Terror attacks caused 231 deaths alone in the year 2012 in India, compared to 11,098 terror-caused deaths worldwide, as per report by the State Department of the United States. So burn the effigies of terror groups this Dussehra. 
 2. <keyword id="6416731" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Communalism">Communalism</keyword>: Why do people construct religious or <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=ethnic+identity">ethnic identity</a>? 5. Female foeticide: According to the 2011 census, the sex ratio in the 0 to 6 age group has increased from 102.4 males per 100 females in 1961, to 104.2 in 1980, to 107.5 in 2001, to 108.9 in 2011. However, it is within the normal range in eastern and southern Indian states, but significantly higher in Punjab, Haryana and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Jammu+%26+Kashmir">Jammu &amp; Kashmir</a>. It is crime to kill a female foetus, however it is continuing. 
 
6. Drug addiction: Around 2 million people use opiates drug and 62.6 million are alcohol users in India, according to a survey in 2004. The number of incidents of drug abuse among children is on rise. It goes beyond alcohol and tobacco, and often also involves <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=cocaine%2C+heroin+and+opium">cocaine, heroin and opium</a>. According to a 2012 survey by the government, boys aged between 15-19, shows that a shocking 28.6% reported tobacco use and 15% were addicted to alcohol. Girls aged 15-19 showed 5.5% used tobacco while 4% were addicted to alcohol. This is alarming! 
 
7. Domestic violence: Domestic abuse includes physical, emotional and sexual violence of any form. According to a National Family and Health survey in 2005, total lifetime prevalence of domestic violence was 33.5% and 8.5% for sexual violence among women aged 15-49. The instance of violence was reported to be lowest among Buddhist and Jain women, while highest among Muslim women in India. 
 8. <keyword id="6357490" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Human-trafficking">Human trafficking</keyword>: People are being illegally trafficked for the purpose of commercial sexual exploitation and forced labour. Various NGOs estimate this problem affects 20 to 65 million Indians. Girls are trafficked for the purposes of commercial sexual exploitation and forced marriages, especially in areas where the sex ratio is low. Children are subjected to forced labour as factory workers, domestic servants, beggars, and agriculture workers, and also used as armed combatants by terrorist and insurgent groups. 
 9. Prostitution: Mumbai and <keyword id="6354925" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Kolkata">Kolkata</keyword> have the country's largest brothel based sex industry, with over 100,000 sex workers in Mumbai alone. The Indian law bans the acts of trafficking, procuring, detaining, pimping, lending a premise for carrying on prostitution for running a brothel. However, the law aims to punish the exploiters such as madams, pimps, traffickers, customers, and other partners aiding the exploitative sex trade but not the prostitute. 
 
10. Casteism: A lot of problems in India can be attributed to casteism. Discrimination on the grounds of caste has led to social tremors and stealing someone's rights in a secular country like India. It affects the society by making people more exposed to prejudice, stereotyping and other things. These differences in rankings often cause disputes within the society.

