"I parked on an incline, exited the truck and as I was closing the door I manage to clip the very corner of the door against my leg."</p><p>The user said the corner of the door isn't that sharp, but he closed the door with force and it hit his leg and caused damage. The post included a photo of the bloody cut and the corner of the door that hit his leg.</p><p>"When I got home the wife said I needed to go get stitches, so I did," the poster said.</p><p>The owner said he still loves the Cybertruck and blamed his own clumsiness for the incident. Business Insider reached out to the Cybertruck owner for more information on the incident but did not hear back ahead of publication. Tesla did not respond when contacted for comment.</p><p><a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/tesla">Tesla</a> has a warning about closing the door in its owner's manual that says to "use caution around the panel edges on Cybertruck, including the doors, powered frunk, tailgate, and surrounding panels."</p><p>The warning also advises owners to always grasp the door at the top when pulling it open, and to keep hands and fingers away from the opening edge.</p><p>The manual states "neglecting to follow the correct opening procedure for front and rear doors can lead to injury."</p><p>Another commenter responding on the forum said he had also cut himself accidentally.</p><p>"This beast has some sharp angles I cut my finger while washing the car," the person said. "Of course nothing as bad as you but still drew blood. <ul class="summary-list"><li>Another <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/tesla">Tesla</a> owner reported an injury from the Cybertruck's sharp edges.</li><li>The owner said he ended up in the hospital after accidentally slicing his wrist during delivery.</li></ul><p>A <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/tesla-truck-cybertruck">Cybertruck</a> delivery ended up a bit bloody, a Tesla owner wrote in a forum post.</p><p>While there's been past coverage of Cybertruck-related injuries from people testing out the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/youtuber-cybertrunk-finger-test-frunk-sensor-2024-5">frunk's sensor on their fingers</a> (don't do that), or the guy who needed stitches after <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/cybertruck-owner-says-door-edge-cut-leg-stitches-2024-5">clipping his leg on the door's edge</a> when exiting, this Cybertruck owner wrote that they accidentally sliced their wrist while inspecting their brand-new vehicle upon arrival.</p><p>The Tesla owner <a target="_blank" href="https://www.cybertruckownersclub.com/forum/threads/delivered-but-wrist-cut-injury-during-delivery-er-visit.17610/">posted</a> on the Cybertruck Owner's Club that he had been anxiously awaiting the arrival of his vehicle. But when it finally arrived, the Cybertruck was in "sloppy, sloppy condition at delivery," with a "disastrously dirty" windshield with a smeary film over it, and a hood covered in rust spots, he wrote.</p><p>The owner said that he noted several issues with the vehicle: an overspray on the body panels that he couldn't easily wipe off, a loose rubber seal along the tonneau cover, and a large upper panel on the driver's side in the bed that flew off while driving on a main road. He posted photos of some of the issues.</p><p>But they weren't enough to deter the Tesla owner from enjoying his new ride.</p><p>"Otherwise, it's great," he wrote on the forum. "Heck, it's great even with these issues. The tires and wheel look GREAT in person."</p><p>But things took a turn when the owner walked around to inspect the truck and noticed a small pit or divot on the tailgate, he wrote. When he tried to rub the spot with his thumb to see if it was a divot or stray adhesive, he ended up slicing his wrist, the owner said.</p><p>"I jerked my arm back and the employees chuckled jokingly saying this thing can be dangerous," he wrote on the forum. "I, too, thought it was a little slice like a paper cut…Until the blood started pouring."<br /><br />The owner said there was "a lot of blood," and uploaded a graphic image of injury. We'll spare you the details — but it's safe to say he wasn't exaggerating: the cut looks pretty deep.</p><p>He said the two employees scrambled to find something to stop the bleeding, and he was eventually able to apply a bandage. He still managed to wash off his wrist, wrap it up, and complete delivery, the owner wrote.