It’s time India got over the fake Diwali picture

The <keyword id="517746" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-space-agency" source="Orion">Indian space agency</keyword> on Saturday at 12.07 a.m. began the 24-hour countdown for the launch of its heavy-lift rocket GSLV Mk III - renamed for this mission as LVM3 M2 - carrying 36 'OneWeb' satellites. The 43.5 metre tall and weighing 644 ton LVM3 M2 rocket is scheduled to blast off from the first second pad at India's rocket port in Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh at 12.07 a.m. on Sunday. "The countdown is in progress smoothly. The gas charging and propellant filling operations of L110 stage are progressing," an Indian Space Research Organisation (<keyword id="6358064" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="isro" source="Orion">ISRO</keyword>) official told IANS. During the countdown, the rocket and satellite systems will be checked. The fuel for the rocket will also be filled. Normally the <keyword id="517231" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="GSLV-rocket" source="Orion">GSLV rocket</keyword> is used for launching India's geostationary communication satellites. And hence it was named as GeoSynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV). The GSLV MkIII refers to the third generation rocket. As the rocket that will fly on Sunday morning will be orbiting the OneWeb satellites in Low Earth Orbit (LEO), the ISRO has renamed GSLV MkIII as LVM3 (Launch Vehicle MkIII). The rocket, just over 19 minutes into its flight, will sling the 36 small broadband communication satellites of Network Access Associated Ltd (OneWeb) in LEO. OneWeb, is a joint venture between India Bharti Global and the UK government. The satellite company plans to have a constellation of about 650 satellites in low earth orbit (LEO) to offer communication services. The LVM3 M2 is a three stage rocket with the first stage fired with liquid fuel, the two strap on motors powered by solid fuel, the second by liquid fuel and the third is the cryogenic engine. The ISRO's heavy lift rocket has a carrying capacity of 10 ton to the LEO and four ton to the Geo Transfer Orbit (GTO). "The total launch mass of OneWeb satellites will be 5,796 kg," said ISRO. The 36 satellites will be on a dispenser system made by the Swiss based Beyond Gravity, formerly RUAG Space. The Beyond Gravity had earlier provided the satellite dispensers for launching 428 OneWeb satellites to Arianespace. "The dispenser with 36 satellites was supplied by the vendor. It was used in all their earlier launches," the official told IANS. For Beyond Gravity, this is the first time their dispenser is fitted in an Indian rocket. Starting in 1999, ISRO has put into orbit 345 foreign satellites till date. The successful launch of 36 OneWeb satellites will take the tally to 381. Another set of 36 satellites from OneWeb is planned to be put into orbit in January 2023. This launch brings OneWeb's constellation to 462 satellites, more than 70 per cent of the satellites required for OneWeb to reach global coverage. According to ISRO, the OneWeb Constellation operates in a LEO Polar Orbit. The satellites are arranged in 12 rings (Orbital planes) with 49 satellites in each plane. The orbital planes are inclined to be near polar (87.9 Degree) and at 1,200 km above the Earth. Each satellite completes a full trip around the earth every 109 minutes. The earth is rotating underneath satellites, so they will always be flying over new locations on the ground. The constellation will have 648 satellites. NewSpace India Ltd (NSIL), the commercial arm of ISRO, has signed two contracts with Network Access Associated Ltd (OneWeb) for launching the latter's broadband communication satellites in low earth orbit. The board of OneWeb had voted to suspend satellite launches from the Baikonur rocket port in Russia. Meanwhile, the Sunday rocket mission has several firsts for the Indian space sector. It is the first commercial launch of GSLV MkIII and for the first time an Indian rocket will be ferrying a payload of about six tonnes. Similarly, the OneWeb is using an Indian rocket to put its satellites into orbit for the first time. Also, it is the first commercial launch of GSLV MkIII contracted by NSIL, and for the first time a renamed GSLV MkIII is being used for launching satellites in LEO. An automated spacecraft docked with China's new space station carrying fuel and supplies for its future crew, the Chinese space agency announced. Tianzhou-2 spacecraft reached the <keyword id="2999464" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tianhe">Tianhe</keyword> station eight hours after blasting off from Hainan, an island in the South China Sea, China Manned Space said. It carried space suits, living supplies and equipment and fuel for the station. <ul><li>As the year draws to a close, it is important to pause and reflect.</li><li>We speak to industry leaders about the year gone by and a few lessons they learnt from 2021.</li></ul>It was during the peak of the pandemic in 2020 when doctors across the world were still trying to figure out what the novel Coronavirus is, I lost my grandmother. Shortly after, my father tested positive for the virus. His oxygen dropped to 78 mm. We struggled to find a bed for him and found a hospital 50 kms away. He was still mourning the loss of his mother, fighting a deadly virus, struggling to form sentences but he had a huge smile on his face when I taught him how to video call on WhatsApp. He was there for two weeks but those weeks definitely felt like a decade to me. I had the nurse's number on my speed dial, I called her first thing in the morning to ask, "How is my father breathing today? Has his oxygen picked up?" She would respond patiently, "Yes, we are doing our best." To escape from this, I buried myself in work, binge-watched violent movies to numb the pain I was actually feeling. After we heard the news that he is coming back, we decorated the house. I put up some fairy lights, made a rangoli, bought his favourite sweets -- Kaju Katli. After all, we were welcoming Ram back into his home right before Diwali. It took me a while to process the horrendous month that I had spent. Thankfully, I had a very supportive team