A massive Diwali-Dussehra celebration festival showcasing the best of Indian culture, heritage, and values in an unparalleled manner has attracted a record-breaking crowd of more than 10,000 persons from all walks of life and ethnicities here in <keyword id="15710" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="texas" source="Orion">Texas</keyword>. The 11th Grand International Diwali-Dussehra Festival, depicting the "victory of good over evil", at Constellation Field in Sugar Land, a Greater <keyword id="100821" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="houston" source="Orion">Houston</keyword> suburb, was attended by several dignitaries, including US congressmen, judges, mayors, and commissioners on Saturday. Organised by the Shri Sita Ram Foundation (SSRF), a non-profit organisation, the epic celebration from 2012 onwards has grown tremendously over the years and continues to attract more attendees across Texas and other states every year. The foundation finds innovative and unique ways to share Indian Vedic culture and values. Last year it initiated efforts to highlight Diwali's message of "Good Over Evil" by involving consul generals of 15 countries in the Dussehra parade. This year, Texas Governor Greg Abbott sent in a video message, with Houston Mayor <keyword id="3691420" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="sylvester-turner" source="Orion">Sylvester Turner</keyword> being the Grand Marshal along with consul generals of several countries joining for the Dussehra parade. The football stadium was brilliantly transformed and decorated with millions of dazzling multi-coloured lights, lit-up main entrance gates, and colourful silk-draped vendor booths. The ceilings and walls of the concourse and field were decorated with traditional banners, flags, hangings, and pictures of several deities. The vendor booths did a brisk business in selling traditional Diwali items, including Diwali diyas, jewellery, fashion clothing, and toys. A "food bazaar" served vegetarian food from every part of <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword>. This festival had special attractions for children like henna booths, face painting, balloons, moonwalks, merry-go-rounds, a petting zoo, horse buggy rides, clowns, etc. Performances like folk dances, martial arts of India, and kids in costumes of the characters from the scriptures were presented on a two-tiered 60 ft. by 40 ft. stage, with professionally installed stage lights, special effects, and huge LED screens adding a wow factor for the audience. A 24-foot-tall figure of lord Hanuman and a 35-foot-tall figure of Lord Ram was installed next to the stage. A play in English depicting the life of lord Rama and his final battle to overcome evil kept the audience glued to their seats till the end, earning a standing ovation. Arun Verma, president of SSRF, said: "India is a country of festivals and Diwali being the biggest of all festivals, we try to introduce, educate, promote and showcase the rich vibrant culture and moral value to the Indian diaspora and all Americans, while celebrating the 'Victory of Good over Evil' and 'Universal Brotherhood'." "We bring the best of the best and do it on a grand scale. You name it, and we have it over here." The festival is "open to anybody" as it also includes aspects of American culture, according to Verma. "Our belief is that the entire world is one big family and we need to treat everybody like a brother and a sister. To demonstrate that, we have invited every one of them," he said. "Looking at the overwhelming response this year and the record crowd, we may have to take this festival to an even bigger location than this football field with the capacity of 10,000 spectators" as we had to stop people from entering after it crossed the maximum capacity due to city restraints, he told PTI. The Sugar Land festival, which Verma said is the biggest of its kind in Texas, combines the two Hindu holidays of Diwali and Dussehra. The festival featured a unique multi-coloured magnificent parade with 40 floats by local temples and community organisations representing scenes, stories, and characters from Indian scriptures. Mayor <keyword id="169084" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="turner" source="Orion">Turner</keyword>, who was the Grand Marshal, lead the parade alongside the Consul General of India in Houston, Aseem Mahajan, the Consulate General of France in Houston, Valerie Baraba, Indian American Fort Bend County Judge, K P George, as well as several representatives of the Texas Congressmen and other official dignitaries. The parade included representatives of the nearly 100 consul generals in Houston who represent several foreign countries. India is one of France's major partners in the Indo-pacific region". This year's festival also celebrated the 75th anniversary of India's independence "Amrit Mahotsav". Fifteen major freedom fighters such as Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, and Subhash Chander Bose were honoured by carrying 75 Indian flags during the parade. "The entire Houston Consular Corp. joined the celebrations in the true spirit of Vasudeva Kumtumbkam, thus treating the entire world as a big family. Public Holidays in Maharashtra in October 2019

The <keyword id="34478" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="auto-industry">auto industry</keyword> is expecting a cracker festival season in the backdrop of good monsoons and the seventh pay commission. 
 
Automakers are hoping for bumper sales as consumers are lining up at different companies ahead of Dussehra and Diwali. 
 For instance, <keyword id="44883" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Maruti-Suzuki">Maruti Suzuki</keyword> registered over 29% increase in September dispatches. Among others, Maruti’s Baleno and Vitara Brezza are selling like hot cakes. 
 
"The industry should see good demand during the festivals this year. The turnaround has taken place in rural markets and the momentum is expected to improve over the coming months once harvest takes place,” RS Kalsi, executive director for sales and marketing at Maruti Suzuki, told ET. 
 
During the festive season, the auto industry reports a surge in sales. During last year Dussehra and Diwali, the passenger vehicle sales increased by 21% to about 2,68,000 units. 
 "Festive season will be good this year. But wholesale growth should be read for September and October together as stocks have been built at dealerships over the last one month. Besides, there are several holidays with Dussehra and Diwali all falling in October this year, which may pose challenges in production,” N Raja, director for sales and marketing at <keyword id="118748" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Toyota-Kirloskar-Motor">Toyota Kirloskar Motor</keyword>, told ET. 
 <keyword id="596" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hyundai">Hyundai</keyword> is also hoping for a 25% increase in India sales this festival month. 
 