</p><p>Several hours later, he said that he assumed the gash had closed up and he could take off the bandage. <br /><br />"I unwrapped my wrist and BOOM - spurts of blood all over the kitchen island…" the owner wrote on the forum. "Which leaves me here, at the ER."</p><p>The owner also posted a photo of a hospital waiting room. He did not return a request for comment ahead of publication.</p><p>The incident is one of the latest reported injuries tied to the sharp edges of the Cybertruck's angular stainless steel design. Some, however, have been seemingly playing with fire. <ul class="summary-list"><li>New videos of the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/tesla-truck-cybertruck">Tesla Cybertruck</a> feature a show-stopping interior with a full glass roof.</li><li>Videos of the electric truck's power frunk have quelled some early critics.</li></ul><p>With about a week left until Tesla <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/tesla-cybertruck-delivery-event-details-10-vehicles-2023-11">finally delivers the first 10 Cybertrucks</a>, peeks inside the futuristic electric truck are popping up more online.</p><p>Several TikTok videos have surfaced over the past few days giving snippets of the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/teslas-top-designer-spotted-in-matte-black-cybertruck-2023-11">interior of the Cybertruck</a>, which appear to feature a massive glass roof.</p><p>Prior to these posts, all we have seen of <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/tesla-cybertruck-photos-ignite-buzz-show-interior-exterior-features-2023-8">the inside of the Cybertruck</a> is a picture of the dashboard and infotainment screen, which left some fans of the truck feeling disappointed.</p><p>The <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/tesla">Tesla</a> Cybertruck was first revealed to much fanfare in 2019, and its release has been pushed back several times since then. Production on the truck finally started at the Texas Gigafactory earlier this year, and Tesla set the date for the release party on November 30.</p><p>At this event, the first 10 trucks will be delivered to their owners. Before that, order-holders are relying on a series of <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/tesla-cybertruck-photos-ignite-buzz-show-interior-exterior-features-2023-8">sightings in the wild</a> to piece together <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/tesla-cybertruck-specs-price-unknown-delivery-event-2023-9">exactly what they are buying</a>.</p><h2>What's inside the Cybertruck?</h2><p>From what we've seen <a target="_blank" href="https://www.cybertruckownersclub.com/forum/threads/leaked-interior-cybertruck-photo.8485/">of the dashboard so far</a>, much of the interior of the Cybertruck is surprisingly barebones. Those prices vanished from the Cybertruck website in 2021, and an official price has still been difficult to pin down.</p><p>But it's likely based on what Musk has said publicly about the complexity of the truck, and what's been shown in government documents, that the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/tesla-truck-cybertruck-cost-expensive-2023-10">Cybertruck won't be cheap</a>.</p><p>Car and Driver decoded a <a target="_blank" href="https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a45618064/2024-tesla-cybertruck-motor-weight-details/"><u>NHTSA document</u></a> last month that indicated only dual-motor and tri-motor options will be available on the Cybertruck this year, which would carry a higher starting price than the single-motor, rear-wheel drive specification. <a target="_blank" href="https://www.caranddriver.com/tesla/cybertruck"><u>Car and Driver's estimates</u></a> on starting price are $70,000 for the dual-motor option, and $80,000 for the tri-motor.</p>

