The country's largest lender, <keyword id="6354731" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="state-bank-of-india" source="Orion">State Bank of India</keyword> (<keyword id="13222" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="sbi" source="Orion">SBI</keyword>) has warned customers against instant loan apps and even suggested measures to safeguard against the menace. "Please refrain from clicking on suspicious links or giving your information to a company posing as a <keyword id="15606804" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="bank-or-financial-company" source="Orion">Bank or Financial Company</keyword>. Report cybercrimes at cybercrime.gov.in," the bank tweeted. Instant loan apps, especially those originating from China have been a menace as the government as well as the <keyword id="6354335" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="reserve-bank-of-india" source="Orion">Reserve Bank of India</keyword> (<keyword id="30067" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="rbi" source="Orion">RBI</keyword>), have received several complaints against them. Their proliferation has led to increased cases of cybercrime and also extortion of hapless borrowers. Sharing some safety tips, the SBI suggested that it is always better to check the authenticity of an app before downloading. There are lots of illegal apps that may trap users and siphon off money from their accounts. Customers should not click on suspicious links and discretion should be used to avoid falling for unauthorised apps, the SBI said. Check the app permission settings to secure your data from getting stolen and in case of theft, such matters should be reported to the local police authorities, the bank cautioned further. SBI warns customers against instant loan apps

New Delhi, Mar 20 () The Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) on Friday asked pensioners and employers to avoid visiting its offices and avail online services like raising claims for PF, view balance, and make payments etc from their homes. The step has been taken to curb the spread of deadly coronavirus, the EPFO said in a statement. To contain the spread of coronavirus, the EPFO advises members, pensioners and employers to avoid visiting EPFO offices and avail various online services offered by it from their homes, it said. Most of the services of the EPFO are available online, it mentioned. An employee can generate his/her own Universal Account Number (UAN), activate his/her UAN and seed it with Aadhaar, PAN, Bank Account and mobile number (KYC seeding), the EPFO said. "Employee can also make nominations, view balance in the passbook, update his/her date of exit, transfer his/her account from unexempted to exempted establishment and vice-versa. "Employees have been further empowered to raise claims online for the provident fund (PF) advances or final withdrawal, pension or insurance benefits and receive payment of PF/pension/insurance benefits directly in his/her bank account," the statement said. Similarly, a pensioner can download his/her pension payment order (PPO) or preserve it in Digilocker. He/she can know his PPO number with the help of his/her bank account number or UAN and view passbook. Pensioners can also update Jeevan Praman (Digital Life Certificate) online any time of the year. "Employers can register their establishments under EPF&amp;MP Act, 1952 and obtain establishment ID, make payment of EPF and allied dues through RTGS/NEFT and submit Electronic Challan cum Return (ECR). Employers have also been facilitated to avail e-inspections of their establishments," it said. In case of any grievance, the EPFO said employees, employers and pensioners can get them resolved online through EPFigms portal. The details of these services and facilities are also available at www.epfindia.gov.in. Coronavirus: EPFO advises beneficiaries to not to visit its offices

The retirement fund body <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=EPFO+">EPFO </a>today unveiled a mobile application for its users. Along with the app, the government body also launched other phone-based services like accessing PF account details for its more than 3.54 crore subscribers, 49.22 lakh pensioners and 6.1 lakh employers. 
 
As published in an Economic Times report, the service was launched by<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Labour+Minister"> Labour Minister</a> <keyword id="115762" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bandaru-Dattatreya">Bandaru Dattatreya</keyword> on the eve of 208th meeting of the <keyword id="225704" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Central-Board-of-Trustees">Central Board of Trustees</keyword> held in Hyderabad. 
 
These three mobile-based services – mobile app, SMS-based universal account number activation and missed call service – are primarily meant for EPF members. 
 After downloading the mobile application from the <keyword id="6372438" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="EPFO">EPFO</keyword> website, the user would be able to activate the UAN account from the mobile device itself. What more? The user can also access the accounts to view monthly credits and details available with EPFO. 
 The EPF <keyword id="6354432" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="pension">pension</keyword>ers and employers can also access their pension disbursement and remittance details using these services. 
 
