Lying between Maharashtra in the south and Gujarat in the north, Dadra and Nagar Haveli is inhabited by a majority of Scheduled Tribes namely Varlies, Kokana, Dhodia and Dublas. Since more than half of the populace is made up by the Scheduled Tribes, Dadra and Nagar Haveli is designated as a ST constituency. For two consecutive terms, the BJP won from this union territory. The major threat for the BJP is from the Congress party this time as the INC has nominated a very popular tribal leader Delkar Mohanbhai Sanjibhai. He has won from here six times earlier and had become the MP. He founded the party known as Bharatiya Navshakti Party. Later he joined BJP and Congress jumping from here to there. He fought from this Lok Sabha seat on Congress ticket and bagged an encouraging result during 1991 and 1996 elections. In 1998, he joined the BJP. Then he contested as an independent candidate. In 2009, he joined the Congress party once again. There were rumors that he might join the BJP in 2014 and also in 2019. However, he chose to contest in the Congress ticket in 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

<keyword id="6354512" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Infosys">Infosys</keyword>' former CFO, T V <keyword id="6491998" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Mohandas-Pai">Mohandas Pai</keyword> today exhorted institutional investors to raise questions about the huge cash pile on the company's books and governance issues, as investors have an obligation to protect their investment. 
 "Capital allocation is very important. Institutional investors should raise those questions. They have a duty...institutional investors should raise questions on governance because it concerns the company's reputation," <keyword id="249145" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Pai">Pai</keyword> told <keyword id="6367495" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="PTI">PTI</keyword> in an interview. <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/infosys-employees-in-stresspromotions-and-increments-may-take-a-hit/articleshow/57095393.cms">ALSO READ: ​ Infosys employees in stress: Promotions and Increments may take a hit</a> 
 
Infosys had liquid assets, including cash and cash equivalents and investments worth Rs 35,697 crore (about $5.25 billion) on its books at the end of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/infosys-employees-in-stresspromotions-and-increments-may-take-a-hit/articleshow/57095393.cms">December 2016</a>. 
 
He asserted that founders, who hold 13% stake in the Bengaluru-based company, had raised these questions like any other investor would. 
 "The founders are investors like anybody else. They hold 13 per cent stake. They have every right to question the <keyword id="6364382" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Board">Board</keyword>... Since the largest shareholder has sought clarification, they must also seek detailed clarification," he said. 
 
Pai, along with former colleague <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/infosys-employees-in-stresspromotions-and-increments-may-take-a-hit/articleshow/57095393.cms">V Balakrishnan</a>, had sought a USD 1.8 billion buyback in 2014 just as CEO <keyword id="6369763" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vishal-Sikka">Vishal Sikka</keyword> was taking over. 
 
"We had raised the issue. We hope that other institutional investors will also raise their voice because the institutional investors have an obligation to protect their investment," he said. 
 
Pai explained that shareholders all over the world ask questions about capital allocation when growth slows down for listed companies, that have too much cash on books. 
 
"All over the world, for listed companies when growth slows down and there is too much cash, shareholders will ask what are they doing with the cash...about capital allocations. Most Boards around the world will respond with a buyback to show confidence in the company and stabilise the stock price," he said. 
 
Pai expressed hope that institutional investors who have a "fiduciary responsibility" to their unit holders, will also ask the same questions, as has been in the case of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/infosys-employees-in-stresspromotions-and-increments-may-take-a-hit/articleshow/57095393.cms">Cognizant</a>. 
 Last week, <keyword id="28721" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Cognizant">Cognizant</keyword>'s Board approved a plan to return USD 3.4 billion to shareholders over the next two years through share buybacks and dividend, following investor activism. 
 
"Why can't Infosys do something like Cognizant has done. That is very important for shareholders. I hope they ask him that at a time when growth is slowing down," he said. 
 
