Responding to a question on the ODNI's statement, McEnany said "Let me remind everyone intelligence is just an estimate essentially, and it's up to policymakers to decide what to do with that intelligence. In this case, the policymaker is the President of the United States and he will make a decision at the right time."She alleged that there's no secret that China stopped US investigators from coming in."It was of paramount importance that we got into China in an expedited fashion, and that didn't happen. With respect to the World Health Organization, they have some questions of their own to answer," the press secretary said.She said the United States, as the president has emphasized, provides about USD 400 million to USD 500 million per year to the WHO compared to China at roughly USD 40 million a year, but yet "WHO appears to have a very clear China bias"."I mean, look at this timeline and it's really damning for the WHO when you just consider the fact that on December 31, you had Taiwanese officials warning about human to human transmission and the WHO did not make that public. On January 9 the WHO repeated China's claim that the virus 'does not transmit readily between people'. That was quite apparently false," McEnany said."On January 14, the WHO again repeated China's talking points about no human to human transmission. They praised China's leadership on 22 January. On the 23rd, they said, and this is incredible, the pandemic didn't represent a public health emergency of international concern," she said."And even on February 29, you had the WHO saying that when the coronavirus was spreading around the world, they chose to put, excuse me, political correctness first by opposing lifesaving travel restrictions." Mumbai, Mar 20 () Even as gold prices remained weak, the coronavirus outbreak has severely impacted the market sentiment in the country keeping consumers away from retail stores leading to a fall in demand, according to the World Gold Council (WGC). "Following the COVID-19 outbreak, we face unprecedented levels of anxiety globally, which has affected all asset classes including gold. It appears that volatility in gold price is driven by massive liquidations across all assets and likely magnified by leveraged positions and rule-based trading," WGC Managing Director (India) Somasundaram P R told here. Gold's liquidity has enabled people to raise their cash to cover losses in other asset classes, he added. "In spot of such volatility, gold remains one of the best-performing asset classes year to date. It may take a while until financial markets stabilise. Meanwhile, gold price too may experience further swings," he said. However, additional quantitative easing (QE) and deep cuts in interest rates will positively impact gold, he said. The fear of the outbreak has also led to a fall in gold jewellery purchases as the environment has severely impacted sentiments and celebrations, Somasundaram said. "Consumer demand may soften in the first half of this year, however, once the pandemic subsides, we expect wedding preparations to resume and gold to be among the first of the asset classes to witness consumer appetite," he added. The reasons for the softening of gold prices are the dollar's relentless rally over the past few sessions, the world markets in panic mode, plunging commodity prices and the sharp growth of bond yields over the past one week, according to technology focused stock broking firm FYERS. Retail teams will receive updates from their managers on the opening date for their store and on other supportive steps we are taking," O'Brien said in a letter to employees recently. According to O'Brien, the company is working to reopen Apple's corporate offices and contact centers next week. The death toll due to the novel coronavirus outbreak in China has reached 722, authorities said on Saturday, while the number of confirmed cases also rose to 34,546. Chinese health authorities said they received reports of 3,399 new confirmed cases of novel coronavirus infection and 86 deaths Friday from 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, Xinhua reported. Among the deaths, 81 are in Hubei Province, two in Heilongjiang as well as one in Beijing, Henan and Gansu respectively, according to China's National Health Commission.
