<keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword>, the online marketplace headquartered in New Delhi, has tied up with state-run <keyword id="1877338" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Energy-Efficiency-Services-Ltd">Energy Efficiency Services Ltd</keyword> (<keyword id="6354918" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="EESL">EESL</keyword>) to sell LED bulbs at Rs 99 per unit. This is a part of EESL implementing the Centre's <keyword id="2835385" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Domestic-Efficient-Lighting-Programme">Domestic Efficient Lighting Programme</keyword> (<keyword id="2677500" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="DELP">DELP</keyword>). 
 
"Under the campaign, Snapdeal will be selling LED bulbs at Rs 99 and enable the Ministry of Power to increase distribution of LED bulbs through its online marketplace to its customers spread across over 5,000 towns and cities of India," said the statement issued by Snapdeal. 
 
This partnership would enable the government to increase its distribution reach for LED bulbs, so that the cause of the DELP programme to promote efficient lighting can be strengthened and awareness on using LED to reduce electricity bill can be enhanced, thereby increasing the efficiency in domestic energy consumption. 
 
"Snapdeal is proud to be chosen as a partner by the Power Ministry to support its DELP programme. With our unmatched reach in metros as well as tier 2 and beyond, and our huge customer base, we will be able to support the Government achieve its target of replacing incandescent bulbs with LEDs," said Rahul Taneja, Vice President, Category Management, Snapdeal. 
 
Saurabh Kumar, MD, EESL said, "Our goal is to reach out to as many people to realise the goal of an energy efficient India. Our partnership with Snapdeal is an attempt in this direction." 
 
"In today's time, e-commerce is a platform for maximising reach and I am hopeful that this partnership will make the programme more accessible to the people and drive it across the country," Kumar added. 
 
As per DELP, the government aims at replacing all the 77 crore incandescent bulbs sold in India with LED bulbs, which would result in the reduction of 20,000 MW load, and save energy of 105 billion KWh and Green House Gas (GHG) emissions while savings 80 million tonnes every year. This would save Rs 40,000 crore in electricity bills, considering an average tariff of Rs 4 per kWh.