<ul class="summary-list"><li>A Vietnamese man built a fully functional replica of Tesla's Cybertruck out of wood.   </li><li>Truong Van Dao's been driving his family around in the car, which is being sent to Elon Musk. </li></ul><p>The long-awaited Tesla <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/man-built-wooden-tesla-cybertruck-elon-musk-2023-11">Cybertruck</a> is finally due to arrive in just a few days.</p><p>But in Bac Ninh, a small town in the north of Vietnam, one man has already been driving his family around in a fully-functional <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/man-built-wooden-tesla-cybertruck-elon-musk-2023-11">wooden replica</a> of the new Tesla vehicle.</p><p>Truong Van Dao is a woodworker and car enthusiast who created an entire collection of functional wooden vehicles in addition to the Cybertruck, including a tank, a Bugatti replica, and a child-sized Mercedes AVTR.</p><p>As an admirer of Elon Musk, he needed little encouragement from his followers to take on the Cybertruck project.</p><p>Timed to coincide with the release of the real Cybertruck, he shared a video documenting the full process, which he said took just 100 days, to his YouTube channel, <a target="_blank" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AUp1KHIfme0">ND-Woodworking Art</a>.</p><iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/AUp1KHIfme0?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" title="100 Days Building Tesla Cybertruck For Mr. Elon Musk"></iframe><p>After starting with a metal chassis, frame, and wheels, Dao added wooden panels, seats, and wheel trims. "Next time."</p><p>Representatives for Tesla did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Insider. Much of the excitement for the Cybertruck is based solely on the exterior look of the truck, which automotive analyst for Edmunds, Ivan Drury, said makes it a truck that competes against "everybody and nobody."</p><p>"If the Cybertruck comes to fruition looking like it did at the debut, that should be more than enough," Drury said. "Everything else from tech and features is just icing on the cake."</p><p>Signs that the Cybertruck is getting closer to production have been leaking out at the same time CEO Elon Musk promises the truck will finally go on sale later this year. "Deployable wiper that stows in front trunk would be ideal, but complex."</p><p>The new footage, posted on the Cybertruck Owners Club Youtube channel, shows the human scale of the novel pickup truck, likening it to a stainless steel <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/elon-musk-doesnt-care-if-tesla-cybertruck-flops-production-design-2021-7">refrigerator</a>.</p><iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/yHT040_Pt3w" frameborder="0"></iframe><p>"Man, tell Elon he's doing too much," one person is captioned as saying.</p><p>A person in the video also expresses doubt that the single wiper blade can clear the entire windscreen, but a second gestures to a spot where it is expected to arc past.</p><p>Also viewable in the video are the side-view mirrors, which Musk said in tweets are mandated to be on all new vehicles, though customers can <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/tesla-cybertruck-side-mirrors-elon-musk-says-will-be-removable-2021-10">choose to have them removed</a> after purchase.</p><p>As expected, none of the doors have <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/elon-musk-new-tesla-cybertruck-updated-design-no-door-handles-2021-3">visible handles</a>, and appear to require a phone or proximity keycard to access the cab.</p><p>A person in the video is also captioned describing how the rear of the truck will lower at the press of a button, enabling the tailgate to become a ramp for loading heavier items, such as a <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/tesla-selling-cyberquad-quad-bike-children-2021-12">four-wheeler</a>.</p><p>The Cybertruck in the video is still in the concept prototype phase, and <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/elon-musk-promises-cybertruck-release-date-update-supply-chain-nightmare-2021-11">Elon Musk promised an updated timeline</a> for production at Tesla's fourth quarter earnings call after the bell on Wednesday.</p>

<ul class="summary-list"><li><a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/2022-hummer-ev-edition-1-coolest-features-gmc-electric-pickup-2020-10">General Motors relaunched the controversial Hummer brand this past week</a>, reviving a paramilitary nameplate once synonymous with testosterone swagger and defiant gas-guzzling, but as an all-electric pickup under <keyword id="6356217" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="GMC">GMC</keyword> division.</li><li><a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/07/11/AR2008071102535.html">I begged GM to save Hummer back in 2008,</a> lost the case, and was completely surprised when the brand staged a dramatic comeback with an entirely new mojo.