 The Indian financial markets reacted after <keyword id="6354416" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Army">Indian Army</keyword> said it conducted surgical strikes on Pakistan terror hubs. The <keyword id="6484188" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sensex">Sensex</keyword> tanked beyond 500 points. 
 
Sensex lost over 500 points and ICICI Bank, Adani Ports,<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=+Axis+Bank&amp;sortorder=effectivedate"> Axis Bank</a>, Sun Pharma and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=GAIL&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">GAIL</a> are the top Sensex losers. India VIX spikes 17.09%. 
 
Nifty50 slipped below 8,700 level. 
 
Meanwhile, the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Director+General+of+Military+Operation&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Director General of Military Operation</a>, in a news conference, said the Indian army conducted the anti-terror operations on September 28 night to prevent infiltration. 
 The <keyword id="894959" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="DGMO">DGMO</keyword> said the surgical strikes were based on specific intelligence input of terror groups ready to infiltrate into India and carry out terror attacks. 
 
"Significant casualties have been caused in these strikes," DGMO <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Lt+General+Ranbir+Singh+&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Lt General Ranbir Singh </a>said adding, "The operation has now ended."

Markets tank over 500 points as India strikes Pakistan terror launchpads

The Indian Army said it carried out surgical strikes in Pakistan and destroyed seven terror hubs across the Line of Control (LOC), just two kilometres across the de-facto border. 
 
Pakistan defence minister Khawaja Asif said two Pakistan soldiers were killed and nine were injured. There was no casualty report from the Indian side. 
 
During a news briefing, Indian Army's Director General of Military Operations (DGMO), Lt General Ranbir Singh said the surgical strikes on the terror camps were based on “very specific and credible information that some terrorist units had positioned themselves to infiltrate". 
 
Here's what happened: 
 
- The surgical strikes were carried out just two kilometres across the LOC. 
 
- The Indian forces were paradropped and the operations went on for four hours between 12.30 am and 4.30 am.&#xa0; 
 
- DGMO&#xa0;Lt Gen Singh said he spoke with his Pakistani counterpart and shared the concerns with him.&#xa0;“We told him that we conducted surgical strikes last night,” said the DGMO. 
 
- Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said India should not take its peaceful intent as weakness and condemned the surgical strike. 
 
- The surgical strikes were carried out on September 28, but the Pakistani media has denied the same, saying India was fabricating the truth. 
 
- Pakistan’s s ISPR said, “Notion of surgical strike linked to alleged terrorists bases is illusion deliberately generated by India to create false effects. This was not a surgical strike, we are alert for any eventuality. Pakistan has made it clear that if there is a surgical strike on Pakistani soil, same will be strongly responded.” 
 
- India maintained despite Pakistan’s commitment not to allow its territory for terrorism, there was no action on it.&#xa0;“This is reflected in the terror attacks in Poonch and Uri on the 11th and the 18th September, respectively,” said Lt Gen Singh. 
 
- Meanwhile, the Indian government has called for an all-party meet. Dr Nirmal Singh, Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, said, “Pakistan was behaving like a terrorist state; befitting reply was needed. These strikes boosted the morale of our army.” 
 
- Following the news, the Indian financial markets tanked beyond 500 points. 
 
- Sensex lost over 500 points and ICICI Bank, Adani Ports, Axis Bank , Sun Pharma and GAIL are the top Sensex losers. India VIX spikes 17.09%.&#xa0;Nifty50 slipped below 8,700 level.

India carries out surgical strikes on terror launch pads in Pakistan. Here’s how it happened

Indian Home Minister <keyword id="6355121" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rajnath-Singh">Rajnath Singh</keyword> said all attempts are being made to secure the release of an Indian soldier, who by mistake crossed over to Pakistan. 
 
Singh said the government is working on it and will speed up efforts and has taken note of the reports. 
 
"All attempts are being made to secure his release," said Singh. 
 
He further said New Delhi will talk about the issue with Pakistan for his early release. 
 The <keyword id="6354416" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Army">Indian Army</keyword> that one soldier from 37 RR with weapon had inadvertently crossed over to the other side of the Line of Control (<keyword id="6355098" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="LoC">LoC</keyword>). Pakistan has been informed by the DGMO on the hotline. 
It has been confirmed that his crossing over was nowhere related to the surgical strikes. 
 "Such inadvertent crossing by <keyword id="15350" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Army">Army</keyword> and civilians are not unusual on either side. They are returned through existing mechanisms," they had said. 
 
The Indian Army said that Pakistani media’s reports that eight Indian soldiers were killed and one captured by Pakistani military in retaliatory fire were all false. 
 
Indian Army sources said, "As regard (to the) report of killing of eight Indian Army personnel reported in sections of Pakistan media, the report is completely false and baseless." 
 The claim of eight Indian soldiers being killed and one captured while retaliating to India's firing at the first line of defense at the Line of Control (LoC) at <keyword id="3702585" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="tatta-pani">Tatta Pani</keyword> was done by Pakistan's Dawn News. 
India had carried out surgical strikes on eight terror launch pads across the LoC with the Army inflicting "significant casualties" on terrorists preparing to infiltrate from PoK.

Indian Govt assures release of Indian soldier who crossed the LoC

 The surgical strike by the <keyword id="6354416" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Army">Indian Army</keyword> on Pakistan’s terror launch pads was monitored and approved by <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Prime+Minister+Narendra+Modi&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Prime Minister Narendra Modi</a>. India wanted to turn off the tap of infiltration at its root on <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Pakistan-Occupied+Kashmir&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir</a> (PoK) and not wait for <keyword id="36724" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Terrorists">terrorists</keyword> to cross the <keyword id="6355098" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="LoC">LoC</keyword>. 
 According to sources, the surgical strikes by the Indian <keyword id="15350" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Army">army</keyword> were on terrorists and whom Pakistan term as "non-state actors", and "not on the Pakistan state as such". Experts say Pakistan, on the other hand, should have co-operated and neutralized these terrorist on almost half-a-dozen launch pads inside the PoK side of the Line of Control (LoC). 
 
Government felt that it was imperative that the root of this infiltration, the launch pads across the LoC be destroyed, as Pakistan has so far not co-operated to act against them regardless of many inputs provided by India on various occasions.&#xa0; 
 "As the Prime Minister had said earlier this week, 17 such attempts had been foiled by our sec<keyword id="71431" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Uri">uri</keyword>ty forces in the recent past but the terrorists managed to come in and attack Uri. Hence, armed with specific intelligence on the location of these launch pads, a call was taken by India to attack the centers of these terrorists. We have inflicted heavy casualties. Any Pakistani Army casualties could be due to their effort on protecting these launch pads...Pakistan should answer why its Army men were there," a senior government source told ET. 
 
The example of US forces neutralizing the known terrorist <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Osama+Bin+Laden+&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Osama Bin Laden </a>in Abbottabad with having Pakistan involved is also being cited by many. 
 
“Our strike was in PoK across the LoC - PoK is considered by us as an integral part of India and even in International parlance, it is a disputed territory between India and Pakistan. Like the US in the Osama case, India also informed Pakistan of the surgical strike once the same was over - the government hence went public with the same in India too,” the source further said. 
 Pakistan, though has denied the <keyword id="3701659" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="surgical-attacks">surgical attacks</keyword> as the country doesn’t want to admit having terrorist camps on its side. Retaliation is still expected from Pakistan. DGMO Lt Gen Ranbir Singh has already said that the terrorists killed by Indian Army had plans to attack Indian cities, states and metros will be cautioned towards the possibility of such attacks by terror modules ahead of the festive season.
