<div class="image-container float_right" style="width:480px"><div class="image">AP</div></div>Fox News announced Tuesday evening that it would shake up both its morning and afternoon lineups, adding "<keyword id="358683" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="60" keywordseo="The-View">The View</keyword>" co-host <keyword id="1739111" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Elisabeth-Hasselbeck">Elisabeth Hasselbeck</keyword> to co-host "Fox &amp; Friends."
Hasselbeck will replace current "Fox &amp; Friends" co-host Gretchen Carlson, who will anchor a one-hour daytime program beginning this fall.
"Elisabeth’s warm and engaging personality made her a star on 'The View,'" Fox News chairman and CEO Roger Ailes said in a statement. 
"She has proven to be an excellent conversationalist, and I am certain she will make a great addition to our already successful morning franchise."
Hasselbeck, who has co-anchored "The View" since 2003, said in a statement that it was an "honor" to move to Fox News. 
Hasselbeck has been the lone conservative voice on "The View" for some time, and she often clashed with her more liberal co-hosts. One of them, <keyword id="302230" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Barbara-Walters">Barbara Walters</keyword>, wished Hasselbeck well in a statement released by Fox.
"We have had 10 wonderful years with Elisabeth and she will now be swimming in new waters," she said. "We will miss her and wish her everything good."
In a statement, <keyword id="6369596" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="abc">ABC</keyword> added, "She stood behind her political views even if they were not the most popular opinions at the table, never shying away from voicing a difficult question."
It wasn't immediately clear where Carlson would fit in the daytime schedule. Last week, however, the network announced that former daytime host <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/megyn-kelly-fox-news-primetime-greta-van-susteren-2013-7" target="_blank">Megyn Kelly would move to a primetime slot when she returns from maternity leave</a>. 
Carlson said she was "excited" to advance her career.

The conservative Hasselbeck <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/elisabeth-hasselbeck-fox-news-view-gretchen-carlson-2013-7">is heading to Fox</a> to replace Gretchen Carlson as co-host on "Fox &amp; Friends."
Through tears, Hasselbeck fawned over boss Barbara Walters, saying "I've had over 3,000 days working by your side. Over the course of a decade, I feel as though I have attended the Barbara Walters school of broadcast journalism."
"Because of all that you've given me," she continued. "I feel more than prepared and confident to move forward. I've worked with the best leader in the business and I couldn't ask for a better mentor."
Walters said Wednesday that Hasselbeck’s departure is “going to leave a big void at this table." Though Walters also said there are no immediate plans to fill that void, <a href="http://www.tmz.com/2013/07/09/elisabeth-hasselbeck-leaving-the-view/" target="_blank">TMZ reports</a> that Brooke Shields is in talks to replace her.

