The commercial could shine more light on an athlete many in the sports world believe is relatively unknown, considering his lofty place in his sport.</p><p>Trout spoke to Business Insider to promote his partnership with BodyArmor and discussed his new deal, MLB's controversial free agency, expectations for the Angels, and more.</p><p><em>This interview has been lightly edited and condensed for length and clarity.</em></p><p><strong>Scott Davis: </strong>Why did you choose BodyArmor? They're racking up quite a roster of athletes.</p><p><strong>Mike Trout: </strong>Yeah, obviously I've been partnering with them for a few years now. Obviously, with guys at the top like Kobe [Bryant], what more, I mean, it's self-explanatory having Kobe. I love to represent BodyArmor and be a part of it. It's something special. How natural was your dancing on-camera? Did you nail the moves in one take, or did it take you a few to get them down?</p><p><strong>Trout: </strong>I mean, I'm not a real good dancer. It took me a little bit of takes, but I think it was respectable. It wasn't like too long. People were asking me how was it, I said, it was definitely out of my comfort zone. But after it was all done, it was a fun - it turned out great. I had a great time. Had some fun with it. It was pretty cool.</p><p>&#xa0;</p><p><strong>Davis: </strong>People say that, relative to your position in baseball as one of the game's best players, you aren't all that famous or as recognizable as maybe you should be. Even Commissioner Rob Manfred said you had to put yourself out there more. Obviously, there's opportunities for me to do stuff. I don't do all of them. I gotta make sure that going out and playing is my top priority and let everything else fall from there.</p><p>But I try to do as much as I can. When BodyArmor came to me with this ad ... I had really never done anything like this before. It's definitely out of my comfort zone. I think when it all came down to it, after it was said and done, I really enjoyed it.&#xa0;</p><p><strong>Davis: </strong>You signed a big, new deal with the Angels. Is there a big first purchase you want to make after signing it?</p><p><strong>Trout: </strong>Nah, there's not a big purchase that's on top of my head. I'm just excited, really. Excited to be here, and obviously looking forward to the next 12 years.</p><p><strong>Davis: </strong>Did you talk to Bryce Harper after signing the deal? Was he mad you took the shine from him so quickly for the game's biggest deal?</p><p><strong>Trout: </strong>I talked to him. It's the way baseball works. Obviously you got top guys in the league that deserve some money,&#xa0;and they got, obviously, Bryce got paid a lot, Manny got paid a lot. We got a lot of extensions. Obviously after when no one signed, then I signed, and then you had [Justin] Verlander, you had [Jacob] deGrom, a lot of big-name guys. [Blake] Snell. It's good for baseball. Terrill/AP</span></p><p class="caption">Angels owner Artie Moreno made Mike Trout an Angel for life.</p></img></div><p></p></div></div><p><strong>Davis: </strong>What stuck out to you most as you were negotiating with the Angels that made you want to stay there for the next 12 years?</p><p><strong>Trout: </strong>I think, obviously, being here for eight years now, the relationship that's grown between [GM] Billy [Eppler] and his time here and [team president John] Carpino's been here the whole time and [Angels owner] Artie [Moreno], just knowing the direction and knowing that they're all about the players. They come to me. They come to other guys on the team for advice, seeing if it's good for the team, seeing what we need to do to help the team get better. I think that's huge for me. The relationship and the communication was also big for me. I saw that with them, and that definitely helped me and my wife in that decision.</p><p><strong>Davis: </strong>How did free agency affect your decision to sign this extension? I know you called it a red flag before, with some of the players taking a long time to sign. How did it impact your view?</p><p><strong>Trout: </strong>I think it definitely was in the back of my mind. I think you see it nowadays with all these extensions. People want to stay away from free agency. You don't - it was just weird to me that you've got top guys on the market that don't have a team that you would want - for me, I'd wanna build my team around - and you know, just waited so long. They missed a little bit of spring training. I just think it was a tough few months for them. I don't think anybody wanted to go through what they were going through, obviously. Because they're top guys in the league, and it definitely, in the back of my mind, it was definitely there. Like I said, with Harper and Machado, they're guys ... top of the league the last few years, [teams] should wanna bid on a guy like that.