 The patties comprising <keyword id="6362952" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="cow">cow</keyword> poop mixed with hay and dried in the sun, made mainly by women in rural areas and used to fuel fires — have long been available in India’s villages and are mostly used for fires, heating, Hindu rituals or used in the garden. 
 
Thanks to these online retailers, they’re now finding their way to the ever-increasing urban population for whom accessibility to these cakes are not that easy. 
 
And, surprisingly, customers are lapping them up. The customer reviews on the e-commerce sites highlight how seriously the product is being taken by them. 
 While Pushkar Bendre in his <keyword id="18635" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Amazon">Amazon</keyword> review clarifies that the product is indeed ‘shit’, much to the relief of every other potential buyer, he was unable to pinpoint whether it was ‘cow shit or ‘bull shit.’ 
 Not amused by Bendre’s review, another customer who went by the name ‘A B’ requested the seller in his review to add gow mutra (cow pee) as well. He further asked the customers to not mock the listing as cows are sacred. He then proceeded to warn the seller that it should be seen that the <keyword id="603261" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Cow-Dung">cow dung</keyword> cakes are not destroyed while in transit. 
 
However, a majority of the customers have a common concern- that of authenticity of the ‘cow dung cakes’ and have asked Amazon to provide a guarantee card stating that it is not buffalo dung.

While some of the ‘liquid gold’ sold is used for holy rituals and scientifically-backed purposes like plant pesticides in organic farming, they are also sold for not-so-scientific reasons like curing ailments and diseases like cancer, a theory that has been rubbished by many oncologists and researchers. In July 2018, the TOI <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/cow-urine-can-cure-cancer-gujarat-team/articleshow/64833781.cms">reported</a> biotechnology scientists in <keyword id="6354766" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Gujarat">Gujarat</keyword>’s Junagadh Agriculture University claiming that they had successfully managed to kill cancer cells using cow urine and that too in their first attempt. This claim ignited a heated debate on whether cow urine can actually cure cancer. Senior oncologist Dr Anitha Ramesh told the <a href="https://www.deccanchronicle.com/lifestyle/health-and-wellbeing/100718/can-cow-urine-treat-cancer.html">Deccan Chronicle</a> that the theory of cow urine curing cancer is “based on weak or no scientific data”. In fact, Dr Ramesh stressed on the fact that urine has toxins that can be harmful. This opinion was <a href="https://www.news18.com/news/buzz/can-cow-urine-really-cure-cancer-this-is-what-oncologists-told-us-1799607.html">echoed</a> by Venkatraman Radhakrishnan, Associate Professor Medical and Pediatric Oncology, who responded to a question on Quora on whether <keyword id="3316084" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="gaumutra">gaumutra</keyword> (cow urine) can cure or at least prevent cancer with a sharp “No”. Consul General of <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword> Nitesh Kumar and President of Nepal-India Women Friendship Society (NIFWS) and Member of House of Representatives <keyword id="2375773" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="chanda-chaudhary" source="Orion">Chanda Chaudhary</keyword> handed over the cylinders on in Saptari district on June 3. A total of 3,000 sets of LPG stoves and 14.2 Kg cylinders and other accessories like regulators and pipes were gifted by the Government of India to underprivileged families of the districts of Sarlahi, Rautahat and Saptari. Approximately, 500 sets were distributed in Kaudena Municipality of Sarlahi district on April 19 this year. The gifting of stoves and cylinders is one of the 75 projects being inaugurated this year in Nepal as part of "India@75 Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav". Social welfare councils have also been roped in for the distribution process. The government of India has approved Nepalese Rupees 2,40,90,000 for this purpose. Consul General congratulated the beneficiaries and noted that the use of traditional cooking fuel is detrimental to the health of rural women and the environment. The gifting of these LPG gas stoves and cylinders reflected the continued support of India to Nepal. NIWFS President Chanda Chaudhary thanked the <keyword id="44734" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="indian-government" source="Orion">Indian Government</keyword> for its continued developmental support to women. Distribution of these LPG gas stoves, gas cylinders and accessories will replace the use of traditional cooking fuels like firewood, coal, and cow-dung cakes, which produce heavy smoke and cause health hazards. Since 2003, India has taken up over 535 High Impact Development Projects (HICDPs) in Nepal in various sectors Health, Education, Drinking Water and Irrigation, Electrification, etc. and has completed 476 projects and 59 ongoing projects. Amongst these, 81 projects have been undertaken in Province-2, including 19 projects in Sarlahi; 5 projects in Rautahat and 9 projects in Saptari Districts. In addition to these, 87 ambulances to various health posts and 3 school buses have been gifted in these three districts by India. As close neighbours, India and Nepal share wide-ranging and multi-sectoral cooperation. The implementation of this project reflects the continued support of the Government of India in bolstering the efforts of the Government of Nepal for the upliftment of its people.
