By Komal Panchamatia <p>Mumbai, May 10 () It has taken Seema Pahwa close to three decades to climb the success ladder as an actor and she believes she might have to start all over again after the nationwide lockdown is lifted. </p><p>The actor made her debut in 1984 with the landmark television series "Hum Log" and appeared in few films and TV shows. </p><p> Her performance in recent films like "Dum Laga Ke Haisha", "Bareilly Ki Barfi" and "Shubh Mangal Saavdhan" won her acceptance from the young audiences.</p><p>"Audience had started welcoming content-driven cinema but now one might think twice before paying money and risking their lives to go to theatres. So the struggle has come back in life about how to bring the audience to theatres," Seema told  in an interview.</p><p>Citing the examples of actors Ayushmann Khurrana, Rajkummar Rao and Vicky Kaushal, the 58-year-old actor said while they have redefined the Indian film hero and enjoy a huge fan following, it would be tough for even them to pull the audience to the cinema halls. </p><p>"They all had just come in and they had given a new turn to the cinema as a hero, who is not a chocolate boy but a boy next-door. These faces had achieved so much and created an audience for themselves and the struggle to start it again will be difficult," she said.  </p><p>Seema added that the fear induced by the pandemic may stop people from coming to cinema halls, which will make it tough for the artistes to sustain.</p><p>"For every actor, their work will be zero if the audience is not coming to see their performances. All we want is people to see our work and appreciate it."  </p><p>The actor, who is spending the lockdown with her husband, actor Manoj Pahwa, and two children, said she is happy being at home with her family.</p>"In this lockdown I am cooking delicious recipes for the family… We are all in the same field so we are watching movies, plays or reading stories. Seema Pahwa worried about acceptance from audience post lockdown

Mumbai, Actor <keyword id="2069863" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="bhumi-pednekar" source="Orion">Bhumi Pednekar</keyword> says the coronavirus pandemic-induced lockdown led to cost cutting and thus affected the budget of women-centric films. The actor currently features in buddy comedy "Thank You For Coming", which has a predominantly female cast. Also starring <keyword id="7903367" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="shehnaaz-gill" source="Orion">Shehnaaz Gill</keyword>, <keyword id="573702" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="dolly-singh" source="Orion">Dolly Singh</keyword>, <keyword id="8251961" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="kusha-kapila" source="Orion">Kusha Kapila</keyword>, and <keyword id="4477193" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="shibani-bedi" source="Orion">Shibani Bedi</keyword>, the film will hit the screens Friday. <br /><br />According to Pednekar, "Veere Di Wedding" was the last female-led movie that did well at the box office with earnings of around Rs 130 crore. Its producers Rhea Kapoor and Ektaa R Kapoor have reunited for "Thank You For Coming". <br /><br />"'Veere Di Wedding' is the last female story that worked and the same producers are making this film. After 'Veere Di Wedding' we had more such stories. Then lockdown (due to COVID-19) happened and then obviously there was cost cutting on female-centric films. Then again, we saw Rhea Kapoor, who made this kind of film again," the Mumbai-born actor told PTI in an interview here. <br /><br />Citing the example of her 2019 film "Saand Ki Aankh", Pednekar said the box office collections are not in anyone's control. <br /><br />"It is all about whether the film is good or bad. I remember when I had done 'Saand Ki Aankh', which is a female-led film, compared to another film, which released on the same day, and it did overall business of Rs 350 crore. While my film did Rs 45 crore but our film was running in theatres for 100 days," she added. <br /><br />The beauty of cinema is that good work will always "be remembered and watched for generations", the actor said. <br /><br />"Films earn money but we hope people will come and watch our films. We don't take the pressure because certain things are not in our hands." <br /><br />"Thank You For Coming" is a coming-of-age comedy which follows the story of Kanika Kapoor (Pednekar), a single woman in her 30s, and her quest for true love and pleasure. It is written by Radhika Anand and Prashasti Singh and directed by Karan Boolani. <br /><br />The 34-year-old actor said the film's story uses female desire to explore the theme of patriarchy in society. <br /><br />"Orgasm is a metaphor for a larger scheme of things that the film talks about. The film is against patriarchy, it is not about man versus woman, because patriarchy is not gender specific. <br /><br />"Women and men both are patriarchal. That's the thought of the film. The film is about sisterhood, womanhood... Every film has a thought or a premise, so this is the premise of the film," she said. <br /><br />Pednekar, known for films such as "Dum Laga Ke Haisha", "Toilet: Ek Prem Katha", and "Shubh Mangal Saavdhan", said the cast stuck to the light-hearted tone of the story of "Thank You For Coming". <br /><br />"If we had not kept this tone of the film... We would not have been honest to what we have made. If we are making a film about female pleasure and if we are only shying to talk about it, then what's the point?" <br /><br />She hopes "Thank You For Coming" helps diminish the stigma around sexual liberation of women. <br /><br />"Till the time, 'Shubh Mangal Saavdhan' had not been released people would shy to talk about the topic of erectile dysfunction. It was an issue in families but one would not be able to talk about it, I believe that film eased the conservation. <br /><br />"I feel with this film ('Thank You For Coming'), female orgasm, female desire, and all this is one part of the film, these are small themes in the film, but there are more important things that the film comments about. It is a normal thing," she added.

