The laptop continues to offer an aluminium and carbon fibre combination. The laptop features a minimalistic silver aluminium lid with a matte finish that prevents fingerprint smudges. It comes with the Dell logo at the back, with the rest of the back being empty. <div type="image" title="Back" msid="107330438" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;The Dell XPS 17 9730 comes with a matte finish aluminium lid&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> Due to the touch screen and the large battery, the laptop is on the bulkier side at 2.44 kg. So, if you are someone who often needs to use their laptop on the go, you need to consider the weight. As someone who already uses a heavy laptop, I did not find any issues with the weight. Opening the Dell XPS 17 9730 may be an issue sometimes as you may not find anything on the lid to hold on to. Unlike Apple’s MacBook which can be opened easily with a single hand, I often had to use both hands to open the laptop. On the other hand, the keyboard area is black and comes with a carbon fibre texture. It comes with a large trackpad and is equipped with two speakers on either side of the keyboard. <div type="image" title="Key" msid="107330505" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;The Dell XPS 17 9730 keyboard and touchpad&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> The keyboard is backlit and feels good to type on. As someone who has to type a lot, I had no issues while typing on the XPS 17 9730. The keys offer a 1.3mm travel and do not make a lot of noise. The touchpad is large, which makes it easier to use and is very responsive. The keyboard comes with a 60% layout and does not feature number buttons on the right. If you are someone who uses numbers a lot, this may not be the ideal option for you. Then again, this is aimed at creators, who don’t use numbers very often. In terms of ports, the Dell XPS 17 9730 is equipped with ample ports. It offers four Thunderbolt 4 USB Type C Ports, a full-size SD card reader and a 3.5mm audio jack As it is equipped with a powerful processor and graphics card, Dell has offered a large vent at the bottom to manage the heat. It also comes with XPS branding at the bottom. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Display" comment="subhead" text="Display">Display</cmsannotation> Coming to the display, the Dell XPS 17 9730 is equipped with a 17-inch 4K UHD+ IPS LCD display with a resolution of 3840 x 2400 pixels and a 60Hz refresh rate. <div type="image" title="Display" msid="107330520" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;The Dell XPS 17 9730 comes with a 17-inch display&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> The display offers a 500 nits brightness, which is quite good for a laptop and allows you to use it even when under the sun. It offers 100% Adobe RGB minimum and 94% DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage. While an OLED panel would have offered higher brightness and superior colours, the IPS panel on the XPS 17 9730 performs well. The high resolution and colour accuracy make it a great option for content creators who need to be very careful with colours. The low refresh rate may disappoint users who may have wanted to play fast-paced action games as you will be limited to 60Hz. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Performance" comment="subhead" text="Performance">Performance</cmsannotation> In addition to a large display, the Dell XPS 17 9730 is also packed with the 13th gen Intel Core i9-13900H processor coupled with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 graphics. The laptop is available in two variants, offering up to 32GB DDR5 4800 MHz RAM and a 1TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe M.2 SSD. You can further upgrade the storage to up to 8TB. The powerful combination means the laptop is able to carry everything that you throw at it with ease. You can easily multitask on the device with several applications running. Considering the processor and graphics card combination, I also tried a few games on the laptop, including Red Dead Redemption 2. The laptop was able to handle these heavy games without any issues at the highest graphics. <div type="image" title="Bottom" msid="107330533" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;The vent at the bottom&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> To keep the laptop cool, it comes with dual fans and a large vapour chamber at the bottom. While the vapour chamber and the fans work well, it is only a laptop at the end of the day and it starts heating up during extended gaming sessions. The Dell XPS 17 9730 is equipped with a large 97Whr battery that easily lasts for a day with normal usage. If we add in some light gaming and video streaming, the laptop still offers over 8 hours of usage, which is great. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Verdict" comment="subhead" text="Verdict">Verdict</cmsannotation> The Dell XPS 17 9730 is a good laptop that ticks a lot of boxes, including powerful hardware, large display and an excellent battery. At the same time, it is on the heavier side and the price is on the higher side. If you are looking for a powerful laptop and do not mind the price tag, the Dell XPS 17 9730 is an excellent option. During my usage, I found the keyboard to be slightly cluttered and it will take some time to get used to the layout. It comes with a full width heatsink at the bottom, which cools the GPU. It also comes with a tri-fan technology and full-surround vents to ensure proper air circulation. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Display" comment="subhead" text="Display">Display</cmsannotation> Coming to the display, the Asus ROG Strix Scar 16 features a ROG Nebula HDR Display. It is equipped with a 16-inch Quad HD+ Mini LED display with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels, a 240Hz refresh rate, 3ms response time with Dolby Vision HDR support. <div type="image" title="Display" msid="108514962" hostid="261" sizebytes="54506" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;It comes with a vibrant display&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> The resolution and the high refresh rate make it a treat to play on the laptop. The colours look great as it comes with 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut. The Mini LED panel ensures excellent visuals with amazing contrast with 2,304 dimming zones. The 1,100 nits brightness delivers good visibility, even under direct sunlight. I played games like Red Dead Redemption 2, Starfield and Forza Horizon 5 on the laptop, with the device offering amazing visuals in each game. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Performance" comment="subhead" text="Performance">Performance</cmsannotation> If you are looking for a powerful gaming laptop, the ROG Strix Scar 16 will not disappoint. It is equipped with the Intel Core i9 14900HX high-performance processor with 24 cores and 32 threads. This is coupled with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 16GB GDDR6 graphics. The laptop comes with 32GB DDR5 5600MHz RAM, which can be extended up to 64GB. For storage, it offers a 2TB M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSD, which can be upgraded to 4TB. I tested the laptop with several games, including Red Dead Redemption 2 and Forza Horizon 5. Both the games performed well and the laptops were able to handle them without any issues. The powerful hardware means that you will be able to run any game at the best graphics without even having to look at the system requirements. I played Starfield and Forza Horizon 5 at maximum graphics and the laptop was able to handle them with ease. Even during extended gaming sessions, the laptop’s cooling apparatus kicked in, keeping the temperatures down. The laptop is equipped with a 90Whr battery, the battery life is not one of the strongest points of the ROG Strix Scar 16. While gaming, I was able to get around 2 and a half hours of battery life out of the device. Then again, you will mostly be gaming while you are connected, so battery life is not a very big issue. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Verdict" comment="subhead" text="Verdict">Verdict</cmsannotation> The Asus ROG Strix Scar 16 is a feature-packed laptop that ticks all the right boxes, including a vibrant display, powerful performance and decent battery life. If you don’t have a problem with the weight and are looking for a premium gaming laptop, the ROG Strix Scar 16 is a great option. An added benefit with the ROG Strix Scar 16 is its translucent plastic body and the RGB lighting offered, which will please a lot of gamers. with or without the heatsink for the 1TB and 2TB variants, while the 4TB variant is only available without a heatsink. As expected, the heat sink adds up a considerable amount of size and weight to the SSD. While the 2TB SSD without the heatsink measures 80mm x 22mm x 2.38mm and weighs 7.5 grams, the heatsink variant measures 80mm x 23.4mm x 8.8mm and weighs 24 grams. I tested the 2TB variant with a heatsink, which is quite bulky and the circuit board has been encased in metal. The heatsink comes with holes on the sides, allowing air to circulate between them and thereby increasing the surface area. This offers improved cooling, which comes in handy during gaming. