The country imported 23.4 lakh tonne of fertilisers, including urea and <keyword id="438994" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Di-ammonium-Phosphate" source="Orion">Di-ammonium Phosphate</keyword> (<keyword id="175243" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="DAP" source="Orion">DAP</keyword>), in October this year, according to official data. Out of the total <keyword id="50549" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="fertiliser" source="Orion">fertiliser</keyword> imports, DAP was maximum at 14.70 lakh tonne, followed by urea at 4.60 lakh tonne, Muriate of <keyword id="212614" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="potash" source="Orion">Potash</keyword> (MoP) at 2.36 lakh tonne and complexes at 1.70 lakh tonne in the said month, the data showed. Meanwhile, the domestic production of fertilisers was 36.19 lakh tonne in October, lower than the target of 41.54 lakh tonne set for the month. Against the assessed requirement of 71.47 lakh tonne fertilisers for October, the availability was less at 64.28 lakh tonne, and sales stood at 53.34 lakh tonne during the period, as per the data. Barring urea and ammonia, prices of DAP and fertilisers had shown an increase in the global market in October when compared to the year-ago period. Urea is highly subsidised at Rs 5,360 per tonne in the country. The government also offers subsidies on other fertilisers to ensure the soil nutrients are available at affordable prices to the farming community. It’s one of the best performing stocks on listing day as the stock exchanges in general are on an upswing. While BSE Sensex is trading 340 points higher than the last close, NIFTY gained 106 points higher in early trade. The market capitalisation of the company stands at ₹3,730 crore, according to BSE data. The listing gains are much higher than what the unofficial grey market has accounted for – a mere 50 paise premium. The IPO was oversubscribed 1.75 times by investors. Retail investors had oversubscribed the IPO by 1.37 times. The company is engaged in manufacturing, trading, distribution and sales of a variety of complex fertilizers such as Di-Ammonium Phosphate (DAP), three grades of Nitrogen-Phosphorus-Potassium (NPK), Zypmite, Phospho-gypsum and Hydroflorosilicic Acid (HFSA). Its financial performance has improved over the years with net profit at ₹223 crore in FY21 as against ₹158 crore in FY19. It’s issuing fresh shares worth ₹161 crore and an offer for sale up to 98.35 lakh equity shares. The company is engaged in the business of providing digital trust services and enterprise solutions like individual/organizational certificates, digital signature certificates, SSL/TLS certificates and device certificates, a portfolio of digital security and paperless transformation solutions, multi-factor authentication, mobile application security, website security testing, IT policy assessment, etc. The firm has issued more than 50 million digital signature certificates since inception. It caters to all kinds of subscribers who use digital signature certificates for income tax return filing, filings with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (Registrar of Companies), tenders, foreign trade, banking, railways and many other needs. The proceeds from the IPO will be used to repay debt, funding working capital, buy equipment for data centers, investment in eMudhra INC for augmenting its business development, sales, marketing and other related costs to growth. The IPO will open on May 20 and close on May 24 with a price band of ₹243 - ₹256 per share. <keyword id="13028832" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ethos-ipo" source="Orion">Ethos IPO</keyword> will open on May 18 to raise ₹472 crore Ethos is a Chandigarh-based luxury watch retailer that is coming up with an IPO worth ₹472 crore including a fresh issue of equity shares worth ₹375 crore and an offer for sale (OFS) of up to 11.08 lakh equity shares. The company has a portfolio of 50 premium and luxury watch brands like Omega, IWC Schaffhausen, Jaeger LeCoultre, Panerai, Bvlgari, H. Moser &amp; Cie, Rado, Longines, Baume &amp; Mercier, Oris SA, Corum, Carl F. Bucherer, Tissot, Raymond Weil, Louis Moinet and Balmain. It has a market share of 20% in the exclusive luxury segment; and 13% share in the total retail sales in the premium and luxury segment. It has 50 physical retail stores in 17 cities in India and offers an omnichannel experience to its customers via website and social media platforms. As of December 31, 2021, the company's website had 2.18 crore visitor sessions. The IPO proceeds will be used towards repayment of debt, funding working capital, capex for establishing new stores and upgrading existing stores. Paradeep Phosphates to open on May 17 to raise ₹1,501 crore The fertilizer company is primarily engaged in manufacturing, trading, distribution and sales of a variety of complex fertilizers such as Di-Ammonium Phosphate (DAP), three grades of Nitrogen-Phosphorus-Potassium (NPK), Zypmite, Phospho-gypsum and Hydroflorosilicic Acid (HFSA). It caters to farmers across the country through its fertilizers marketed under the brand names Jai Kisaan-Navratna and Navratna. The company is looking to raise ₹1,500 crore including fresh issue of shares worth ₹1,004 crore and offer for sale comprises of up to 60.18 lakh equity shares by Zuari Maroc Phosphates and up to 11.24 crore equity shares by The President of India, acting through the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India. The Company intends to utilize IPO proceeds from the fresh issue to part-finance the acquisition of the Goa facility, repayment of debt and general corporate purposes. New Delhi, Jan 26 () The government may consider cut in import duty on raw material used in the fertiliser industry in the forthcoming budget with a view to boost domestic manufacturing in the country, sources said.