Pandemic put a break on female-led movies, says Bhumi Pednekar

The iconic Sachin Tendulkar today celebrated his 43rd birthday by playing cricket with children from the ‘Make-A-Wish India’ organisation in the city, even as the fraternity wished him and waxed eloquence. <br /><br />

	Tendulkar spent some time with the children, teaching them the basics of batting, bowling and fielding at the MIG Club. He posted the same on his official Facebook page.

	Tendulkar retired from all forms of cricket in November 2013 during the Test match against West Indies at the Wankhede Stadium.

	Tendulkar is the leading run-scorer in Tests and ODIs. He is the only cricketer to have hit 100 international centuries, and the first to score a double century in ODIs.
<br /><br />

	Tendulkar received India’s highest civilian award Bharat Ratna from the President Pranav Mukherjee in 2014. He is the youngest recipient to date and the first ever sportsperson to receive the award.

New Delhi, The official trailer of Shah Rukh Khan-starrer "<keyword id="6363925" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="jawan" source="Orion">Jawan</keyword>" has arrived and it promises to take the fans on a ride filled with action, emotions and powerful dialogues. The trailer comes just seven days ahead of the Atlee directorial's release in three languages -- Hindi, Tamil and Telugu -- possibly the first instance for any mainstream movie. <br /><br />"Of Justice &amp; A Jawan. Of Women &amp; their Vengeance. Of a Mother &amp; A Son. And of course, a lot of Fun!!! Ready Ahhh!!! #JawanTrailer out now! #Jawan releasing worldwide on 7th September, 2023 in Hindi, Tamil &amp; Telugu," Shah Rukh posted on X, formerly Twitter, on Thursday. <br /><br />The trailer opens with shots of a wounded person floating on a river before he is rescued by a tribe. <br /><br />"Ek Raja tha, ek ke baad ek jung harta gaya. Bhookha, pyaasa ghum raha jungle me. Bohat gusse me tha," Shah Rukh's character says in the background. <br /><br />The next moment sees him taking commuters of a metro train hostage, along with his team, which includes Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani, Girija Oak, Sanjeeta Bhattacharya, Lehar Khan, and Aaliyah Qureshi. <br /><br />In one of the most cracky scenes, a voice from a handheld transceiver asks the actor, "What do you want?", to which he replies, "Chahiye to Alia Bhatt." <br /><br />And this is just the opening moments of the trailer, which offers a lot more to the fans than the movie's prevue, unveiled by the team in July. <br /><br />Throughout the trailer, Shah Rukh can be seen in multiple avatars, including one where he is sporting grey hair and another with a moustache. The variety of looks have inspired fan theories that the actor could be playing a double role in the movie. <br /><br />Nayanthara plays the cop who is tasked with bringing down Shah Rukh's vigilante character but in many moments, she is also seen romancing the actor. <br /><br />Actor Deepika Padukone also makes a special appearance and she is seen wrestling Shah Rukh to the ground in one of the scenes. <br /><br />The main antagonist is played by Vijay Sethupathi. His character is Kalee, who describes himself as the "fourth largest weapons dealer in the world". <br /><br />The trailer then takes a grim turn as it showcases plenty of gore, violence and bloodbath. <br /><br />Like Shah Rukh's blockbuster movie "Pathaan", "Jawan" also strikes a patriotic chord as the actor, donning the army uniform, is seen delivering the dialogue, "Hum Jawan hai. Apni jaan hazaar baar daav par laga sakte hai, lekin sirf desk ke liye.Tumhare jaise desh bechne walo ke liye hargis nahi. (I'm a soldier and I can give my life a thousand times, but only for the country, not for somone like you, who sell our country)." <br /><br />In one of the scenes, Shah Rukh's character makes and a grand entry with a cigar and a hammer. <br /><br />"Bete ko haath lagane se pehle, baap se baat kar (Before touching the son, deal with the father)," the character says.<br /><br />"Jawan" also stars Sunil Grover and Mukesh Chhabra in key roles. 'Jawan' trailer out: Shah Rukh Khan-starrer promises action, drama and punchy dialogues