Rakesh Srivastava, the India head for sales and marketing, said, “Monsoon rains that have been evenly spread which bettered sentiments in rural markets, and the salary hike that has put more money in the hands of government employees, as the key reasons for the optimism.” 
Manufacturers of two-wheelers also expect the growth curve to go upwards. 
 Ashok Bhasin, head of sales, marketing and customer care at <keyword id="6357252" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hero-MotoCorp">Hero MotoCorp</keyword>, told ET, “The company has seen a good start to the season with the Onam in Kerala. There are green shoots in rural markets. This is based on sentiment right now, but once the harvest is in, there should be strong demand over the next few months.”

The Total Ad Volumes for the month of October 2021 stood at 178 mn seconds, highest for 2021, 11% higher than October 2020 and 23% higher than October 2019. The total number of advertisers stood at 2851 and brands were 4624 for October 2021, with 22% being new advertisers. “Television advertising continues to grow peaking at 178 million seconds in Oct 2021, the highest for the same period over the last three years. Backed by festivities and sporting events, these numbers have reinstated a strong positive sentiment amongst marketers. New advertisers and brands continue to ride this growth wave and place their trust in the medium given its reach. Ad volumes for the Dussehra week grew by 13% over the previous 4 weeks and by 25% over 2019. The number of new advertisers and brands was also the highest for this period,” says <keyword id="7538858" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="aaditya-pathak" source="Orion">Aaditya Pathak</keyword>, Head – Client Partnership &amp; Revenue Function, <keyword id="2801660" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="barc-india" source="Orion">BARC India</keyword>. While Ad Volumes for FMCG dominates charts, Ecommerce and BFSI sectors have recorded an extraordinary growth of 97% and 98% respectively, against Oct 2019, which is highest amongst other sectors. Ad Volumes for the Auto sector is also showing a positive curve with growth of 3% over 2019. The Retail sector grew by 127%, Durables by 297% and Personal Accessories by 157%, over the start of the year, January 2021. As a positive sentiment in the construction sector, Ad Volumes for the ‘Building Equipment’ category posted a 23% growth in Oct 2021 over Oct 2019. Dussehra Week 2021 witnessed 13% growth in Ad Volumes over the previous 4 weeks and 25% over 2019. The number of Advertisers and Brands during the Dussehra week 2021, is the highest as compared to previous years; 18% more than previous 4 weeks. Ad Volumes for Bhojpuri language during the festive period were at an all-time high in 2021, recording a growth of 111% compared to the same period in Oct 2019. Apart from Bhojpuri, Punjabi ad volumes also recorded a 52% growth over Oct 2019, while the growth percentage for Telugu and Marathi languages was 33% and 35% respectively.

The tourism season has begun on a happy note with thousands of foreign visitors crowding up the <keyword id="6355354" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Taj-Mahal" source="Orion">Taj Mahal</keyword> to see the monument of love against the rising sun. Undoubtedly, the Taj continues to remain a hot favourite, and the foreign visitors in the hundreds already here as early as 6 a.m, clearly means they have spent the night in Agra hotels. Hoteliers say night stay has declined, but there seems no proof of this fear. The monsoon rains brought down the air pollution level in the vicinity of the Taj in September and the Yamuna, too, was flowing full at the rear. "Foreign tourists are simply mesmerised by the charm of the Taj Mahal, and spend hours at the monument," said a guide escorting a group from Italy. However, in October the smog started engulfing the whole city reducing visibility in the morning. But this has not deterred tourists from visiting the Mughal monuments. "Holidays are a time for students' groups from all over India to visit the Taj Mahal and other historical monuments in Agra. Entry to children below 15 years remains free." Tourism organisations in the city have been blaming government agencies for not maintaining the roads and civic amenities. This generates a lot of negativity about tourism in Agra. "The police has been rather indifferent to the problems tourists face from unauthorised guides called 'Lapkas', who harass and pester the tourists everywhere."
