engines, making it the safest SUV with 50 active and passive features in India, as per company claims.

It is determined to increase its locally-made componentry in vehicles produced in its joint venture manufacturing facility. “Our plans in India are aimed at increasing the value proposition for customers through our products and services, working hard on customer satisfaction and unlocking business opportunities for our business partners,” FCA India Managing Director, Dr Partha Datta said. The all-new local vehicle line-up includes the 2021 made-in-India Jeep Compass, a locally produced and global-first three-row Jeep SUV, as well as the iconic Jeep Wrangler and next-generation Grand Cherokee flagship, which will both be locally assembled in FCA’s joint venture manufacturing facility in Ranjangaon. The company’s Jeep brand made its debut in India in 2016 and carved a premium position in India. Fiat is now planning to unveil the 2021 Jeep Compass in India on January 7, and production has already commenced. The luxury seven-seat mid-size Jeep, codenamed H6, will be launched in 2022.
