Vu has launched three <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Flipkart&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">smart TVs</a> in an attempt to offer entertainment and social networking at affordable rates. The price of the TV sets range from Rs 20,000 to Rs 52,000, and the size between 32 to 55 inches. 
 
Commenting at the launch Ms. <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Devita+Saraf&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Devita Saraf</a>, CEO and Design Head – <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Vu+Technologies&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Vu Technologies</a> said, “Although traditionally, TV has been referred to as the Idiot Box, we were curious to discover how we may smarten up the same.” 
 
This new set of TVs is powered by the Quad-Core Internet Video Processor and can run on-demand video channels like YuppTV, RedBull, Kidoz and TedX. They can also connect to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and more. The sets run Opera TV store that allows users to download apps. 
 
They can connect to the internet via Wi-Fi and Ethernet to access YouTube and Netflix app pre-installed on them. They also allow screen -sharing from Mobile Phone &amp; Tablet via Mirroring, MHL, DLNA technologies.

Vu launches new Budget Smart TV range starting
Rs. 20k

Banking on the success of online retailing, California luxury based TV maker <keyword id="250895" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vu-Technologies">Vu Technologies</keyword> has tied-up with e-tailer <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword> to sell its offering online. The company will sell televisions wide ranging from Rs 9,000 to Rs 9 lakh from March 2015. 
	 “Years ago, Vu entered the television market with a limited range of products available in stores. Today, Vu is launching a vast range of television sizes and configurations to compete with the likes of Sony, Samsung, and LG – and these new televisions are available to the public for purchase online,” said <keyword id="179520" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Devita-Saraf">Devita Saraf</keyword>, CEO and Design Head, Vu Televisions. 
	 
	Saraf added that the rationale behind going online was to offer the products at affordable prices. “Traditional retailers are asking for higher margins than online retailers and thus driving up the costs of electronics to customers. By going online, Vu has bypassed these extra expenses to create more affordable products without sacrificing quality or service,” she noted. 
	 
	A big risk? 
	 
	While it is common these days for consumer goods brands to tie-up with eCommerce players exclusively, Vu TV has taken a bold step by planning to sell its UltraHD or 4K technology range online, which is priced at Rs 90,000. 
	 
	“In a market, which is dominated by Samsung, LG and other such players, it would be interesting to see how Vu TV markets itself online,” said an industry expert on the condition of anonymity. 
	 
	However, he quickly added that since the consumer behavior is changing, hence, the chances that the brand will taste success are quite possible. “While buying a TV is not an impulsive purchase, it is equally true that people are gradually moving towards online retail stores for better prices. If consumers can buy two-wheelers online, it would not be wrong to expect people to spend Rs 90,000 on TV,” he noted. 
	 
	Other big bets 
	 
	While it remains to be seen how Vu Technologies markets its products online, especially the ones in the higher price range, there have been some other big brands that entered into similar agreements with other e-tailers. 
	 In December 2014, two wheeler maker <keyword id="6357252" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hero-MotoCorp">Hero Motocorp</keyword> tied up with Snapdeal to sell its bikes online. And the company claimed to have been successful as it sold one bike per minute on Snapdeal. 
	 
	It should be noted that Vu has tie-up with Flipkart for online sales of TV sizes up to 55 inches. Interestingly, the company will continue to sell the larger Vu televisions directly from Vu or in stores. It should be noted that Vu had tied up with Flipkart in May last year.

Vu GloLED TV launched in India with a subwoofer and a Glo AI processor at a starting price of ₹33,999

<keyword id="250895" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Vu-Technologies">Vu Technologies</keyword> launched two new beautiful 4K LED televisions in India. The company has taken the competition right up to the Sony’s and <keyword id="10591" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Samsung">Samsung</keyword>’s of the world. They are claiming that the new set of televisions launched by them are available for one-third the price of Samsung, <keyword id="6356116" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="LG">LG</keyword> and Sony 4K TV’s. 
 These televisions can upscale HD feed to 4K viewing and will enhance the picture quality accordingly. Both the TV’s are internet ready and one can browse <keyword id="10879" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="YouTube">YouTube</keyword> videos and more using broadband Wi-Fi. Social and smart browsing features are also available in these. As far as the power consumption is concerned the 50-inch model consumes 110 watts and the 55-inch one gobbles 120 watts. These 4K LED TV’s seem like a great offering and one can definitely look at them as a major contender. The R&amp;D of these televisions happens in California, USA. However, the most basic problem with these television in India would be its after sales service. In the world of Samsung’s and Sony’s, who have a great fan following, how will a brand like VU survive? Let’s wait and watch.