Under the SMS-based service for UAN activation, the member is supposed to send an SMS to 7738299899. The member then becomes eligible for services like credit alerts and passbooks. The new service primarily is beneficial for the users having an access to either computer or smart phone. 
 
EPFO already has in place a Short Code SMS service, which helps members get their details along with contribution and PF balance through an SMS to 7738299899. 
 
As an extension to this service, a missed call at 011 22901406 – at no cost to the member – it will fetch all the required user details. As this facility is available only to UAN members, the activation is expected to pick up. 
 
As per the data released by the Ministry, a total of around 1.80 crore UAN have been activated so far, 58.72 lakh UAN are seeded with Aadhaar and 1.82 crore UAN seeded with bank accounts.

New Delhi, Apr 22 () Retirement fund body EPFO has settled 10.02 lakh withdrawal claims, including 6.06 lakhs COVID-19 non-refundable advance claims, and disbursed Rs 3,600.85 crore in the last 15 working days. Around 90 per cent of COVID-19 non-refundable advance claims were settled within 3 days, as per a Labour Ministry statement. Under the COVID-19 non-refundable advance, the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation has allowed withdrawal of three months' basic wages (basic pay plus dearness allowances). The central government had launched the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY) on March 26 to help the economically weaker sections cope with the COVID-19 pandemic. A provision for withdrawal from the EPF Scheme to fight COVID-19 pandemic was announced by the government and an urgent notification issued, providing for non-refundable withdrawal to the extent of basic wages and DA for three months or up to 75 per cent of the amount standing to member's credit in the EPF account, whichever is less. The EPFO has settled a total of 10.02 lakh claims, including 6.06 lakhs COVID-19 claims, disbursing an amount of Rs 3,600.85 crore in just 15 working days, the statement said. It said that despite only one-third staff being able to work due to lockdown, 90 per cent of COVID-19 claims have been settled in three working days, setting new standards of service delivery. The EPFO has also provided facility to file online COVID-19 advance claim, along with other services, on UMANG APP. The exempted (private) PF trusts have also risen to the occasion. These are the firms which manage their employees' provident fund account and money themselves. Thus they are exempted from filing EPF returns with the EPFO. As on the forenoon of April, 17, 2020, Rs 481.63 crore was disbursed to 40,826 PF members as advance under para 68-L for COVID-19 by the exempted PF Trusts. The top three exempted establishments in terms of the amount disbursed for COVID-19 claims are NLC Ltd, TCS and Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, it added. Currently, the cost of a litre of milk in the state is Rs 46. The price hike comes three years after Milma had announced an increase of Rs 4 per litre in 2019. "That time, 83.75 per cent (Rs 3.35) of the additional amount went to the farmers. That proportion will continue this time which means Rs 5.025 of the Rs 6 will go to the farmer," said Chairman of the Federation, K.S. <keyword id="9128" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="mani" source="Orion">Mani</keyword>. The latest decision comes after a Milma-appointed panel comprising experts from the state's veterinary and agriculture universities conducted a study on expenses incurred by dairy farmers. In its interim report submitted last week, the committee said that the farmers suffer an estimated loss of Rs 8.57 per litre of milk. Subsequently, the Milma Director Board convened a meeting and found that a price hike was inevitable, the Chairman said. "Though Milma is authorised to increase the price, the Board's decision was discussed with the state government and a suitable hike was finalised," he added. Along with a fresh hike in procurement prices, the milk cooperatives and distributors will each get 5.75 per cent of the new hiked amount, while 0.75 per cent of the amount will go to the Dairy Farmers Welfare Fund Board. Milma will get 3.50 per cent of the increased amount even as 0.50 per cent has been earmarked for the <keyword id="15606825" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="plastic-elimination-fund" source="Orion">Plastic Elimination Fund</keyword>. Besides the rise in the cooperative federation's milk procurement prices, the government has been giving various subsidies to the farmers. The present hike in the milk procurement price will benefit the milk producers, wooing more of them to join the dairy sector, Mani said. This direction does not have an impact on the services that Paytm provides in partnership with other financial services institutions,” One 97 Communications said in a stock exchange filing on March 15. Paytm Payments Bank is a joint venture between Paytm and its founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma. It is important to note that Paytm Payments Bank is not included under the public offering of One 97 Communications, instead it is an associate entity. Even though not public, Paytm Payments Bank is the backbone behind several Paytm offerings including insurance, digital payments and lending. How to check Pf (Provident Fund) balance in India