</p><p><strong>Davis: </strong>Going forward, how do you manage expectations?</p><p><strong>Trout: </strong>My expectations? Obviously, it's been on my radar the last few years to get to the playoffs. People come up to me saying, "When are you gonna get to the playoffs?" It'd be big for me to obviously, the next 12 years, get there, then win a championship. That's the goal. It's pretty impressive that he gets Tommy John [surgery] - usually, a guy that gets Tommy John loses the whole year - but he can come back and DH. I'm sure he's gonna do well. He's swinging the ball well right now in the cages.</p><p>I don't know the exact date when he gets back, but we're looking forward to it. Having him in the lineup changes everything. You saw what he can do last year, and he's gonna be that much better this year.</p><p><strong>Davis: </strong>Are there any personal records you'd like to break in your career?</p><p><strong>Trout: </strong>I really haven't even thought about it. Obviously being here, being with one team your whole career, it's gonna be hopefully down the road, but I haven't really thought about that yet.</p><p><strong>Davis: </strong>Are there any rule changes you'd like to see in baseball?</p><p><strong>Trout: </strong>People ask me this all the time. There's not one thing that I can say that I like or I would change. Put it that way. Like I said, I go out there, and we've been playing this game the same way for some years now. But yeah, that's where I stand. <p>"Disco Night Sept 11," an upcoming photography book from <a href="http://www.petervanagtmael.net/">Peter van Agtmael</a>, documents how the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq have affected U.S. citizens and soldiers.</p>
<p>Agtmael covered the consequences of America's wars, both at home and abroad, from 2006 to 2013. During that time he strove to re-inject the realities of the wars into America's national consciousness. His photographs provide a very human perspective to a series of wars that are often lacking a human face in the media.</p>

I walked over to the motor pool as a column of Strykers rolled in. A few soldiers hurried past me, their faces tightly drawn. I joined the next patrol heading into town and was told there had been a suicide bombing. Nine people had been killed and twenty-three wounded in a crowded cafe´ during the breakfast hour. The vehicles stopped down the street from the blast site, and we walked to the gaping hole in the otherwise quiet block. The Abu-Ali restaurant was shattered. The soldiers had stopped by the restaurant many times for sugary tea or a chat with the friendly owner. Now bits of flesh and scorched food, splinters of furniture and crockery choked the floor. The streets were empty except for a few curious bystanders. The patrol moved to the hospital to check on the victims. Ali, the owner, lay shriveled on one of the beds. In her father's home, Rosie remembered her life with Ricketts. They had met in church. She was the preacher's daughter; Seth was the wild one. The day before he left for basic training, they confessed their feelings for each other. When Seth came back, he asked her father for permission to date her. They married in 2005. After he'd come back from several difficult tours, they tried to have a conversation about what to do if he was killed. He told her, "I'm invincible. Nothing's going to happen to me." The temporary coffin carrying Ricketts arrived at Dover Air Force Base on March 2. Dover is the first stop for dead soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, and their families are often on hand to attend a brief, solemn ceremony as the flag-wrapped cases are removed from the plane and brought to the mortuary. The ban on media coverage of these transfers, in place during the Bush Administration, was lifted in February 2009 when Secretary of <keyword id="6354810" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Defense">Defense</keyword> Robert Gates ruled it should be up to the families of the fallen to decide whether the press should be allowed to photograph the return of their loved ones. The Afghans drifted down the road warily. The radio picked up chatter amongst the Taliban suggesting another bomb was hidden in the road. At gunpoint the commander questioned the men. To one old man he yelled "That bomb went off because you didn't stop them." The man responded pleadingly, "I don't know anything, so how could I stop it." The commander waved him off, "Alright, get away from here, alright." After questioning the elders, the Marines lined them up and told them to march in a line across the road back to the town. The Marines followed cautiously behind. As reporter Dexter Filkins and I began documenting the impromptu human shield, the Marine commander halted the patrol and decided to return to base. <p>"Everyone is against it here," said Carlos Bravo of the Blue Sea Alliance, an umbrella organization of 50 groups including environmentalists, hoteliers and unions, seeking to halt oil exploration off Ibiza and Formentera, a neighboring island that is only accessible by boat.</p>