He said that while reports of the rift would not impact the company's performance but there is "some reputational damage because of this" and pointed out that the board "has to remedy this situation". 
 Over the last few days, Infosys has come under fire from founders like N R <keyword id="6355623" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Narayana-Murthy">Narayana Murthy</keyword> who have publicly raised concerns on alleged corporate governance lapses at <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/infosys-employees-in-stresspromotions-and-increments-may-take-a-hit/articleshow/57095393.cms">Infosys.</a> 
 
Infosys, however, has denied the allegations and said that its board is fully aligned with the strategic <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/infosys-employees-in-stresspromotions-and-increments-may-take-a-hit/articleshow/57095393.cms">direction of Sikka </a>and is very "appreciative of the initiatives taken by him in pursuance of this transformation".

Let me mind you, before the government’s scheme of wealth declaration, most of them wouldn’t have paid tax. Imagine this man was making Rs 80000- 1 lakh a month. 
 While this may sound like an isolated story, other Quora users have found that most reputed kebab sellers of <keyword id="6359570" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Chandni-chowk">Chandni Chowk</keyword> in Delhi earn not less than Rs 10000 profit each day. Even forget about Chandni Chowk where most people love to dine, you must have come across the shikanji (lime water) sellers below the metro stations in Delhi and <keyword id="53426" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="NCR">NCR</keyword>. During peak summer, most of them earn Rs 1500- Rs2000 a day. 
The most reputed breakfast in Delhi and UP, chhole batore would make you feel hungry at anytime of the day. If a Quora report is to be believed, many of them sell some 500 plates of chhole batore all through the day. They earn no less than Rs 1.5 lakh a month.

Talking to one of the pakora sellers, we found that earning profit in non veg items are easier than veg. That’s because most non vegetarian items expensive and there is no hard a fast rule about how much quantities of ingredients you need to add. 
 
However, just because a half of the fast food vendors, do keep in mind that not all samosawala earn the same and they shouldn’t be ignored. Have a samosa every week, pay on time and let the economy flow.

 Around 10 am on Wednesday morning, 81-year-old Pushpaben Dhamji Bhalla stepped out of her Landmark Tower residence in <keyword id="50155" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Dadar">Dadar</keyword> to go to the Hanuman Temple located right outside the complex. 
	But, as soon as she came out of the society gates, she was approached by a stranger who claimed to be a policeman. 
	 
	While flashing an ID card, he told her that he is one of the Crime Branch officials who are patrolling the area in civil clothes. He further added that she was in a very sensitive area and it would be best if she removed her gold bangles (which were worth around Rs 50,000) and put it in his big for safekeeping. 
	 
	He promised to return the ornaments to her when she crossed the danger zone and made it to the other side where he would meet her. 
	 
	Not one to be fooled, Pushpaben, who had doubted the stranger’s intentions from the very beginning, asked him to leave her alone. It was then that she noticed that he wasn’t alone and two more of his associates were waiting for him inside a taxi that was parked close by. 
	 
	Meanwhile, the stranger kept trying to convincing her. “When I refused, he got agitated and even tried to force me to obey. But I was adamant and refused to follow his orders. When he tried to grab my hand, I hit him hard, three to four times, with my walking stick," she recounted. 
	 
	On hearing the scuffle, a vegetable vendor came to her rescue from the other side of the road. Some pedestrians also stopped to ask her if everything was fine. 
	 
	It was only then that the man realised that he had not only underestimated Pushpaben but also made a huge mistake. But, before he could escape, the crowd overpowered him and called the police, claimed a cop from RAK Marg police. 
	 
	The man was later identified as Ali Raza Aziz Jaffari (49), a resident of Ambivli. 
	 
	When asked whether this incident would make her think twice before stepping out again, she was quick to reply, “I am not scared at all. If this happens again, I will do the same thing- hit the crooks with the stick,” 
	 Her <keyword id="55338" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bravery">bravery</keyword> and quick thinking has impressed not only her family but also Siddharth Kasbe, the Senior Police Inspector from RAK Marg station. 
	 
	"Pushpaben is an example for other women who fall prey to such fake cops. Despite her age, she caught hold of the accused and got him arrested."