(Eds: Recasting overnight story) New Delhi, May 6 () Domestic manufacturers have reached the capacity of producing nearly 2.5 lakh PPE and 2 lakh N-95 masks per day which is sufficient to meet the country's requirement in dealing with the novel coronavirus pandemic in the near future, the Group of Ministers (GoM) on COVID-19 has been informed. The GoM, which held its 14th meeting under the chairmanship of Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan on Tuesday, discussed various aspects pertaining to the "performance, impact and benefits" of the Aarogya Setu application. It also highlighted the need for ensuring stringent measures for quality control of personal protection equipment (PPE), masks, ventilators among others. The GoM was informed that close to 9 crore users had downloaded the Aarogya Setu app as on May 4. "People have informed about their health status on the application which has helped in tracing those suffering with any symptoms for COVID-19 containment," a statement from the health ministry said. "The GoM was also informed that a mechanism has been devised to reach out to the people who have landline or featured phones through Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) in local languages for better results," it said.Vardhan said the use of technology is integral for the containment strategy and is helping the states to manage the deadly disease in a more effective manner.Random batch sampling for ensuring compliance and adherence to quality standards was also stressed upon by the GoM, the statement said.It said a detailed presentation on the present status of COVID-19 cases globally and within the country was made to the GoM, and states were asked to follow and further strengthen their contingency plans to combat the infection on the basis of classification of districts. Several other measures about strengthening capacity of states, including devoting adequate resources for creating dedicated COVID-19 hospitals, equipping medical institutions with adequate number of PPE, ventilators and other essential equipment, were also discussed at the meeting. The GoM was apprised that the death rate of COVID-19 patients is around 3.2 per cent, while the recovery rate is more than 25 per cent, which may be taken as a positive effect of the lockdown in the country along with the cluster management and containment strategy, the statement said. The GoM was also informed that genome sequencing of strains of the novel coronavirus isolated from patients in different parts of the country has been initiated.Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla, chairman of the Empowered Group -11 informed the GoM that they are monitoring and supervising the strategic issues arriving out of the measures taken so far in containing the pandemic. He also apprised the GoM that at different stages during the lockdown, decisions on graded liberalisation were taken after consultations with stakeholders, cutting across various ministries and other Empowered Groups, the statement said. A presentation was made by Ajay Sawhney, Secretary, MeitY, and chairman of Empowered Group-9, dealing with technology solutions and data management for combating COVID-19, the statement said. "The GoM was also told that under the Prime Minister Garib Kalyan Package (PMGKP) as on May 4, 29.38 lakh MT of foodgrain has been distributed to 58.77 crore beneficiaries by 36 states/UTs as first month (April) entitlement. "A total of 5.82 lakh MT of foodgrain has been distributed to 11.63 crore beneficiaries by 20 states and UTs as second month (May) entitlement so far," the statement said. In total, 66.08 lakh MT food grain has been lifted by 36 states and UTs from the Food Corporation of India so far, it said. "An amount of Rs 6,868.74 crore has been transferred to Ujjwala (PMUY) beneficiaries. Also, 4.98 crore PMUY cylinders have been booked and 4.72 crore have been delivered during April-May. "Financial sanction for 8.18 crore beneficiaries (farmers) at Rs 2,000 each has been generated during 2020-21 and Rs 16,364 crore have been released under DBT cash transfers to farmers during the same period," the statement added. As support for senior citizens, widows and 'divyang', the first installment of funds at Rs 500 per beneficiary has been released to 2.812 crore accounts of eligible beneficiaries, amounting to Rs 1,405 crore.