It wasn't the photo Jamie Grumet thought that Time magazine would run. The staged pose wasn't the "best representation" of what it's like to breastfeed a toddler, she said. Still, when the photo of her breastfeeding her son, Aram, ran on a 2012 cover of the magazine with the words, "Are you mom enough?" Grumet went viral.Whoopi Goldberg and Elisabeth Hasselbeck<a href="https://abc7chicago.com/archive/8658210/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> ridiculed</a> the photo on "The View," Rush Limbaugh memed it, TMZ<a href="https://www.tmz.com/watch/0-en71okzy/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> chased down</a> Grumet and her family in a Los Angeles park, and men mailed letters, calling Grumet a "pedophile" to her apartment along with religious paraphernalia. That never happened because kids aren't the assholes everybody makes them out to be — their parents are," said Grumet.<h2>Grumet identifies with attachment parenting</h2>Grumet was a proponent of pediatrician William Sears and registered nurse Martha Sears' ideas on attachment-parenting, which they detailed in their 2001 book of the same name. In the decade since the cover ran, the ideas have become more widely adopted. Dr. Sears' <a href="https://www.askdrsears.com/topics/parenting/attachment-parenting/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">website</a> describes the parenting style as "being responsive and sensitive to your baby's needs, nurturing your child through touch, and creating a bond that allows the child's needs to be easily deciphered and cared for" — qualities that most parents incorporate whether or not they identify with attachment parenting. More specifically, people with an attachment-parenting style <a href="https://www.healthline.com/health/parenting/attachment-parenting#basic-principles" target="_blank" rel="noopener">commonly cosleep, babywear, and practice extended breastfeeding</a>. The sight of dads<a href="https://www.growingyourbaby.com/chris-hemsworth-elsa-pataky-arrive-in-la-with-their-crew/chris-hemsworth-carries-his-daughter-india-and-son-at-lax/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> wearing</a> baby carriers is common now, as are magazine images featuring<a href="https://www.glamourmagazine.co.uk/article/olivia-wilde-breastfeeding-photos-us-glamour-baby-pics" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> breastfeeding</a> and<a href="https://www.elle.com/culture/celebrities/a25628292/rachel-mcadams-breastpump-magazine-cover/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> pumping</a>. The American Academy of Pediatrics updated its<a href="https://www.aap.org/en/news-room/news-releases/aap/2022/american-academy-of-pediatrics-calls-for-more-support-for-breastfeeding-mothers-within-updated-policy-recommendations/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> breastfeeding recommendations</a> last year, detailing that breastfeeding is encouraged exclusively "for the first 6 months" and recognized the benefits of breastfeeding "up to 2 years, especially in the mother." It did not have guidance for mothers who breastfeed until the age of 4, which is when Grumet <a href="https://www.today.com/parents/times-breast-feeding-cover-mom-has-no-regrets-1c7662776" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stopped breastfeeding her son.</a>"Mothers who choose to breastfeed beyond the first year need support from their medical-care providers, as well as protections against workplace barriers," the AAP said.Grumet felt that many of the women who reacted negatively to her cover in 2012 were expressing a sense of shame or guilt around their own parenting practices. Breastfeeding, bottle-feeding and other parenting decisions aren't really a "choice" though, she added. "Some people who are feeling guilty about doing one thing — insert whatever you want — they don't have a choice," she said. "You haven't failed your child in whatever parenting decisions that…you've made, that you haven't made because you have no other choice. Society has failed you."Goldberg, for instance, criticized Grumet by saying that breastfeeding her son at 3 was "insane," but has<a href="https://twitter.com/TheView/status/1630980416797540374" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> spoken</a> about the difficulties in breastfeeding her own daughter 50 years ago."Mothers internalize societal failures as personal failures," Grumet, who has a background in theological anthropology, said. "We try to tell mothers how to parent their children, but then we don't support them in doing it." Grumet went through her own struggles to feed. Aram was born prematurely at 31 weeks of gestation after she developed HELLP syndrome, a dangerous form of preeclampsia. She was essentially in a "magnesium coma" after her C-section and had lactation induced by her ex-husband and sister-in-law, who placed a breast pump on her while she lay in recovery, something she is grateful for, she said.Grumet also tandem nursed her son Samuel, whom she adopted at age 4 from Ethiopia.<h2>Grumet's family trauma shaped her parenting style</h2>The story of Grumet's larger family is also shaped by attachment. Her older sister and brother were born in the '70s, when the pediatric recommendation was to "put the babies on the schedule, leave them in a crib, and there was a lack of touch," she said.Her mother suffered mastitis, weaning Jamie's sister from breastfeeding at two weeks and her brother at two months of age. Grumet said that the family believes that mental health issues later in her brother's life could have been exacerbated by attachment issues.While breastfeeding does have some potential impacts on psychological development, the authors of a <a href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6096620/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">2018 review noted</a> that "caution is needed" when explaining how it can impact a person specifically, since it's difficult to control for <a href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3753522/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">socioeconomic</a> and other factors."My brother ended up having a bad drug problem that [my mother] thinks was related to that," Grumet said, noting that her brother was shot and <a href="https://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/TRI-VALLEY-Armed-Suspect-Killed-In-Gunfight-2772159.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">killed</a> in 2000 by San Francisco police. Authorities later ruled it a sucide-by-cop incident after he provoked a police response. "But one protective factor that stands out is the degree of social support — the depth to which each person feels like other people are really there for them when they really need it."Grumet was born 11 years after her brother, and said her mother took a different approach to raising her. For instance, she was weaned at 5 or 6 years of age and coslept with her parents until 8. "She just parented me completely intuitively," she added. <h2>Her son is now almost 15 and proud of his viral moment</h2>Aram has a framed photo of the Time cover on his wall that "he's never not been proud of." The viral outrage cycle surrounding the photo now seems short-lived set against the multigenerational story of the Grumet family. "What's happening in society is we're telling these women to endure things that they shouldn't be enduring," Grumet said of not supporting mothers despite what choices they make. Today's controversies have moved on to new topics — such as gentle parenting, screen time, and cosleeping — but Grumet's advice for the mothers coming behind her remains clear."My mom always says, 'You know, you have to parent the way that you know because you know your child the best,'" she said. "Society may say terrible things to you, which I've seen in the comment section of things, but they're not going to be there when the coroner shows up for your child," Grumet continued. "You have to own your own decisions. Those people aren't parenting your children."