She's tried countless fad diets and Weight Watchers, worked with a nutritionist, and took phentermine pills. None of it was much help.Then Delp's doctor prescribed <a href="https://www.insider.com/tirzepatide-weight-loss-medication-what-to-know-2022-8">Mounjaro, a new diabetes medication</a> that can help people lose <a href="https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2206038" target="_blank" rel="noopener">15% to 20%</a> of their weight. Insurance wouldn't cover it, but a coupon from the drug's manufacturer, Eli Lilly, allowed her to get it for just $25.<div type="image" title="Headshot of Vicki Delp" height="2397" width="1757" msid="98805454" hostid="261"></div>On Mounjaro, Delp lost weight and her blood pressure dropped."It's more than weight loss," she said. "I feel better about myself. I think I've gotten more mental clarity. I really feel like I'm going to win this battle."But after a few months, <a href="https://www.statnews.com/2022/12/07/eli-lilly-tightens-access-tirzepatide-mounjaro-diabetes-obesity/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">she could no longer use the coupon</a>. Facing a bill of $1,000 a month and determined to keep taking the medication, Delp looked to the north.She found CanShipMeds.com, one of many websites that says it ships a similar drug, Ozempic, from Canada at a lower cost. Armed with a prescription, she ordered two injection pens for a little more than $300 each, enough for two months. They arrived to her doorstep on ice in a week.Demand for <a href="https://www.insider.com/new-weight-loss-drugs-popularity-evidence-and-side-effects-2022-11">injections that help with weight loss</a>, known as GLP-1 agonists, has surged in the past year, turning Ozempic into a household name. Its use in Hollywood has been mocked on "Saturday Night Live" and served as a punch line at the Oscars. Celebrities and influencers have touted the shots; ads for startups prescribing the drugs have <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/semaglutide-weight-loss-videos-flood-tiktok-instagram-discuss-ozempic-wegovy-2023-2">flooded social media</a>.Delp is hardly the only American searching for weight-loss drugs across the border in Canada or Mexico. Americans have long ventured to our neighbors for low-cost prescriptions and more affordable medical procedures. But the practice is now becoming a popular way to get weight-loss drugs, as social-media sites like Reddit and TikTok are flooded with advice on how to buy them abroad.The drugs are effective and could potentially help a huge swath of the US population. About 70% of Americans are overweight or obese. But the drugs are expensive and many health plans don't cover them.<div type="image" title="Headshot of Dr. Dan Azagury, medical director of Stanford’s Lifestyle and Weight Management Center" height="1936" width="1406" msid="98805455" hostid="261"></div>While buying medicines outside of the US to bring home can be risky, people's willingness to do so underscores the failure of the US healthcare system to ensure Americans can afford effective treatments as they become available. In many cases, only wealthy people will be able to get their hands on obesity treatments, even though the disease disproportionately affects <a href="https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/66/wr/mm6650a1.htm" target="_blank" rel="noopener">people with lower incomes</a>."It's flabbergasting that there's still such stigma around treating obesity that it's OK to have patients jump through hoops to get a treatment for a condition that they have," said Dr. Dan Azagury, the medical director of Stanford Lifestyle and Weight Management Clinic. He said a growing number of his patients are taking their prescriptions to pharmacies outside the US when their insurers won't pay."I'm not surprised that people get creative to get around the prohibitive costs if insurance won't cover any portion of it," he said.<h2>Trendy new weight-loss drugs are unaffordable</h2>At the root of the problem is that <a href="https://www.insider.com/weight-loss-drug-semaglutide-helping-dispel-harmful-stereotypes-patients-say-2022-12">obesity has long been viewed as a personal failing</a>, not a medical diagnosis. The American Medical Association <a href="https://policysearch.ama-assn.org/policyfinder/detail/obesity?uri=%2FAMADoc%2FHOD.xml-0-3858.xml" target="_blank" rel="noopener">only recognized it as a disease in 2013</a>.<div type="image" title="Headshot of Dr. Angela Fitch, the associate director of the Massachusetts General Hospital Weight Center and the president of the Obesity Medicine Association." height="1496" width="1994" msid="98805456" hostid="261"></div>Even today, health insurers often categorize weight-loss medications as a cosmetic treatment, and by one estimate, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/employers-grappling-cost-coverage-ozempic-wegovy-weight-loss-drugs-2023-2">only about a fifth of employers cover the new weight-loss drugs.</a> Medicare, the federal program that provides health coverage for people 65 and older, doesn't cover weight-loss drugs at all, though there's a push to change that. Medicaid programs cover them in fewer than 20 states.Dr. Angela Fitch, the president of the Obesity Medicine Association, said that because obesity is a disease, treatments should be covered just like they are for diabetes or cancer. Fitch is also the chief medical officer of the startup <a href="https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20230119005002/en/knownwell-Launches-with-Funding-Led-by-Flare-Capital-Partners-to-Change-the-Shape-of-Healthcare" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Knownwell</a>, which offers primary-care and metabolic-health services."It should be something that everybody has access to, not just the lucky few who have an employer that decides to add it to coverage," she said.<h2>People are looking to Canada and Mexico for cheaper Ozempic</h2><div type="image" title="Health Weightloss Scale" height="1667" width="2500" msid="98805458" hostid="261"></div>Until insurance coverage improves, people will look abroad to afford the weight-loss drugs. According to a spokesperson for British Columbia's Ministry of Health, 9% of the 30,000 prescriptions for semaglutide, the drug sold as Ozempic, filled across the province each month of 2022 were for US citizens. That's 22 times higher than the percentage of prescriptions filled for US citizens for all drugs, the spokesperson said. Insider was unable to find data that covers all of Canada.After this story was published, the BC Ministry of Health on March 28 <a href="https://news.gov.bc.ca/releases/2023HLTH0031-000398" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">said it plans</a> to limit the sale of Ozempic to non-Canadians in areas where there are potential drug shortages. The move follows a surge in Ozempic being dispensed to Americans, it said. In January and February, 15% of the 15,798 prescriptions for Ozempic in BC were filled for US residents.<div type="image" title="Headshot of Gina, an Ozempic user" height="549" width="361" msid="98805460" hostid="261"></div>Crossing the border into Mexico is another strategy.Gina has taken both routes. The California resident, who works at a tech company, told Insider she's been overweight most of her life. She was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome with insulin resistance that causes her to feel hungry all the time. Insider is identifying her by her first name to protect her privacy.Gina's endocrinologist prescribed Ozempic to help her lose weight. Based on her health-plan documents, she figured insurance wouldn't cover the drug because she isn't diabetic. So she paid for one Ozempic pen in the US to try it out.She finally felt full after eating and knew she wanted to keep taking it, but the cost at home was "astronomical," she said.In September, Gina flew to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, bought five Ozempic pens from a Costco pharmacy for about $250 each — no prescription required — and brought them back home.She felt safe doing it. "The thing is I'm under a doctor's care. I know what my dosage is," she said.When she needed more, she ordered two pens for $285 each, plus a $40 shipping fee, from BuyCanadianInsulin.com, which she learned about through Reddit. Gina's lost 25 pounds so far.Ozempic pens can <a href="https://www.ozempic.com/how-to-take/ozempic-dosing.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">dispense different doses</a> of the medication, and one pen typically lasts about a month, depending on how much of the drug a person is taking.<h2>Some US telehealth companies are helping patients fill prescriptions abroad</h2>Reddit forums overflow with advice on how to get prescriptions for Ozempic filled abroad. Users on the site generally point to US telehealth companies like Push Health and Hello Alpha.Libby Baney, an attorney specializing in internet pharmacies at the law firm Faegre Drinker, said it's illegal for US companies to facilitate drug transactions outside of the US supply chain. Canadian pharmacists also aren't supposed to fill US prescriptions, but there are ways around the law, she said. Baney is a senior advisor to the Alliance for Safe Online Pharmacies, a group that lobbies against illegal online pharmacies.<div type="image" title="Photo of Amber Bahr" height="2006" width="2116" msid="98805462" hostid="261"></div>Amber Bahr, 42, from Appleton, Wisconsin, said a nurse practitioner at Hello Alpha helped her get a prescription for Ozempic filled at a Canadian pharmacy. She turned to Hello Alpha after her primary-care doctor refused to prescribe Mounjaro off-label to help her lose weight.Bahr, who is prediabetic and has several other health conditions, said she was initially hesitant to use a weight-loss drug because she didn't want to be seen as "taking the easy way out" and was worried about potential side effects. But Weight Watchers and working with a nutritionist hadn't helped, so she decided to try medication.Bahr said her company health plan wouldn't cover drugs that could help with weight loss. She found PolarBearMeds.com, which says it ships Ozempic from a licensed Canadian pharmacy for about $340 plus a $30 shipping fee. She pays $49 a month to see her clinician at Hello Alpha for the prescription.Though it costs less than she'd pay in the US, it's still expensive and doesn't go toward Bahr's deductible, or the amount she must pay before her insurance kicks in for other services. But she makes it work because she's lost 25 pounds in just a few months, she has fewer muscle aches, and her A1C level, a measure of her blood sugar, has improved.Hello Alpha said in an emailed statement that weight loss is one of more than 100 medical conditions its licensed providers treat. The company said it works with mail-order pharmacies in the US but patients can request prescriptions be sent to a pharmacy they choose. Push Health didn't respond to requests for comment.<h2>Buying drugs outside the US can be risky</h2>Going outside of the US for medicine or care can be risky. An extreme example came earlier this month, when four US citizens were kidnapped and two of them killed when <a href="https://www.insider.com/4-americans-kidnapped-in-mexico-buying-medicine-2023-3">visiting the Mexican city of Matamoros for a medical procedure</a>.Purchasing prescription drugs from unlicensed online pharmacies can be dangerous, too, Baney said. Websites that say they ship medicines from Canada may actually ship them from somewhere else. And there's a chance a person could end up with a fake product, with no recourse if they're harmed, she said."You have no way of actually knowing as an American patient if you're getting the real deal or if you're getting a counterfeit, because it's really easy to lie on the internet and it's super easy to counterfeit a drug," Baney said.Technically, importing drugs for personal use <a href="https://www.fda.gov/about-fda/fda-basics/it-legal-me-personally-import-drugs#:~:text=In%20most%20circumstances%2C%20it%20is,sale%20in%20the%20United%20States." target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">is illegal</a> in most cases, but the US Food and Drug Administration turns a blind eye to it.Some feel the risks are worth it.Delp of Indiana said she felt she did enough due diligence to choose a safe pharmacy and the chance she'll get a fake medication is slim. Both of her parents underwent bypass surgery, and she's hoping to avoid that fate. It's been a battle to manage her weight and the medication has made it much easier. Americans desperate for the hot weight-loss drug Ozempic are turning to Canada and Mexico because they can't afford it at home