BJP Leader Tawde said in a post on social media "X", "Prime Minister @NarendraModi ji had given a guarantee to make the life of Mumbaikars easier and this is going to be fulfilled. Mumbai's first underground metro (Aqua Line) is starting from July 24, which will give new impetus to the speed of the city." This new metro line will cover a distance of 33.5 kilometres. Mumbai's first underground metro line will run through Colaba, <keyword id="19907248" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bandra" source="keywords">Bandra</keyword>, and <keyword id="20170419" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="SEEPZ" source="keywords">SEEPZ</keyword> (Santacruz Electronics Export Processing Zone). Running a 33.5 km route from Aarey Colony to Cuffe Parade with 27 stops, it will transform urban transit, easing travel across Mumbai's streets and reducing traffic congestion. The new metro line will have stations at Cuffe Parade, Vidhan Bhavan, Churchgate, Hutatma Chowk, CST Metro, Kalbadevi, Girgaon, Grant Road, Mumbai Central Metro, Mahalaxmi, Science Museum, Acharya Atre Chowk, Worli, Siddhivinayak, Dadar, Shitladevi, Dharavi, BKC, Vidyanagari, Santacruz, Domestic Airport, Sahar Road, International Airport, Marol Naka, MIDC, SEEPs and Aarey Depot. Separately, in the last week of June this year, the government of Maharashtra decided to complete the <keyword id="21117856" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="Mumbai-Metro" source="keywords">Mumbai Metro</keyword> 3 project by the end of December 2024. The first phase of Mumbai Metro 3, will run between SEEPZ (Santacruz Electronics Export Processing Zone) and Bandra Kurla Complex. The project will be completed by the end of December 2024, which was initially scheduled to be completed by September 2024. During the cabinet meeting, Maharashtra's Chief Minister Eknath Shinde gave its nod to giving the state government's share of Rs 1,163 crore directly to the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation, instead of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) for the completion of the project. According to the government, the project has achieved the completion of 98% and its revised cost is Rs 37,275.50 crore. As per the information available on the website of Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation, about 99.2% of civil works under the project have been completed. About 97% of the overall station construction has been completed. Under the project, tunnelling works have been fully completed, while 77.6% of overall systems work, depot civil works 99.8% and mainline track works have been completed almost 87% The introduction of the metro transportation system has witnessed a significant response in the city as the daily ridership of the Mumbai Metro has witnessed a significant increase. On July 24, 2023, the ridership reached 2,12,490, followed by 2,18,635 on July 25, 2023. The highest recorded ridership was on July 26, 2023, with 2,22,290 passengers. This surge in ridership has been observed specifically on the Metro 2A and 7 lines, Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation said in a release.

Mumbai's first underground metro line set to begin operations on July 24

Mumbai, Feb 23 (PTI) Former <keyword id="19895394" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="lok-sabha" source="keywords">Lok Sabha</keyword> Speaker Manohar <keyword id="19952829" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="joshi" source="keywords">Joshi</keyword> passed away at a Mumbai hospital on Friday, where he was admitted after suffering a cardiac arrest. Joshi (86) was admitted to <keyword id="20694838" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="hinduja-hospital" source="keywords">Hinduja Hospital</keyword> in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on February 21 and passed away early Friday, the private medical facility said. Joshi Sir, as he was popularly known, was the first chief minister of the undivided Shiv Sena and held the post during 1995-1999. He was admitted to the hospital in May last year after suffering a brain haemorrhage. He was also elected as a member of Parliament and was the Lok Sabha Speaker from 2002 to 2004 when the Vajpayee government was in power. Born on December 2, 1937 in coastal Konkan region of Maharashtra, Joshi obtained his Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from the prestigious Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI) in Mumbai. His political career began with his involvement in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and he later became a member of the Shiv Sena. In the 1980s, Joshi emerged as a key leader within the Shiv Sena, and was known for his organisational skills. He was the Lok Sabha Speaker from 2002 to 2004 when the Vajpayee government was in power. The former Union minister was married to Anagha Joshi, who died in 2020 at the age of 75. He is survived by a son and two daughters. Joshi began his career as a teacher and entered politics in 1967. He was associated with the Shiv Sena for more than four decades. He was a municipal councilor in Mumbai during 1968-70 and Chairman, Standing Committee of the Mumbai municipal corporation in 1970. He was the Mayor of Mumbai during 1976-1977. He was then elected to the Maharashtra Legislative Council in 1972. After serving three terms in the Legislative Council, Joshi was elected to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly in 1990 and was the Leader of the Opposition in the assembly during 1990-91. In the 1999 general elections, Joshi won from the Mumbai North-Central Lok Sabha Constituency as a Shiv Sena candidate, and was later Union minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises. Condoling Joshi's demise, Union minister Nitin Gadkari, who was a member of the Maharashtra ministry when the former was the CM, said the state had lost a "cultured face" of politics. Joshi's family said his last rites will be performed at Shivaji Park crematorium in Dadar area.

