On X, <keyword id="22779969" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="FAIMA-Doctors" source="keywords">FAIMA Doctors</keyword> Association announced, "We had a meeting with all the associated RDAs Pan India. Matter is not solved yet. @AmitShahOffice ji @JPNadda ji our demand is Central protection for HCW. Strike to be continued tomorrow. We are standing with you all, our dear Residents." Apart from that, the resident doctors at Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) also decided to continue the ongoing strike until all the demands put forth by the association are fully met and provided in writing. The decision was announced by BMC (MARD) to condemn the brutal rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee doctor. The statement released by BMC MARD said, "We the office bearers of BMC MARD convened a meeting, and have decided that the ongoing strike will continue until all the demands put forth by the association are fully met and provided in writing. The decision to persist with the strike is firm, and no actions will be taken to end it until our demands are addressed satisfactorily." The incident that took place on August 9, has sparked widespread outrage and led to protests within and beyond the medical community. Meanwhile, on Tuesday, doctors of Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College Hospital (ANMMC), the largest government hospital in South Bihar, held a protest following the incident. The doctors also sat on strike in front of the ANMMC hospital's superintendent with a placard in their hands. Visuals emerged where the doctors were seen holding placards in their hands and demanded justice. Similarly, Resident doctors of the Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) staged a protest on Tuesday against the incident. Speaking to ANI, Dr Himanshu of the psychiatric department said that the doctors have put forward only three demands. He further added that all OPDs in the hospitals were closed during the protest, however, emergency services were open for the patients. "We have only three demands. The culprit should be immediately punished. There should be a central Act for all the residents' doctors and their protection inside the hospital," he said.

Patient services in hospitals across Delhi have been severely affected by the protest. Last Tuesday, the Supreme Court took suo motu cognisance of the rape and murder case in Kolkata and constituted a 10-member <keyword id="19941736" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="National-Task-Force" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="National Task Force" meta.hostid="83" meta.entityid="National Task Force">National Task Force</keyword> (NTF) to formulate a protocol for ensuring the safety and security of doctors and other healthcare professionals. The 10-member task force headed by Vice Admiral <keyword id="22873632" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="arti-sarin" source="keywords">Arti Sarin</keyword> has been asked to submit its interim report within three weeks. However, some doctors' associations expressed dissatisfaction with the composition of the task force. "We don't understand the basis for selecting the task force members. There should have been representation from resident doctors, which is what we have been advocating for. "Additionally, there should be representation from professors of government medical colleges as acts of violence are predominantly observed in government hospitals, not in private facilities," an official of the doctors' body said. Meanwhile, the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) has moved the Supreme Court seeking interim protection for doctors till the recommendations of the NTF are implemented. Seeking intervention in the ongoing proceedings before the apex court, the plea contended that doctors have often been subjected to alleged instances of violence and threats to their safety and security. "It is of utmost importance that there is adequate representation from resident doctors since they are experiencing real-time problems on a routine basis and may be in a position to offer a real-time solution to these problems. "Involvement of resident doctors will ensure that comprehensive guidelines are formed after holistic discussion with all stakeholders," the plea said while also seeking implementation of the Central Protection Act for the safety and security of the doctors. The plea has sought the installation of <keyword id="19997866" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="CCTV-cameras" source="keywords">CCTV cameras</keyword> in all sensitive areas, including hospital and hostel entrance and exit gates and the corridor areas. Among the key demands in the petition is the installation of CCTVs, strict compliance to the provisions of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, setting up a round-the-clock distress call facility to provide immediate assistance to healthcare workers in emergency situations.

"Around 200 doctors have joined the agitation and senior resident doctors have also supported our stir.