Mujhe bhaut khushi hai. Mujhe awards bhaut ache lagte hai ...main thoda laalchi hu, greedy hu. (I thank jury who considered me worthy of the Best Actor award. <br /> Ruia was arrested on the basis of complaint of Railways ministry regarding theft of its goods worth Rs 50 crore which went missing from the <keyword id="335431" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jessop">Jessop</keyword> factory premises in <keyword id="230413" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Dum-Dum">Dum Dum</keyword> in the city, the officer said.<br />
<br /> He has been booked under <keyword id="6360844" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="IPC">IPC</keyword> sections 420 (cheating), 406 (Punishment for criminal breach of trust) and 409 (criminal breach of trust by public servant, or by banker, merchant or agent), the officer said.<br />

The Railways had filed an FIR with the Dum Dum Police Station after an inspection team found several equipment and coaches worth Rs 50 crore were missing from the factory premises at Dum Dum.<br />

The CID had summoned Ruia four times in the past in connection with its probe into a theft case in the Jessop factory in Dum Dum where a fire had broken out on October 17.<br />
<br />
A Special Investigating Team was formed by the CID to probe the theft at the factory premises.<br />
<br /> Ruia had moved <keyword id="6364869" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Calcutta-High-Court">Calcutta High Court</keyword> which refused to stay proceedings against him in connection with the case filed by the CID following the fire and directed him to cooperate in the investigation.<br />
<br /> Ruia had moved the High Court seeking quashing of the case filed against him by CID, claiming he is not the chairman of Jessop and he is neither the director nor a shareholder, or an occupier of <keyword id="3794215" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="jessop-and-co-ltd">Jessop and Co Ltd</keyword> or any of its premises.<br />
<br /> Former workers of the factory had alleged that the fire was part of a "conspiracy by a third party" following which the West <keyword id="6356978" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bengal">Bengal</keyword> government ordered a CID probe into the incident.<br />
<br /> Meanwhile, reacting to the development, Ruia group spokesperson said, "Pawan Ruia does not hold any position in <keyword id="572658" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jessop-Co-Ltd">Jessop &amp; Co Ltd</keyword>. He is neither a director, nor a shareholder of the company. He is not even an occupier of any Jessop premises. We fail to understand how can he be dragged into the case. We will contest all the charges brought against him at proper legal forum".<br />
<br /> The Bengal government had passed a bill to takeover <keyword id="161365" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Dunlop">Dunlop</keyword> and Jessop earlier this year and for the last eight months the state government is paying Rs 10,000 per month on an ad hoc basis.

<p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>People are queuing at a Shoreditch doughnut shop to get their hands on a&#xa0;Crone:&#xa0;a cone made out of a baked croissant-doughnut dough that's loaded with ice cream and sweet toppings.<p>London's latest dessert craze is being&#xa0;sold at <a href="http://dumdums.co.uk/" target="_blank">Dum Dum Doughnutterie</a> in Boxpark Shoreditch from&#xa0;July 7,&#xa0;after a successful launch at the doughnut shop in Camden Market on June 30.</p><p>The first 50 customers to arrive at the Shoreditch shop from&#xa0;11.30 a.m. were given a free Crone.</p><p>Within 24 minutes, all 50 of the desserts were gone. There are now around 100 left on sale, priced at £5 each.</p><p>The treats is available in three variations: banoffee (vanilla ice cream with salted caramel syrup, bananas, and digestive biscuit), chocolate (chocolate ice cream with Belgian chocolate, toasted coconut flakes, and dark chocolate syrup), and "very berry" (strawberry ice cream with blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, and white chocolate syrup).</p><p>They look like this:</p><p><div>    </div><div>    </div><div>    </div></p><p>Of the three flavours, "very berry" is the most popular with customers so far.</p><p>The Crone's creator, doughnut chef Paul Hurley, has made other calorific desserts in the past, including a massive, deep-fried doughnut and the Dubai Doughnut, a baked doughnut loaded with Karak tea and topped with cinammon, pistachio, and a rosewater glaze, <a href="http://metro.co.uk/2016/07/05/the-croissant-doughnut-ice-cream-cone-the-crone-has-landed-in-the-uk-5986338/" target="_blank">according to Metro</a>.</p><p>"I always try and look at products and flavours from a different angle so we can create unique products," Hurley told Business Insider over email. Former <keyword id="7349800" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="bharatpe" source="Orion">BharatPe</keyword> Founder and CEO <keyword id="2988161" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="ashneer-grover" source="Orion">Ashneer Grover</keyword> has written his memoir called 'Doglapan' (double standards) - the Hard Truth about Life and Start-ups' which is available for pre-order and will be available next month.<br /><br />Billed as an "unfettered story of <keyword id="12917061" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="ashneer" source="Orion">Ashneer</keyword> Grover - the favourite and misunderstood poster boy of Startup India", the memoir is being called a "raw, gut-wrenching in its honesty and completely from the heart, storytelling at its finest".<br /><br />"Is kitab ko padhne ke baad ya to aap ek dum apni naukri chhod doge ya fir zindagi bhar naukri hi karoge. At least beech mein nahi phase rahoge (After reading this book, you will either quit your job or continue to only be in jobs your whole life. At least, you won't be stuck in the middle)," Grover said in a tweet on Friday.<br /><br />On Friday, he again tweeted: "So overnight my autobiography has become #1 Best Seller. And SOLD OUT as well !! Former BharatPe founder Ashneer Grover pens memoir called 'Doglapan'