at work. I remember texting my editor a week later, "I will be submitting my story late today, I am too anxious and panicked." She responded, "Sure, take your time, Karuna." So, if 2020 was about self-isolation, making sure our older family members stay safe and prioritizing their physical health, 2021 taught me the importance of mental health. After months of working from home -- away from our loved ones, seeing the country battle a deadly virus and our medical industry getting crippled, 2021 was all about healing from the storm. It was about finding comfort in little wins and reminding ourselves that we are all in this together. Change can be scary, sure, and not knowing what the future holds is scarier, but resilience is stronger. As we enter a new year with a lot of uncertainty yet again because no one knows what variants COVID-19 will throw at us, it is important to remember that we have survived the worst. By now, we know what works and what doesn’t. The impact of 2020 and 2021 will be felt next year too but remember to take care of yourself first if you want to be able to show up for other people too. And most importantly, double mask up, people! The unplanned conversations. The energy. So much of the learning and inspiration as well. We lost something elemental and beautiful. I want that back. I miss it. Equally, I learnt how much more we need to do to listen to each other more deeply. The stuff we read off each other, the non-verbal cues. The comfort of a safe environment where one can be heard without judgement. That was gone. There’s also the realization that, perhaps, the old ways were inadequate. When we’re back together, we need to design ways without assuming that everyone is comfortable expressing themselves in the same way. We need to do more to create that space. This is what I have missed and what I have learnt. My hope is to enjoy coming back together again in 2022 and doing so in a way where each of us can be heard. Ashish Khazanchi, Managing Partner, Enormous: The pandemic was a true test of character of people, teams and organisations. While there certainly was a big drop in businesses and toplines, what was at stake was organisations' humanity. People in organisations everywhere dealt with the kind of uncertainty they never were faced before. Uncertainty of livelihoods, careers and sanity amidst surmounting work pressures. The better organisations, in my opinion, made sure that their people were taken care of at least as much as their businesses. When the specter of lockdowns was a little bit behind us, we saw a simple trend both in terms of people and companies. The ones with initiative thrived even in the midst of a terrible external situation. Anyone who did not take easy ways out, like the typical bottomline managers do, by cutting costs rather than working on newer avenues of organisational growth, are going to be the true hero companies of tomorrow. They've tasted success and now when the tides are turning, they're going to be unputdownable. 2022 will see business return to near normal, I would predict the number of pitches to go through the roof from about March. The ones with the best people and processes and creative products, will win 2022 by a mile. Culture is the ethos - the unsaid but universally accepted codes of what’s ‘done’ and what’s ‘not done.' The culture of your company should take most of your time. And it’s more than worth it. 5 things I learnt as a person: 1. Reinvest in relationships- It took a pandemic for me to take a long, hard look at my relationship. And I realised that I have taken a lot for granted. Money won’t buy you your loved ones. Spend time with them. 2. Take care of yourself - Eat well, exercise and sleep for eight hours. You will enjoy life a lot more if you are fit. 3. Be kind to yourself- I am less critical of myself today than I was in 2019. I am comfortable in my skin and happy where I am. Could I have done better? I don’t know. And I don’t care. 4. Invest in yourself - Learn a new skill. Learn a new language. Take up new hobbies. Add new facets to your personality. Reinvent yourself. <ul><li>The retail arm of Reliance has posted an operating profit of ₹2062 crore, up by 19.8% from ₹1,721 crore in the same quarter the previous year. </li><li><keyword id="58448" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Reliance-Retail">Reliance Retail</keyword> also saw its revenue jump from ₹36,663 crore in Q4FY19 to ₹38,211 crore in Q4FY20. </li><li>The company also added 9% to the total retail space in the last three months. </li></ul>Reliance Retail has posted an operating profit of ₹2062 crore, up by 19.8% from the same quarter the previous year. It reportedly plans to account for 50% of all online phone sales in the month leading up to <keyword id="188" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="20" keywordseo="Diwali">Diwali</keyword> in early November.</li></ul> India’s homegrown e-commerce giant is all prepared to defend its turf this festive season. Flipkart’s online retail platform, Flipkart Internet, has received an infusion of nearly $500 million (₹35 billion) from a holding company in Singapore ahead of its Big Billion Days (BBD) sale in the second week of October. When Walmart purchased a 77% stake in Flipkart for $16 billion earlier this year, it said that the deal would include an equity infusion of $2 billion. With regards to the upcoming festive season, Flipkart will use the cash infusion for a number of things. Offering deeper discounts for one, is a huge priority. Flipkart will focus on discounts for sales of mobile phones, a category it currently dominates. With the launch of 20 new models and a buyback guarantee scheme, it reportedly plans to account for 50% of all online phone sales in the month leading up to Diwali in early November. In addition, Flipkart will likely allocate a portion of the investment to logistics operations to ensure quicker delivery of goods. It is also planning a big push for the in-house labels on its retail platform like electronics brand SmartBuy and furniture label Perfect Homes. With roughly $1.5 billion worth of sales from its five-day long BBD programme in 2017, Flipkart was able to beat Amazon. However, the feat might be tougher to pull off this year.
