The University of Delhi also abbreviated as DU is a public central university created in 1922. DU offers a wide range of courses in the under graduation, graduation, doctoral levels besides many diploma courses across a diverse range of fields like humanities, science, commerce, management, law, and engineering. Here we discuss how to get admission to the DU for the various graduate programs. Entry into Delhi University Admissions to DU are based on merit. The candidates seeking admission to the various courses need to clear an entrance examination conducted by NATA. For management courses, the scores of the CAT examination will be considered. Eligibility criteria for admission While seeking admission to the various courses in DU, students must ascertain if they satisfy the eligibility criteria specified by the university. Entrance examination pattern The entrance examination pattern of the DU consists of multiple choice questions excepting in case of admission to language courses. The total duration of the entrance examination will be two hours. The students will have to take the entrance tests on computer-based mode. For UG courses, each question carries four marks with one negative mark for a wrong answer. The syllabus for the entrance tests for the UG courses will be based on the topics students studied in their plus 2 levels in their respective streams. The way to score well in the DU entrance exams for graduation courses includes becoming familiar with the exam syllabus, mastering the exam preparation materials available in the market, and practicing the previous year question papers. Admission process after the entrance examinations The results of the various entrance exams will be announced online in the month of July. For each of the categories, a separate merit list will be prepared by the university. The students are required to take a print out of the results for moving ahead with the subsequent admission process. For admission to the various merit-based UG courses, the university will announce the cutoff. The same will be published on the official website of the DU. The cut off will vary year on year depending on the demand of the seats in the given course. Candidates scoring the marks specified in the cut off can apply for admission. Scanned copies of the required documents will have to be uploaded online and once the admission is approved, the candidates will have to pay the admission fee online.

Delhi University to begin academic session from August 10 with online classes

Delhi University is conducting online open book exams for final semester students of postgraduate and undergraduate courses. The move was opposed by students and teachers who were demanding that the exams be scrapped. The varsity has also commenced online classes for third and fifth semester students from August 10. During an online briefing, Abha Dev Habib, a Delhi University professor, said teachers and students have been left out from the decision-making process to hold online classes. "The decision of online open book exams was taken without thinking about students. What will happen to students in Kashmir and those stuck in floods. The students do not have gadgets for online classes. "The decision was taken without consulting the statutory bodies -- the Academic and Executive Council," she alleged. Unni Maya, a student of Lady Shri Ram College in Delhi University, said the varsity has gone ahead with the decision to hold online classes without thinking about the mental health and well-being of students. Taking online classes means that students have to spend a high screen time in front of their mobiles or laptops which impacts their health. She demanded that the varsity should think about funding and providing gadgets to students and it should also release department-wise data on how many students have availed online classes. Students and teachers of other universities also raised similar issues. Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union president Aishe Ghosh said the varsity administration is not concerned about teaching-learning process or about students in Kashmir who still do not have access to a proper internet connectivity, or about flood-affected students or those who contracted COVID-19. "Students are being pressurised to register for the next semester at a time when the UGC has also said that the varsities must finish the current semester by September 30. There is no meaning of registration. The varsity administration is continuously creating issues," she said. She also alleged that the students of MBA and Engineering are being charged lakhs of rupees despite not having access to labs and having part-time faculty. "I would call it daylight robbery. Even the representatives from these departments have been pressurised to not raise their voice," she said. She also urged the varsity to ensure phased return of students to the campus by following proper medical protocols and establishing quarantine centres inside the premises. Voices were also raised from Delhi government-run Ambedkar University against online classes and how the administration and even the state government has not heard their pleas. Shubhojeet Dey of Ambedkar University said they had conducted a survey among students and found that 48 per cent of students had access to smartphones while two per cent did not have access to any gadget for accessing online classes. Only 50 per cent of the students have access to laptops, he said, adding that 62 per cent out of these do not have laptops for more than three hours since the laptop is also used by their siblings, who are either studying or are working. "It was found that 73 per cent of students do not have stable internet connection and 98 per cent of the female students were also supposed to contribute to household chores. We have even approached the authorities and even the Delhi government with our problems but there has been no resolution," he added. The students had boycotted the orientation class which was held to introduce the students to courses. Listing out the demands of the students, Dey said they want that the classes should be postponed by a month and laptops should be procured for students from disadvantaged sections and data packs should be given to all the students. Delhi University hikes fees, holds online classes — students and teachers voice their concern

The Chartered Financial Analyst (<keyword id="163783" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="CFA">CFA</keyword>) exams are considered among the most difficult tests on Wall Street.
There are three levels of exams and all three will be <a href="http://www.cfainstitute.org/programs/cfaprogram/exams/Pages/cfa_exam_calendars.aspx">administered on June 1</a>.
One of the more basic concepts that get addressed on the exams is return on equity (ROE).
Simply put, ROE is net income over a company's book value of equity.
Unfortunately, ROE alone doesn't tell you much about a company's operating or capital structure.
That's why analysts decompose the ROE into multiple components (see below).
CFA exam test-takers are exposed to at least two decompositions of ROE. The more complicated one is the DuPont model.
Goldman Sachs recently included the formula for reference in a recent note sent out to its clients.

<li>Assets/Equity: This gives a measure of financial leverage. When this ratio is high, liabilities are high, which suggests a high level of leverage.</li>
<li>Tax: This capture the companies effective tax rate.</li>

As you can see, this is much more information than what you would get from just a income and equity.