</li><li><keyword id="6372405" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="gm">GM</keyword> isn't noted for brilliant marketing moves, but bringing back Hummer as a halo platform for the company's <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/gms-new-ultium-battery-is-for-electric-car-gearheads-2020-3">Ultium battery technology</a> is a stroke of genius.</li></ul><p>A decade ago, the Hummer fell <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/rise-and-fall-of-hummer-recession-general-motors-bankruptcy-arnold-schwarzenegger-2020-2">victim to the financial crisis and General Motors' 2009 federal bailout and subsequent bankruptcy</a>. "New GM" decided that a hulking paramilitary brand that sold fewer than 100,000 vehicles in its best year wasn't worth continued manufacturing and marketing support.</p><p><a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/07/11/AR2008071102535.html">At the time, I disagreed.</a> I argued, romantically, that "GM desperately needs an obnoxious, attention-grabbing brand to keep from turning into a dreary shadow of its former self." And the country itself needed the Hummer, I wrote, "to remind us of what has always made our automobiles stand out, from the tail fin 1950s to the muscle car 1960s and '70s: swagger."</p><p>I concluded that "Americans don't just drive their cars — they proclaim something about themselves by driving them."</p><p>You can't win 'em all. Although as the reveal this past week of the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/gm-why-electric-car-skeptics-should-buy-hummer-ev-2020-10">new GMC Hummer all-electric truck</a> demonstrated, some brands are actually, well, forever.</p><h2>A powerful nameplate</h2><div type="image" title="Hummer H1" height="1080" width="1920" msid="78983744" hostid="261"></div><p>Such is the power of the Hummer nameplate. What was a stand-alone GM division in 2008, the result of GM buying the moniker from AM General Corp. in 1999 (AM General had created the US military's HUMVEE), is now a sub-brand of GMC, akin to the luxurious Denali and off-road AT4 designations.</p><p>The move was brilliant. Hummer had a basically terrible reputation among the environmentally-conscious crowd, and that was more than a decade before the Green New Deal and Tesla's takeover of the EV market.</p><p>The reputation wasn't entirely deserved. Yes, the Hummer was a rolling ad for American exceptionalism and chugged fuel like a thirsty bull in the desert. But in its more hardcore trim levels, it was an absurdly robust and well-built vehicle.</p><p>One could buy an H1 as a zombie-apocalypse conveyance and feel pretty confident that the money was well spent. A Hummer was possibly the last vehicle anyone would have to buy: Amortize the environmental impact over a few decades, maybe a century, and you could come out way ahead of a Prius.</p><p>That didn't matter to GM's leadership, post-Chapter 11. In those days, the company was streamlining itself to have just four brands: Chevy, GMC, Buick, and Cadillac — and Buick barely made the cut, with GM saving it mainly because of its long and successful history in China, the world's largest growth market, then as now.</p><p>In fact, GM tried to sell Hummer to the Chinese, but the deal fell through. So the brand went into limbo, awaiting its resurrection.</p><h2>Hummer and rumors of Hummers</h2><div type="image" title="2022 GMC HUMMER EV 010" height="1667" width="2500" msid="78983746" hostid="261"></div><p>The rumors about an electric Hummer only started percolating about a year ago, but once the mill started churning, it started to look very good for Hummer 2.0. Why? Because GM had an utterly unique opportunity: revive a great brand that people were <em>still</em> interested in, but without the baggage of macho preening and sordid plumes of tailpipe emissions.</p><p>It worked like a charm. As soon as the GMC Hummer was teased, enthusiasm exploded. It helped that GM also saw the brand as a way to support, in dramatic fashion, the Ultium battery technology is unveiled in early 2020, not to mention beat the <keyword id="8304544" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="tesla-cybertruck">Tesla Cybertruck</keyword> to market by years. </p><p>If anything, the GMC Hummer is even more over-the-top than its controversial predecessor. The powertrain is rated at a near-comical 1,000 horsepower, and torque is a claimed 11,500 pound-feet, which makes a striking headline for a pickup that dreams of towing locomotives but, it's a figure that under some debate. The 0-60 mph time is a supercar-quick three seconds. The truck can also execute groovy maneuvers, like a sideways "crab walk," useful when dueling with difficult offroad situations.