The prices of Nissan and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Datsun+&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Datsun</a> models in the country will rise by up to Rs 30,000, effective January 2017. 
 
“'The price increase comes as a result of rising input costs. The revision of prices will help us offset the impact of this and maintain our competitiveness in the industry,” Mr. Arun Malhotra, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. said.

Nissan has announced a price hike across all models. Here’s why

<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=nissan">Nissan</a> introduced Datsun GO NXT limited edition ahead of the festive season in India. The <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Datsun">Datsun</a> GO NXT will come with add-ons worth Rs 20,000 at a minimal price increase of just Rs 5,000. Now it will be available for Rs 4.27 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai) and Rs 4.1 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). 
 
This limited edition will be available till December 2015 across all 196 Datsun outlets in <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=india+car+market">India</a>.

After the Datsun Go and Datsun Go+, Japanese carmaker <keyword id="46283" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Nissan">Nissan</keyword> will launch a third car in the Datsun range, the concept Ready Go, in the third quarter of the current calendar year, top executives said at an event at the Chennai factory of the <keyword id="43777" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Renault">Renault</keyword> Nissan alliance to mark the roll out of the millionth car from the plant. 
 Nissan will also announce the India launch of another car for the <keyword id="47445" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Indian-market">Indian market</keyword> at the Delhi Auto Show 2016, Guillaume Sicard, President of Nissan India Operation s said, refusing to comment further about the car reserved for the auto show. 
 
The Datsun Ready Go will be made on the Common Module Family- A platform, which is an arrangement between alliance partners Nissan and Renault to build a wider range of cars from a smaller pool of parts, resulting in cost savings. The latest launch of Renault, a compact hatchback called Kwid, is built on this platform. For a compact car priced attractively under Rs 4 lakh, it comes with fittings like a navi gation system. Launched in September last year, the Kwid has 85,000 bookings so far, according to Colin Macdonald, managing director at the Renault Nissan Alliance. 
 
The strategy for Nissan this year would to attempt to increase market share from the current rate at aober 1.5% to 5% in the Indian passenger car segment, which saw the sale of over 26 lakh cars in the fiscal year 14-15, when the segment registered a year-on-year growth of 3.9%. 
 
"Besides product launches, we will al so increase our dealer network to 300 by 2016 to reach out to more customers and strengthen our after-service sales network," said Sicard. 
 
Renault and Nissan, which runs its Chennai plant of capacity 4.8 lakh cars on a system to drive engine synergy, produces about 2.7 lakh cars a year, with Nissan taking up about 1.6 lakh cars of total production. 
 
The alliance had signed a memorandum of understanding with the state government of Tamil Nadu to investment Rs 4,500 crore as the initial investment target for the factory. Now, their investment stands at Rs 6,100 crore. 
 
Nissan executives said discussions are on with the state government officials to sign the understanding.

Nissan to introduce its third Datsun car in the market

Back in the 90s, the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Maruti+800&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Maruti 800</a> was the car to own. Frugal, conservative and potent, it was the first four-wheeler for the masses. Three decades on, the dynamics of the entry level hatchback market has shifted completely.

People now want hatchbacks for the convenience they offer. One can always book an <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=UberPOOL&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">UberPOOL</a> or <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Ola+Share&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Ola Share</a> otherwise. There are a lot of expectations from small cars these days. They have to be something that’ll make their owner proud, while still being affordable. 
 
With a steady influx of new auto manufacturers, and smart cost-cutting, car companies today are churning out hatchbacks that’ll put ones from a higher class to shame. 
 
We took the top spec versions of three of the best to find out which one’s best suited for you. 
 
Competition: 
 
The <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Hyundai+Eon&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Hyundai Eon</a> caught the imagination of small car buyers since its launch. While none of the ones in this test can match the Alto 800 or Alto K10 in terms of sales numbers, it’s no point denying Hyundai offered a delicious combination of features, refinement and practicality that was hard to miss. 
 
Then came the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Renault+Kwid&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Renault Kwid</a>, with its tall boy design with SUV-ish looks and completely stole the Eon’s thunder. Even the sales numbers say so. In Oct 2015, Eon sold 6479 units, while the Kwid sold 5195 units. Last month (May 2016), the Eon sold just 3634 units, while Kwid saw 5600 units. 
 
