According to the ED, all due procedures as per law were followed during the said operations at each premises but employees of Vivo India, including some Chinese nationals did not cooperate with the search proceedings and had tried to abscond, remove and hide digital devices which were retrieved by the search teams. Vivo needs to follow the law of the land, says external affairs ministry

<ul><li>The Ministry of External Affairs every year organises internship opportunities of six months in two terms.</li><li>Due to COVID-19 pandemic, the online application for Term 2 has not opened yet, and the ministry will soon announce the dates.</li><li>The ministry will select 30 interns with a monthly stipend of ₹10,000 per month.</li></ul>The Ministry of External Affairs (<keyword id="6358274" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="MEA" source="Orion">MEA</keyword>) every year organises an internship opportunity for budding scholars to familiarise themselves with the process of formulation of foreign policy and its implementation by the Government of India. The duration of the internship is six months offered in two terms -- Term 1 (January to June) and Term 2 (July to December). Due to COVID-19 pandemic, the online application for Term 2 has not opened yet, and the ministry will soon announce the dates. Interested candidates can keep a check on their <a href="https://www.internship.mea.gov.in/">official website</a>. The ministry will select 30 interns and they shall report to, work under close supervision of the concerned head of division (HOD). They may be required to conduct research, write reports, analyse evolving developments, or carry out any other task entrusted to them by the HOD. All the interns will get a monthly stipend of ₹10,000 per month. Candidates will have to report to the Delhi office during the course of their internship. The ministry will bear the travel cost for outstation candidates who will have to fly to Delhi from their home state. Eligibility criteria for the internship — 1. All the candidates should be an Indian citizen. 2. The maximum age limit for the candidates is 25 years as on December 31, of the year of the internship. 3. Candidates should have a minimum educational qualification of a graduate degree from a recognised university. 4. Candidates belonging to these states are only eligible for the opportunity — Term 1 — Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Andaman &amp; Nicobar Islands, Chandigarh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Delhi. Term 2 — Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Lakshadweep, Puducherry. 5. 30%-50% seats are reserved for women candidates.  "The evacuation operation from Yemen is over. General <keyword id="456401" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="V-K-singh">V.K.Singh</keyword> is returning tonight. We are closing our Embassy there," Sushma said on Twitter.
 The <keyword id="6374106" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Ministry-of-External-Affairs">Ministry of External Affairs</keyword> had earlier confirmed the rescue of over 630 people from Sana'a in Yemen by three special <keyword id="2573" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Air-India">Air India</keyword> flights, concluding India's air evacuation process.

	The total number of Indians evacuated from Sana'a by air has crossed 2,900 by 18 special flights since the beginning of the air operations.

	Indian naval vessels have also evacuated over 1,670 Indians from Aden, Al Hudaydah and Al Mukalla ports in Yemen since March 31.

	Indian Naval Ship INS Sumitra evacuated 349 persons, including 46 Indians and 303 foreign nationals from Al Hudaydah port on April 9.

	The entire evacuation effort has resulted in the evacuation of over 5600 persons. These include over 4,640 Indian nationals and about 960 foreign nationals from 41 countries.

Yemen crisis: Evacuation over, India shuts embassy in Yemen

<ul><li>MEA has launched a three-month internship programme starting from April till June 2022.</li><li>The Ministry will be hiring only 75 candidates under this programme in New Delhi.</li><li>The last date to apply for the internship programme is February 15.</li></ul>India’s <keyword id="6374106" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ministry-of-external-affairs" source="Orion">Ministry of External Affairs</keyword> (MEA) has launched an internship programme as part of the <keyword id="10912165" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="azadi-ka-amrit-mahotsav" source="Orion">Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav</keyword> celebrations to commemorate 75 years of independence. The duration of the internship is three months starting from April till June 2022. The Ministry will be hiring only 75 candidates under this programme in New Delhi. The last date to apply for the internship programme is February 15. “The MEA Internship Policy 2022 aims to take foreign policy closer to the people; bring in more focus on MEA; provide value to the interns; ensure better gender inclusivity and increase diversity in terms of qualifications, domicile and socio-economic status amongst the cohort of interns engaged by the ministry,” said the ministry in its official advertisement. Selected candidates will be given a monthly stipend of ₹10,000 to defray basic costs. Air fare to and fro from the domicile state to Delhi will be provided by the ministry. Eligibility criteria — <ol><li>Candidates should hold a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognised university/institution at the time of applying. </li><li>The internship programme will also be open to students who are presently in the final year of their graduation, where an internship is a mandatory part of their final year curriculum. </li><li>Age of the candidates should not exceed 25 years as on 31 December of the year of internship. </li></ol>Selection procedure — The selection process will consist of two stages — preliminary screening and personal interview. A minimum of 30% of the 75 internships may be filled by women candidates. Weightage will be based on academic performance assessed by percentage of marks obtained in +2 and graduation exams. Candidates will have to apply online only state-wise merit lists will be prepared – separately for male and female candidates – by elimination based on academic performance in +2 and graduation exams. Candidates selected in the merit lists, which will be announced on February 18, will be called for a personal interview between February 22-24, which will be conducted via video conferencing by the judge panel. At the end of the internship, each intern shall submit a detailed report on the work carried out and, if required, make a presentation on it. Ministry of External Affairs is offering internships to graduates with a monthly stipend of ₹10,000

