The pensioner can book the service through a mobile app named ‘Doorstep Banking’ or website or toll-free number. The toll free number is 18001213721 or 18001037188. <br /><br />A nominal fee would be levied on the pensioner who avails this service.<br /><br />2. <strong>Doorstep service for life certificate submission via postman</strong><br /><br />The Department of Posts along with the Ministry of Electronics rolled out the Doorstep Service for submission of Digital Life Certificates through the postman. India's 'FIA Global' pivotal to Nepal's growing GDP in 2022

New Delhi, Feb 26 () Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday assured bankers that they will not be hauled up for genuine commercial decisions even if the call goes wrong due to business reasons.<p> She, however, added that the decision taken with malafide intension will be dealt as per the law.</p><p> "They are at least now reassured that the government is repeatedly making distinction between vigilance based decisions and those which are not. We have made it very clear that genuine commercial decisions even if they have gone wrong because businesses went down are not going to be held against their decision making at all," she said.</p><p> Addressing heads of public sector banks here, the Finance Minister said bankers have gone through period of churning starting with Asset Quality Review in 2015 leading to some disorientation among them.</p><p> "So many things have to be reset, so many things have to be reoriented and till today, many of us still feel we need to give that extra push to people move forward with that without fear or without any suspicion in their minds that the intent with which that they working is well meant, well intended and therefore it is done with certain sense of professionalism and nothing more to worry about," she said.</p><p> The Prime Minister has spoken with great sense of assurance that there will be a clear, divide between genuine commercial decisions which banks are taking and which is critical to running and banks, as different from those in which they could be vigilance angle, she said. </p><p>She also urged bankers to give emphasis on branch based banking and improve customer ease. </p><p>"Even today, when people come to meet me, they've been voicing worries about how at branch level we can be a bit more friendlier," she said. </p><p>Coming back to branch-level banking, she said branches are now losing personal touch which needs to be restored. </p><p>Customers expects that little level of touch from bankers, she added. </p><p>Observing that ratings from credit rating agencies are not advisory, she said it is just an indicator of a customer. </p><p>So the decision solely based on the advice of a credit rating agency should not be taken. </p><p>"Was there ever a directive from either the Reserve Bank of India or Indian Banks' Association to say that you will blindly follow the rating agencies figures or numbers given to you. No," she said. </p><p> The finance minister also wanted banks to sensitise bankers about the government schemes at the branch level even if they are not concerned.</p><p> Meanwhile, the finance minister unveiled EASE 3.0, the Public Sector Bank (PSB) Reforms Agenda 2020-21 for smart, tech-enabled banking, and the PSB EASE Reforms Annual Report 2019-20. </p><p>EASE 3.0 seeks to enhance ease of banking in all customer experiences, using technology, FinTech, alternate data and analytics.</p><p> Dial-a-loan for doorstep loan facilitation, Credit@click for end-to-end digitalised lending, on-the-spot EASE Banking Outlets at well-frequented places like malls and stations, palm banking, digitalised branch experience are part of a wide array of tech-enabled ease enhancements that PSBs would effect during FY2020-21.</p><p> At the launch function organised by Indian Banks' Association, individual PSBs gave a preview of the array of tech-enabled services that are in the pipeline or have been piloted and will be scaled up over the coming year across PSBs. </p><p> UCO Bank unveiled its plans for customers to obtain via app, portal or call centre, Doorstep Banking Services offered collectively by PSBs as 'PSB Alliance', for services such as pick-up of cheques and income-tax exemption certificates and delivery of income-tax challan, drafts and account statements in major cities across India. </p><p> State Bank of India showcased Shishu e-Mudra app-based lending for instant sanction of working capital up to Rs 50,000 to existing small business customers of the bank and the bank announced its plan to scale up sanctioning through the app to Rs 1 lakh in branch-assist mode. </p><p> Union Bank of India gave a preview of its app for end-to-end digitalised lending to MSMEs of up to Rs 50 crore, which it proposes to roll out during the coming year.</p>  Bank of Baroda showcased its tablet-based Tab Banking services for doorstep account-opening, including in villages and for migrant labourers in industrial units, and has created capacity for opening about 10,000 accounts per day. Something's brewing in Central Asia and the West 'needs to take this seriously'

