As against the two-year M.Tech program at IITs, the premier institutes are planning to execute M.Tech course for working professionals. 
 
A number of IITs are unable to retain their MTech students as they quit the course after landing jobs in public sector undertakings. In this regard, the M Tech programme could have more students complete their Masters. 
 
The move can help promote research work and increase revenue of IITs. IIT directors were seen discussing issues related to introducing executive MTech at the 155th meeting of IIT directors hosted by IIT-Kanpur last year in December. 
 
They feel there is no harm having sponsored MTechs by industry and the course could be charged for the actual cost. 
 
Curently, a number of IIMs and other B-schools already offer executive MBA programme for working professionals, but IIT's M.Tech course is the most cost-effective. Here's what the current M.Tech courses are offering. 
 
Compressed into a one-year programme, the executive M.Tech programme at IITs will be charged as per market rates. 
 
The final decision, however, is awaited. 
 
IIT directors of Bombay, Hyderabad and Roorkee are working out the details of this project. Once they reach a conclusion, the proposal will be sent to the IIT council, chaired by the HRD minister, for final approval.

Senapathy ‘Kris’ <keyword id="9991" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Gopalakrishnan">Gopalakrishnan</keyword> is a name that resonates with the growth of IT sector in India and the rise of <keyword id="6354512" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Infosys">Infosys</keyword>. ‘Kris’ as he is known popularly was the second last founder-CEO of the home-grown IT giant that spearheaded entrepreneurship in the field of digital transformation through internet technology. While Kris quit the company’s board in 2014, he is far from retired from work. As an ex-president of CII and also the non-executive chairman of Axilor ventures, he promotes start-ups because starting his own business with six other friends in 1981 changed his life. Gopalakrishnan talked to Business Insider about his early life which has made him who he is today.

He recalls an incident where his professor caught him reading on a cycle. ” Professor Mahabala had started this new Fortran programming course that he knew I’d be interested in, and encouraged me to join. That course ignited my love for experimentation and I never looked back at anything else,” Kris says, fondly.

First Entrepreneurial Stint that Worked When it comes to work, Gopalakrishnan counts his stars and says that he was lucky to find people who supported him, no matter what. “I started working at Patni computers in Pune where I met Narayana Murthy. He wanted to start his own venture and asked me to come on board; I couldn’t refuse because I looked up to him as a senior,” Kris recollects. With a dream team and a great manager like Murthy on board, Gopalakrishnan was not worried about him starting up at a young age of 27. He agrees that he was scared to tell his family and when he got married the same year as the incorporation of the company, he waited till the wedding to make the announcement. Luckily, everyone was unfazed and Kris started the first sailing course on the entrepreneurship, smooth.

Last year, it added an automation unit to its banking operations — hiring nearly 800 digitally-skilled employees. </li><li>It aims to add another 4,000 employees over the next three months — especially from the rural areas and tier 2 cities.</li></ul>Axis Bank Chief Executive Amitabh Chaudhry’s push for digitisation and automation has forced out 15,000 people from its ranks in the last 9 months. That’s nearly one in every five Axis Bank employees who have resigned. What is interesting is where Axis Bank is looking for replacements. “We have robust plans to add another 25,000 to 30,000 employees in Axis Bank and the subsidiaries in the next 2 year or so,” the company told Business Insider. This will include campus hires from B-schools like ISB (Indian School of Business) and IITs (Indian Institute of Technology). Recently, a treasure trove of texts exchanged between Musk and Agrawal was leaked in the public domain. I kinda don't think I should be the boss of anyone. But I love helping solve technical/product design problems," Musk told Agrawal. "Treat me like an engineer instead of a CEO," Agrawal replied. Musk told him that he has tons of ideas, but "I just want Twitter to be maximum amazing". "I would like to understand the technical details of the Twitter codebase. This will help me calibrate the dumbness of my suggestions," he wrote to Agrawal. "I used to be CTO and have been in our codebase for a long time. So I can answer many, many of your questions," Agrawal replied. Agrawal told Musk that he is free to tweet "is Twitter dying?" or anything else about Twitter "but it's my responsibility to tell you that it's not helping me make Twitter better in the current context". Vineeta Agarwala, a general partner at a California-based VC firm Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), is Agrawal's wife. They have a son. Prior to joining a16z, Vineeta held many different roles in the healthcare space. She was a physician taking care of patients, an operator at healthtech startups and as a venture investor on the Google Ventures life sciences team. She was an early data scientist at Kyruus, a management consultant for biotech, pharmaceutical, and medical device clients at McKinsey &amp; Co; and a director of product management at Flatiron Health. On an annual basis, the Chakan plant can manufacture 2 lakh units of various KTM models and last year its output stood at around 1.6 lakh which has fallen further this fiscal due to chip shortage, a bajaj official told PTI here on Friday. Half of the KTMs produced in Pune are shipped to around 70 global markets by KTM while Bajaj ships a portion of its volume to Sri Lanka, Nepal and Indonesia, Pierer said. KTM to sell electric version of Chetak in Europe from Q1 of 2024

