The stock of <keyword id="20682741" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Shree-Renuka-Sugars" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Shree Renuka Sugars" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Shree Renuka Sugars">Shree Renuka Sugars</keyword> climbed 5.38 per cent, Praj Industries soared 5.33 per cent, Dwarikesh Sugar (3.77 per cent) and Balrampur Chini Mills (3.46 per cent). "This spike followed the government's decision to allow sugar mills to use cane juice or syrup to produce ethanol for the ethanol supply year (ESY) 2024-25," Avdhut Bagkar, Technical and Derivatives Analyst at StoxBox, said. The government on Thursday permitted the use of sugarcane juice and sugar syrup for ethanol production in the 2024-25 ethanol supply year, reversing last year's ban. In December 2023, the government prohibited the use of sugarcane juice or sugar syrup for ethanol production in the 2023-24 ESY (December-November) to ensure adequate sugar availability for domestic consumption and keep prices in check. "Sugar mills and distilleries are allowed to produce ethanol from sugarcane juice/sugar syrup, B-Heavy molasses as well as C-Heavy molasses for ESY 2024-25 as per the agreement/allocation with OMCs (oil marketing companies)," the food ministry order said. The Food Ministry and Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry will periodically review the diversion of sugar for ethanol production vis-a-vis sugar production in the country to ensure year-round availability of sugar for domestic consumption, it added. India is the world's second largest sugar producing country after Brazil.

New Delhi, Shares of Sugar companies tumbled up to 3 per cent in the morning trade on Thursday after the government announced a hike in the minimum price that mills have to pay to sugarcane growers for the 2024-25 season starting October. The scrip of Rana Sugars plunged 3.21 per cent to Rs 25.35 apiece, <keyword id="20682742" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="mawana-sugars" source="keywords">Mawana Sugars</keyword> slumped 2.81 per cent to Rs 101.70, Rajshree Sugars &amp; Chemicals tumbled 2.50 per cent to Rs 72.62, <keyword id="20682741" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="shree-renuka-sugars" source="keywords">Shree Renuka Sugars</keyword> declined 2.41 per cent to Rs 48.50, KCP Sugar &amp; Industries declined 2.20 per cent to Rs 40.87, and EID Parry (India) slipped 1.57 per cent to Rs 629.20 apiece on the BSE. Also, Dalmia Bharat Sugar and Industries went lower by 1.15 per cent to Rs 403.15 per piece, Balrampur Chinni Mills fell 1.12 per cent to Rs 376.50, <keyword id="20079400" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="dhampur-sugar-mills" source="keywords">Dhampur Sugar Mills</keyword> down by 0.96 per cent to Rs 248 and Triveni Engineering and Industries slipped 0.76 per cent to Rs 347.80 apiece on the bourse. In the morning session, the 30-share BSE Sensex benchmark declined 410.20 points or 0.56 per cent to 72,212.89 points. On Wednesday, the central government announced a hike in the Fair and Remunerative Price (<keyword id="20544473" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="frp" source="keywords">FRP</keyword>), the minimum rate that mills need to pay to sugarcane growers. The FRP has been increased by Rs 25 to Rs 340 per quintal for the 2024-25 season starting October. The decision to increase the FRP was taken at the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) chaired by Prime Minister <keyword id="19895781" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="narendra-modi" source="keywords">Narendra Modi</keyword>. This is the highest FRP for sugarcane announced by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government since coming to power in 2014. This is the second time that the Modi government has increased the FRP by Rs 25 per quintal in one go. "This decision of central government is going to benefit more than 5 crore sugarcane farmers (including family members) and lakhs of other persons involved in sugar sector," an official statement said on Wednesday.