</p><p>So who buys this thing, priced as it is for launch at north of $110,000?</p><h2>Not your father's Hummer</h2><div type="image" title="2022 GMC HUMMER EV 038" height="1437" width="2500" msid="78983749" hostid="261"></div><p>Nobody, really. The new Hummer is what the old Hummer never quite managed to be: a halo vehicle for GM's transformation to an electric automaker. The old Hummer was for dudes (usually dudes) who, for whatever reason, wanted to be like Arnold Schwarzenegger. It was, despite its combat lineage, a cartoon car.</p><p>But the new GMC Hummer is virtue amplified by the resonance of a brand deftly inverted. It isn't your father's Hummer, and how!</p><p>Few customers will buy it, even at lower prices (it starts at $80,000, a figure that most backwoods warriors would find excessive when they have many superb four-wheel-drive pickups to choose from that cost much less).</p><p>But who cares? The truck should be the star of the auto-show circuit, when and if auto shows ever come back, there are likely to be plenty of amped-up TV commercial sports during various Big Games (when those come back in force), and the vehicle is going to make little kids and grownups alike perform impromptu jigs when they spot it in the wild. </p><p>Prepare yourselves for the GMC Hummer owners club and for lots of YouTubed Hummer rallies (when rallies come back).</p><p>I can honestly say <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHLmoswkkAQ">I sort of saw this coming</a>, although I'd mostly consigned Hummer to the junkyard of automotive history until early this year. The electric-pickup action, I assumed, would wait for the Ford F-150 EV, and who wouldn't want to take a test drive in a Cybertruck?</p><p>Hummer lost its thunder in the late 2010s. But boy, does it ever have the lightning back!</p>

Instead of imagining a more temporary camper with a pop-up topper or a tow trailer, the artist's redesign depicts overhead space incorporated into the body of the vehicle. The renderings also showcase two different options for either a single or dual sleeper.</p><p>"So I'm liking something a bit larger, like this insert camper that you can add to the vault of the Cybertruck," the artist <a href="https://www.cybertruckownersclub.com/forum/threads/cyber-camper-concept-for-cybertruck.779/">wrote on Cybertruck Owners Club</a>, a fan website. "These renders need work, but I want something in the vault so no need to tow and can travel almost anywhere all the time. So hope that there will be a camper style like this by Tesla or 3rd party companies that would be amazing."</p><p>Tesla's design was teased along with the Cybertruck's announcement in November 2019, but the company has kept quiet about camper-specific details. <ul class="summary-list"><li><keyword id="6355174" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="ford">Ford</keyword>'s F-150 Lightning is pretty similar to its gas-fueled F-Series trucks. </li><li>But Ford did give some unique features to its first battery-powered pickup. </li><li>The F-150 Lightning has tons of onboard power, a real-time range calculator, and a giant frunk. </li></ul><p>In the race to bring an <keyword id="7563303" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="electric-pickup-truck">electric pickup truck</keyword> to market, it can be tough to stand out. </p><p>And in an effort to set themselves apart from the pack, startups and established automakers alike have promised to equip their upcoming pickups with unique and sometimes <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/coolest-features-electric-pickup-trucks-tesla-rivian-bollinger-nikola-lordstown-2020-7#itll-also-purportedly-have-a-transparent-roof-that-can-be-optioned-with-solar-cells-musk-said-on-twitter-that-the-solar-roof-option-could-generate-15-plus-miles-of-charge-per-day-20">outlandish features</a>. Rivian is planning a "gear tunnel" that can house a slide-out kitchen, GMC's Hummer EV can drive diagonally, and the Tesla Cybertruck resembles no truck before it (or probably after it, for that matter). </p><p>But <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/ford-f150-lightning-electric-revealed-price-specs-range-2021-5">Ford's F-150 Lightning</a>, which debuted this week, is a bit different. In designing the truck, Ford had to toe a fine line between