This gave it a valuation of $9.2 billion - higher than expected, but just shy of the $10 billion it was worth at its last funding round in 2014.</p><p>The IPO will be yet another gauge of the ability of unicorns - tech startups valued at $1 billion or more - to thrive on the public market. The most recent and prominent example of such an IPO was <a href="http://markets.businessinsider.com/stocks/snap-stock">Snap</a>, which went public last March. The stock popped on the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/snap-snapchat-ipo-2017-3">first trading day</a>, but has since fallen by about 28% amid <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/r-snap-shares-fall-below-17-ipo-price-for-first-time-2017-7">concerns about competition</a> and its high valuation. </p><p>Uber, the most valuable private tech company, is not expected to go public until next year. </p><p>The regulatory <a href="https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1467623/000119312518055809/d451946ds1.htm">filing</a> Dropbox submitted for its IPO showed the company had more than 11 million paying users. It earned $1.106 billion in revenue last year, up 32% from the prior year. Its net loss, however, was nearly halved to $111.7 million. It stopped bleeding cash in 2015 and maintained a positive free-cash flow over the following two years.</p><p>Like Snap, Dropbox warned potential investors that it may never be profitable.</p><p>Dropbox also warned that data and security breaches could hurt its ability to keep customers or attract new ones. The company was hacked in 2012, and over 68 million users' emails and passwords were leaked on the internet four years later. </p><p><span>Dropbox will have a </span><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/dropbox-other-tech-startups-are-adopting-dual-class-stock-structures-2018-2">dual-class stock structure that gives outsized power to some insiders</a><span>. The company lost $111.7 million in 2017 on revenues of $1.1 billion, and warned potential investors it may never be profitable.</p><p>"We have a history of net losses, we anticipate increasing expenses in the future, and we may not be able to achieve or maintain profitability," the company said in the risks section of its<a href="https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1467623/000119312518055809/d451946ds1.htm"> S-1 filing</a>, which is required of any and all companies filing for an initial public offering in the United States.</p><p>"It is difficult to predict the size and growth rate of our market, user demand for our platform, user adoption and renewal of our platform, the entry of competitive products and services, or the success of existing competitive products and services," the filing said. Aston's current lineup is comprised exclusively of thirsty V8 and V12-engined cars.</p><p>2) Aston believes there's room in the market for an ultra-luxury electric vehicle that operates in a segment above the top-of-the-line Tesla Model S.</p><p>The electric Rapide is expected to pack 800 horsepower with all-wheel-drive, and a range of 200 miles on a single charge. With 800hp on tap, the electric Aston could put up performance numbers on par with Tesla's 762 horsepower P90D.</p><p>Still, the Aston has some drawbacks compared with Tesla's Model S. Its expected 200 mile range lags behind the 300 miles Tesla is able to achieve, and the electric Rapide sedan is expected to set buyers back between $200,000 and $250,000. Tesla recently introduced Ludicrous Mode -which allows the Model S P90D to hit 60 mph in a hypercar-shaming 2.8 seconds- to great fanfare.  However, Palmer is not impressed. </p><p>The Aston Martin boss told Undercoffler that his company won't "<span>do Ludicrous because Ludicrous speed is stupid." Instead of pure straight-line speed, Palmer claims the electric Astons will aim deliver a complete driving experience with track capable speed and handling. </span></p><p>Aston Martin has not released any specific technical details regarding the Rapide's electric drivetrain. Fisker is perhaps the best-known, although the company fell into bankruptcy a few years ago, ending any real competition between the company's hybrid-electric car and Tesla's Model S.</span></p><p>The Aston Martin Rapide made its world debut in 2010 and received a slight facelift in 2013. The non-electric Rapide S is powered by a 550-horsepower, 6.0-liter V12 engine that can achieve 60 mph in just 4.7 seconds. But it doesn't go easy on the gas, getting only 13 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway. </p><p>Several automakers have launched high-performance luxury electric cars since Tesla burst onto the scene (none have achieved the success of the Model S). Audi introduced an all-electric version of its R8 supercar, called the R8 e-tron, in Geneva this year. And a couple of years ago, Mercedes-Benz rolled out a pure electric variant of the SLS. <p>When visiting&#xa0;Facebook recently, you may have noticed a friendly greeting that wasn't there before.</p><p>Sitting at the top of some Facebook users' news feeds recently is a polite message. Facebook is showing some of its users a strangely polite new message

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"><img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/5637b3939dd7cc11008c69a1-2667-2000/458403806.jpg" alt="Dropbox CEO Drew Houston at the 2014 Web Summit " data-mce-source="Tristan Fewings/Getty Images" /><p class="source"><span>Tristan Fewings/Getty Images</span></p><p class="caption">Dropbox CEO Drew Houston</p></div><p></p></div></div>Dropbox has been hammered by the press and critics questioning the health of its business, which was last valued at $10 billion.</p><p>But Dropbox will get a chance to prove them wrong this Wednesday with its first ever user-conference called <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/open">Dropbox Open</a>. </p><p>Dropbox Open is a one-day, invite-only event that will have a bunch of business customers, analysts, and press members mingle at the same place, much like the way Salesforce's Dreamforce or Box's BoxWorks is organized. </p><p>It also features some high-profile keynote speakers including Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff, HP <keyword id="6356323" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Enterprise">Enterprise</keyword> CEO Meg Whitman, and Apple SVP Eddie Cue, among others.</p><p>But perhaps the biggest significance of Dropbox Open is that that Dropbox now has enough business customers to host a customer event, something almost every big enterprise software company does once they reach a certain scale.</p><p>Dropbox describes the event as, "an invite-only event celebrating our business customers and the future of work."</p><p>Dropbox launched Dropbox for Business, an enterprise version of its product targeting business customers, about two years ago, and has touted it as its next big growth engine. With the cost of file storage in decline, Dropbox needs its business product to drive more sales, but recent reports suggested that <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/the-clock-is-ticking-for-dropbox-2015-4">it's struggling to gain much traction</a>.</p><p>Dropbox will probably use the event as a chance to reveal new product features and updates to its overall business. Dropbox CEO Drew Houston will kick off the event with a special keynote that it describes as having "special guests" as well.</p><p>Dropbox used to have its own developer's conference called DBX, but it shuttered for unknown reasons after 2014. Cancelling a developer's conference is often a sign that the company's having cash problems, but Dropbox seems to be countering those claims with its own user conference, which is another high-cost marketing event.</p><p>Since its founding in 2007, Dropbox has become one of the most popular cloud file sharing services, raising more than $1.1 billion in funding. Dropbox is holding a big event this week to prove critics wrong about its $10 billion business

