With this campaign, we would like to change this perception and emphasize that women partners and women employees in our partner organizations are equally instrumental in delivering entertainment to every viewer household. Before World Television Day, Star India Network launches a new campaign as a tribute to DTH and cable fraternity

TRAI recently released its new <a href="https://www.bgr.in/how-to/trai-new-rules-dth-operators-february-1-dish-tv-select-channels-base-plan-a-la-carte-free-to-air-channel-selector/">guidelines</a> regarding the broadcasting and pricing over DTH and Cable TV services. All the DTH companies including Dish TV, Tata Sky, and Airtel Digital TV have already announced the different channel packs they have got on offer. Dish TV has pre-selected its customers’ channel packages as per their old plan and has moved them automatically to the new packages. However, if you are working with other operators, you will need to select your TV channel preferences on your cable service provider platform to avail of the new tariff. As part of its momentous announcement, TRAI had issued strict guidelines to the broadcasters to streamline the selection and pricing options of the cable or DTH channels. The move is intended to let the consumers avail of the cable and DTH services at a minimal cost without having to waste money on paying for the channels they never use. The new regulations brought in by TRAI lets the customers pay only for those channels they want to watch. TRAI has released a Channel Selector App that will let the customer know the estimate of the subscription charges meant for the channels they have selected. Similar to how it works with other DTH service providers, the consumers of Dish TV can also do the channel selection in three ways. The first way is to call the Dish TV customer care. The second route is to make use of the My DishTV app to do the channel selection. The third way is to visit Dishtv.in website and choose the channels you want using your login credentials. Here is a step by step procedure to choosing the channels on DishTV on the company’s dedicated website. Step One Visit the DishTV website. Go to ‘Subscriber Corner’ that you will find on the top right corner of the website. You can also land on the Subscriber Corner by clicking on the banner ad that has notified “Register your choice as per TRAI’s new mandate.” Step Two The Subscriber Corner page will prompt you to log in. You can do this either by using your VC number or registered ten digit mobile number. Also, you can choose to give your password or log in using OTP. Step Three Once you have logged in, the account page on Dish TV’s page will show up the selection page by default arrangement. In case it does not open itself, you can open it by clicking on ‘Packs &amp; Channels’. Step Four On the ‘Packs &amp; Channels’ page you will see ‘Select Your Zone’ option that will cover the regional bouquet of channels DishTV offers. This will be based on languages of the North and South regions. Step Five After you have selected your zone, you will see the list and details of Dish Combo packs, Add-Ons, Channels, and Bouquets. Based on your preferences you can add them to your cart and checkout. In the five simple steps given above, you will have created your own unique channel package based on your viewing preferences. Now you can enjoy the benefits of revised pricing as per the new TRAI regulations.

Step-by-step guide to select channels under India’s new cable TV

<ul><li>Ad revenues from Radio for the July-September quarter in 2020 was Rs 198.53 crore, an increase from Rs 98.41 crore in the previous quarter, according to <keyword id="6356988" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="trai">TRAI</keyword>.</li><li>The report further stated that <keyword id="10635973" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="pay-dth">Pay DTH</keyword> has attained total active subscriber base of around 70.70 million in India. </li></ul>The reported advertisement revenue during the quarter ending September 30 2020 in respect of 366 private <keyword id="6398872" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="FM-radio">FM Radio</keyword> stations is Rs 198.53 crore, according to the <keyword id="30356" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Telecom-Regulatory-Authority-of-India">Telecom Regulatory Authority of India</keyword>'s (TRAI) The Indian Telecom Services Performance Indicators report for July-September. The report also states that the ad revenue in the previous quarter, that is, the quarter ending on June 30, 2020 in respect of 366 private FM Radio stations was Rs 98.41 crore. (One FM Radio Broadcaster, M/s Gwalior Firm Private Limited, operating in the city of Guwahati, has not submitted the advertisement revenue). The report further stated that Pay DTH has attained total active subscriber base of around 70.70 million. This is in addition to the subscribers of the DD Free Dish (free DTH services of <keyword id="6408304" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="doordarshan">Doordarshan</keyword>). The total active subscriber base has increased from 70.58 million in June 2020 to 70.70 million in September 2020. The country has also achieved 100% digitization of <keyword id="6395218" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="cable-TV">Cable TV</keyword> network, the report noted. “This is a stupendous achievement making India as the only large country where 100% digital cable has been achieved through mandatory regulations,” added TRAI.

