Mumbai, <keyword id="9292761" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="equity-benchmark-sensex">Equity benchmark Sensex</keyword> jumped over 350 points in opening trade on Thursday, tracking gains in index majors <keyword id="6355199" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="reliance-industries">Reliance Industries</keyword>, <keyword id="6652791" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="HDFC-Twins">HDFC twins</keyword> and ICICI Bank amid positive cues from global markets. The 30-share BSE index was trading 355.23 points or 0.76% higher at 46,799.41, and the broader NSE Nifty surged 109.25 points or 0.80% to 13,710.35. ONGC was the top gainer in the Sensex pack, rising around 5%, followed by Bharti Airtel, Bajaj Auto, Axis Bank, <keyword id="45179" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="NTPC">NTPC</keyword>, Bajaj Finance, Titan, IndusInd Bank, HDFC duo and Reliance Industries. On the other hand, Asian Paints, Infosys, Dr Reddy's Lab, TCS and Nestle India were among the laggards. In the previous session, Sensex rallied 437.49 points or 0.95% to close at 46,444.18, and Nifty surged 134.80 points or 1% to 13,601.10. Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) were net buyers in the capital market as they purchased shares worth ₹536.13 crore on a net basis on Wednesday, according to provisional exchange data. Domestic equities look to be good at the moment, said Binod Modi Head-Strategy at Reliance Securities, adding that Asian markets are trading positive as the outline of Brexit trade deal was reached. "Further, fear of a new coronavirus strain seems to be easing out now with select European countries opening borders for Britain. FPIs flow continues to remain a key driving force for domestic equities, which is expected to sustain in the near term in the backdrop of weak dollar, soft monetary policies of global central bankers and fiscal stimulus in the USA. "Sustainability of recovery in key economic data and 3QFY21 earnings are likely to play important roles for domestic markets for the sustainability of premium valuations in the near term," he said. US equities finished mostly higher as investors monitored the progress of the coronavirus vaccine and chances of a revived economy in 2021. However, President Donald Trump's opposition to recent bills passed by the Congress offered some discomfort towards the last session of trade. Elsewhere in Asia, bourses in Seoul, Hong Kong and Tokyo were trading on a positive note in mid-session deals, while Shanghai was in the red. Meanwhile, the global oil benchmark Brent crude futures were trading 0.41% higher at USD 51.45 per barrel. New Delhi, Feb 3 () Chemicals maker Deepak Nitrite on Monday posted nearly fourfold jump in its consolidated net profit to Rs 156.71 crore for the third quarter of the current financial year, on robust sales.
 It had clocked a net profit of Rs 39.70 crore during the October-December quarter of the previous financial year, according to a BSE filing.
 The company's net income on a consolidated basis jumped significantly to Rs 1,134.52 crore during the third quarter of 2019-20 as compared with Rs 767.72 crore in the year-ago.
 Expenses rose to Rs 923.71 crore in the December 2019 quarter from Rs 767.72 crore a year ago, the filing added.
 Deepak Nitrite CMD Deepak C Mehta said, "Our profitability increased manifold."
 Deepak Phenolics, which was established last year, performed well in terms of volumes. However, as a commodity product, it is susceptible to the global cycle of slowing economic growth and impact of input prices that have suppressed the margins. It is hoped that the commodity cycle will improve in the latter half of the next financial year, he said.
 "Given the robust business visibility, we are planning expansions across all business segments to further foster our performance," Mehta added.
 Gujarat-based Deepak Nitrite has a diversified portfolio of intermediates that cater to the dyes and pigments, agrochemical, pharmaceutical, plastics, textiles, paper and home and personal care segments in India and overseas.
 Its shares rallied 8.50 per cent to close at Rs 409.30 a piece on the BSE on Monday. LUX HRS

Deepak Nitrite posts 4-fold jump in Q3 net profit to Rs 156.71 crore

Besides, unabated foreign fund outflows also put pressure on domestic equities, traders said. The BSE gauge was trading 233.53 points or 0.40 per cent lower at 58,803.65 in early trade. Likewise, the <keyword id="6354813" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="nifty" source="Orion">Nifty</keyword> fell 73.70 points or 0.42 per cent to 17,543.45. Asian Paints was the top loser in the Sensex pack, shedding 2.44 per cent, followed by Tech Mahindra, Wipro, Bajaj Finserv, Infosys, HCL Tech and Bajaj Finance. On the other hand, PowerGrid, Maruti, ICICI Bank, <keyword id="6355199" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="reliance-industries" source="Orion">Reliance Industries</keyword> and Bharti Airtel were among the gainers. In the previous session, the 30-share index ended 427.44 points or 0.72 per cent lower at 59,037.18. Similarly, the broader NSE Nifty plunged 139.85 points or 0.79 per cent to 17,617.15. Elsewhere in Asia, bourses in Hong Kong, Seoul and Tokyo were trading with losses in mid-session deals, while Shanghai was in the green. Stock exchanges in the US finished with significant losses in the overnight session on Friday. Meanwhile, international oil benchmark Brent crude rose 0.92 per cent to USD 88.70 per barrel. Shares of the company rose as much as 10% crossing the ₹2 trillion mark in market capitalisation. Footfalls at malls and large format stores, for the chain, are still at 65% and 70% of pre-pandemic levels respectively. But sales growth looks good partly due to pent up demand and partly due to the low base last year. <div type="image" title="Titan cchart" height="900" width="1200" msid="86832317" hostid="261"></div> The company’s jewellery, watches and eyewear business grew by 78%, 73% and 74% on year in the September quarter. “The demand postponement triggered by the second wave of the pandemic in avenues like gift purchases, occasions I milestone buying, weddings, investments in gold etc. witnessed a strong comeback in Q2,” said the company in a statement to exchanges. As festivities come near large fashion accessory companies like Titan witness a strong demand recovery pushing sales almost back to pre covid levels. With covid restrictions easing down, stores become fully operational in most of its stores known for selling luxurious products. Analysts believe that Titan is growing its jewellery business as there lies a huge scope of revenues. “Titan is targeting to gain market share in the Jewellery segment due to strong focus on wedding segment, huge scope for store expansion (40-50 stores every year), and gold harvest &amp; gold exchange schemes. Further, the shift from unorganized (currently 70%) to organized (currently 30%) in the Jewellery segment will benefit branded players like Titan due to strong brand positioning and superior quality. Thus, we are positive on stock,” said Amarjeet Maurya, AVP - Mid Caps at Angel One. The craze around digital gold has also helped the Tata Group company gain some traction to its products. Titan’s feature to convert digital gold into jewellery later has received good response. “Digital Gold is a new pilot offering that helps customers purchase gold online and lock-in the gold prices with an ability to convert it into jewellery at a later stage. The early response has been good with enrolment of many digitally-savvy young customers,” said the company.