It has threatened to even revoke it. 
 Mallya’s diplomatic passport, was suspended by the <keyword id="193522" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="External-Affairs-Ministry">External Affairs Ministry</keyword> on the recommendation of the ED. He has been in Britain for over a month and has refused to appear before the agency. 
 "On the advice of the Enforcement Directorate, the Passport Issuing Authority in the MEA has today suspend the validity of <keyword id="14678" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Vijay-Mallya">Vijay Mallya</keyword>'s diplomatic passport with immediate effect for a period of 4 weeks, under Section 10 A of the Passports Act, 1967. 
 
"<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Vijay+Mallya&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Mallya</a> has been asked to respond within one week as to why his passport should not be impounded or revoked under section 10(3)(c) of the Passports Act, 1967. If he fails to respond within the stipulated time, it will be assumed that he has no response to offer and the MEA will go ahead with the revocation," MEA Spokesperson Vikas Swarup said.

<ul><li>A day after the <keyword id="70191" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="International-Court-of-Justice">International Court of Justice</keyword> (ICJ) delivered its verdict in Kulbhushan Jadhav case, India today asked Pakistan for Jadhav’s immediate return. </li><li>Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar, while speaking in the Parliament today said the government will put all efforts to bring Jadhav back to India. </li><li>The ICJ had yesterday announced that its Pakistan’s obligation to inform Jadhav his rights and allow India to provide counselor access to him. </li></ul>After the final verdict of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in the Kulbhushan Jadhav case yesterday, India today asked Pakistan to immediately release him and vowed to bring the retired Navy officer back. Yesterday, The International Court of Justice (ICJ) had in its final verdict directed Pakistan to suspend the death penalty on Jadhav given in 2017 for charges of sabotage and espionage. He will also be provided consular access which was denied by Pakistan. “Pakistan was found to have deprived India of the right to communicate with Jadhav, have access to him, visit him in detention, and arrange his legal representation,” S Jaishankar, the Minister of External Affairs (MEA), said speaking at both the houses of Parliament. Jadhav, the 47-year old retired <keyword id="6355100" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Navy">Indian Navy</keyword> officer was apprehended by Pakistan security forces in <keyword id="45793" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Balochistan">Balochistan</keyword> province of Pakistan. He was charged with espionage, three years back. In April 2017, he was sentenced to death on charges of espionage and terrorism. “Kulbhushan Jadhav is innocent of the charges made against him. His forced confession, without legal representation and due process will not change this reality,” Jaishankar further said. “We once again call Pakistan to release and repatriate him forthwith,” the minister said. The International Court of Justice (ICJ) had yesterday unanimously delivered the judgement that Jadhav must be given judicial representation, by a vote of 15-1. The judgement was welcomed across party lines and all thumped the benches as Jaishankar said that the government will vigorously continue its efforts to ensure his safety and well being, and his timely return to India. The ICJ clearly pronounced that the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations was breached by Pakistan as it did not notify India of Jadhav’s detention in time and deprived India of its right to communicate with and provide consular access to Jadhav. It is to be noted that the Court has asked Pakistan to provide for appropriate reparation of its own choice in the case. The minister termed the ICJ verdict as a vindication for not only India and Jadhav but also for all those who believe in the rule of law and respect and work by the international treaties.

Kulbhushan Jadhav is innocent, release him says India’s External Affairs Minister

Foreign secretary S. Jaishankar, has carried out a major overhaul of the MEA, putting in a whole new set of faces in South Block and in key missions overseas. However, there are some other important ambassadorial positions that will also be up for grabs in a few months in Bhutan, Myanmar and Singapore.