<br />New Delhi, One of India's most creative chefs who put nawabi <keyword id="19945772" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="lucknow" source="keywords">Lucknow</keyword>'s <keyword id="20612438" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="dum-pukht" source="keywords">Dum Pukht</keyword> cuisine on the world map, and also became the first practising member of his fraternity to ever get a Padma Shri in 2016, Imtiaz <keyword id="19974186" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="qureshi" source="keywords">Qureshi</keyword>, passed away on Friday at the age of 93. <br /><br />An unlettered cook who started working from the age of nine, Qureshi, who was known for his trademark handlebar moustache, Santa Claus-like personality and the chaste Urdu in which he would narrate his stories from the kitchen, was famous for inventing dishes whose ideas he would pick up from conversations with his patrons and fellow professionals.<br /><br />His influences and inspirations extended from the empress of ghazals, Begum Akhtar, for whom he invented a dessert named Lab-e-Mahshoukh, or pista kulfi drizzled with a sour cherry sauce, to <keyword id="20612440" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="roger-moncourt" source="keywords">Roger Moncourt</keyword>, the French chef who ruled the Continental kitchens of Delhi, from whom he picked up the secrets of the sauces that give French cuisine its distinctive personality.<br /><br />Qureshi started out training to be a pehelwan but ended up as an apprentice to his ustads, Haji Ishtiyaq and Ghulam Rasool, and started working with a Lucknow-based catering company that was serving the Indian Army during the Chinese War in 1962.<br /><br />It was then that Qureshi got to serve Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, who was being hosted by the Uttar Pradesh chief minister, C.B. Gupta. To make the occasion special, and out of respect for Gupta's vegetarian sensibilities, Qureshi, who's best known for mutton and fish dishes, invented the Turush-e-Paneer, escalopes of cottage cheese stuffed with dried plum and oranges, quilted in a tomato plum sauce.<br /><br />As the fame of his culinary prowess spread, he moved up the professional totem pole, being hired by Lucknow's then go-to hotel, Clarks Avadh, and then being head-hunted by Ajit Haksar, the founder of ITC Hotels, for the group's new address in New Delhi -- Maurya Sheraton. And from there, he travelled the world, winning accolades wherever he went.<br /><br />At the Maurya, Qureshi became instantly famous. Diwan Gautam Anand, who was banquet manager when the chef was in his element, remembers how the nation's high and mighty would shower gifts on Qureshi in recognition of his food, which was then a novelty in the Butter Chicken-soaked national capital.<br /><br />According to Anand, Qureshi was indeed a self-taught powerhouse of culinary talent, but what made him stand apart was his 'milansar' personality, which enabled him to soak in whatever knowledge anyone had to offer.<br /><br />Anand remembers how Qureshi once came back excited from a dinner he had curated for the Afghan ambassador because he had discovered the brinjal dish known as 'badin jaan'. Overnight, he recreated it for Dum Pukht, the restaurant at the Maurya Sheraton, that became synonymous with the master chef and a standard-bearer for Indian fine dining.<br /><br />Dum Pukht's Badin Jaan consists of wheels of smoked brinjal with a spiced tomato topping and a smooth, creamy spiced yoghurt sauce.<br /><br />It was at Dum Pukht that the jugalbandi of the doyen of food writers, the late Jiggs Kalra, and Qureshi created sensations such as the Kakori Kabab (the melt-in-the-mouth version of the chunky mutton seekh kabab), with Kalra inventing the story of the toothless nawab in its honour, the signature Dum Biryani, and umami-packed gravy dishes such as the Koh-i-Awadh, the 'paya' reinvented with lamb shanks, and Mahi Dum Pukht, red snapper fillet cooked in an almond and brown onion sauce.<br /><br />He had created this dish first for the wedding of a Mumbai socialite's daughter in 1972 and he gave it a Bengali twist a couple of decades later with his Mahi Qaliya, where rohu fish cooked in mustard oil is the base ingredient, for a Kolkata-based news baron.<br /><br />With the passing of Imtiaz Qureshi, India has lost a chef who not only gave Indian fine dining a new lease of life and a personality of its own, but also, despite being unlettered, became its finest and most colourful spokespersons around the world.<br />