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Software and performance" comment="subhead" text="Software and performance">Software and performance</cmsannotation> The WD Black SN850X can be updated and optimised with the company’s Dashboard management software that can be downloaded from its website. In addition to displaying the SSD’s information and health, the tool also offers an option to update the firmware and control the SSD. Western Digital has also offered the Game Mode 2.0 with the SN850X. This offers adaptive thermal management, predictive loading and overhead balancing. The application is easy to use and while there is not much to meddle with, it’s good to have the application. Coming to performance, the WD Black SN850X SSD comes with a NAND upgrade, which enables higher sequential-read speeds and an increased sequential-write speed. The SSD’s TLC flash memory chips have been upgraded to 112-layer chips, an upgrade from the SN850’s 96-layer TLC chips. The sequential-read speed has been upgraded from 7,000MB/s to 7,300MB/s and the sequential-write speed has been upgraded from 5,300MB/s to 6,300MB/s. During my testing, it offered a sequential read speed of 7363.74 MB/s and a sequential-write speed of 6690.06 MB/s on the CrystalDiskMark. Thermal management has also received a boost with the SN850X and during extensive gaming, the SSD hovers around 53-55 degrees, which is good. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Verdict" comment="subhead" text="Verdict">Verdict</cmsannotation> The WD Black SN850X 2TB SSD is an excellent option for those looking for a premium gaming SSD. You can pick between the heatsink and non-heatsink version depending on your motherboard. At the same time, this is an expensive product, which may be too expensive for some. If you are willing to splurge a bit, you will not go wrong with the SN850X. As was the case with its predecessor, the new 13-inch MacBook Pro is thin and light enough to comfortably fit in a backpack or work bag when traveling. But, of course, it's not quite as lightweight as the MacBook Air, as its name implies. It's also a bit heavier than Dell's XPS 13. The MacBook Pro weighs 3.1 pounds, while the Air weighs 2.8 pounds and the Dell XPS 13 weighs 2.64 pounds.The MacBook Pro has a 13.3-inch, 2,560 x 1,600 resolution Retina display, which is the same sharpness as the MacBook Air. The biggest difference between the Pro and the Air is the Pro's support for the P3 wide color gamut, whereas the Air supports full standard color, also known as sRGB. That means the Pro can display a wider spectrum of colors than the Air, but that will only likely matter if you're a professional photo or video editor. This version of the MacBook Pro has stereo speakers with high dynamic range with wide stereo sound, making them great for watching movies and listening to music. It won't get loud enough to power a party, but it's more than enough for doubling as a home speaker in a small space. Compared to the MacBook Air, which lacks the Pro's high dynamic range, music sounds slightly more full-bodied.The best audio, however, can be found on the 16-inch MacBook Pro, which has a more powerful high-fidelity six-speaker sound system with force-canceling woofers. I'm no audiophile, but the laptop's boisterous sound system ended up being one of my favorite things about the 16-inch MacBook Pro when I tested it last year. It makes me envious that it's not available on the 13-inch model, although I can imagine that putting a stronger sound system in a more compact computer would be challenging. When it comes to video chatting, you're better off relying on your iPhone when you can. The new MacBook Pro, like the 16-inch MacBook Pro, new MacBook Air, and many Windows laptops, comes with a 720p resolution web camera. That might have been easily overlooked in the past, but at a time when many people have been working from home for months and socializing through video, the lack of quality built-in webcams out there has become more apparent. The MacBook Pro's 720p webcam is sufficient for video calls, but I do notice a bit of graininess and noise. That's especially true when compared to making FaceTime calls on the iPhone SE, which has a 7-megapixel front camera capable of recording video at 1080p that allows for clearer video calls.<h2>Keyboard</h2><a href="https://apple.sjv.io/c/196318/435031/7613?