<ul><li>The ministry of science and technology will now rank institutions — offering STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) education — on <keyword id="6372584" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="gender-equality">gender equality</keyword>, according to the Times of India report. </li><li> As many as 20 Indian institutions — including the premier Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and National Institutes of Science (NITs) — have joined hands to facilitate it. </li><li>The ministry will rate the institutions as gold, silver and bronze based on the number of women scientists, faculty and research fellows. </li><li>The move is aimed to ‘recruit, retain and promote’ women in the STEM education sector. </li></ul>Indian universities should strive to achieve something that has been taking for granted for long - gender equality. To ensure that they do, the ministry of science and technology will now rank institutions — on gender equality, <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/top-institutes-will-now-be-graded-on-gender-equality/articleshow/73283922.cms">according to </a>the Times of India report. These ranks however will be for those offering STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) courses. As many as 20 Indian institutions — including Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and National Institutes of Science (NITs) — have joined hands to facilitate it. The government aims to rope in over 90 institutions as a part of the new grading system. “Our policy will initially include 20 institutes which will adopt a self-assessment process to develop an accreditation model to help identify gender gaps and barriers to progression faced by women in science based on interviews with them,” Sanjay-Mishra, head of KIRAN division at the department of science and technology (DST)<a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/top-institutes-will-now-be-graded-on-gender-equality/articleshow/73283922.cms"> told </a>TOI. DST, along with British Council, will give ratings to institutions. The ministry will rate the institutions as gold, silver and bronze based on the number of women across verticals — including science faculty, research fellows and scientists and those sent for PhD programmes. Gold accreditation will recognise institutions that have attained gender equality in its educational programmes — and act as role models to those promoting women participation. Sliver, on the other hand will recognise those institutions that are implementing practices to overcome challenges in gender neutral approach and bronze will list those institutions that are working to promote equality. India slipped four spots to 112th in the <a href="https://www.livemint.com/news/india/india-slips-four-ranks-on-world-economic-forum-s-global-gender-gap-index-2020-11576574974188.html">Global Gender Gap Index 2020</a>, according to the <keyword id="69007" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="World-Economic-Forum">World Economic Forum</keyword> — which said that it will take nearly 100 years to attain gender parity across education, healthcare, politics and economy. The move is aimed to ‘recruit, retain and promote’ <keyword id="4244406" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="women-in-stem">women in STEM</keyword> areas. As per the report, women constitute merely 15% of faculty positions in science. In the research programmes, women account for a third of the PhD awardees. “This will definitely give a much needed thrust to the inclusion of women in academia. However a key challenge will be to define the terms of how institutions will effectively measure gender equality. They should not merely execute gender equality on paper, rather it should ensure inclusion in education and employment,” Neeti Sharma, VP, TeamLease Services told Business Insider. This course has been a transformative experience," Prashant Sharma, an MBAEx alumnus told NDTV. Overall, it has been a good year for India’s B-school pass outs. For that, the country could turn inward instead of outward to plug the gap.  “While girls enrolling in science for higher studies in India has seen an increase, the number of women entering the workplace is not in the same proportion,” the UN said. This is a global problem. Women represent a minority in the world of science at a mere 30%; and only 35% of the STEM students are women. India however is a paradox where it has graduates but not researchers. “We need a dedicated strategy not only for increasing the representation of women in the talent pipeline for STEM jobs, but also for ensuring that they thrive, incentivizing them to remain in these high-paying jobs and institutionalizing organizational cultures that enable women to advance in these fields,” Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Director of UN Women <a href="https://www.unwomen.org/en/news/stories/2020/2/statement-ed-phumzile-international-day-of-women-and-girls-in-science">said on the International Day of Women and Girls in Science</a> on February 11. Less published work, less pay One of the major reasons for the low participation is the gender pay gap. Despite the ground-breaking research and performance, women in the field of STEM are known to be paid less for their research work compared to men — not progressing as much in their careers thereby. “Girls are often made to believe they are not smart enough for STEM, or that boys and men have natural affinity for the field,” UN countered. It also said that the women in the field publish fewer research papers across the world. Here too, India is an exception. A recent study published in ‘<a href="https://www.downtoearth.org.in/news/science-technology/gender-balance-in-scientific-research-improving-in-india-study-63313">Journal of Informetrics</a>’ said that one in three research papers published in India, was written by a female author — in over 186 fields as per the scopus database. In fact, in subjects such as dentistry, psychology and humanities, women were almost at par with men with one female author for every two male authors. India’s push for women in science and research It is possible that women might be getting little recognition and lesser pay in spite of these achievements - encouraging fewer women to come into the field. Women constitute merely 15% of faculty positions in science. In the research programmes, women account for a third of the PhD awardees. Not just in STEM but India has a long way to go before they attain gender parity across fields and industries. According to the <a href="https://www.weforum.org/reports/gender-gap-2020-report-100-years-pay-equality">World Economic Forum Gender Gap Report</a>, it will take 257 years to eliminate the prevailing gender gap in the workforce, globally. India ranks 112th in the Global Gender Gap Index in 2020. Therefore, the universities are now striving to achieve something that has been taken for granted for long — <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/careers/news/iits-and-nits-will-now-be-ranked-on-how-many-women-they-educate-and-employ/articleshow/73296855.cms">gender parity</a>. In January 2020, the ministry of science and technology said that it will now rank institutions — on gender equality, <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/top-institutes-will-now-be-graded-on-gender-equality/articleshow/73283922.cms">according to </a>the Times of India report. And these ranks will be for those offering STEM courses. As many as 20 Indian institutions — including Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and National Institutes of Science (NITs) — have joined hands to facilitate it. The government aims to rope in over 90 institutions as a part of the new grading system. “This will definitely give a much needed thrust to the inclusion of women in academia. However a key challenge will be to define the terms of how institutions will effectively measure gender equality. They should not merely execute gender equality on paper, rather it should ensure inclusion in education and employment,” Neeti Sharma, VP, TeamLease Services told Business Insider. India tops the world in producing female graduates in STEM but ranks 19th in employing them