New Delhi, Feb 3 () Dhampur Sugar Mills on Monday posted a 38 per cent drop in its consolidated net profit at Rs 51.02 crore for the third quarter of the 2019-20 on sluggish revenues.
 The company had reported a net profit of Rs 82.04 crore for the October-December quarter of the 2018-19, according to the BSE filing.
 Net income declined on a consolidated basis to Rs 822.15 crore during the third quarter of this fiscal from Rs 799.43 crore in the same quarter of the 2018-19.
 Expenses also increased to Rs 768.88 crore from Rs 710.42 crore in the said period.
 The company has declared an interim dividend of Rs 6 per equity share of 10 each for the 2019-20 financial year.
 Dhampur International, EHAAT Ltd and DETS Ltd are three subsidiaries of Uttar Pradesh-based Dhampur Sugar Mills.
 The company's shares fell 5.02 per cent to close at Rs 192.10 a piece on the BSE on Monday. LUX SHW

Analysts say sugar industry has a long way to go Sugar industry in India is expected to grow by 6-7% in the years 2021-2022 due to growth in exports of sugar and ethanol, said Manoj Dalmia, founder and director, Proficient equities. “Exports taking place from India will rise as Brazil is facing weather changes impacting crops. India is to register exports of around 4-6 million tonnes for (sugar 2022). Government plans 20% ethanol blending by 2025 in petrol, currently it is 10%. This measure will reduce the debt burden on farmers as a result sugar stocks are to grow,” said Dalmia. Future Retail shares dip 2% in early trading hours The shares of Future Retail lost nearly 2% a day after it reported a net loss of ₹242.2 crore for the quarter ended June 30. The company’s overall revenue was down 88.6% to ₹ 163.2 crore compared to the same period last year. A government notification exempts ICICI Bank from cutting stake to 30% in ICICI Lombard General Insurance and ICICI Prudential Life Insurance, for a period of three years. Adani Green crosses ₹1 trillion market capitalisation Adani Green shares were locked in a 5% upper circuit after touching an all time high of ₹670.65 on the BSE. With this Adani Green also became the first Adani Group subsidiary to cross ₹1 trillion market capitalisation. Infosys shares advanced 5% The shares of tech giant Infosys advanced 5%, adding to gains from yesterday. On Monday, the company said it would acquire Czech Republic-based GuideVision for up to €30 million ( ₹260.4 crore). Top stock movers — Future Retail, Infosys, Adani Green, TCS, Tech Mahindra, Strides Pharma, Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar, ICICI Bank, Cipla and more

Major indices failed to capitalise on Thursday's strong start, post the passage of the GST Bill in the Rajya Sabha, as traders pressed sales on front line shares and investors refused to park fresh funds into equities trading near 16-month highs. 
 
Sentiment was supposed to take a major fillip after last night's overwhelming clearance of the amendment allowing the introduction of the Goods and Services Tax in India's business lexicon. The bitterly debated legislation, in works for over a decade, will result in a unified market across the country. However, the market remained as a sell on rallies. 
 
The Nifty rose 3 points at 8,547 in the first half hour of trade, retreating from an opening high of 8,600. Bharti Infratel, Lupin, Bharti Airtel, IndusInd Bank and ICICI Bank dropped between 1-1.8 percent. They were among 24 shares that dipped on the Nifty. Tata Motors, Sun Pharma, ONGC and Power Grid rose 1.1-2.8 percent and were among 27 stocks that gained ground on the index. 
 
Maruti, Tata Motors, and Bajaj Finance were the top three traded stocks by value. ICICI Bank, Jindal Steel &amp; Power, Ashok Leyland and GATI figured on the list of most active securities on the NSE. 
 
The Nifty 100, 200 and 500 indices slipped marginally in trade, down 0.1 percent each. The mood was mostly weak in the sectoral segment will all four banking benchmarks trading in the red. Mild profit booking continued in the FMCG, Realty and the Media sectors as well while modest upticks were seen on pharma stocks, metal shares and auto companies. 
 
The Sensex fell 39 points to 27,658 points on the Bombay Stock Exchange with Maruti, Tata Motors and ICICI Bank being the top traded shares on the index. Sun Pharma, ONGC and NTPC were the top gainers along with Bajaj Auto and Maruti. Stocks that slipped in trade were Cipla, HDFC, Asian Paints and State Bank. 
 
The trend was mostly positive in the wider market with 812 shares rising compared with 588 stocks that fell. The mood was bullish in the derivatives market where 110 futures gained ground versus 61 that dropped lower. 
 
Pricol, Bata India, Kewal Kiran clothing and Welspun India were present on the list of volume buzzers. 
 
Blue Star, Asian Paints, Yes Bank and Dhampur Sugar Mills hit fresh highs in the first half hour of trade on the National Stock Exchange.