Former Lok Sabha speaker Manohar Joshi passes away at 86

Mumbai, Former Lok Sabha Speaker and ex-Maharashtra Chief Minister Manohar G. <keyword id="19952829" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="joshi" source="keywords">Joshi</keyword>, a senior <keyword id="19905334" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="shiv-sena" source="keywords">Shiv Sena</keyword> (UBT) leader, passed away following a heart attack early on Friday morning. "Our family is deeply saddened to inform you that <keyword id="20281058" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="manohar-joshi" source="keywords">Manohar Joshi</keyword> passed away today morning at 3 a.m. following prolonged age related health issues," his family said in a terse announcement at dawn. Joshi, 86, was rushed to the Hinduja Hospital in Mahim after suffering a heart attack late on Thursday. 'Sir', as he was popular in political circles because of his teaching background and a stern demeanour, succumbed during treatment around 3 a.m., plunging the state political fraternity into gloom. His family said that Joshi's mortal remains will be kept at their home in Matunga to enable people to pay their last respects from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., and then taken in a procession for the funeral at Dadar Crematorium around 3 p.m. One of the closest confidantes of the late Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray, Joshi had over six decades in politics starting as a Municipal Corporator, then Mayor, Maharashtra CM, Union Minister, then crowning glory as the Speaker of Lok Sabha. Joshi had been suffering from certain old-age related ailments for the past several months and largely kept out of public glare, but remained with the SS-UBT, till he breathed his last. Top leaders across the political spectrum have paid rich tributes to Joshi who headed the first-ever saffron government in the state comprising the undivided Shiv Sena-Bharatiya Janata Party (1995-1999), in an era when politics was more principled and less unscrupulous. Prime Minister <keyword id="19895781" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="narendra-modi" source="keywords">Narendra Modi</keyword> condoled the demise of the veteran leader. "Pained by the passing away of Shri Manohar Joshi Ji. He was a veteran leader who spent years in public service and held various responsibilities at the municipal, state and national level. As Maharashtra CM, he worked tirelessly for the state's progress. He also made noteworthy contributions as a Union Minister. During his tenure as the Lok Sabha Speaker, he strove to make our Parliamentary processes more vibrant and participative. Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy CMs Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, mourned the demise of Joshi and recalled his services to the state and country. Shiv Sena (UBT) President and ex-CM <keyword id="19905331" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="uddhav-thackeray" source="keywords">Uddhav Thackeray</keyword>, who is in Buldhana, cut short his political tour to rush to Mumbai to pay his respects to Joshi. Top SS-UBT leaders, including Leader of Opposition Ambadas Danve, Aditya Thackeray, Sanjay Raut, Arvind Sawant, Sushma Andhare, Kishore Tiwari, and others paid rich tributes to Joshi, and remembered his contributions at various levels in public life. State and Central Bharatiya Janata Party leaders, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena Chief Raj Thackeray, leaders of Maha Vikas Aghadi and other parties also condoled the demise of Joshi.

He was 56 and breathed his last around 12.30 a.m. at a private hospital after long fight with cancer. Bedekar's last rites shall be held around noon today at a crematorium in south Mumbai.