So he immediately went to the store and he got every laxative he could find," Delp told Insider.At first, the laxatives didn't seem to work. But then, when Delp and her boyfriend were traveling through Yellowstone, with no bathroom in sight, she really had to go."We're in the middle of the woods with buffalo around us, with no options other than he carry me out in the middle of a field for me to do my business," Delp said. And that's exactly what he did.According to Delp, that experienced solidified her relationship with her boyfriend, a friend from childhood who saw her for more than her <keyword id="6371630" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="disability">disability</keyword>, but was also compassionate when she needed help.They've been together for three years now, Delp told Insider, but before then igniting romance was a difficult experienced riddled with awkward disclosures, rude comments, and bewildered dates.<h2>'Automatically, it's awkward'</h2>Delp used dating apps for about a year before getting together with her boyfriend.At first, she only put pictures of her face on her profile and didn't mention her wheelchair. But after one date looked like a "deer in headlights" when seeing Delp in her wheelchair for the first time, she decided to take a different approach."I'll never forget that feeling of being like, 'Oh my gosh, this is something that is actually a big deal to some people.' I know I took him off guard a little bit, but it was kind of demoralizing, and dehumanizing in a way just because I felt so different," Delp said. "After that I was like, 'OK, we're going to be completely upfront.'"Delp added a picture of herself in her wheelchair, plus a short story about why she used it, in her dating-app profile, but that didn't put an end to the awkward encounters.On first dates, "automatically it's awkward because usually they're picking me up [at my house] and have to break apart my wheelchair," Delp said. "So I'd be having to instruct them how to take off the wheels and how to put the wheelchair in their car. And then I get in their car, unless they had a truck, in which case they had to pick me up."<h2>Bathroom access is always a concern</h2>Once in the car, Delp's dates would typically take her to a restaurant, which posed another obstacle: bathroom access.If a date chose a restaurant that didn't have big enough bathrooms to accommodate Delp's wheelchair, she had to ask her date to help her get to the facilities, or skip them altogether.Since Delp also has incontinence due to her condition, and has peed herself while out on a date because she couldn't get to a bathroom in time.For that reason, she now comes prepared with an extra change of clothes.<h2>Answering rude questions about sex and being compared to other women </h2>In many cases, Delp would be other singles' first date with someone who used a wheelchair to get around. That meant Delp would often have to field inappropriate questions and comments.According to Delp, first dates and dating app matches have asked her if she's able to have sex (she can, for the record). Other times, men told her, "Wow, you're pretty for a girl who's in a wheelchair.""Honestly, I've had a lot of insecurity that crept in over the years, knowing that something completely out of my control affects the way that people see me, the way guys see me. Now I almost see it as a little blessing in disguise because it weeds out the bad ones in a way," Delp said.<h2>'I'd rather people just be upfront'</h2>But for Delp, the worst dates occurred when they saw her wheelchair, and went silent out of fear."You know when it's an issue because they clam up and they don't know what to say and they get awkward and they get silent. And then I'm the one trying to carry the conversation, knowing that the wheelchair is a problem the whole time," she said.In reflecting on her year of awkward and sometimes demeaning dates, Delp said wished more singles took a kind and curious approach to her condition."I think the hardest thing for me is when people just tiptoe around it and they act awkward. I'd rather people just be upfront and ask me, 'What can I do to make this easiest for you? Should I call first to ask if a restaurant is accessible? What it's like to date when you use a wheelchair

