There are observers and micro-observers. Nearly, 70-80 lakh people are involved in the process," he said. The national capital is all set to witness the battle. Around 70 companies of the security forces will be deployed at all seven counting centres across the national capital as part of the elaborate security arrangements made by the Delhi Police for today. Delhi traffic police issued a fresh advisory ahead of the counting of votes scheduled for Tuesday, listing key roads where traffic restrictions and diversions will start from 5 am onwards to ensure smooth vehicular movement. Prime Minister Modi's hometown, Gujarat, is also preparing for the vote-counting day as security forces rehearse and perform drills for the effortless conduct of D-day. Exit polls have predicted the return of the BJP to power. Various exit polls have given the BJP more than 64 seats in Uttar Pradesh. The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance is poised for a hat-trick win in Lok Sabha polls with a massive majority. Exit polls were predicted on Saturday and indicated that the ruling party at the Centre would improve its performance in several states ruled by other parties. A few exit polls predicted that the BJP-led NDA could reach the goal of "400 paar" stated by BJP leaders in the run-up to the Lok Sabha polls. The exit polls predicted that the ruling BJP-led NDA is poised to improve its performance over its 2019 record when it won 352 seats. Two polls predicted the BJP would also improve its numbers from the 303 seats it won in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. In the 2019 elections, NDA wrested 353 seats, of which the BJP won 303 alone. The Opposition's UPA got only 93 seats of which the Congress got 52. The Lok Sabha elections were conducted in seven phases- on April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25 and June 1. The counting trends and results, as per data entered by RO/ARO for AC/PC will be available on the ECI website as well as on the Voter Helpline App, both iOS and Android Mobile Apps, according to the ECI. The Voter Helpline App can be downloaded from the Google Play Store or Apple Play Store. Users can use the available filter to find out the winning/leading or trailing candidate details, along with the constituency-wise or State-wise results from the Voter Helpline App. The local display of the trends and results by the CEOs/ROs/DEOs may also be done through the Digital Display Panels, it said.

Lok Sabha elections 2024 results: Mammoth vote-counting exercise set to begin at 8 am, amid high security

Indian Finance Minister <keyword id="42575" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Arun-Jaitley">Arun Jaitley</keyword> took on opposition, saying <keyword id="6354814" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="prime-minister-Narendra-Modi">Prime Minister Narendra Modi</keyword> created the new normal. 
 Addressing the gathering at the BJP parliamentary meet, Jaitley slammed opposition’s criticism and spelled out reasons why <keyword id="3315394" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="demonetisation">demonetisation</keyword> was required at this hour. 
 
“It is only natural there would a currency squeeze, for the next few weeks, the government will be focusing on the rural sector. This is a historic move, the benefits of which will be reaped by our future generations,” said Jaitley. 
 
Modi met BJP MPs and created a plan to corner opposition in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, which have been facing adjournments owing to protest over demonetisation. 
 
"Some people saying even FM did not know of this decision, and then they say the party knew beforehand,” said Jaitley, on the allegations that the PM had allegedly warned some of his closest about the note ban. 
 
Digital economy will also get a boost by this decision, he said. He Further added that although cash shall remain but most of the transactions will become digital now.

Recently, the Union cabinet approved the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill that has proposed some heavy penalties for traffic rules violations. The amendment now comes with some strict measures to deal with traffic violations in order to bring down the increasing number of road accidents and to cultivate responsible practices in how the roads are used by the Indian citizens. Here are some important implications of the motor vehicles amendment act 2019 you will have to know. Motor vehicles amendment Act 2019 The Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill 2019 has brought in some amendments to the provisions found under the <keyword id="674989" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Motor-Vehicles-Act-1988">Motor Vehicles Act, 1988</keyword>. Earlier the same bill had been passed in the Lok Sabha in the April of 2017. Since it could not get the clearance of the <keyword id="48510" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rajya-Sabha">Rajya Sabha</keyword>, it lapsed eventually with the dissolution of the 16th Lok Sabha. <keyword id="26680" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nitin-gadkari">Nitin Gadkari</keyword>, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways tabled the bill in the Lok Sabha and the same was now passed this time successfully. How does a challan work before and after the Motor Vehicle Amendment Act 2019? A challan is an official text that the traffic controlling officer writes in a piece of paper and issues to the violator of traffic rules in India. If the challan is issued in an individual’s name, he or she is liable to pay the traffic fine as listed in the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. The <keyword id="182080" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="e-challan">e-challan</keyword> system introduced by the new amendment replaces the use of physical paper. Right from the breaking of traffic rules by the person and issuing of the challan through the payment of the corresponding traffic fine, there are several stages involved in the process and all of them have now been digitized by the amendment. The new e-challan system is a CCTV enabled one. The CCTV cameras installed in important locations on the Indian roads continuously record the footages of the ongoing traffic. When a motorist is seen violating the traffic, it will be recorded by the CCTV camera. The police will then trace the number of the vehicle from the footage recorded and register the offense in the records. The traffic police will find out the details of the vehicle and its owner from the Regional Transport Office (RTO). Once the details are received, the traffic police will send an SMS on the registered mobile number of the violator detailing the kind of violence, date, time and the details of fine or punishment according to the existing laws. The owners of the vehicle can pay the fine on the e-challan either online or offline. The traffic authority in India has created a dedicated website for paying the e-challan directly. The e-challan issued to the vehicle owner will have a unique serial number. This number has to be entered in the box provided on the site and the payment has to be made online. Alternatively, you can also pay the e-challan in offline mode by visiting the nearby police station. Third party insurance The government will launch a scheme for treating the road accident victims during the golden hour. Yet another scheme will also be launched to provide interim relief to the claimants who seek compensation under the third party insurance. The minimum compensation has been now increased from Rs. 25,000 to 2 lakh rupees in case of death and from Rs. 12,500 to Rs. 50,000 in case of grievous injury. The bill also needs that the government will institute a Motor Vehicle Accident Fund to provide compulsory cover to all the road users in India. The fund will be used to compensate the victims of hit and run accident.