<p>More than 10,000 people, some carrying signs saying "The Mediterranean is not for sale", marched in February through the streets of the capital Ibiza Town against the planned exploration.</p>
<p>Their campaign has the backing of celebrities like US socialite Paris Hilton and British model Kate Moss who are regular visitors to Ibiza, one of Europe's top tourist destinations which is famous for its nightclubs and turquoise waters.</p>
<p>"Ibiza is in danger. It is not a myth, not a metaphor and not an exaggeration. The island is facing an ecological disaster," Hilton wrote on her Instagram page earlier this year.</p>
<p>Moss has signed a petition urging the Spanish government not to allow the oil prospecting to go ahead, and posted a photo of herself holding a sign that read "Ibiza Says No" to her 32.8 million Twitter followers.</p>
<p>The project dates back to 2010 when British firm Cairn Energy obtained four exploration licenses for the waters around the Balearic Islands, one of which is Ibiza.</p>
<p>The company now plans to use seismic imaging, which bounces sound waves off the ocean floor, to map pockets of underground oil in the region before it applies for government permits to start drilling.</p>
<p>Cairn Energy said it will carry out the seismic imaging over 2,400 square kilometres (930 square miles), an area roughly the size of Luxembourg, 53 kilometres (32 miles) from Ibiza.</p>
<p>"The company is currently at the very early stages of assessing whether to explore for hydrocarbons," it said in a statement, before adding that the seismic imaging will take place "at a time when any impact will be at a minimum, most likely in the winter months".</p>
<h3>- Noise threatens marine life -</h3>
<p>Environmentalists warn the sonic shocks used in seismic imaging are a threat to marine life.</p>
<p>The deep waters around the Balearic Islands are home to the endangered bluefin tuna, the striped dolphin, the long-finned pilot whale and sperm whales.</p>
<p>"Cetaceans are very sensible to noise. This will interfere with their capacity to communicate and search for food," said Txema Brotons, the president of Tursiops, a research and conservation group based in the Balearic Islands.</p>
<p>The seismic imaging will use airguns that produce a loud sound every 10 seconds, round-the-clock, for 75 days, said Bravo of the Blue Sea Alliance.</p>
<p>"They generate a huge noise level, 10,000 to 100,000 times louder than the engine of an plane, which seriously harms fish, cetaceans, turtles and invertebrates," said Bravo.</p>
<p>Local fishermen fear the seismic imaging will ruin their catches.</p>
<p>"Cetaceans, fish and their larvae... they are all going to leave," said Pere Valera, the head of Ibiza's main fishermen's group.</p>
<p>"We have seen what has happened elsewhere, there was a 70 percent reduction in catches after seismic imaging."</p>
<h3>- 'Islands' oil is tourism' -</h3>
<p>Opponents also fear that oil exploration will hurt tourism in Ibiza, the main source of revenues for the island which is an UNESCO World Heritage Site.</p>
<p>"The Balearic Islands' oil is tourism," said the head of the islands' regional government, Jose Ramon Bauza, who belongs to the conservative Popular Party in power at Spain's national level.</p>
<p>Of all the advanced economies of the OECD grouping, Spain is the most reliant on energy imports, which account for 99.9 percent of its oil and gas.</p>
<p>The Spanish government is looking to reduce this dependence by developing Spain's own energy production.</p>
<p>The Spanish oil industry could create 250,000 jobs and account for 4.3 percent of gross domestic product within 20 years, according to a report published last month by consulting firm Deloitte.</p>
<p>The report is based on an estimate that Spain has reserves of two billion barrels of oil.</p>
<p>Environmentalists are discouraged by the example set by Spain's Canary Islands, where seismic imaging has already taken place and oil drilling is set to begin later this year despite protests by island residents.</p>