Still, it found that 43% of these Apollo deaths were due to cardiovascular problems. This rate is about four to five times higher than in other astronauts, and nearly double the 27% cardiovascular disease death rate of the general public.Because the study was based on such a small sample size, <a href="http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/d-brief/2016/07/28/did-traveling-to-the-moon-take-a-toll-on-astronauts-hearts/#.V5pOPpMrKi4">we should be cautious about drawing definitive medical conclusions from the data</a>, Michael Delp, lead author of the study, told Discover. Still, it's definitely something that scientists should think about, especially as they plan out future manned missions to Mars or the moon."We thought it was important to publish these results because it is also difficult to ignore the possibility that deep space travel ... may be having a much more adverse effect on cardiovascular health than previously estimated," Delp said.The scientists believe that these effects are because of high-energy radiation like cosmic rays and charged particles from solar flares. Here on Earth and on the ISS (which is in low Earth orbit), Earth's magnetic field deflects most of this radiation. But in deep space, these high-energy particles runs rampant. So, the astronauts on the moon were largely unprotected from it.These particles have so much energy that they <a href="http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/d-brief/2016/07/28/did-traveling-to-the-moon-take-a-toll-on-astronauts-hearts/#.V5pOPpMrKi4">strip electrons from atoms as they pass by</a>. This can damage the cells lining the walls of blood vessels, which are the same cells that prevent plaque from forming inside the walls of blood vessels. Plaque build-up can lead to blood clots, coronary heart disease, heart attacks, or strokes.Delp and his team <a href="http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2016-07/fsu-aae072516.php">exposed mice to similar radiation as what the Apollo astronauts were exposed to</a>. And, after six months (which is equal to about 20 human years for mice), they found that the radiation had negatively affected the vascular health of the mice. "We know very little about the effects of deep space radiation on human health, particularly on the cardiovascular system," Delp said. "[But] this gives us the first glimpse into its adverse effects on humans." Apollo astronauts are more likely to suffer heart problems, and we need to figure out why before we go back into deep space

