All Vistara aircraft will be operated by Air India and bookings for the routes operated by these aircraft will be redirected to Air India's website, the company informed. During this transition period, both Vistara and Air India will ensure necessary support, consistent communication, and convenience to all customers, every step of the way. New Delhi: Aviation safety regulator the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (<keyword id="19899185" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="DGCA" source="keywords">DGCA</keyword>) has placed <keyword id="19987725" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="SpiceJet" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="SpiceJet" meta.hostid="83" meta.entityid="SpiceJet">Spicejet</keyword> under '<keyword id="20073402" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="enhanced-surveillance" source="keywords">enhanced surveillance</keyword>' with immediate effect. A senior DGCA official said that based on reports of cancellation of flights and financial stress being experienced by <keyword id="22971642" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="spicejet-airlines" source="keywords">Spicejet Airlines</keyword>, a special audit of Spicejet engineering facilities was conducted on the August 7 and Auugst 8, 2024, which has revealed certain deficiencies. Following a series of occurrences reported on the Spicejet fleet in 2022, a special drive of spot checks was undertaken during which Spicejet was permitted to release aircraft for operations only after confirming to DGCA that all reported defects/malfunctions had been rectified. During the year 2023, based on reports of the airline being under financial stress, it was again placed under enhanced surveillance. In light of the past record and the special audit carried out in August 2024, Spicejet has once again been placed under enhanced surveillance with immediate effect. This would entail an increase in the number of spot checks and night surveillance with a view to ensure safety of operations. According to reports, the airline's passengers were on Thursday barred from checking-in for their flights at Dubai airport over delayed payments. On reports of cancellation of Spicejet flights from Dubai, the airline spokesperson said, "Due to operational reasons, a few SpiceJet flights from Dubai were cancelled. Affected passengers have been accommodated on subsequent SpiceJet flights, on other airlines or provided with a full refund. All our scheduled flights from Dubai are now operating as planned."

The Indian Council of Medical Research Director General Dr Rajiv Bahl on Monday criticised a recently published study on the long-term safety analysis of the <keyword id="9485939" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="covaxin" source="Orion">Covaxin</keyword> in adults and adolescents for its poor methodology and design, and clarified the article misleadingly and erroneously "acknowledges" <keyword id="19918794" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ICMR" source="keywords">ICMR</keyword>. Dr Bahl said the study had no control arm of unvaccinated individuals for comparing the rates of events between the vaccinated and unvaccinated groups. Hence, the reported events in the study cannot be linked or attributed to COVID-19 vaccination. He added that the ICMR is not associated with the study and has not provided any financial or technical support for the research. The ICMR DG has written a letter to the authors of the paper and Editor of the journal to immediately remove the acknowledgement to ICMR and publish an erratum. A research paper, titled 'Long-Term Safety Analysis of the BBVl52 <keyword id="21730391" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="coronavirus-vaccine" source="keywords">Coronavirus Vaccine</keyword> in Adolescents and Adults: Findings from a l-Year Prospective Study in North India' stated that nearly one-third of the 926 participants in the study who received Bharat Biotech's anti-Covid vaccine Covaxin reported 'adverse events of special interest,' or AESI. Dr Bahl said that ICMR was acknowledged for research support without any prior approval of or intimation to ICMR, which is inappropriate and unacceptable. He stated that ICMR cannot be associated with this poorly designed study which purports to present a "safety analysis" of Covaxin due to several critical flaws. He said the study does not even provide background rates of observed events in the population, making it impossible to assess the change in incidence of observed events in the post-vaccination period. Baseline information of study participants is missing. The study tool used is inconsistent with 'Adverse Events of Special Interest (AESI)' as defined in the reference provided in the paper for AESI. The method of data collection has a high risk of bias, he said. Study participants were contacted telephonically one year after vaccination and their responses were recorded without any confirmation with clinical records or by physician examination, he pointed out. Dr Bahl also noted that similar acknowledgements to ICMR have been made in previous papers without permission, raising concerns about the authors' practices. "The authors have been urged to immediately rectify the acknowledgment to ICMR and publish an erratum. Additionally, they are asked to address the methodological concerns raised. Failure to do so may prompt ICMR to consider legal and administrative action," he said. The Editor has been asked to retract the paper which implicitly makes conclusions on <keyword id="21495684" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="vaccine-safety" source="keywords">vaccine safety</keyword> which are not supported by evidence. The study, conducted by researchers from the Banaras Hindu University from January 2022 to August 2023, stated that nearly 50 per cent of 926 study participants in the study complained of infections during the follow-up period, predominated by viral upper respiratory tract infections. Serious AESI, which included stroke and Guillain-Barre syndrome, were reported in one per cent of individuals, the study, which looked at long-term safety of the BBV152 (Covaxin) vaccine in adolescents and adults, claimed. The study involved 635 adolescents and 291 adults, who received the BBV152 vaccine.