Lower import duty on raw material like rock phosphate and sulphur used for manufacturing of DAP (Di ammonium phosphate) would help boost domestic production and cut in import bill, according to sources.
Currently, there is an import duty of 5 per cent on such imports and the country imports about 95 per cent of its DAP requirement from global markets. The country also imports about 30 per cent of its urea requirements.
During April-December 2019-20, the country's crude and manufactured fertiliser imports grew by 8.47 per cent to USD 6.2 billion.
The commerce ministry has suggested its finance counterpart to rationalise basic customs duty on over 300 items to boost domestic manufacturing and cut in the rising import bill.
It has proposed removal of import duty on products like waste paper, and wood pulp which is currently 10 per cent and 5 per cent, respectively.
In 2018-19, the country imports rose by about 9 per cent to USD 507.44 billion.

Govt may consider import duty cut on raw material for fertiliser industry in Budget

New Delhi, Jul 15 () Fertiliser cooperative IFFCO's net profit rose 20 per cent to an all-time high of Rs 1,005 crore during the last fiscal year on record sales of soil nutrients. Its profit stood at Rs 841.58 crore during the 2018-19 financial year. IFFCO's turnover increased to Rs 29,412 crore in the 2019-20 fiscal, from Rs 27,851.74 crore in the previous year. The group turnover of IFFCO, including its joint ventures, subsidiaries and associate companies, rose to Rs 57,778 crore last fiscal, from Rs 50,908 crore in the 2018-19 fiscal. "I am glad that IFFCO could achieve outstanding overall performance for the FY 19-20, which is indeed incredible to accomplish in a year severely affected by global and economic challenges," IFFCO Managing Director U S Awasthi said. IFFCO has achieved highest ever production, sales, profit and despatches of fertilisers for the financial year 2019-20, the company said. Apart from core fertiliser business, IFFCO has diversified into general insurance, rural retail, farm forestry, rural telecom, agrochemicals, rural finance, logistics, SEZ. It has forayed into food processing, organic food and nutrients for urban gardening. The cooperative achieved the highest ever sales of fertilisers at 133 lakh tonnes last fiscal despite difficult market and weather conditions. On operational front, IFFCO's total production of fertilisers increased to 91.42 lakh tonnes last fiscal year, from 81.49 lakh tonnes in the previous year. Urea output increased to 48.75 lakh tonnes from 45.62 lakh tonnes last year, while the production of di-ammonium phosphate/nitrogen phosphorus potassium/water soluble fertilisers (DAP/NPK/WSF) rose to 42.87 lakh tonnes from 35.87 lakh tonnes. IFFCO sold record 133.31 lakh tonnes of fertilisers in the last fiscal year, as against 115.56 lakh tonnes in 2018-19. Out of total sales, urea stood at 86.31 lakh tonnes and DAP/NPK at 47 lakh tonnes in 2019-20. New Delhi, Jan 10 () The Centre is mulling introducing mobile testing labs at 21 ports across the country in a bid to ensure imported fertilisers reach farmers on time after a quality check, government sources said on Friday.
 Currently, imported fertilisers are tested by Faridabad-based Central Fertiliser Control and Quality Institute (CFCQI) as well as three regional centres that come under the agriculture ministry.
 As per the Fertiliser (Movement Control) Order, imported fertilisers are permitted for distribution only after testing the commodity.
 "However, due to delay in testing on part of CFCQI, consignments get stuck at ports. There were instances in the past, when some consignments were released without waiting for the test reports on pressure to meet farmers' demand in a particular season," a highly placed government source said.
 When the tested samples were found to be of inferior quality after releasing the consignments from ports, their distribution was later stopped at different levels, the source said, adding this was one of the cases.
 But now the issue is being addressed seriously as the government is committed towards supplying quality fertilisers to the farming community, the source added.
 To keep a check, another source said, the fertiliser ministry has recently issued an advisory asking importing companies to stop distribution of fertilisers if they see any issue about the quality and the same should be informed to the ministry immediately.
 The other plan that the ministry is working on is to set up mobile testing labs at 21 ports to ensure the tests are done quickly on a real-time basis and consignments are released for distribution without any delay, the source added.
 It may be noted that import of fertilisers other than urea is free and on private account it is done under the open general licence. Various companies import fertilisers as per their commercial judgement.
 The month-wise demand is assessed and projected by the agriculture ministry in consultation with state governments before the commencement of each crop season. Based on that, the fertiliser ministry allocates fertilisers to states by issuing monthly agreed supply plan as per the Fertiliser (Movement Control) Order.
 State governments are regularly advised to coordinate with manufacturers and importers of fertilisers for streamlining the supplies through timely placement of indents.
 The country imported 188.43 lakh tonne of fertilisers during 2018-29. Of this, urea comprised 74.81 lakh tonne, Di-Ammonium Phosphate 66.02 lakh tonne, Muriate of Potash (MoP) 42.14 lakh tonne and NPK at 5.46 lakh tonne, as per the government data. LUX ANU