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>There's no question that the Ukraine conflict has led Russia to shift more toward China - but that doesn't mean that everything is smooth sailing for the two countries.</p><p>One of the major byproducts of Moscow pulling toward Beijing will be "expanded" cooperation in Central Asia, <a href="http://www.ecfr.eu/page/-/ECFR126_-_A_Soft_Alliance_Russia-China_Relations_After_the_Ukraine_Crisis.pdf">according to Alexander Gabuev</a>, a <a href="https://twitter.com/alexgabuev">senior associate</a> and chair of the Russia in Asia-Pacific Program at Carnegie Moscow Center.</p><p>"It is Inner Asia - Afghanistan, Mongolia, and the five post-Soviet states of Central Asia - that is likely to see the most impact from the deepening of Sino-Russia integration," writes <a href="https://twitter.com/dmitritrenin">Dmitri Trenin</a>, the director of Carnegie Moscow Center, in <a href="http://carnegie.ru/publications/?fa=59728#">a paper on the Sino-Russo entente</a>.</p><p>"What is likely to emerge is a trade and investment zone covering all of central, northern, and eastern Eurasia. With China as its powerhouse, this area can be called Greater Asia - from Shanghai, its business center, to St. Petersburg, its outpost at Europe's doorstep."</p><p>Already we've seen several Beijing-led and Moscow-endorsed notable initiatives such as the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/china-is-planning-to-rebuild-the-silk-road-and-transform-global-trade-routes-2015-4">Silk Road Economic Belt</a>, the development of the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/russia-has-a-crucial-advantage-over-the-us-in-the-arctic-2015-4">Northern Sea Route</a>, a <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/russia-builds-moscow-to-beijing-high-speed-train-2014-12">high-speed rail link</a> that will connect Moscow to Beijing, and the <a href="http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/int/sco.htm">Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO)</a>.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>"Putin's vision of a 'greater Europe' from Lisbon to Vladivostok, made up of the European Union and the Russian-led Eurasian Economic Union, is being replaced by a 'greater Asia' from Shanghai to St. Petersburg," writes Trenin.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image"></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>However, despite the infrastructure projects and political cooperation, it's not all smiles in Central Asia.</p><p>"Mutually useful and apparently friendly with each other, the 'has-been superpower' and the 'wannabe great power' are engaged in a contest for primacy in Eurasia," <a href="http://thediplomat.com/2015/06/unequal-partners-china-and-russia-in-eurasia/">writes Anita Inder Singh</a>, a visiting professor at the Centre for Peace and Conflict Resolution in New Delhi, in The Diplomat.</p><p>"As Russia turns its strategic axis eastwards it is struggling to maintain its influence in Central Asia - while China is moving westwards with the intent of becoming a great Eurasian power."</p><p>The tension arises out of the fact that China's become the main moneylender in Russia's backyard (which is composed of states that were formally in the Soviet Union that have been heavily integrated with Russia since the 1991 collapse.) At the same time, financially strained Russia can't offer the same "largesse and investment" as Beijing.</p><p>And China's investments in Kazakh energy "annoy Russia," <span>according to Singh, </span>and Turkmenistan (the fourth-largest holder of gas reserves) "seeks new report routes to minimize its dependence on oil pipeline in Russia." </p><p>Singh adds that the post-Soviet states "fear that Russia could use the EEU to bully them and make them dependent on a collapsing ruble," writes Singh. (Notably, we've already seen Kazakhstan <a href="http://www.rferl.org/content/kazakhstan-rejects-moscvows-single-currency-proposal/26972232.html">reject</a> Russia's single currency proposal.)<br><br><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div><span style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 1.5em;">Nevertheless, "Russia, in particular, supports Chinese economic activities and Russian officials and analysts posit a distinct division of labor that both sides are comfortable with: China provides economic investment, while Russia provides security and exerts political influence." </span><a href="http://www.uscc.gov/sites/default/files/Cooley%20Testimony_3.18.15.pdf">writes Alexander Cooley</a><span style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 1.5em;">, a professor at Barnard College.</span></br></br></p><p>But this split between political and economic doesn't always line up nicely. As Cooley points out, Russia has "quietly opposed or dragged its feet on nearly every major economic initiative" that China's proposed within the SCO.</p><p>"Russia is reluctant to further empower China, even in a multilateral setting, as it prefers instead to promote its own regional economic architectures," such as the Eurasian Economic Union or the Russian-Kazakh Eurasian Development Bank, according to <a href="http://www.uscc.gov/sites/default/files/Cooley%20Testimony_3.18.15.pdf">Cooley</a>.</p><p>"Beijing in private has grown frustrated with this Russian reticence, but, undeterred, China has continued its economic activities bilaterally," he <a href="http://www.uscc.gov/sites/default/files/Cooley%20Testimony_3.18.15.pdf">adds</a>. <br><br><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div><span style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 1.5em;">That being said, China knows that it has to publically present its relationship with Russia as a "friendship of equals" right now, as it will help it achieve its economic and political aims in the region and globally.</span></br></br></p><p>"Within the SCO, Russia enjoys an informal co-leadership role alongside China. Beijing also respects Moscow's red-lines on establishing political alliances and military bases in the former Soviet space," <span>Trenin writes in his paper on the Sino-Russo entente. "</span>This contrasts starkly with the Western policies of NATO and the EU enlargement in the former Soviet borderlands in Eastern Europe.</p><p>"A submissive Russia will give China more resources to prepare itself for the ultimate struggle for great-power status in Asia-Pacific.