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.apple.com%2Fshop%2Fbuy-mac%2Fmacbook-pro%2F13-inch" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener sponsored"><div type="image" title="Apple 13 inch MacBook Pro (2020) keyboard" height="1264" width="1960" msid="76098021" hostid="261"></div></a>If there's one thing you should know about the differences between the previous 13-inch MacBook Pro and the newest model, it's the latter's new keyboard. The revamped Magic Keyboard represents a complete redesign over the one found on its predecessor, which feels flat and shallow compared to the new iteration.I've said this before and I'll say it again: the new keyboard feels exactly like what you should be getting from a premium laptop like the MacBook Pro. For what you're paying, you shouldn't have to compromise with a keyboard that feels stiff and lacks depth. The Touch Bar still feels a bit gratuitous — it's nice to have, especially now that you don't have to pay extra for it, but you don't necessarily need it either. I've occasionally found it useful for flipping though tabs in Safari, but don't really find myself using it for other shortcuts.<h2>Performance and battery life</h2>The MacBook Pro's performance, aside from its Touch Bar, is the biggest factor that sets it apart from the MacBook Air. All models come with a quad-core processor with a higher clock speed compared to the Air, which features a dual-core processor at the base level. The higher-end variants of the MacBook Air also run on processors with a lower clock speed compared to the MacBook Pro. A processor with more cores generally means its better-equipped to juggle multiple tasks.What's puzzling, though, is Apple's decision to keep Intel's 8th generation processors — the same chips from the previous generation that Intel originally announced in 2017— in the base model. If you want to purchase a model that runs on the latest Intel processors that have become the standard for most competing laptops, you'll have to opt for the pricier $1,800 configuration. Meanwhile, several Windows rivals offer 10th generation Intel chips in machines that cost hundreds of dollars less. That model also has a lower-resolution screen than the MacBook Pro, but does come with support for touch input.For this review, I've been testing the $1,800 MacBook Pro with a 10th generation Intel processor, and it performs just as smoothly and speedily as you'd expect. I am able to regularly open dozens of web browser tabs throughout the work day without overwhelming the machine and sending the fans whirring, as is typically the case when using the slimmer 2020 MacBook Air.On occasion, my MacBook Pro unit gets a little noisy before quickly quieting down when I have more than 20 tabs open, but that was the exception rather than the norm. For what it's worth, I had a very similar experience with Dell's XPS 13, which sometimes seemed stressed after opening nearly two dozen tabs but quickly recovered.The difference in performance between the 13-inch MacBook Pro and MacBook Air is noticeable while gaming too. When playing "Tomb Raider" at its highest resolution on both systems, I noticed that graphics looked a bit more fluid and smooth on the MacBook Pro versus the MacBook Air. The MacBook Pro's battery life falls a little short of Apple's claims of 10 hours, but is still enough to get through an entire work day. EV startup Vidyut on Tuesday said it has raised $10 million in its Series A fundraise (a mix of equity and debt funding) led by 3one4 Capital, and will deploy new funds to scale its new offerings that include EV insurance, lifecycle management and EV resale. The round also witnessed participation from new and existing investors namely, Saison Capital, <keyword id="20657706" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="zephyr-peacock" source="keywords">Zephyr Peacock</keyword>, Force Ventures, a venture debt fund Alteria Capital and CEO of Udaan, <keyword id="20483955" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sujeet-kumar" source="keywords">Sujeet Kumar</keyword>. Founded in 2021, the startup said it aims to expand its presence to 40 cities and will double its team size by the end of FY25 as it prepares to build a full stack EV ecosystem. "Our focus is not just on financing but on elevating the entire EV ownership journey for India's SMBs, who are the backbone of our economy," said <keyword id="20657704" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="gaurav-srivastava" source="keywords">Gaurav Srivastava</keyword>, co-founder of Vidyut. The company already offers ownership solutions for Mahindra, Piaggio, Altigreen, Murugappa Group's Montra Electric, Euler Motors and OSM vehicles. EV startup Vidyut raises $10 mn to build full-stack ecosystem

The Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA), a global standards body advancing transparency online through certifying the provenance of digital content, on Friday announced that <keyword id="19902762" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="google" source="keywords">Google</keyword> has joined as a steering committee member and support <keyword id="20518759" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="content-credentials" source="keywords">Content Credentials</keyword> to bring transparency to digital content in the AI era. Google will collaborate with other steering committee members like Adobe, BBC, Intel, Microsoft, <keyword id="19963754" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="publicis-groupe" source="keywords">Publicis Groupe</keyword>, Sony, and Truepic to develop the technical standard for Content Credentials. Content Credentials is the C2PA's technical standard for tamper-resistant metadata that can be attached to digital content, showing how and when the content was created or modified. "In the critical context of this year's global elections where the threat of misinformation looms larger than ever, the urgency to increase trust in the digital ecosystem has never been more pressing," <keyword id="20518761" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="dana-rao" source="keywords">Dana Rao</keyword>, General Counsel and Chief Trust Officer, Adobe and Co-founder of the C2PA, said in a statement. "Google's membership will help accelerate the adoption of Content Credentials everywhere, from content creation to consumption," he added. Additionally, Google's participation, which includes YouTube, will help increase awareness of Content Credentials as a key resource to help people understand the content they're viewing and trust the digital ecosystem. "At Google, a critical part of our responsible approach to AI involves working with others in the industry to help increase transparency around digital content," said <keyword id="20518760" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="laurie-richardson" source="keywords">Laurie Richardson</keyword>, VP of Trust and Safety at Google. Content Credentials are essentially a "nutrition label" for digital content -- showing when a piece of content is created and modified. Google joins global coalition to bring transparency to digital content in AI era

Visakhapatnam, Indian bowlers won an engrossing battle against <keyword id="19903600" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="england" source="keywords">England</keyword>'s firebrand batting for a series-levelling 106-run victory in the second Test here on Monday, blunting 'Bazball' with their resilience in a roller-coaster contest. England began day four at 67 for one, chasing a record target of 399. They were bowled out for 292 in the extended afternoon session. The visiting team's no holds barred approach, which has largely been successful, did not work on this occasion as <keyword id="19895063" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="india" source="keywords">India</keyword> picked up nine wickets over the course of two sessions to bounce back in the five-match series. The third Test will be played in Rajkot from February 15. Only Zak Crawley's (73 off 132 balls) strategy of mixing caution with aggression worked before the collective efforts of Jasprit Bumrah (3/46), R Ashwin (3/71), Axar Patel (1/75) and Kuldeep Yadav (1/60) yielded the desired results for the hosts who were under pressure going into day four. After James Anderson claimed that India were nervous while batting in the second innings and did not know a safe target to counter 'Bazball', England walked the talk on Monday and went ballistic. They would have been better served taking a cue from Crawley, who saw out an intense morning spell from Bumrah before going for his strokes. Night-hawk <keyword id="20461829" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="rehan" source="keywords">Rehan</keyword> Ahmed (23) wanted to smash his first ball of the day out of the park while Hyderabad Test hero Ollie <keyword id="20352520" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="pope" source="keywords">Pope</keyword> (23) and Joe Root (16) were pushing their luck, frequently attempting sweeps and reverse sweeps on a pitch with variable bounce. The visitors managed to make 127 runs in the opening session but the loss of five wickets effectively sealed their fate. When skipper Ben Stokes (11 off 29balls) got run out via a brilliant direct hit from Shreyas Iyer post lunch, there was no coming back for England. But Ben Foakes (36) and Tom Hartley (36) frustrated the visitors with a 55-run partnership for the eighth wicket. Hartley could have