Radio ad revenue for July-Sept quarter in 2020 was Rs 198.53 crore: TRAI

Since 2014, the DTH category has begun focusing on small towns and villages in India, and these are markets where the demand for bite-size consumption exists. <keyword id="94550" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tata-Sky">Tata Sky</keyword>, a DTH service provider in India has introduced the 'Daily Recharge,' voucher empowering subscribers to pay only for the days they watched TV. This concept allows a minimum recharge value starting at Rs.8/-, making it the smallest denomination of recharge voucher in the television viewing sector globally. 
 
Available as a scratch coupon, the recharge is also available in higher denominations of Rs. 10, 20, 50 and 100 and will be effective for a maximum of 24 hours, midnight-to-midnight. These cards will be available even at general stores and small kiosks, including grocery (kirana) stores, across the country. 
 
For such a unique product the campaign also had to be innovative. What the company had to achieve was a behavioral shift, hence they went beyond the 30 second format of TV advertising as it would have left the consumers with a new piece of information but would have failed at engaging them. The challenge here was to amplify the everyday usage of the brand and thus the benefits associated with it. 
 Tata Sky, along with its agency <keyword id="456680" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ogilvy-Mather-India">Ogilvy &amp; Mather India</keyword> launched this product with a unique love story that promotes everyday usage in an interesting manner. The promise: "Daily milenge toh pyaar to hoga hi" is a simple expression of the product benefit and the brand promise. 
To further reinforce daily usage, the campaign evolves over multiple episodes. Set in a small town in Kashmir, the multiple episodes slowly unravels how the product works and intelligently amplifies the benefits of Daily Recharge, through Mannu (Prit Kamani) and Neelu (Himani Sisodiya) the protagonists of the love story. 
 
 
 Speaking about the idea behind the campaign, <keyword id="2811220" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sukesh-Nayak">Sukesh Nayak</keyword>, Executive Creative Director, O&amp;M Advertising, says, "The product was innovative so the creative idea had to be innovative. For daily recharge we came up with an idea of daily love story. Every day the love story unfolds itself with a new film on national television.  The campaign, which is launched during the <keyword id="6354312" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="IPL">IPL</keyword>, also has a strong interactive leg to it. The boy and girl update their social profiles on daily basis as the story unfolds. Besides, people also end up helping the boy decide what to do next every single day, through the <a href="http://www.tatasky.com/wps/portal/TataSky/campaigns/dailyrecharge1" rel="nofollow">Daily Dillagi contest</a>, which is inviting contestants to take part and help out Mannu make his moves in getting the love of his life and stand a chance to win a Tata Sky connection.

With the understanding that there is a demand in smaller towns and villages for bite sized consumption (much like shampoo sachets and small sized mobile recharges), the 'Daily Recharge' card enables Tata Sky to make inroads into these untapped markets. Moreover, with digitization phase III still a year away, this plan should help accelerate acceptance of DTH sector in India. 
 
This innovation by Tata Sky puts the subscriber in control of his/her TV viewing expenses. There are a substantial number of subscribers who pay a monthly charge, but for some reason or another are unable to view TV on a daily basis. Tata Sky's Daily recharge now enables them to now choose when to pay for their TV viewing. 
 This consumer today in most regions still perceives the DTH category as premium and expensive, as compared to the local cable. Tata Sky's Daily recharge in this case tackles this barrier by providing an entry to the world of quality television viewing at a price lesser than any MSO or <keyword id="174153" type="POSITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="DTH-player">DTH player</keyword> in the world. Not only in small towns and villages, also the urban metros, Daily Recharge will become a huge incentive for consumers to shift from Analog to digital, thereby adding to the cause of digitization.

Tata Sky Tells A New Love Story, Which Unfolds Everyday!

NewSpace India Limited (<keyword id="7835598" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="nsil" source="Orion">NSIL</keyword>) launched GSAT-24 in its first "demand-driven" communication satellite mission post space sector reforms, leasing the entire capacity on board to Direct-to-Home (DTH) service provider <keyword id="13033014" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="tata-play" source="Orion">Tata Play</keyword>. Built by Indian Space Research Organisation for NSIL, the satellite was successfully placed into geostationary orbit by the Ariane 5 rocket, operated by French company Arianespace, from Kourou in French Guiana (South America) on Thursday. GSAT-24 is a 24-Ku band communication satellite weighing 4180 kg with pan-India coverage for meeting DTH application needs. NSIL, incorporated in March 2019, is a Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE), under Department of Space (DOS) and is the commercial arm of ISRO. As part of "space reforms" announced by the Government in June 2020, NSIL was mandated to undertake operational satellite missions on a "demand driven" model, wherein it has the responsibility to build, launch, own &amp; operate satellites and provide services to its committed customer. The entire satellite capacity on-board GSAT-24 will be leased to its committed customer Tata Play, the DTH business of Tata Group, for meeting their DTH application needs. The Ariane 5 has successfully placed two satellites into geostationary orbit: MEASAT-3d for the Malaysian operator MEASAT, and GSAT-24, Arianespace said after launching them on-board Ariane-V VA257 flight from the Guiana Space Centre, Europe's spaceport in Kourou. GSAT-24 is configured on ISRO's proven I-3k Bus with a mission life of 15 years. "'Demand-driven' mode basically means when a satellite is launched, one will know who the end customers are going to be and what's the kind of utilisation and commitment so that you have very effective utilisation of this satellite capacity once it goes into orbit", an NSIL official explained. "Earlier, the mode was more supply driven, with capacity being leased after the launch with largely no firm commitment by customers before hand", the official noted. "The entire mission is fully funded by NSIL -- satellite, launch, launch campaign, insurance, transportation, in-orbit maintenance and support. Once the satellite is up in orbit, this will be fully owned and operated by NSIL," NSIL Chairman and Managing Director Radhakrishnan Durairaj told PTI. "So, we will be the satellite operator for this particular satellite," he said. Tata Play rents the entire capacity of the newly launched GSAT-24 satellite