Goldman Sachs Explains The 'Return On Equity' Formula That Every CFA Test Taker Needs To Know

The <keyword id="6355014" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="delhi-high-court">Delhi High Court</keyword> on Friday gave its nod for the conduct of online <keyword id="9315547" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="open-book-examinations">Open Book Examinations</keyword> (OBE) for final-year students of <keyword id="6360099" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="delhi-university">Delhi University</keyword>. Justice Prathiba M Singh, while giving the go-ahead, passed certain directions to be followed by the DU and the University Grants Commission (UGC). The court directed that the questions should be posted on online portal as well as emailed to all the candidates. "Students are to be given two hours for attempting the question papers. One extra hour shall be granted for uploading of the answer sheets on the portal," the court said. It directed that an auto-generated email shall be sent to the students to acknowledge that their answer sheets have been accepted. The bench also directed the CSC Academy -- whose Common Service Centres will be used by the students lacking in requisite infrastructure to sit in the exams -- to notify all its centres to be used for the conduct of OBE. "DU Grievances Officer shall redress the emailed complaints of students regarding the process within 48 hours. If not, the matter shall automatically be referred to the Grievances Redressal Committee," the High Court added. The court had on Wednesday reserved orders on a batch of pleas that challenged the university decision to conduct online Open Book Examinations for final-year students. Initially, the varsity announced that the exams would commence from July 1, but later postponed the same to July 10 and again till August 15 without giving a specific date for examinations.

The UGC response was conveyed by its counsel, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, on a batch of pleas that challenged the UGC schedule for final-year university exams before September 30. Mehta contended before a bench headed by Justice Ashok Bhushan that it's not in the interest of students to not hold exams. He asked the top court for time to file a reply to Delhi and Maharashtra governments' affidavits, wherein they said they had decided to cancel the exams in state universities. The petitioners' counsel contended that the UGC guideline for holding exams are "not legally or constitutionally valid". Mehta argued that Delhi's and Maharashtra's decisions to cancel exams in their respective state universities are against the UGC rules. He argued that the UGC is the only body that can prescribe rules for conferring a degree, and the state governments cannot change the rules. The counsel for one of the petitioners replied that there is complete inconsistency in the Ministry of Human Resource Development and UGC guidelines. The top court adjourned the hearing till Friday, after the UGC asked for time to respond to the affidavits filed by Delhi and Maharashtra. Degrees won't be recognised if no exams held: UGC tells SC

The new board will have separate grades for all subjects, focussing on the career interest of the student. "You have four grades for subjects. For instance, divide science into four grades — science for doctors and engineers, science for sportsperson, science for humanities. If a child wants to become a journalist, he can take A grade language and maybe C grade of science so that if he has to cover science, he is well-versed with the basics," Sisodia explained. The move aims to provide a blended learning experience to students. As of now, the school curriculum helps them with only 10% of entrance examination syllabus, making them go for extra coaching classes. This comes on the back of massive opposition in the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/cbse-exam-registration-fee-hike-rolled-back/articleshow/70669606.cms">examination fee hikes</a> rolled out by CBSE. The board increased the exam registration fee for SC and ST students by 24 times, making it ₹1,200 from the existing ₹50. It also doubled the exam fee for class 10th and 12th students of general category to ₹1,500, which was ₹750. However, it rolled back the fee to ₹50 for the Scheduled Caste(SC)/ Scheduled Tribes (ST) students studying at government schools. Delhi will get a new education board which will blend entrance exam prep with school syllabus

Delhi's Seelampur Basti could not stop rejoicing when 14 children who grew up here were abe to make their way to the prestigious <keyword id="6360099" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Delhi-University">Delhi University</keyword> by the time the second cut-off list was out. 
 
14 students, 12 of whom are girls, have secured admission in popular North campus colleges out of the 78 students who appeared for class XII examination from Seelampur slum area. 
 The highest scorer Saugatha has managed to secure a seat in Urdu Honours in <keyword id="117655" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kirori-Mal-College">Kirori Mal College</keyword> at 86.5 per cent. Her father is a street vendor. 
 
Even as the credit goes to these hard working students who have made their basti proud, significant efforts by an NGO called Asha in educating the slum children and helping them achieve higher education, has been instrumental in helping such bright kids enter Delhi University year-on-year. 
 
Last year, a whopping 114 students guided by this NGO had made the cut. Sandeep, with 94% marks, got the highest score in this group in 2015. He lived in a slum in north Delhi’s Peeragarhi and managed to secure a seat in Rajdhani College for B.Com (Hons). The year before, in 2014, least 150 slum kids got admission in DU. 
 
For these students, the main difficulty was not just to get resources to study, but a larger battle of convincing parents to allow them to pursue education as against using them to start earning and contributing to the family income. For Asha the NGO, there have been such challenges of counseling the family, especially that of girls, before they can start educating and preparing the kid for exams. Their help then extends to dressing them up with new clothes, planning their travel, helping them fill college admission forms, get educational loans for those who wish to study in private colleges. 
 
Since 2008, Asha has been helping students from the slums to go to university. In the first batch, 20 students had got admission in DU and the numbers have been increasing since then. Although this year the students qualifying to DU are less than last year, its too early to say because three cut-off lists are still awaited.

For the remaining amount, CBSE will take up reimbursement of increased fees directly with Delhi state government after finalising the list of candidates, news agency IANS reported quoting a statement from CBSE.
