EaseMyTrip touches market cap of a billion dollars

New Delhi, Online travel service provider <keyword id="10861063" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Easy-Trip-Planners" source="Orion">Easy Trip Planners</keyword> Ltd on Monday reported a 21.82 per cent decline in consolidated net profit at Rs 25.9 crore for the June quarter. The company had posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 33.13 crore in the year-ago quarter, Easy Trip Planners, which operates under the brand EaseMyTrip, said in a regulatory filing. Consolidated revenue from operations during the first quarter of the current fiscal stood at Rs 124.05 crore, as against Rs 87.58 crore a year ago, it added. Total expenses were higher at Rs 91.56 crore, as compared to Rs 47 crore in the same period a year ago, the company said.

Easy Trip Planners Q1 2023-24 profit declines 22% to Rs 26 crore

However, within minutes of trading the share price fell to ₹204 at 10.13 am. Since its listing, the company’s market value rose to ₹2,305 crore. In the grey market, the shares of the company were trading at ₹160-165, as per <a href="https://www.livemint.com/market/ipo/easy-trip-planners-ipo-grey-market-premium-listing-gains-allocation-dates-in-10-points-11615094894205.html">reports.</a> However, the grey market is not an official measure of the market premium. The company had seen its IPO being oversubscribed by 159.33 times the offer value, with its QIB portion being subscribed 78 times, HNI 384.26 times and retail 70.78 times. EaseMyTrip’s IPO comes at a time when the fears of another lockdown are surging in the country, which could potentially affect travel. With the rising number of COVID-19 cases, several states have issued advisory while many cities are now subject to lockdowns or night curfews. However, ahead of its IPO, EaseMyTrip seemed optimistic about the travel industry. “In our third quarter of 2020, we have already recovered 70% of where we were during the same period last year,” Prashant Pitti, director at Easy Trip Planners (the parent company of EMT) told Business Insider in an interview. The company is an exception among a large pool of internet companies, which have tried to get listed – EaseMyTrip has bootstrapped its way to the public markets. Founded in 2008, the company is India’s second largest travel aggregator. EMT claims to have achieved profitability and calls itself “the only profitable company among key OTAs (online travel aggregators) in India”. The sector is poised to grow According to Ventura, the company has increased its market share from 3.1% in FY18 to 4.6% in FY20 and has been ranked second among key OTAs in India based on booking volumes. The online penetration, defined as a share of bookings done online through websites of the service providers or through online travel agencies (OTAs), of the Indian travel industry accounted for 56-58% in FY20. The analysts further expect the share of online penetration to 67-68% in FY23, supported by growth in online transactions due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Justified valuations The ICICI Direct report highlighted that taking cognisance of the huge growth opportunities for EaseMyTrip and a lean cost of operations that would aid the flow of profitability to the bottom line — “it is an attractive issue.” According to Choice Broking, the company is available at a P/E of 65.3x on FY20 numbers — “which is reasonably priced”. The price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio shows the price that the market is willing to pay for a stock based on its earnings. Higher the P/E, the more expensive the stock. Here is why analysts maintain a bullish mood for the ₹510 crore IPO of bootstrapped online travel aggregator EaseMyTrip

Post-listing, the market capitalisation of the company stood at ₹3,894 crore, according to BSE data. The shares of RateGain were trading at ₹373.85, lower by 12% at 10.08 a.m., on December 17. The grey market had indicated a decent listing for RateGain a day prior to the listing with a ₹30 premium per share. The IPO was open between December 7 and December 9 ⁠and was oversubscribed 17.41 times by investors. The company intended to raise ₹1,335 crore through this public issue. The company is one of the leading distribution technology companies globally, which runs a software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform that solely focuses on the travel and hospitality segment. Founded in 2004 by Bhanu Chopra, RateGain offers travel and hospitality software solutions. Its software covers an entire set of data points including pricing, rating, ranking, availability, room description, cancellation policy, discounting and packages, among other things. The company has over 1,434 customers — across the hotel, hospitality and online travel agency (OTA) segment — spread across 110 countries. RateGain Travel Technologies makes a disappointing listing at 10% discount

