Dadra and Nagar Haveli, the Union Territory in the Western India has only one Lok Sabha constituency. Hence the state can send only one MP for the Parliament from this state. Dadra and Nagar Haveli Lok Sabha Election Result 2019: BJP leads as per early trends

New Delhi, Jan 23 () The new union territory of Dadra &amp; Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu has been assigned new vehicle registration mark 'DD', the government said on Thursday.
 The Centre on Wednesday had designated Daman as the headquarters of the merged union territories of Daman and Diu, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
 "The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has assigned a new motor vehicle Registration Mark 'DD' to 'Dadra &amp; Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu' for registration of vehicles," MoRTH said in a statement.
 The ministry has issued a notification to this effect, under the Motor Vehicles Act 1988.

Dadra and Nagar Haveli has a single Lok Sabha constituency. The union territory that was ruled by the Portuguese till 1954 and then joined the Indian Union saw its first Lok Sabha elections in 1967. The total number of voters in this constituency is 1,96,597. The gender ratio of this figure is 1,06,203 males and 90,394 females. Dadra and Nagar Haveli is an urban constituency that has a very high percentage of literate voters. The literacy rate in the union territory is 77.65%. There is a very high concentration of Scheduled tribe population in Dadra and Nagar Haveli estimated at about 51.95%. During 2014 general elections for the Lok Sabha, Natubhai Gomanbhai Patel of the BJP won from this seat. Also, the BJP held this seat after its victory from here in 2009 elections. Mohanbhai Sanjibhai Delkar held this seat continuously for six terms from 1989 to 2004. During these six elections, two times he fought as an independent candidate, two times for the INR, once for the BJP and once for his own Bharatiya Navshakti Party. Dadra and Nagar Haveli has one Lok Sabha constituency. This constituency is unreserved. In 2014 general elections, this urban constituency showed a very high voter turnout estimated at 84.09%. The union territory went for polling during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections on April 23 during the third phase of elections in the country.

NHSRCL spokesperson Sushma Gaur said that the technical bids for contract packages of P-1(B) and P-1(C) for construction or building of bridges for the MAHSR corridor in the state of Gujarat as well union territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli. She said that as of now, 5 bidders for <keyword id="10880154" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="p-1">P-1</keyword> (C) whereas four bidders for P-1 (B) have submitted their bids for the package. She said that the P-1 (C) package includes construction of bridges for double line High Speed railway for four PSC Bridges and seven steel truss bridges between Zaroli Village at Maharashtra -- Gujarat Border and Vadodara, in Gujarat and the union territory of Dadar and Nagar Haveli for the project. Gaur said that for the P-1 (C) package, Ranjit Buildcon Limited, MG Contractors Pvt Ltd, KEC-SAM India JV and GRIL-GPT JV have participated in the technical bids. Meanwhile, package P-1 (B) includes the construction of bridges for double line high speed railway for one PSC Bridge and four steel truss bridges between Vadodara and <keyword id="5065" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ahmedabad">Ahmedabad</keyword>, in Gujarat for the project. She said that Ranjit Buildcon Limited, MG Contractors Pvt Ltd, KEC-SAM India JV and GRIL-GPT JV and URC Construction Pvt Ltd have participated in the technical bids. Bullet trains are expected to run at 320 km per hour covering the 508-km stretch in about two hours. Tech bids open for Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet train bridge project, says NHSRCL

Kabul announced on January 9 that a total of 72 detainees held at Bagram jail near Kabul would be freed due to lack of evidence, and an official said Monday that 37 were to be released initially.
The US military force in Afghanistan condemned the news of the releases, saying the prisoners were "dangerous insurgents" who had "Afghan blood on their hands".
The issue threatens further to strain US-Afghan relations, amid pressure for the two countries to sign a long-delayed security deal allowing some American soldiers to stay in the country after 2014.
Abdul Shukur Dadras from the government body reviewing detainees at Bagram, which was previously run by US forces, said 37 prisoners would be released soon.
"Their dossiers are reviewed, completed and we have ordered their release," Dadras told AFP.
"They will be released from the prison after the required technical and security procedures are completed. This will, I think, take more than one week and less than two weeks."
Dadras also said the review of the remaining prisoners was continuing.
Amid resurgent Taliban violence, US-Afghan relations are strained over a number of issues including President Hamid Karzai's refusal to sign a pact governing Washington's future military role in Afghanistan.
"The ARB (Afghan Review Board) is releasing back to society dangerous insurgents who have Afghan blood on their hands," the US military in Afghanistan said in a statement.
It said 17 of those about to be freed were linked to improvised explosive device attacks, the deadliest of the Taliban's weapons, while others were connected to the deaths or wounding of 11 Afghan and 42 US or coalition soldiers.
Bagram was the main detention centre housing Taliban and other insurgents captured by the Western military forces until it was transferred to Afghan control last year.
After taking control of the facility, Karzai appointed the ARB to investigate and reassess the detainees there.
On Saturday Karzai said Bagram, while under US administration, was "a Taliban-making factory" -- indicating it turned Afghans against their government.

The prisoners are being held at a jail at the Bagram air base north of Kabul. The United States only recently transferred the prison to Afghan control after it had become a serious source of tension with the Afghan government.
President Hamid Karzai instructed Afghan intelligence officials to provide the review board with more evidence against the prisoners, after the United States said there was proof of their involvement in the killing of foreign troops and they posed a serious threat to security.
But the head of the review board, Abdul Shakor Dadras, said the evidence did not warrant keeping the prisoners any longer.
"The documents we have seen so far provide no reason to convict them," Dadras told Reuters by telephone late on Sunday.
"Our decision is to release them as soon as possible if there is no incriminating evidence against them."
The disagreement over the prisoners is a further strain on Afghan-U.S. relations already seriously soured by Karzai's refusal to sign a bilateral security deal to shape the U.S. military presence after most foreign troops leave this year.
U.S. senators in Afghanistan last week pressed the president to stop the release, warning it would irreparably damage relations with the United States.
The planned release has also alarmed many senior Afghan security officials, who often see released prisoners return to the battlefield.
U.S. officials say about 40 percent of the prisoners were involved in attacks in which 57 Afghan civilians and members of the Afghan security forces were killed or wounded.
Thirty percent of the prisoners had taken part in direct attacks that killed or wounded 60 members of Afghanistan's U.S.-led NATO force.
Karzai's office did not immediately comment.