Lorraine Delp, a model based in Philadelphia, filed a $500,000 lawsuit on Tuesday against an Uber driver, claiming he punched her in the face and punctured her neck with an earring during an incident that occurred in July, <a href="http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/local/Uber-Driver-Beat-Model-Dislocated-Her-Nose-Lawsuit-286619991.html">NBC Philadelphia reports</a>.
Delp claims she was sitting in traffic when the Uber driver in question, Djamal Khelife, approached her window and urged her to move her car, banging on the window and shouting profanities.&#xa0;
She says the driver spat on her window after she had mouthed the words "Do not touch my car."
Delp says she got out of her car and the Uber driver punched her in the face, which dislocated her nose.&#xa0;Khelife's blow also allegedly resulted in one of her earrings puncturing her neck. She also claimed to suffer from bruises and a scratch on her arm, and she says her shirt was ripped as well.
Court documents say "a pair of Good Samaritans came to Delp's aid" and pulled the driver off the woman. Police were called to the scene shortly thereafter.&#xa0;
Khalife was arrested on charges of simple and aggravated assault, as well as reckless endangerment. He was released on $6,000 bail the next day and wasn't arraigned until October. His trial is expected to begin Jan. 22, 2015.
Khelife's attorney Debra Rainey is calling Delp's claims into question, saying her injuries would have been worse had Khalif actually attacked her as she said he did. Rainey also says Khalife was off duty at the time.

Though the case occurred in July, it's just another incident to add to the litany of alleged Uber driver-related assaults over the past several months. Last Saturday, Nikki Williams, a singer-songwriter based in South Africa, said her Uber driver "<a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/uber-nikki-williams-2014-12">tried to grab and kiss on me in my own driveway</a>" and reported the incident to Uber, which in turn deactivated the driver.
The week prior, a <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/an-uber-driver-allegedly-raped-a-female-passenger-in-boston-2014-12">Boston-based Uber driver was arrested</a> for allegedly kidnapping and raping a passenger on Dec. 6. And the week before that, an <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/travis-kalanick-uber-india-statement-2014-12">Uber driver in India allegedly raped a female passenger</a>.
In response to this string of alleged incidents, <a href="http://blog.uber.com/safety">Uber outlined several steps it is considering</a> to increase the safety of its global operations, including research into biometrics and voice verification to improve its screenings of drivers.

 A deepfake is basically a way to create videos that look real, but aren't. Multiple images of one face are superimposed onto the source video or image using machine learning (ML). The process is called 'generative adversarial network'. So far, the implementation of deepfakes has largely restricted itself to creating <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/scarlett-johansson-says-trying-to-stop-people-making-deepfake-porn-videos-of-her-is-a-lost-cause/articleshow/67323611.cms">revenge porn</a> or <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/Face-swapping-videos-could-lead-to-more-fake-news/articleshow/63754234.cms">funny videos</a> featuring politicians. Normally developers need a lot of images on hand and a lot of time to produce deepfake videos. Samsung's AI team along with the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology in Moscow can do it will just one image – even if its <keyword id="77977" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Einstein">Einstein</keyword> or the Mona Lisa.

 Egor Zakhrov, the<a href="https://arxiv.org/abs/1905.08233"> lead author</a> of the research, clarifies, "Our system can learn from different number of frames. One-shot learning from a single frame is possible. Of course, increasing the number of frames (images) leads to head models (deepfakes) of higher realism and better identity preservation." What's the secret? The reason this new algorithm its able to create deepfakes with just one picture is because it can integrate 'new view angles'. So even if a particular angle of the face isn't within the images or frames that feed into the algorithm, it will still be able to discern what it should look like.