Newey designed cars have won 10 F1 constructors world championships since 1992 including four in a row at Red Bull between 2010 and 2013.</p><p>Aston Martin is in the middle of a major revamp of its product lineup. This announcement comes just weeks after the company unveiled the new DB11 road car - a successor to the venerable DB9. Aston Martin is about to build the fastest car in the world

The priciest Model S version, the P85D, will set you back around $120,000.</p><p>Tesla challengers have come along. Fisker is perhaps the best-known, although the company fell into bankruptcy a few years ago, ending any real competition between the company's hybrid-electric car and Tesla's Model S.</p><p>Now Aston is taking things to a whole new level.</p><p>But this isn't the company's first foray into stylish electric <keyword id="34991" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="transportation">transportation</keyword>.</p><p>Earlier this year, at the Geneva Motor Show, the British automaker unveiled an all-electric crossover coupe called the DBX. </p><p>According to Palmer, Aston's entrance into the electric car market was prompted by the need for the company to meet increasingly stringent fuel economy standards. But the brand didn't want to employ the small-displacement turbo engines that many of its competitors have turned to. </p><p>Currently, Aston Martin's lineup of sedans, coupes, and convertibles gets its power from a series of naturally aspirated V8 and V12 engines. </p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/54f78e22eab8ea86450297b4-1200-800/_dsf0440.jpg" border="0" alt="Aston Martin DBX"><p class="source"><span>Newspress</span></p></img></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>The Aston Martin Rapide made its world debut in 2010 and received a slight facelift in 2013. The non-electric Rapide S is powered by a 550-horsepower, 6.0-liter V12 engine that can achieve 60 mph in just 4.7 seconds. But it doesn't go easy on the gas, getting only 13 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway. </p><p>Several automakers have launched high-performance electric cars since Tesla burst onto the scene (none have achieved the success of the Model S). Audi introduced an all-electric version of its R8 supercar, called the R8 e-tron, in Geneva this year. Watch out Tesla! Aston Martin is building a 1,000-horsepower electric sedan

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right click-to-enlarge"><div><div class="image on-image"><a title_source="Jaguar Land Rover" title_caption="Jaguar F-PACE during cold weather testing." class="zoomin" href="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image-960/55dc9420bd86ef1a008b5bee-3694-2770"><span class="sprites click-to-enlarge-icon" title="Click to enlarge"></span><img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/55dc9420bd86ef1a008b5bee-3694-2770" alt="Jaguar F Pace" data-mce-source="Jaguar Land Rover" /></a><p class="source"><span>Jaguar Land Rover</span></p><p class="caption">Jaguar F-PACE during cold weather testing.</p></div><p></p></div></div>Tesla has been making waves in the automotive world for a few years now.</p><p>But as the electric automaker expands its scale, sales, and brand reputation, the company's mainstream counterparts are beginning to take notice.</p><p>Recently, both Audi and Aston Martin have announced their intentions to produce electric vehicles to rival Tesla. </p><p>Now, it looks like Jaguar could be putting its hat in the ring as well.</p><p>According to <a href="http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/2016-jaguar-f-pace-spawn-suv-family" target="_blank">Autocar's Tom Webster</a>, Jaguar recently applied to trademark the name "EV-Type."</p><p>Webster believes the EV-Type could be an electric variant of Jaguar's upcoming F-PACE SUV. </p><p>Jaguar Land Rover declined to comment on the matter when Business Insider reached out to the company. </p><p>However, Jaguar design director Ian Callum told Business Insider in an interview at the New York Auto Show earlier this year that the company is actively engaged in the development of hybrid and electric drivetrain technology. </p><p>"I'll be honest with you. We are working on (electric and hybrid technology) quite thoroughly," Callum said. "We have to be because at some point we are going to have to have zero emissions vehicles in the fleet. We've got no choice."</p><p>"The big challenge for the future is emissions. The electric car, hybrid cars, and the plug-in hybrid. They are all inevitable," Callum added. </p><p>Power for Jaguar's current US lineup is dominated by a duo of supercharged V6 and V8 engines. It could very well make a compelling and stylish alternative to Tesla's highly anticipated Model X crossover. </p><p>However, there's no information available on the performance capabilities of the rumored EV-Type. As a result, it is difficult to say whether Jaguar can match Tesla's claimed 300 mile electric range and sub-4-second 0-60 mph acceleration time. </p><p>The F-PACE is Jaguar's first SUV and is based on the C-X17 concept that debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2013. With an available 90 kWh battery pack, the Model X is expected to have a range of around 300 miles.