<ul><li>Indian external affairs minister <keyword id="3006063" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Subrahmanyan-Jaishankar">Subrahmanyan Jaishankar</keyword> explained why the <keyword id="6374106" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="ministry-of-external-affairs">Ministry of External Affairs</keyword> (MEA) needs its own new, emerging and strategic technologies (NEST) division. </li><li>As a stakeholder in national security, MEA must monitor cyber threats as well. </li><li>While the nature of technology may not be strategic, it can become so in the hands of a strategic player. </li></ul>Technology is no longer just about economics — it dictates a country's cyber might and leads to fears of governments spying on each other. However, the strategic importance of technology depends on a number of different factors, according to External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyan Jaishankar. Speaking at the Raisina Dialogue 2020, Jaishankar explained why the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) needs a separate division to monitor emerging technology. “It is no longer realistic to deal with technology as economics, which used to be an old fashioned way around 20-30 years ago. Today technology is very strategic,” he said. The question of national security Cyberthreats are on the rise. Threat intelligence company Group-IB found that cyberspace was increasingly weaponised in 2019. Their report found that cyber weapons were used to carry out numerous military operations last year. In addition, the number of state-sponsored attackers is on the rise. Jaishankar believes that since the MEA is a stakeholder in national security, it’s only logical that it should oversee technology that could pose a potential threat. “There are technologies that are strategic in nature and it’s important for a ministry that analyses foreign affairs, which contributes to national security, to have a set of people who are competent, trained and focused to analyse those strategically relevant technologies,” explained Jaishankar. His concerns seem valid in light of Lazarus — <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/tech/news/heres-why-north-korean-hackers-attacked-indias-nuclear-power-plant/articleshow/72035492.cms">hackers based out of North Korea</a> — targeting Indian government institutions like the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant (<a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/tech/news/indian-nuclear-plant-hack-is-only-one-small-part-of-a-much-bigger-operation-according-to-a-cybersecurity-expert/articleshow/72033253.cms">KNPP</a>) in November last year. However, Group IB finds that two of seven new cyber-espionage groups in 2019 — BITTER and Sidewinder — were state-sponsored hackers based out of India. The strategic importance of technology varies Most people believe that technology which circumvents consent — like Pegasus spyware infiltrating WhatsApp accounts — are the biggest threats to national security due to their predatory nature. While that may be the primary determinant, Jaishankar feels technology can also become strategic on the basis of who’s using it. “There are technologies, which in the hands of strategic players, becomes strategic technology. Some of it is the nature of technology, some of it is the user of technology, deployment of technology and the intent of technology,” he said. So far, MEA’s new, emerging and strategic technologies (NEST) division said that it will monitor the implementation of 5G and artificial intelligence (AI). Its mandate, however, extends to developing India’s external technology policy in line with national security goals. India’s foreign minister explains why the MEA needs a separate division to monitor emerging technology

<keyword id="6358992" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Delhi-Police">Delhi Police</keyword> has detained <keyword id="232202" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mehmood-Akhtar">Mehmood Akhtar</keyword>, a Pakistani staffer working with Pakistan High Commission, for espionage. 
 As per the reports, Akhtar, 35, is Pakistan envoy <keyword id="135964" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Abdul-Basit">Abdul Basit</keyword>’s staffer and possessed highly classified army-related documents. The intelligence bureau had tailed him for weeks. 
 
The staffer, however, has been released due top diplomatic immunity. 
 
 Pakistani envoy <keyword id="349030" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Basit">Basit</keyword> has been summoned by the external affairs ministry, TV reports said. 
 
A report has been sent the report on the high commission staffer to the external affairs ministry. . Crime branch officials have also briefed the Union Home Minister and Delhi's Lieutenant Governor.

Pakistan High Commission’s staffer detained for espionage, let-off due to diplomatic immunity

New Delhi, The first IIT campus outside India will come up in Tanzania's Zanzibar, the <keyword id="6374106" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="ministry-of-external-affairs" source="Orion">Ministry of External Affairs</keyword> (MEA) said on Thursday. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed for setting up of a campus of <keyword id="6356755" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="iit-madras" source="Orion">IIT Madras</keyword> in Zanzibar, which is a Tanzanian archipelago off the coast of East Africa. The agreement was inked on Wednesday in presence of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Zanzibar's President Hussein Ali Mwinyi. Jaishakar is on a visit to Tanzania. "The first IIT campus to be set up outside India will be in Zanzibar," the MEA said. It said an MoU was signed between the India's education ministry, IIT Madras and Zanzibar's ministry of education and vocational training. "This campus is reflective of the longstanding friendship between India and Tanzania and a reminder of the focus India places on building people to people ties across Africa and the Global South," the MEA said. It said the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 recommends that "high performing Indian universities will be encouraged to set up campuses in other countries". "Recognising the strategic partnership between Tanzania and India, the relationship of educational partnership has been formalised by signing the document which provides the framework for the parties to detail out the setting up of the proposed campus of IIT Madras in <keyword id="17916122" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="zanzibar-tanzania" source="Orion">Zanzibar-Tanzania</keyword>, with plans to launch programmes in October 2023," the MEA said.