producing something new, but not radically different from its popular, trusted lineup of F-Series trucks. The Lightning is no Cybertruck - and that's exactly what Ford intended. </p><p>Still, although the electric vehicle shares a cab and an overall design with the other F-150s in Ford's stable, it does have some unique features that set it apart from its combustion-engine relatives. </p><h2><strong>A giant touchscreen with one quirk</strong></h2><p><strong><div type="image" title="[EMBARGO 5/19 9:30PM DNP] Ford F-150 Lightning" height="1405" width="1874" msid="82945821" hostid="261"></div></strong></p><p>Love them or hate them, it seems that massive infotainment screens are here to stay - in EVs, at least. Following the trend set by Tesla, the F-150 Lightning comes equipped with a 15.5-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen on Lariat and Platinum trims. Lower trims get a more restrained 12-inch display. </p><p>But Ford recognized that its customers still appreciate physical buttons and don't want to have to navigate through endless menus to access essential vehicle functions. So its designers included some analog controls and, strangely enough, embedded a volume knob right into the bottom of the 15.5-inch screen. It's the same setup Ford put in the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/review-ford-mustang-mach-e-electric-vehicle-2020-12">Mustang Mach-E</a>. </p><p>Lariat and Platinum trucks come with Ford's latest Sync 4A infotainment system, and all models have Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, navigation, and WiFi hotspot capabilities. </p><h2><strong>Onboard power for tools, tailgates, and more</strong></h2><p><strong><div type="image" title="[EMBARGO 5/19 9:30PM DNP] Ford F-150 Lightning" height="1406" width="2500" msid="82945823" hostid="261"></div></strong></p><p>Ford started offering <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/2021-ford-f-150-pickup-truck-coolest-features-specs-2020-6">mobile-generator capabilities</a> in the latest-generation F-150. But, it stands to reason, the Blue Oval gave its first all-electric truck an even greater ability to power things at job sites, campsites, tailgates, and the like. </p><p>The conventional F-150 offers a 2.0-kilowatt system, while the hybrid F-150 PowerBoost bumps that up to 2.4 kilowatts or, optionally, 7.2 kilowatts. The F-150 Lightning can deliver up to 9.6 kilowatts of power - a combination of up to 2.4 kilowatts from outlets in the frunk and 7.2 kilowatts from the cab and bed. That capability comes standard on Lariat and Platinum trims, and is an option on the XLT. </p><p>As an example, Ford says 9.6 kilowatts is more than enough to power a tailgate party with a projector, PA system, portable hot tub, lights, portable AC, refrigerator, and two blenders. The truck will alert owners when battery charge dips too low. </p><h2><strong>A backup generator on wheels</strong></h2><p><strong><div type="image" title="Ford F-150 Lightning Intelligent Backup Power" height="1255" width="1674" msid="82945826" hostid="261"></div></strong></p><p>The F-150 Lightning's mobile-generator functions don't end with tailgating, however. Ford says the 9.6-kilowatt Pro Power Onboard system can power the average home for three days on a full charge.</p><p>Ford also plans to roll out a feature called Ford Intelligent Power, which will enable the Lightning to power a home not only during emergencies, but also during high-cost, peak-energy hours. </p><h2><strong>An oddly named frunk with serious functionality </strong></h2><p><strong><div type="image" title="The Ford F-150 Lightning EV truck." height="2029" width="2706" msid="82945829" hostid="261"></div></strong></p><p>Since they don't have an engine up front taking up space, lots of EVs have a front trunk that adds precious cargo room. Ford gave the F-150 Lightning what it claims is the biggest frunk in the industry: the Mega Power Frunk. </p><p>The compartment adds 400 liters of storage space and has power outlets and USB plugs, to boot. That's enough room to stow two sets of golf clubs or three suitcases, Ford says. </p><p>Plus, the Mega Power Frunk has a below-floor compartment with a removable lid for storing extra tall items. The truck also has built-in scales so it can take into account how much stuff is in the bed and how much it's towing when generating a range estimate. Ford says this feature will improve over time with over-the-air software updates. </p>