been Ashwin's landmark 500th wicket but the TV umpire overturned the on-field decision of a catch as the ball had ballooned after hitting the batter's arm and not the glove. However, Rohit and Co. were not convinced with the DRS showing umpire's call for LBW. Since the appeal was only for a catch and not LBW, the umpire's call for the latter was not considered. At stroke of lunch, Kuldeep Yadav dismissed Crawley while Bumrah trapped Jonny <keyword id="20461830" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="bairstow" source="keywords">Bairstow</keyword> (26) in front to deal a massive blow to England, who slipped to 194 for six at the break. Crawley, by far the best batter on show, was adjudged LBW off Kuldeep with a close DRS call. On the sixth ball of his first over, Kuldeep got one to turn back in from middle stump. It seemed the ball was going down leg but DRS showed that it was hitting the leg-stump. India's standout bowler in the game, Bumrah, bowled his heart out in the two-hour session. For someone who was operating in four-over spells, Bumrah bowled one extra in his opening burst before returning towards the end of the session to send back Bairstow. He also cleaned up Hartley to end the game. Root and Pope perished while going for their strokes. Root, in particular, would be disappointed with his effort as he danced down the track and went for a wild slog without getting to the pitch of the ball to be caught at short third man, giving Ashwin his 499th wicket. While Axar Patel found Rehan's pads with a straighter one, Pope offered a sharp catch to Rohit Sharma at first slip off Ashwin and the Indian skipper made no mistake in pouching it. Crawley's play in the first session stood out. He was patient enough to leave balls in Bumrah's opening spell and when the champion fast bowler did for for a full ball, the England opener was quick to put it away with a straight bat. His cover and straight drive off Bumrah were the standout strokes of his innings. When Axar was bowling his first spell, India were a tad defensive and had both long off and long on in place for Rehan, who was promoted to bat at number three before stumps on day three. Pope played a sweep, flick and stepped out to Axar in the same over for three boundaries. Root, who had missed the last two sessions on Sunday due to an injured right little finger, was in full attack mode with his first two scoring shots being reverse sweep for four. Ahead of the rush, Samsung had already gotten the ball rolling. Meet the new Galaxy Book Flex Alpha. Samsung has announced a number of Galaxy Book laptops over the past year, though none have actually hit shelves yet. The Flex Alpha is the fourth, and likely cheapest, iteration. Unlike its siblings, which we expect to hit <a href="https://www.engadget.com/2019/10/29/galaxy-book-flex-and-ion-hands-on-gorgeous-qled-laptops/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">over $1000</a>, the Galaxy Book Flex Alpha will start at just $829.99.The new Galaxy Book sports a 13.3-inch version of Samsung's proprietary quantum dot (QLED) display, which are able to display a massive color gamut beyond that of normal LED panels, and are the closest you can get to OLED-quality screens at a sub-$1000 price point.The other signature feature is its portability. Samsung says the device weighs about 2.6 pounds, or just a bit lighter than last year's Dell XPS 13.Design aside, the Flex Alpha looks to have fairly solid specs, including a 54Wh battery that Samsung says will last 17.5 hours, 8GB or 12GB of memory (RAM), up to 1TB of storage, and 10th-Generation Intel processors (CPUs) - though, Samsung isn't saying exactly which of these per configuration. The 2-in-1 device also supports Samsung's proprietary stylus, the Active Pen (though you have to purchase it separately), which is handy for artwork or notes.Here are the specs, broken down:<ul><li>CPU: 10th Generation Intel processors</li><li>Graphics: Intel UHD Graphics </li><li>Display: 13.3-inch QLED FHD touchscreen (1,920 x 1,080, 600 nits brightness)</li><li>RAM: 8GB - 12GB</li><li>Storage: 256GB/512GB/1TB SSD (PCIe)</li><li>Ports: USB-C 3.1, 2 x USB 3.0, HDMI, microSD, headphone jackSamsung</li></ul>I can't recommend a laptop for certain until I've tested it myself, but the Flex Alpha looks to be a solid mid-range purchase. One thing I do miss is the lack of discrete graphics options, but that's an understandable sacrifice for Samsung to make for the Flex Alpha's size and price. If the graphics are a deal breaker for you, you may want to look at the slightly more expensive Galaxy Book Flex and Galaxy Book Ion, also slated for release in early 2020.
