<ul><li><keyword id="6376684" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="nykaa" source="Orion">Nykaa</keyword> launches an incubator programme to help potential <keyword id="3152024" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="beauty-startups" source="Orion">beauty startups</keyword> with finance and guidance to grow bigger in the space.</li><li>Brands are to participate in the programme and showcase their brand value and the winning brand will earn a grant of ₹4 crore ($500,000).</li><li>A set of judges including actress Katrina Kaif, designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee, stylist Anita Shroff Adajania will be in the jury judging and mentoring the potential beauty brand.</li></ul>India’s largest beauty e-commerce player, Nykaa has come up with an initiative to support some of the many beauty startups and help build homegrown brands. <br /><br />Nykaa’s new incubator programme allows beauty startups in the country to showcase their brand and earn a grant of up to ₹4 crore ($500,000) and even an acquisition opportunity in the future. <br /><br />On July 20, Nykaa launched ‘Beauty&amp;You’ in partnership with American beauty giant <keyword id="162216" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="estee-lauder" source="Orion">Estee Lauder</keyword> with a prize pool of ₹4 crore that will be distributed among companies chosen by a panel of fashion entrepreneurs. <br /><br />“We are looking for brands that have innovative ideas and have a sustainable competitive edge and that would be unique products, unique technologies, engaging with new audiences in different ways, creating new business models, offerings, channels.” Shana Randhava, vice-president, ELC New Incubation Ventures told Business Insider India.<br /><br />Nykaa said that it’s not keen on taking equity in the winning startups in return for the grant amount, but they could. <br /><br /><br />“There’s a chance that we may invest in these brands but that is not the aim of the programme. The aim is to give them a pure grant of capital without any equity in return. The awarded brands will get the ability to launch on Nykaa’s platform and stores if they are ready for that,” said CEO of the e-commerce giant Nykaa and son of founder Falguni Nayar Achint Nayar. <br /><br />The programme aims to help founders, innovators, and creators grow their businesses holistically by identifying brand goals, achieving scale ambitions, and curating product portfolios that speak to a new generation of consumers in the Indian market. <br /><br />A set of judges including actress Katrina Kaif, designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee, stylist Anita Shroff Adajania will be in the jury judging and mentoring the potential beauty brand.<br /><br />Shana said that they are looking for brands like Haeckel's, a UK based personal care brand whom Estee Lauder recently invested in. <br /><br />“Our vision is for Beauty &amp; You to harness the entrepreneurial energy in India to advance next-generation beauty brands by presenting opportunities that help put brands on a long-term, sustainable growth path,” said Randhava. <br /><br />It has not decided on how many winners will be declared, it could be one or even four. The chosen startup brands will be provided with masterclasses, financial support, mentorship, awareness and distribution support. <br /><br />The application process starts on August 1 on <a href="https://www.beautyandyouawards.com/">this website</a> and closes on September 30, and winners to be announced in November. <br /><br />“Brands participating should have passion and the rest we can help with. About 17% of Nykaa’s gross merchandise value (GMV) are sold at full price or at a discount of 10% or lower. Nykaa’s fashion and beauty verticals will move further away from discounts, Adwaita Nayar added in the pre-IPO press conference. <br /><br />But it will be easier said than done. Nykaa vs ITC memes are hilarious but it may not be the right comparison

Vasquez</span></p><ul class="summary-list"><li>HSBC strategist Alastair Pinder identified a group of hedge funds that topped a global benchmark for three consecutive years and have also outperformed during the last few tumultuous weeks.</li><li>Pinder says there's evidence funds with that kind of track record will continue to win, and investors following their approach since 2012 would have handily beaten the market.</li><li>He also revealed the funds' top holdings in the US, Europe, emerging markets, and Japan.</li><li><a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/?hprecirc-bullet">Visit Business Insider's homepage for more stories</a>.</li></ul><p>For years, sports fans and investors have debated whether there is really such a thing as a "hot hand." That is, if a player or investor is performing very well, are they likely to keep up the streak?</p><p>Alastair Pinder, global equity strategist at HSBC, says he has an answer - at least for the investing world here and now. After evaluating data on more than 400 hedge funds, he says he's identified the tactics that have worked for the best global funds of recent years.</p><p>"At least from a short-term perspective we find that 'Hot Hand' funds can often continue their strong momentum and winning streaks," he wrote in a note to clients.</p><p>He's zeroed in on a group that not only beat the <a href="https://www.marketwatch.com/investing/fund/vwrl?countrycode=uk">FTSE All-World Index</a> every year from 2017 to 2019, but also outperformed during the turmoil that's afflicted markets since the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/china-virus-everything-we-know-deadly-2019-ncov-wuhan-spread-2020-1">coronavirus pandemic</a> began.</p><p>"Our current subset of 'Hot Hand' funds have outperformed global equity markets by over 40% since 2012, or 4.8% on an annualized basis and have beaten the benchmark considerably over the last few weeks despite the turbulence," Pinder wrote.</p><p>Over that time, following those hot hands and investing in the countries or industries they liked best while shorting those they liked the least would have substantially beaten the market, he says. That makes them a particularly appealing source of ideas.</p><p>"Key contrarian ideas over the last three months by 'Hot Hand' funds have been to increase their active weight towards Semiconductors, Retailing and Energy, while cutting exposure to Capital Goods and Materials," Pinder said.</p><p>Investors can implement those ideas using ETFs like the <a href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/etfs/vaneck-vectors-semiconductor-etf">VanEck Vectors Semiconductor ETF</a>, <a href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/etfs/spdr-s&amp;p-retail-etf">SPDR S&amp;P Retail ETF</a>, and <a href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/etfs/vanguard-energy-index-fund;etf">Vanguard Energy Index Fund</a>. </p><p>The funds also overweight the US, China, and India compared to their benchmark, a strategy investors can implement with funds like the <a href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/etfs/spdr-s&amp;p-500-etf-trust">SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF</a>, <a href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/etfs/xtrackers-msci-all-china-equity-etf">Xtrackers MSCI All China Equity ETF</a>, and <a href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/etfs/ishares-msci-india-etf">iShares MSCI India ETF</a>. Perhaps not surprisingly, these funds bet big on tech and consumer discretionary stocks.</p><p>Pinder says the average fund in the hot hand group has 34% of its assets in tech stocks, which is double the fund's benchmark.</p><p>"On the other hand, they have are less convinced on UK equities as well as Canada and Japan. South Korea, Brazil and Russia are the EM markets in which 'Hot Hand' funds have a relatively small allocation," he wrote.</p><p>Pinder also combed through the holdings of the funds to find their biggest investments in several major regions.