So what’s there to die for in the Kwid? Have a look. 
 
For a car in this price range you get a large touch-screen infotainment system, class-leading boot and an engine tweaked for best-in-class fuel efficiency (over 25 kmpl). 
 
The recently launched <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Datsun+Redi-Go&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Datsun Redi-Go</a> is the Kwid’s sibling in more ways than one. The two cars share the same engine, body frame and much more. The Redi-Go and it’s trying to carve a place for itself in the most popular automotive segment of the country. That means it’ll have to take on its own kiln to really leave a mark. Nothing like sibling rivalry. 
 
Engine Specifications On paper, the <keyword id="778281" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Hyundai-Eon">Hyundai Eon</keyword> is the most powerful car in the segment while the Kwid and Redi-Go share the identical 3 cylinders 799cc petrol engine. While none of these are really driver’s cars, I’d choose the Eon over the competition on this front. In terms of refinement, newer doesn’t necessarily mean better as the Kwid and the Redi-GO leave much to be desired. No complaints about the Hyundai here though. 
 
Coming to the all-pervasive figure of fuel efficiency, the Redi-GO and Kwid take the lead with their class-leading 25.17 kmpl, while the Eon returns 21.1kmpl. 
 
Dimensions &amp; Space 
 
The Kwid has the biggest boot in the segment (300 lts), while the Redi Go comes in second (222 lts) and the Eon trails in third (215 lts). The Kwid is also the longest and widest of the lot. The Redi-GO is the tallest, and has the best headroom. 
 
The Eon is fine when looked in isolation, it’s just the competition has moved further ahead. 
 
Features 
 
The Kwid dominates the pack again with its seven-inch touch-screen infotainment system with navigation. The Eon offers nifty features like Internally Adjustable Outside Mirrors, while the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Datsun+Redi-Go&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Datsun Redi-GO</a>, for that price offers Front Power Windows. 
 
In terms of quality, however, the Eon feels more premium, the Kwid comes in a close second, while the Redi-GO trails behind with its spartan interiors. 
 
Overall, the Kwid has the best features. The Eon comes in a close second, while the Redi-Go is good, but not outright impressive. 
 
Verdict 
 
The Eon desperately needs an upgrade to keep up with the Jonses. The Redi-GO has a fresh design, and is yet cheaper than the Kwid. If the company’s after-sales service can keep up, the Redi-GO can potentially see serious on-road numbers In India. 
 
However, as things stand, there’s not toppling the Kwid.

