Doctors who oppose the decision say that it seems to be made in a hurry and lacks a well thought-out plan. They think that the government should not overlook the quality of generic medicines and the qualification of the person who sells these medicines at retail pharmacies. "Generic medicines are excellent low-cost options, provided pharmacological properties of these medicines are standard and quality-controlled, and all good manufacturing practices are followed according to international norms. Unfortunately, this is not the case for many medicines (even branded) in India mostly due to lack of stringent quality control measures and absence of punitive actions for faulty manufacturing standards. If low quality generics are use in a widespread manner; drug resistance (antibiotics), inability to control diseases (diabetes, hypertension), and worsening of many diseases may occur," Dr Anoop Misra, Chairman of Delhi-based Fortis C-DOC (Centre of Excellence for Diabetes, Metabolic Diseases and Endocrinology) told TOI. Three out of four doctors oppose prescribing generic medicines, reveals survey

Seven <keyword id="982553" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-startups">Indian startups</keyword> recently became a part of the third edition of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Google-Brings-Its-Startup-Mentorship-Programme-Google-Launchpad-To-India/articleshow/40474207.cms">Google Launchpad Accelerator</a>, a six-month long intensive mentoring program by the search giant that is meant for mid to late stage startups. 
 
The list includes furniture rental startup RentoMojo, online learning HashLearn, wardrobe rentals service Flyrobe, the Kapture Mobile CRM app that helps businesses to do better lead management, a platform for doctors to discuss medical cases called Curofy, a desi word game Jalebi and Playment that lets you earn money for playing games.

The program will kick-off with a two-week all-expenses paid boot camp starting 30 January 2017 onwards at Launchpad Space in San Francisco, where these firms will join those from Brazil, Indonesia, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. 
 Each startup will get $50,000 in equity-free funding. The seven start-ups from India will also receive expert guidance from <keyword id="6355629" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Google">Google</keyword> engineers, product managers and other mentors from top technology companies and VCs in <keyword id="6357722" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="silicon-valley">Silicon Valley</keyword>. They will also receive equity-free support credits for <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Heres-where-Googles-first-21-employees-are-now/articleshow/55552145.cms">Google </a>products and work closely with Google for six months in their home countries. 
 
Google's accelerator program has proved extremely beneficial for startups in the past. Over the last one year, the thirteen Indian startups which were a part of the program have successfully raised funding. 
 <keyword id="2766908" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nestaway">Nestaway</keyword> was part of Google's first batch from India and it closed a $30 million Series C investment. MagicPin that offers deals and discounts on Restaurants, Spas, Salons implemented a progressive web app that helped them to drive over 10% of their total daily transactions. 
 
"We are hoping the next batch will continue to find value in the programme and help them to succeed,” Paul Ravindranath G, programme manager of the Launchpad Accelerator, said.

By 2014, he was back at his own game and his style of investing is non-intrusive, where he doesn’t take advisory positions in the companies. “If the entrepreneur needs me then I’m available but I think you should let the founder do their job; I don’t mind losing money for a good cause,” says <keyword id="6367997" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mittal">Mittal</keyword> who has been an angel investor in many other <keyword id="6362513" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Startups">startups</keyword>, and will continue to participate in further rounds if the company is viable.

For doctors, making decisions can be very difficult as you navigate the healthcare system, especially when you need to choose between several treatment options. Curofy – India’s largest community of verified doctors, lying in the subset of healthcare IT, conducted a research to find out the most discussed diseases digitally by doctors this year.

Over the year, doctors have discussed over 80,000 cases around the spectrum of diseases. We have listed down the diseases most discussed in 2016 and here they go: 
 
 
1) Dengue was a major health concern this year. With the onset of hot and humid conditions across the country, discussions around infectious diseases namely- dengue (Rank 3) and malaria (Rank 8) increased rapidly during the months May-September 2016. In the segment of infectious diseases caused by mosquito bite, the screening played a pivotal role in the management of patients with dengue or malaria.

2) Dermatology managed to garner maximum attention amongst HCPs, majorly around diseases; herpes zoster (Rank 1), tinea corporis (Rank 2), psoriasis (Rank 6), to name a few. In addition to it, relevant screening and treatment options were discussed to accurately manage the patients with dermatological disorders, which included blood profiling, biopsy, and fluconazole, itraconazole, ketoconazole, azithromycin, respectively. 
 
3) <keyword id="6359018" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="diabetes">Diabetes</keyword>: Being the diabetic capital of the world, a consistent pattern was observed in the discussion around one of the major metabolic disorder- Type 2 diabetes mellitus (Rank 4), which became the fourth most talked about disease amongst HCPs from varied specialties.

4) Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD-Rank 5): With the rise in pollution to harmful it was no surprise that chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD-Rank 5) was the only respiratory disorder, which managed to become one of top discussed disease amongst HCPs, majorly from specialties- Pulmonology, General Practice, and Internal Medicine. Parallel to COPD and Psoriasis, the highly informative conversations around the diagnosis and treatment of cancer (Rank 7), either surgically or therapeutically, assisted in making malignancy to the list of top discussed diseases as well. 
 
5) Cardiomegaly (Rank 9) and hypertension (Rank 10) were equally discussed by HCPs over the year. The patients with cardiovascular diseases were often presented with comorbidities that led to comprehensive discussions around the management and treatment options for the same diseases, majorly by cardiologists.