The <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000189/" target="_blank">actress/comedian</a>/<a href="http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=ntt_athr_dp_sr_1?_encoding=UTF8&amp;field-author=Jenny%20Mccarthy%20(Author)&amp;search-alias=books&amp;sort=relevancerank" target="_blank">author</a>/<a href="http://www.usnews.com/opinion/blogs/pat-garofalo/2013/07/12/keep-jenny-mccarthys-vaccine-and-autism-pseudoscience-off-the-view" target="_blank">Autism activist</a> has made 17 previous appearances on the show, including eight as a guest co-host. 
“Jenny brings us intelligence as well as warmth and humor,” Walters <a href="http://insidetv.ew.com/2013/07/15/jenny-mccarthy-the-view/" target="_blank">said in a statement</a>. “She can be serious and outrageous. She has connected with our audience and offers a fresh point of view. Jenny will be a great addition to the show as we usher in an exciting new chapter for The View.”
“I’m beyond thrilled … I look forward to helping make hot topics a little bit hotter, and showing my mom that my interrupting skills have finally paid off,” McCarthy added in a statement.
The 40-year-old former Playboy Playmate also thanked VH1 for allowing her to take the job, as she was under contract for her new late-night talk show, "The Jenny McCarthy Show," which has been fledgling in the ratings.
"View" co-host Sherri Shepherd more than hinted at the news last week, <a href="http://www.tmz.com/2013/07/11/sherri-shepherd-elisabeth-hasselbeck-the-view/" target="_blank">telling TMZ cameras</a> "Jenny McCarthy is fearless, she's amazing, she'll cause some stuff, so I'm excited about her."
McCarthy will join the 17th season of "The View" which begins Sept. 9.

This weekend's "Saturday Night Live" mocked how "Fox and Friends" covered this week's Obamacare and climate change news.

"President Obama did his best to make us all sign up for Obamacare," Doocy started off the show by saying.
"And wow, it wasn't easy," noted Hasselbeck.
To which Kilmease responded, "It's tough to sign up for things, I've tried for years to sign up for the NAACP."
Getting things back on track, Doocy explained, "Now that the deadline has passed, the White House is claiming that they've met their goal. But look at our Fox News chart. As you can see, Obama needed to get 7 million new subscribers and he only got 7. million. Not anywhere close."

After talking to a "victim of Obamacare" played by "SNL" host Anna Kendrick, the show switched gears to address the study that came out this week about climate change.
"It's so confusing, so we thought we would bring in a scientist to help us out," said Doocy. "From Fox's 'Cosmos', please welcome Neil deGreasse Tyson." <div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image"><a href="http://www.hulu.com/watch/618470?playlist_id=2363#i0,p10">NBC/"Saturday Night Live"</a></div></div></div>
"This report actually represents the consensus of the vast majority of scientists," explained deGrasse Tyson, expertly played by Kenan Thompson. "It is an indisputable fact that the earth is getting warmer."
To which Kilmeade added, "I saw a documentary about a town that was always cold because of a princess."
"That was 'Frozen,'" Hasselbeck corrects.
deGrasse Tyson continued, "Addressing this problem should be a goal that we all share. No one wants to see the extinction of the polar bears."
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, Dr.Tyson, the polar bears are just fine," exclaims Doocy. "In fact, just the other day I saw one wearing sunglasses and drinking Coca-Cola."
"I think you're referring to a commercial," deGrasse Tyson points out, continuing, "I would advise each of you to study the science, for science is truth indeterminate and science allows us to detect when people's philosophies are interfering with the dissemination of those essential truths."

'SNL' Mocks 'Fox And Friends' Coverage Of Obamacare And Climate Change

<div class="KonaFilter image-container float_right"><div class="image on-image">Courtesy of Fox News</div></div>Back in July, Fox News announced that <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/elisabeth-hasselbeck-fox-news-view-gretchen-carlson-2013-7" target="_blank">Elisabeth Hasselbeck would co-host "Fox &amp; Friends."</a> The co-host she replaced, Fox News veteran <keyword id="1881957" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Gretchen-Carlson">Gretchen Carlson</keyword>, will now host her own daytime show that begins next week.
Fox announced that "The Real Story with Gretchen Carlson" will debut next Monday, and it will run during the 2-3 p.m. ET hour. Fox News said the show focus on "all current events from general news and crime to <keyword id="6358883" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Politics">politics</keyword> and investigative reports." 
It will be preceded by "America's News HQ," which is co-anchored by Bill Hemmer and Alisyn Camerota.
"I am thrilled that Roger Ailes has given me the opportunity to host a signature show for Fox that will focus on the real stories of the day," Carlson said in a statement.
"From in-depth interviews to social media interaction live during the show, I look forward to joining viewers in the afternoon for smart and straight-forward talk. Plus, I now get to have breakfast with my kids and maybe even drive them to school! How great is that?"
Carlson joined Fox News in 2005. About a year after that, she became a co-host of "Fox &amp; Friends."
"Throughout her career, Gretchen has showcased her talents as a strong interviewer and skilled moderator, both of which will serve her well as she offers viewers a fresh take on the news," FNC executive vice president of news Michael Clemente said.