New Delhi, Jan 27 () Japanese automaker Nissan plans to launch one new product every year, starting with a compact SUV, as part of its revised strategy for a turnaround in the Indian market, a top company official said on Monday.
 The company, which has so far failed to make an impact in the market, now plans to focus primarily on the Nissan brand in the country and introduce multiple products with different body styles, including SUVs and sedans, going ahead instead of depending only on its SUV lineage as part of an earlier plan announced in 2018.
 It will also continue with Datsun brand, with focus on providing value proposition to the customers.
 "We plan to launch at least one new product every year going forward. The first product is going to be an all-new compact SUV which would be rolled out in the first quarter of the next financial year," Nissan Motor India Managing Director Rakesh Srivastava told reporters here.
 The company would launch multiple products in order to build a profitable and sustainable business in the country, he added.
 Currently, Nissan sells six models in India under both Nissan and Datsun brands.
 Commenting on the new product, Srivastava said the model has been designed in Japan keeping in mind requirements of the Indian market.
 "Globally, we have a range of SUV products. We are now looking to enhance our commitment to the market by coming out with a new offering in the B-SUV space (sub four metre compact SUV)," he noted.
 The company currently sells Kicks and Terrano SUVs in the C-SUV segment (one above B-SUV). It is only selling around 300 units of Kicks per month, while Terrano sales remain miniscule.
 Srivastava said the company has gained useful insights from the Kicks and that would help the company introduce the new product in the market.
 When asked to comment on future of Datsun brand in the country, Srivastava added that the company would keep selling value products under the brand while focusing on high-selling SUV models under the Nissan lineage.
 He added the headquarters has left the responsibility of the Datsun brand to hosting nations. 
 Earlier, it has been reported that Nissan was looking to discontinue the Datsun brand globally as part of a cost-efficiency exercise.
 He said the brand still has relevance in the Indian market, accounting for about 70 per cent of Nissan India's sales and is planning "product interventions" in future to strengthen it further.
 In September 2018, Nissan had announced its MOVE 2022 strategy under which it looked to position Nissan as premium mainstream brand in India building on the company's SUV heritage. It had kicked off the strategy with the launch of SUV Kicks last year.
 Under the MOVE 2022 strategy it had looked to fix its business operation in India along with Saudi Arabia, where it has made significant investment but hasn't had much success.
 Under the strategy, the company had said it would address the mass market segment in India with its Datsun brand.
 Asked if the change in the Indian market strategy has to do with the issues faced by the Renaul-Nissan alliance in global level, Srivastava replied in the negative.
 It is all due to the changing landscape in the market, which has evolved so rapidly and the company has to keep in pace with it, he added. 
 When asked to comment on sales outlook for the coming financial year, he said that the company would like to grow in tune with the industry, which is expected to post "single-digit" growth.
 On the company's BS-VI transition, Srivastava said Nissan will not offer small diesel engines but is currently working on its line-up for both petrol and bigger diesel engine vehicles to comply with the new emission norm. MSS RKL MSS HRS

BS4 car discounts - Get discounts of up to ₹2,50,000 on BS4 cars in India

After e-tailers and rental car sector, major car manufacturers including <keyword id="44883" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Maruti-Suzuki">Maruti Suzuki</keyword> India, <keyword id="596" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Hyundai">Hyundai</keyword> Motor and <keyword id="42747" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Tata-Motors">Tata Motors</keyword> are offering various schemes this festival season, including discounts of up to Rs 37,000 to push up sales. 

	Market leader Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) is offering cash discounts, ranging from Rs 5,000 on its hatchback Celerio to Rs 35,000 on entry level Alto800. 
 

	Besides, the carmaker is giving discounts on other models including Wagon R, Stingray and Dzire but no such offers are on recent launches like Ciaz. 
 

	"Customers are already responding very positively to our current sales promotion schemes and booking is seeing an uptrend. For the forthcoming festive season the excitement has begun," MSI Executive Director (M&amp;S), RS Kalsi told PTI. 
 

	The company has already introduced six festive and limited editions like Alto 800 Onam edition, WagonR Avance, Swift Glory, Alto K10 Urbano, he added. 
 

	"Many more festive models are in pipeline including automatic and SHVS (Hybrid). And of course, we will soon bring the premium hatchback Baleno to the Indian customers. Bookings for Baleno are due to open next week, after we share the information about the car," Kalsi said. 
 

	Rival Hyundai Motor is offering the maximum discount of Rs 37,000 on its entry level model Eon, followed by i10 and Grand i10 (Rs 27,000 each). 
 

	The carmaker is also offering discount of up to Rs 28,000 on compact sedan Xcent and Rs 15,000 off on mid-size sedan Verna. There are no discounts on high selling models i20 and recently launched compact sports utility vehicle Creta. 
 <keyword id="4581" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="general-motors">General Motors</keyword> is offering exchange bonus of Rs 20,000 on Beat and Rs 30,000 exchange bonus on Cruze. It is further giving off on other models like Sail (hatchback and sedan), multi-purpose vehicle Enjoy and Tavera. "This is a great time to purchase <keyword id="55200" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Chevrolet">Chevrolet</keyword> cars, as customers will get the best value for their money along with complete piece of mind giving them a truly satisfying ownership experience," General Motors India, President and Managing Director, Arvind Saxena said. Japanese car maker <keyword id="46283" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Nissan">Nissan</keyword> is also offering discounts adding up to Rs 25,000 on Datsun GO+ for orders booked in the month of October. It is also giving benefit worth Rs 22,000 on Datsun Go. 

