<keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword>, the online marketplace headquartered in New Delhi, has decided against renewing the contract of actor <keyword id="6355923" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Aamir-Khan">Aamir Khan</keyword>, who was signed as the brand ambassador. Khan’s one-year contract with the e-commerce giant is coming to an end later this month. 
 
"It was extendable by a year but the company decided against it," one of the persons aware of the matter told ET. Sources also hint that Khan might not even be replaced by another celebrity because the company is looking forward to rationalise ad expenditure and focus instead on repeat customers and enhancing shopping categories. It also aims to try and encourage its buyers to shop through its FreeCharge wallet. 
 
The move has come after Khan was in controversy regarding <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Aamir-Khan-says-India-is-unlivable-increasingly-intolerant-His-wife-suggested-moving-out-of-India/articleshow/49904391.cms">some comments</a> he made about the growing intolerance in the country. These comments had led to a storm of protest against the popular actor. 
 
The controversy had made <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Aamir-Khans-intolerance-remark-Flipkarts-Sachin-Bansal-comes-to-Snapdeals-rescue/articleshow/49926701.cms">Snapdeal stop using Khan</a> in its TVCs and other advertising media, as compared to the abundance of ads he did before the controversy, featuring in the '<keyword id="3153272" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Dil-ki-Deal">Dil Ki Deal</keyword>' campaign. 
 
Some protestors who were angry with the actor’s remarks had also uninstalled Snapdeal's app, which could have led the company to distance itself from him. 
 
The intolerance remarks made by Khan have cost him not one but two campaigns, as last month, he was also replaced by <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Its-official-Amitabh-Bachchan-and-Priyanka-Chopra-are-the-new-faces-of-the-Incredible-India-campaign/articleshow/50667383.cms">Amitabh Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra</a> as the brand ambassador of the Incredible India campaign. He was associated with the campaign since 2009. 
 Talking of the controversy, the actor had said that his wife <keyword id="6371156" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="kiran-rao">Kiran Rao</keyword> was feeling insecure about the growing intolerance in the country and had suggested moving out for the safety of their son Azad Rao Khan. Aamir Khan's contract with Snapdeal ends this month, renewal not in sight

E-tailer <keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword> has struck the right chord with the consumers once again. Wooing the shoppers with its latest offing, the online marketplace has launched ‘Dil ki Deal’ contest on <keyword id="6354616" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Twitter">Twitter</keyword> on March 23, 2015. 
 
Under this contest, an online shopper can participate by answering a simple question asked by the website related to the Dil ki deal contest. However, a contestant’s answer will be accepted only if he has tagged the website as well as use the hashtag #DilKiDealOnSnapdeal. 
 
The website has been posting question at regular interval on Twitter, all of which are either related to the TV commercial or has an emotional quotient to it. According to the company, the theme of the contest was not just delivering a product but also fulfilling heart’s desires. 
 
“Tell us 3 things you love the most about the video#DilKiDealOnSnapdeal,” tweeted Snapdeal. 
 
Neo @TechieTurf replied, “@snapdeal #DilKiDealOnSnapdeal A3) concept of love and care.. along with deals to make people happy.. and of course @aamir_khan!” 
 
Another Tweetrati too posted, “Perfectionist Aamir Khan and DEALicious @snapdeal Perfect for the #DilKiDealOnSnapdeal”. 
 
The participants then stand a chance to win goodies on offer by the website. The buzz created by the quiz had made the hashtag trend on Twitter for quite a long time. The etailer has also tied up with Tamil Nadu Handicrafts Development in order to sell their products on the website.

The same way, Snapdeal has democratised retail in India, now we aspire to democratise access to credit.” 
	 
	Sharing a similar sentiment, Tejasvi Mohanram, founder and CEO of RupeePower, added, “The share of digital origination of credit is poised to grow from today’s 7.5% to 40% over the next 4 years, in an Rs 400,000 crore retail credit market growing at 20% annually. With this investment and by partnering with Snapdeal, we aim to become the number one originator of financial products over the next couple of years.” 
	 
	She further explained that they aim to make RupeePower as the largest platform that provides competitive offers and simplified loan process, while ensuring smarter credit match for lenders. 
	 
	At present, RupeePower has already managed to clock in credit disbursal worth Rs 1,500 crore through its platform. 
	 
	Under the tie-up, Snapdeal will offer financial services such as personal loans, educational loans, credit cards, auto loans, home loans and extended warranties amongst others. On the other hand, RupeePower will have higher access to Snapdeal’s wide distribution network, thus consolidating its position in the online financial services market.

With <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword>’s week long Big Billion Day and <keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword>’s Dil ki Deal locking horns to woo more online shoppers, the online retail industry is expected to clock in at least 45% more sales in this festive year. 
	 
	“Being wooed by heavy discounts and combo offers, the consumers are expected to splurge about Rs 52,000 crore during this season, beginning with Navratras, Durga Puja, Dussehra, Diwali and Christmas,” said DS Rawat, general secretary of ASSOCHAM. 
	 
	While it isn’t a rocket science to understand that online shopping has gone up substantially over the past few years, interestingly, the shopping experience has definitely shifted from desktop to mobiles. 
	 
	“The customer is connected 24x7 through their smart phones, tablets and other mobile devices, which has led to a gradual evolution of e-commerce into mobile commerce. Also, there is an issue of convenience which also leads to impulsive buying,” added Rawat. 
	 
	According to market estimates, brands are expected to register a whopping five-fold increase in revenues over last year through online retail. Rawat noted that around 55% of consumers spend on buying cloths and goods in India between September and December during the festival season that includes Dussehra, Diwali and Christmas. 
	 
	“The merchandise being sold aggressively through online platforms include mobile phones, electronics, designer furniture, home decorations, clothes, accessories, jewellery, footwear etc. The big brands are in tie up with popular e-commerce retailers and hard selling through full page advertisements, internet and television,” he averred. 
	 
	It should be noted that in the last few years, online retail stores have been clocking in higher sales than their offline counterpart. While the traffic on these websites have been surging, footfalls in popular malls have gone down massively. 
	 Popular online stores such as Snapdeal, <keyword id="319719" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Myntra">Myntra</keyword>, Flipkart, <keyword id="6388367" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jabong">Jabong</keyword> and <keyword id="18635" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Amazon">Amazon</keyword> have doled out massive discounts and schemes on products, which has attracted a large number of consumers to these websites. 
	 
	Abhinav Choudhary, cofounder of Smartprix.com, a price comparison website noted that his website had seen over 40% growth in traffic for price comparison of products available on Flipkart, Amazon and Snapdeal on day one of this festival season. While this is a whopping 300% increase in traffic on the first of the festival season over last year for the website, etailers such as Amazon, Flipkart and Snapdeal recorded a massive 200% increase in the traffic.