New Delhi, Dec 22 () Zee Entertainment on Sunday clarified that all its television channels in Tamil Nadu are fully operational across leading cable and DTH operators.
 No changes have been made in the consumer price (MRP) of the individual channels or channel packs whatsoever, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL) said in a statement.
 "The viewers have expressed their disappointment for not being able to view their favourite ZEE Channels, despite having paid for the same. Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL) wishes to clarify that all of its television channels in Tamil Nadu are fully operational across leading cable and DTH operators, including Tamil Nadu Arasu Cable TV Corporation Ltd, SCV and V K Digital," it said.
 The channels are also available across all leading DTH operators viz. Airtel Digital TV, Tata Sky, Dish TV, d2h, and Sun Direct, it said adding there has been no change in the consumer price (MRP) of the individual channels or channel packs whatsoever.
 Zee Prime Tamil SD pack, competitively priced at Rs 10 only, is the best value pack in Tamil Nadu market, when compared to other similar bouquets available in the same market.
 ZEEL has issued all the required communications to its esteemed viewers informing and urging them to approach their respective cable operators with a request to reactivate the channels, for which they have already paid Rs 10, as part of their monthly subscription, it said.
 "This communication is purely issued in the interest of all our viewers, since ZEEL has received several complaints and requests through emails and social media platforms, wherein the consumers have mentioned that their cable operators have removed the ZEE Bouquet from their channel packs, without any communication or reason," the statement said. New Delhi, May 30 () Yes Bank said it has acquired over 24 per cent stake in Dish TV India following invocation of pledged shares due to debt default by the DTH service provider and other group firms. Yes Bank Limited, pursuant to invocation of pledged shares, has acquired 44,53,48,990 equity shares of Dish TV India Limited constituting approximately 24.19 per cent of the post-issue paid-up share capital as at March 31, 2020, it said in a regulatory filing. Shares were acquired on invocation of pledge subsequent to default/breach of terms of loan to Dish TV India Limited, it said. Further, Yes Bank said there was default/breach of terms of credit facilities sanctioned by it to Essel Business Excellence Services, Essel Corporate Resources, Living Entertainment Enterprises, Last Mile Online, Pan India Network Infravest, RPW Projects Private, Mumbai WTR and Pan India Infraprojects. The companies are part of the Subhash Chandra-led Essel Group. Dish TV is a direct to home (DTH) entertainment service provider. Yes Bank acquires 24 pc stake in Dish TV post invocation of pledged shares