	"We are celebrating this festive season by offering special benefits to our customers and an attractively priced Datsun line-up for the Indian customers," Nissan Motor India, Managing Director Arun Malhotra said. 
 

	Another Japanese carmaker Honda is also offering benefits of up to Rs 47,000 on its compact sedan Amaze and multi- purpose vehicle Mobilio. 
 

	In addition, Tata Motors is introducing a special festive season offer under which customers buying Tata cars between October 1 and November 15, stand a chance to win a minimum cash back of Rs 2,000 going up to Rs 50,000. 
 

	The auto major is also looking to launch celebration editions of various models including Bolt, GenX Nano range and Safari Storme, beginning October 13. This range will be on sale till November 15, 2015.

The compact budget-friendly baby of Tata, the 4-seater Nano fell short of vehicle structures (proved inadequate) and collapsed to varying degrees, resulting in high risks of life-threatening injuries to the occupants on the front seat and rear seat. The Nano and the Alto 800 are built to a cost, and it shows in the results. 
 
In the case of a collision like this, the driver of the Nano would be reduced to pulp, and the driver of the Alto 800 would suffer a similar sort of fate. Both cars received zero stars in the Global NCAP test, and failed to make the grade in the UN test as well. Bodyshell integrity was rated as 'unstable' in both cases for the little Tata and the Maruti.

 <keyword id="596" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hyundai">Hyundai</keyword> i10 too failed both tests with severe damage being suffered by the driver. It had its bodyshell labelled 'unstable'. Interestingly, Euro NCAP (which insists on the fitment of airbags and ESP as standard on all cars) gave a four-star rating to the pre-facelift i10 back in 2008. it did have front and side airbags for the driver and co-passenger, but according to Euro NCAP, it also had a stable passenger compartment, unlike the Indian-made car that Global NCAP said had proven "inadequate and collapsed to varying degrees, resulting in high risks of life-threatening injuries to the occupants". Considering that the i10 is made in India and exported to the rest of the world, why this disparity between cars being made for the local market and ones being sold elsewhere?

It couldn't pass the Global NCAP test, but it did pass the UN test, with the passenger shell managing to stay largely intact after the collision. The bodyshell was rated 'stable', and the rating could've improved with the addition of airbags, according to GNCAP. 
 
POLO 
 
Global NCAP first subjected the Trendline, the base version of the Polo, to a test like all the other cars, which it failed. It did pass the UN test, and later, VW sent in a Trendline equipped with airbags, and that car fared a whole lot better, being the only hatchback made in India to notch up a four-star Global NCAP rating. As a result, Volkswagen will now offer the Polo with dual airbags as standard across the range in India, with a price increase of up to Rs 22,700. Global NCAP's testing protocol mandates that all cars (including base variants) must carry at least airbags and ABS to get its certification; and so on that count alone the Indian Swift model failed the test even before the crash happened. The crash analysis showed the crash-test-dummies having sustained near-fatal injuries, more so in the case of the driver. The car's structural integrity was also deemed as unstable. 
Interestingly, the made-in-Europe Swift has a much sturdier structure and had achieved a 5-Star crash certification from Euro-NCAP.

Nissan’s Datsun Go received a zero-star safety rating on account of the vehicle structure collapsing and it was rated unstable during the test. The results further said the high forces placed on the crash test dummies pose a grave risk of death or serious injury. The Go’s body shell is so unstable that it would be pointless to include airbags in the car.

There is a strategic reason behind these discounts, says a senior industry executive on the condition of anonymity. "Dealers can claim 60% input tax credit on stocks lying unsold till June 30. While most companies have agreed to provide financial support to dealers during the transition, the effort is to liquidate inventory to the extent possible ahead of July 1." To lure customers who are waiting till GST gets implemented in the hope that prices would fall, Honda has come up with an innovative scheme. "If vehicle prices decline post GST, the company will directly refund the difference to the consumer. The buyer is not required to pay any additional amount if price of the model purchased goes up from July. Not willing to be left behind, Nissan has come up with price benefits of up to Rs 80,000 on its popular SUV Terrano, while Micra can be claimed at Rs 25,000 discount.