"The analysis of reports and evidence revealed that <keyword id="20879472" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="air-india-limited" source="keywords">Air India Limited</keyword> operated flight(s) with both flight crew aged above 60 years flying together in a few instances. "... the operator was also found deficient in providing adequate weekly rest, adequate rest before &amp; after ultra-long range flights and adequate rest on layover to the flight crew, which violates the extant provisions of the <keyword id="20777683" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="civil-aviation-requirements" source="keywords">Civil Aviation Requirements</keyword> pertaining to FDTL," the regulator said in a release. Further, the DGCA said there were instances of exceeding duty periods, wrongly marked training records and overlapping duties. On March 1, the regulator issued a show cause notice to Air India with respect to the violations. "The operator submitted its response to the show cause notice, which was not found satisfactory. Pursuant to the non-satisfactory response submitted by the operator, a fine of Rs 80,00,000 has been imposed on the operator," the release said.

Currently, the breath analyser test percentage required is 10 per cent and that has been increased to 25 per cent. It will be applicable for air traffic controllers, ground staff, aircraft maintenance engineers, and ground handling services personnel right. According to the regulator, revisions have been made to the CAR on the procedure for breath analyser examination of the personnel engaged in safety-sensitive work such as aircraft maintenance, air traffic control services, aerodrome operations, and ground handling services for detecting the consumption of alcohol. DGCA said the revision in the CAR will further enhance the level of safety and is an effective step in view of the increase in air traffic and ground movements at airports. The amended norms will be effective after three months from the date of issue in order to provide adequate time to the industry to suitably enhance the existing infrastructure for breath analyser tests at various locations, it added.

"This tiki classic is not only delicious but sneaky with its booze," she said. "It may not taste strong, but you're definitely getting your money's worth." "Mojitos are versatile, elegant, pleasant to the palate, and most bars will have a different version of it," he told BI.Although you can order a specialty mojito to switch things up, the beverage director said options like <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/i-made-celebrity-chef-moscow-mules-taste-test-review">Moscow mules</a> and French 75s offer similar flavor profiles. <h2>When in doubt, order a drink from the specialty cocktail menu</h2>Haasarud told BI that the trick to getting a high-quality spirit at a lower price is to order a drink from the bar's featured cocktail menu. "The bar may have worked out a special deal with the distributor or supplier, so you may be getting some liquor that is much more expensive at a lower cost," she said.She added that bartenders also typically have more training in making the drink, so you're more likely to get an excellent pour.<h2>On the other hand, Long Islands will cost you more for less</h2>Kaplan called Long Islands "the amalgamation of everything terrible in a cocktail" that will "guarantee you the worst hangover of your life."On top of all that, she said the classic cocktail is overpriced and poorly made at most bars. <h2>Amaretto and whiskey sours can pose a health risk if made incorrectly</h2><div type="image" title="whiskey sour" height="3877" width="5170" msid="112906329" hostid="261" sizebytes="338350"></div>Austin Carson, the founder and co-owner of Restaurant Olivia, told BI that he doesn't recommend any drink made with egg whites, like classic amarettos or whiskey sours. He doesn't think it's worth the potential risks of consuming the raw ingredient."I'll generally stay away from egg-white drinks," Carson said. "Doing so implies a sanitary wherewithal that I have to trust as well as proper execution."Many bars and restaurants now make these drinks without egg whites or will accommodate special requests. <h2>Miami Vices are often filled with less wholesome ingredients </h2>Torres said that although he understands the appeal of a Miami Vice, a frozen drink layered with strawberry daiquiri and piña colada. He doesn't think it's a great option for those who want <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/cool-cocktails-that-are-actually-easy-to-make-2019-7">a quality cocktail experience</a>. "Enjoying a cocktail at a bar or restaurant should be fun, fresh, pleasant to the palate, and good for you," he said. "Unfortunately, there are many bars out there that use syrups and many other chemicals to make their cocktails."<h2>Manhattans should only be ordered at specialty cocktail bars</h2><div type="image" title="Manhattan cocktails on a tray outside" height="2994" width="3992" msid="112906330" hostid="261" sizebytes="656814"></div>Kaplan recommended steering clear of vermouth cocktails, like Manhattans, in order to save yourself from <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/alcohol-going-bad-how-long-does-it-take-2019-1">drinking spoiled alcohol</a>. The fortified wine doesn't really age well and can go bad. "If you see an old dusty bottle of vermouth on the back bar, run for the hills," she said.The bar manager added that ordering the drink at bars or restaurants that are not cocktail-focused is especially risky.<h2>House margaritas are usually made with low-quality ingredients</h2><div type="image" title="margarita" height="1942" width="2590" msid="112906336" hostid="261" sizebytes="246476"></div>Haasarud recommended avoiding <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/i-made-celebrity-chef-margarita-recipes-taste-test-review">house margaritas</a> to skip the potential hangover from sickly sweet mixers and bottom-shelf tequila. The findings highlight India's emergence as a prominent player in the global toy value chain, evident in the country's integration into the global toy value chain and zero-duty market access for domestically manufactured <keyword id="25284" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="toys" source="Orion">toys</keyword> in nations like the UAE and Australia. The report positions India as a viable alternative to established toy hubs like China and Vietnam.
