She’s made us laugh, hurl abuses with ease and even tugged at our heartstrings with her brilliant performance in <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=masaan">Masaan</a>. 
 
An outsider, with no Godfather or filmy connections, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=richa+chadda">Richa Chadda</a> has slowly carved a place for herself in the rungs of <keyword id="143" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bollywood">Bollywood</keyword>, letting her acting do the talking- and a recent mention in the Forbes 30 under 30 Young Achievers’ List proves that even more. She has arrived and is here to stay. 
 
Granted, she wowed critics and audience alike in Masaan, but she stole her hearts long before in <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=gangs+of+wasseypur">Gangs of Wasseypur </a>playing the firebrand <keyword id="3273982" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Nagma-Khatoon">Nagma Khatoon</keyword>. 
 And, while speaking at <keyword id="3272716" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="The-Coalition">The Coalition</keyword> in Delhi this weekend, the actress let us in on a little secret- how she landed her role in the iconic <keyword id="486655" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="Gangs-of-Wasseypur">Gangs of Wasseypur</keyword>. 
 As it turns out, the first movie audition Delhi girl <keyword id="6366549" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Richa-Chadda">Richa Chadda</keyword> had ever given was for none other than <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=anurag+kashyap">Anurag </a><a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=anurag+kashyap">Kashyap’</a>s Dev D. 
 Remembering it himself, <keyword id="7929" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Anurag-Kashyap">Anurag Kashyap</keyword> said, “Her audition was great but I couldn’t see her in that role. I remember her walking in wearing pencil heels as if she’d never wore them in her life,” 
 
Chadda sheepishly nodded and added that even though she didn’t get the part (which later went to Kalki Koechlin), Kashyap assured her that he would keep her in mind for his next movies. 
 
And, he stuck to his word when he ended up casting her as Nagma Khatoon in Gangs of Wasseypur. 
 
But, wait- there’s a twist there too. 
 
As it turns out, Chadda was initially offered a small role in her film before being offering the role of Nagma Khatoon. 
 
Kashyap was apprehensive about her playing an older character which was partly the reason he didn’t offer her the role- but when the actor who was supposed to play Khatoon’s role dropped out, he knew it was time. 
 
Offering her take, Chadda explained, “But, I really had no problem playing an older character. Every character in the movie was aging, so why should my character stay young?”

Richa Chadda landed her role in Gangs of Wasseypur

Once upon a time, at the very beginning of their <keyword id="143" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bollywood">Bollywood</keyword> journey, both were ‘friendly colleagues’. <keyword id="7929" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Anurag-Kashyap">Anurag Kashyap</keyword> had written the script for <keyword id="28758" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="Satya">Satya</keyword>, that turned <keyword id="6355246" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ram-Gopal-Varma">Ram Gopal Varma</keyword> into a household name overnight. Anurag even wrote the dialogues for one of Varma’s other successful movies, <keyword id="38455" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="Shool">Shool</keyword>. 
 
But, several yars down the line, these two have turned foes. The proof- a very verbal and public Twitter spat over Anurag’s recent box office debacle, <keyword id="183766" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bombay-velvet">Bombay Velvet</keyword>. Sample this:

For the record, Bombay Velvet, which was touted to be Kashyap’s dream project, opened to bad critical and commercial reception despite having stars like Ranbir Kapoor and <keyword id="6357860" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Anushka-Sharma">Anushka Sharma</keyword> in the leading roles. 
 
However, the fact that his dream project gave some of the people nightmares did not stop Kashyap from standing up for his film and posting a long note on his Facebook account, about how he firmly believes in the film.

As a matter of fact, RGV, Karan Johar and Anurag Kashyap go back a long way. As mentioned earlier, Varma and Kashyap have worked together for Satya while Johar and Varma have had twitfights in the past, over Johar’s movies <keyword id="38250" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="My-name-is-Khan">My Name Is Khan</keyword> and <keyword id="549195" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="Student-of-the-Year">Student Of The Year</keyword>. 
 
Well, all we can say is, if coffee can bring these master film-makers together, we won’t mind them sharing a few cuppas with each other for the love of cinema. However, that is not going to happen soon, because if reports are to be believed, Anurag Kashyap is moving to France for an indefinite period of time, which according to him is the most cinema-friendly country in the world. 
 
Here’s hoping that Kashyap comes back to give Bollywood more jewels like Gulaal, Gangs of Wasseypur and Dev.D.