 The way that the algorithm trains itself is by tracking a series of landmark facial features – eyes, nose, lips etc. – and then manipulating them to get the desired result using the neural network. So, when there's one picture, the algorithm's 'neural network' turns landmark facial features into realistic looking moving video. And, because the algorithm applies itself this way, it reduces the ability of people being able to spot if a video is genuine or a deepfake. Easier and yet more difficult It's obvious that the new method simplifies the making of a deep fake. But in a world that already battling the growing threat of deepfakes being used as weapons of misinformation and fake news – it's difficult to see how deepfakes can be a force for good. Edward Delp, the director of the Video and Imaging Processing Lab at Purdue University remarks, "It's possible that people are going to use fake videos to make fake news and insert these into a political election." He adds, "There's been some evidence of that in other elections throughout the world already." The team of researchers, on the other hand, see the technology being applied to video conferencing, multi-player games, and the special effects industry. For movie stars, with hundreds of photographs and video clips already out there in the world, it could mean immortality. Alternatively, in countries where people tend to walk the same amount of steps - leading to a small activity inequality gap - obesity levels were found to be low."If you think about some people in a country as 'activity rich' and others as 'activity poor,' the size of the gap between them is a strong indicator of obesity levels in that society," Scott Delp, a lead researcher on the study and bioengineer, said in The <a href="http://news.stanford.edu/2017/07/10/stanford-researchers-find-intriguing-clues-obesity-counting-steps-via-smartphones/">Stanford News</a>.Researchers tracked the steps of 717,000 women and men from 111 countries for roughly 95 days each with the <a href="http://www.azumio.com/s/argus/index.html">ARGUS smartphone app</a>. Data was anonymous, aside from key health indicators like height, weight, age and gender.According to Stanford News, the study also revealed new information about gender in relation to obesity trends. Researchers found men walk on average more than women, meaning that "when activity inequality is greatest, women's activity is reduced much more dramatically than men's activity, and thus the negative connections to obesity can affect women more greatly," Jure Leskovec, a lead researcher on the study and computer scientist, told The Stanford News. 'Activity inequality' could be one of the biggest factors in obesity

Wendy Davis' (D) four-month-old Texas gubernatorial campaign has been taking a beating lately. The newest <a href="http://www.texasobserver.org/wendy-davis-keystone-cops-routine-press/" target="_blank">slam is from Texas Monthly</a>, generally viewed as a left-leaning publication, whose Dave Mann on Friday provided a takedown of the campaign's media operation.
Mann called Davis' press team the "worst" he's ever seen, and wrote that it's hurting her campaign:
[...] I have covered many political campaigns in Texas the past decade, so I know what it looks like when a campaign handles the press well.
And the Wendy Davis operation is about the worst at media relations that I've ever seen. Her team's mismanagement of the press is damaging her candidacy.
Mann went on to detail numerous examples from the campaign trail. He wrote that her campaign's handling started to become a problem in November, when Davis was very late to a campaign event. One of her staffers, though, introduced her, prompting a smattering of applause for a candidate who hadn't yet arrived. It also prompted an <a href="http://www.themonitor.com/opinion/columnists/sandra_sanchez/article_488636f8-480c-11e3-8d92-001a4bcf6878.html" target="_blank">opinion column in The Monitor entitled</a>, "Wendy Davis is not ready for prime time."
Mann's piece comes as the Davis campaign is struggling to combat <a href="http://www.dallasnews.com/news/politics/headlines/20140118-as-wendy-davis-touts-life-story-in-race-for-governor-key-facts-blurred.ece?nclick_check=1" target="_blank">questions about her biography</a>, which Mann said has been another poor moment in media relations. The campaign advertised a major speech to "set the record straight," but only allowed one outlet to cover the event.

In a statement, the Davis campaign dismissed its apparent media troubles, noting that the campaign still has a while to go.
"We're going to continue to focus on the priorities of Texas families: improving our schools, creating jobs, and taking care of our veterans when they come home from fighting overseas," Bo Delp, the campaign's communications director, told Business Insider.
" Wendy Davis will be the next Governor of Texas, and this is going to be a long, hard-fought campaign - sometimes the media will like us, and sometimes they won't."