<div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div></div></div>Uber will begin to share ride data with municipal authorities, <a href="http://blog.uber.com/city-data">according to an announcement on the company's website</a> posted Tuesday.
Boston is the first city Uber plans to cooperate with to hand over ride data.
Last week, New York City's Taxi &amp; Limousine Commission (TLC) <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/uber-has-been-partially-suspended-in-new-york-city-2015-1">shut down five of Uber's six NYC bases</a> because the company refused to hand over anonymized ride data. 
The TLC requested Uber divulge "the date of trip, time of trip, pick up location, and license numbers" over a finite period. The bases <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/uber-new-york-city-bases-have-reopened-2015-1#ixzz3OiCvfT8g">were reopened the next day</a>.
It appears Uber has had a change of heart and will comply with city governments, using ride data to help city planners.
"Today, Boston joins Uber in a first-of-its-kind partnership to help expand the city's capability to solve problems by leveraging data provided by Uber. The data will provide new insights to help manage urban growth, relieve traffic congestion, expand public transportation, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions," according to the blog post.
The post is quick to point out that data shared with local governments will be anonymized, so riders' names and addresses won't be made available. Instead, Uber will give Boston's city planners the ZIP Code Tabulation Area (ZCTA) in which Uber rides start and end. Uber will also share with city planners Uber trip distances in miles and duration in seconds. 
Rider data could be quite beneficial for city planners. The <a href="http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/wonkblog/wp/2014/10/30/ubers-data-could-be-a-treasure-trove-for-cites-but-theyre-wasting-the-chance-to-get-it/">Washington Post's Emily Badger</a> points out that anonymized versions of Uber's rider data could "help cities verify that Uber drivers aren't discriminating against certain neighborhoods or disabled passengers, that Uber is actually weeding out drivers who do, that the company is truly serving the public in exchange for the public's confidence in it."
The Washington Post says trip data could also help transportation planners analyze people's travel routes, and city planners might be able to better plan infrastructure and handle traffic flow in cities.

For a minute, I thought this one would pay off.Two of our kids took those gift cards down to almost nothing, but our third just isn't a big shopper, and he left a bunch of money on the card.The cards don't expire, so technically, we aren't out anything, but now we have to figure out what to do with this gift card back home. New Delhi, Feb 3 () As many as four companies, including online travel firm EaseMyTrip and realty firm Puranik Builders, have received markets regulator Sebi's go-ahead to float initial public offerings.
 Construction firm Montecarlo and manufacturer of pharmaceutical chemicals Chemcon Speciality Chemicals are the other companies that obtained clearance from Sebi.
 The companies had filed draft offer documents with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) during September-December 2019.
 According to latest update with the markets watchdog, EaseMyTrip and Puranik Builders obtained Sebi's "observations" on January 28, while the same for Montecarlo and Chemcon Speciality Chemicals was obtained on January 31.
 Sebi's observations are necessary for any company to launch public issues such as initial public offer, follow-on public offer and rights issue.
 Going by the draft papers, EaseMyTrip.com plans to float a Rs 510 crore initial public offering (IPO), through which the company's founders Nishant Pitti and Rikant Pitti will each sell shares to the tune of Rs 255 crore through offer-for-sale mechanism.
 EaseMyTrip.com is operated by Easy Trip Planners Private Ltd.
 The IPO of Puranik Builders consists of fresh issue of shares worth Rs 810 crore, besides an offer for sale up to 18,59,620 equity shares by the company's promoters and existing shareholders.
 According to market sources, the IPO size could be estimated at Rs 1,000 crore.
 Montecarlo filed fresh papers with Sebi in September 2019 to launch an IPO comprising fresh issuance of shares worth Rs 450 crore, besides an offer for sale of up to 30 lakh equity stocks by existing shareholder Kanubhai M Patel Trust.
 According to market sources, Montecarlo's IPO size is estimated to be Rs 550 crore.
 In May 2018, Montecarlo had approached Sebi with draft prospectus seeking its approval to raise funds through initial share-sale and secured the market regulator's nod in August last year to float the public issue. However, the company did not launch the IPO.
 Chemcon Speciality Chemicals' IPO comprises of fresh issue of shares worth Rs 175 crore and an offer for sale of 43 lakh equity shares from the promoters.
 Sources pegged the company's IPO size at Rs 350 crore. SP
