When the foreign media couldn’t recognize Deepika Padukone

Here’s some good news for <keyword id="1655" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Priyanka-Chopra">Priyanka Chopra</keyword> fans and the entire female brigade. At a time when the industry is grappling with unequal pay in films and television industry, Priyanka Chopra became the first Indian star to enter the Forbes list of highest paid television actresses in the world. 
 
Priyanka was at the eight spot of the list, which is topped by American actress Sofia Vergara, fifth year in a row. 
 Priyanka earned USD 11 million. She made her international acting debut last year with ABC's "<keyword id="253731" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Quantico">Quantico</keyword>" and now is gearing up for its second season. 
 
Meanwhile, Vergara brought home a whooping USD 43 million before management fees and taxes and also has an outstanding endorsement deals in her kitty. 
 
Apart from her TV series ‘Quantico’ Priyanka is all set to make her Hollywood film debut with "Baywatch" alongside Hollywood heavy-hitters including Dwayne Johnson, the world's highest-paid actor. 
 
"Castle" star Stana Katric, who like Priyanka makes a debut on the list, is placed at seventh position. Another newcomer on the rankings is Julia Louis-Dreyfus ('The Good Wife'). 
 
Kerry Washington of "Scandal" fame finds herself at sixth position, with USD 13.5 million earnings. The list comprises 15 highest paid actresses. 
 Before Priyanka, <keyword id="143" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bollywood">Bollywood</keyword> actress <keyword id="598" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Deepika-Padukone">Deepika Padukone</keyword> also made the country proud by entering the 2016 Forbes list of world's highest paid actresses. 
 The list, which saw <keyword id="6367276" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jennifer-Lawrence">Jennifer Lawrence</keyword> sitting at the top, placed Deepika at the 10th position. Deepika, who shared screen space with Priyanka in "Bajirao Mastani", is like the "Quantico" star, set for her Hollywood debut next year.

Deepika won the title for the first time in the popular list that is annually published by Britain-based Eastern Eye newspaper. 
 
"It does bring a smile to my face, but sexy means different things to different people. For me, it's not just physical. Being comfortable with who you are, is sexy. Confidence is sexy. Innocence and vulnerability is sexy," the actress, who is set to make her Hollywood debut with 'xXx: Return of Xander Cage' opposite Vin Diesel, said in a statement. 
 Priyanka, who has won the title four times in the popular list, was pushed down to second place. <keyword id="6354526" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Alia-Bhatt">Alia Bhatt</keyword> cracked the top 10 for the first time and was ranked fifth.