Not only would this create a niche segment of customers, but also create a new level of market altogether. You are so immersed in thinking about executing it to the last detail. 1. Pool in your own resources 
Make no mistake. Finding funders for <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=startup">your startup</a> is probably the most difficult part of the job. It is highly time consuming, and can potentially distract you from developing your product, and is also fraught with emotional upheavals. Worst part is, the results are never under control. 
 
But, this is what makes this journey as exciting as it can get. If you can factor in time spent on looking for funding and draw up a strategy to get the funders buy into your product, you have arrived with a plan and clarity. Ensure that you have pooled in some of your personal resources so that when you present yourself before the investors, you as an enterprise look healthy and not famished and desperate for ANY money they can throw in your direction. 
 
2. Be realistic 
Even if you appear a <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Here-are-10-things-that-can-help-your-startup-sail-in-first-365-days/articleshow/48958098.cms">small enterprise</a>, being honest and upfront is better than selling fabricated dreams to VCs or funders, no matter how big they are. Stay rooted, and chart a plan, which has a clear roadmap if not a perfect one, to discuss with them. Have short term goals, and an end goal – all within the realm of practical reality. It not only shows your preparedness, but also establishes credibility as a communicator. Positive and precise communication is key, not exaggeration. 
 
V C Karthic of WoNoBo and Buzzworks Business Services, who is also an angel investor, said, “Humility is more important than ability. Big ideas need to surface not just ‘me too’ ideas. Investors need start-ups as much as start-ups need investors. Just because your start-up is not fundable does not mean it is not sustainable.” 
 
3. Integrity The propensity to use funder’s money to celebrate bask in the glory is not done. To have this integral value will definitely help the funder place more faith in you and your potential. When customers send you a <keyword id="154361" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="feedback">feedback</keyword> about the product, accept it gracefully. Because, you are working to please that person at the end of this product chain that begins with you.

Communicate. (For instance) Running a food startup is much like wooing your girlfriend into marriage - the commitment lasts forever,” he added. 
 
4. Pragmatic roadmap 
Having a roadmap that isn’t too ambitious for the given set up is something the investors look forward to hearing from you. Don’t build castles in the air as they collapse even before they are complete. Investors are not the people you should be selling dreams to. They will be more than satisfied with your well-etched concept. 
 
5. Raise curiosity 
Most startups don’t use media efficiently with the fear of having to face backfiring. Learn a thing or two from politicians; learn to handle positive as well as negativity with equal aplomb. Reaching customers through media gives some sort of credibility that can be built upon. And hey, good PR can also help you find and connect with funders too.