New Delhi, Jun 5 () Yes Bank on Friday clarified that it invoked pledged shares of direct-to-home (DTH) company Dish TV last month due to payment defaults by various Essel Group companies. Yes Bank on May 29 announced that it has acquired 24.19 per cent stake (44,53,48,990 equity shares) in Dish TV India following invocation of pledged shares due to debt default by the DTH service provider and other group firms. However on June 1, Dish TV issued a clarification via exchange filing stating that Yes Bank was incorrect in saying that it had acquired Dish TV shares on invocation of pledged shares subsequent to default/breach of terms of loans to the company. "At the outset,...Dish TV India Ltd is not in default of any payment obligations to Yes Bank under the financing facility availed from Yes Bank," Dish TV said. Yes Bank in a filing on Friday stated that its disclosure on May 29 clearly mentioned that the pledge has been invoked due to default/ breach by various Essel Group companies. Clarifying about particulars in a section of May 29 filing that stated invocation of pledge subsequent to default/breach of terms of loan to Dish TV India, Yes Bank said it was an inadvertent mistake, rather it were Essel group companies that were in default of loans. The DTH operator had also said that Yes Bank's statement that no government or regulatory approval was applicale for invocation of pledged shares was "factually incorrect". Yes Bank replied that it was in compliance with the regulations (save and except the inadvertent error that acquisition of shares happened because of Dish TV's default of loans) and pursuant to exercise of rights granted to it under a valid contract. Yes Bank shares closed 3.04 per cent up at Rs 28.80 apiece on BSE. Dish TV closed 4.83 per cent higher at Rs 4.83 apiece. The lender said it would like to clarify that due to persistent breach and defaults by various Essel Group companies, the bank vide its letter dated July 24, 2019 had called upon the borrowers and World Crest Advisors LLP and Direct Media Distribution Ventures Private Limited (the Pledgors) to make payment of the outstanding amount due to the Bank. Failing the payment, Yes Bank had said that it would be constrained to invoke the pledged shares (pledge created in favour of the security trustee for the benefit of the bank) and to sell the same to recover the outstanding amounts due to the bank. "As the borrowers and pledgors have failed to repay the outstanding amount due to the bank, the bank was compelled to invoke the pledged shares on May 29, 2020," Yes Bank said. KPM MR MR

<ul><li><keyword id="15508" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="YouGov">YouGov</keyword>’s survey reveals TV subscribers are indeed moving online for content after the <keyword id="7319532" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="trai-order">TRAI order</keyword> was passed. </li><li>Not only have people increased their digital content viewing time in the past year, some have unsubscribed their DTH connections and moved completely online for content. </li></ul>As the New Tariff Order 2.0 proposed by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is likely to come into effect starting March 1, 2020, YouGov ran a survey to understand the impact of the original order on the content consumption habits of Indian consumers. As per the earlier order, users were to choose channels they liked and pay standardised rates for only those. Although this move was meant to enhance the customer’s television viewing experience, people did not seem too happy with its execution. According to the research done by YouGov in 2019, when the order was first passed, half of the 1020 surveyed respondents (49%) indicated their likeliness to spend more time online watching original content as a result of this amendment. One year later, the 2020 research findings show that this is exactly what has happened and people seem to have migrated online for content. Around half of Indian DTH subscribers (48%) said the amount of time they spend watching original online content (on <keyword id="128682" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Netflix">Netflix</keyword>, Amazon Prime, <keyword id="2739840" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hotstar">Hotstar</keyword>, etc.) has increased after the implementation of the TRAI tariff order last year. Almost as many (42%) said the same for time spent watching television content digitally. On the contrary, the TRAI guidelines seem to have adversely impacted the business of television and 43% said their TV-viewing time has decreased in the last year. Furthermore, one in six (16%) claimed to have unsubscribed from a DTH connection or network because of the TRAI rule, and one in five (21%) have unsubscribed and moved entirely online for content. <div type="image" title="image003 (9)" msid="74376177" hostid="261"></div>

 Men were more likely than women to disconnect their cable connection (19% vs 13%) while the youngest generation- GenZ, were more likely than the rest to not just unsubscribe but migrate online as well (26%). The New Tariff Order 2.0 is likely to make subscriptions affordable by offering consumers 200 channels with the base slab of INR 130 as opposed to 100 channels offered earlier. The data shows that the majority of respondents (60%) favour the revised order, 14% disapprove of it and 26% have no view in this regard. Support could be due to the fact that people positively perceive this change and more than half (56%) feel it will empower them to choose the channels they like. Although people largely support it, many (36%) feel the new amendment will confuse consumers by giving them too many options to choose from. Following the introduction of the TRAI regulatory framework last year, 40% TV-viewers selected channels individually and paid for each, 37% bought a bundle pack and 23% opted for free-to-air channels with few additions. The ones who bought a bundle pack were more likely to say they paid more than they used to earlier as compared to the ones who selected channels individually or kept all free channels- who instead were more likely to say they paid lesser than before (29% and 30%, respectively). If the new TRAI rule comes into force, most people (38%) are still likely to individually select channels. The proportion of people wanting to buy a bundle pack as well as keep free channels is similar, at 31% each, suggesting that people are equally receptive to each of the offerings. Commenting on this, Deepa Bhatia, General Manager, YouGov India said, “YouGov’s survey last year rightly predicted the likely impact of the new regulation on consumer viewership. The latest findings validate this prediction. The new order is likely to disrupt the business further and hence it is even more important for advertisers to study the changing consumer needs and behaviour and reallocate their media budgets accordingly.” Data collected online by YouGov Omnibus among around 1000 respondents in India between February 17th -24th, 2020 using YouGov’s panel of over 8 million people worldwide. Data is representative of the adult online population in the country.