Some important implications of Motor Vehicle Amendment Act 2019

The government is expected to propose amendments to the competition law after taking into consideration various suggestions of a Parliamentary panel, in the upcoming <keyword id="105431" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="Budget-session" source="Orion">Budget session</keyword> of <keyword id="6354721" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="parliament" source="Orion">Parliament</keyword>, according to a senior official. Besides, discussions are going on with respect to amendments to the <keyword id="6354456" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="insolvency-and-bankruptcy-code" source="Orion">Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code</keyword> (<keyword id="192838" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="ibc" source="Orion">IBC</keyword>) as well as the Companies Act, 2013. The official also said that the corporate affairs ministry is examining a Parliamentary panel's suggestions for having a new digital competition law. The ministry is implementing the Competition Act, IBC and the Companies Act, and amendments to these laws are expected this year. A bill to amend the competition law was introduced in Parliament on August 5 last year and was later referred to the <keyword id="403206" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="parliamentary-standing-committee-on-finance" source="Orion">Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance</keyword>. The panel tabled its report on December 13 last year and the ministry will now be coming up with an amendment bill after taking into consideration various recommendations of the committee. The senior official said the bill to amend the competition law is expected in the <keyword id="6358021" type="General" weightage="70" keywordseo="budget" source="Orion">Budget</keyword> session of Parliament. The introduction of a 'Settlement and Commitment framework to reduce litigations' and incentivising parties in an ongoing cartel investigation in terms of lesser penalty to disclose information regarding other cartels were among the proposals in the bill that was introduced in August last year. In its report, the Parliamentary panel recommended various changes to the bill to amend the competition law, including bringing cartels under the scope of settlements as a "pragmatic recourse". The Budget session of Parliament will commence on January 31 with President <keyword id="2848422" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="droupadi-murmu" source="Orion">Droupadi Murmu</keyword>'s address to the joint sitting of <keyword id="6355187" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="lok-sabha" source="Orion">Lok Sabha</keyword> and <keyword id="48510" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="rajya-sabha" source="Orion">Rajya Sabha</keyword>. The session will have 27 sittings and will continue till April 6 with a month-long recess to examine the budget papers. The first part of the session will conclude on February 14 and after a break, reconvene on March 12. In another report on 'Anti-Competitive Practices by Big Tech Companies', the Parliamentary panel, on December 22, proposed a new digital competition law, ex-ante regulations and the creation of a category of systemically important digital intermediaries to curb anti-competitive practices in the digital market. Amendments to competition law likely in Budget session

Stepping up his attack against parliamentary panel on information technology chairman <keyword id="42749" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Shashi-Tharoor">Shashi Tharoor</keyword>, BJP MP and a member of the panel <keyword id="294500" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nishikant-Dubey">Nishikant Dubey</keyword> on Thursday wrote a letter to the Lok Sabha Speaker requesting him to remove the Congress leader from the post. <div type="Article" hostid="261" msid="77575358" title="The heat is on Mark Zuckerberg in India as Facebook and WhatsApp incur the ire of Modi's rivals" mstype="2" mssubtype="0"></div> Citing the Lok Sabha rules, Dubey requested Speaker Om Birla to appoint any other member as the chairman of the committee in his place. I, therefore, appeal to your good self to persuade Dr. Tharoor to proceed on leave and thereafter,... choose another member of the Committee to act as Chairperson," Dubey said in the letter. Facebook row escalates as BJP leader asks for Shashi Tharoor's removal from Parliamentary Panel

New Delhi, Nov 20 () Over 2,100 crore digital transactions were carried out in the country this fiscal up to November 13 as compared to 3,134 crore transactions in financial year 2018-19, Parliament was informed on Wednesday.
 Over the years, there has been a significant growth in digital payments in India, growing from 1,004 crore digital transactions in 2016-17 to 2,178 crore transactions in FY2019-20 (till November 13), Minister for Electronics and IT Ravi Shankar Prasad said in a written reply to Lok Sabha.
 "In 2016-17, India has seen 1,004 (1003.67) crore digital transaction which reflects year-on-year increase of 74 per cent. In 2017-18, 2,071 crore digital transactions have been recorded with an y-o-y growth of 106 per cent, against the total target of 2,500 crore," he added.
 Prasad noted that in 2018-19, 3,134 crore digital transactions were recorded, translating into y-o-y increase of 51 per cent.
 In response to a query on the current status of Software Technology Park (STP) scheme and Electronic Hardware Technology Park (EHTP) scheme, Prasad said currently 2,306 units are operating under the STP scheme and 70 units are operating under EHTP scheme.
 "The total exports for year of 2018-19 from STP units is Rs 4.17 lakh crore and from EHTP units is Rs 7,611.38 crore," he added. SR RVK
