 India saw a steep rise in the number of infected cases after 28 news cases were reported in 10 states on March 10. The total number of people infected with Coronavirus stands 184, out which 13 have recovered and 3 are dead. The course titled ‘COVID-19 Certificate on Awareness and Management’, is free of cost and open to all individuals with any academic backgrounds. As of now, 21,623 people have enrolled in the course. “If the situation gets worse, there will be a requirement for a lot of trained manpower and in the future the government can hire those who know more about it,” a FICCI official told the Print. Anybody with a social media and Gmail account can sign up for the course at https://kite.medvarsity.com/. The course material has 9 modules and eight videos explaining Coronavirus, how it develops, and how to prevent coronavirus outbreak. Moreover, it also has a pdf which provides do’s and dont’s during the coronavirus outbreak. “The course has no fixed time schedule. <ul><li>According to <keyword id="2240844" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="UDEMY">Udemy</keyword> report on ‘What the world is learning (From home)’ the <keyword id="23248" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Online-learning">online learning</keyword> enrollments in India went up by a whopping 606% for courses teaching <keyword id="506779" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="communication-skills">communication skills</keyword>. </li><li>This is followed by the demand for courses in financial analysis and business fundamentals at 311% and 281%, respectively. </li><li>The demand for soft skills like growth mindset, creativity, innovation and focus mastery witnessed the highest growth in enrollments on Udemy. </li><li>Overall, the online learning enrollments surged by 200%.</li></ul>Essentially, the masses in India don’t speak English as their first language. However for corporates, soft skills like business communication are a non-negotiable requirement. This has led to an increased demand for <keyword id="650673" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Online-courses">online courses</keyword> in the domain. According to Udemy report on ‘What the world is learning (From home)’ the online learning enrollments in India went up by a whopping 606% for courses teaching communication skills after people were confined to their homes due to <keyword id="1754604" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="coronavirus">Coronavirus</keyword> lockdown. “There is increased interest in online courses to feed personal interests and new hobbies, such as Ukulele and Technical Drawing. Demand for particular online learning topics also varies by country and geographic area, such as communication skills in India and Piano in Spain,” the report said. This is followed by the demand for courses in financial analysis and business fundamentals at 311% and 281%, respectively. The demand for soft skills like growth mindset, creativity, innovation and focus mastery witnessed the highest growth in enrollments on Udemy. “If I were to generalize a bit, then routine and mono-skilled roles will be replaced with specialists, insights-driven and multidisciplinary roles. Skills like creativity, empathy, collaboration will gain even more prominence,” Sanjiv Mehta, CEO, HUL <a href="https://youtu.be/RUKyUK50TPY">said</a> in a webinar. Overall, the online learning enrollments witnessed a 200% increase. This may be because the employees too are working in a remote setu and they are now keen on acquiring new skills. “As a result of this pandemic, we are all being forced to learn. Some of us are learning how to work from home and how to work from home along with kids. Others are learning out of necessity because of job loss or an uncertain professional future. Learning requires effort, but it can help us make progress from where we are today to where we want to be,” said Padraig Nash, Director of Learning Science and Instructional Design at Udemy. I'm your host, Alexei Oreskovic, Business Insider's West Coast bureau chief and global tech editor. <h3>This week: A risky April calendar and Amazon's biggest day of the year</h3>Whether you live for April Fool's Day or consider it a tiresome tradition, you probably agree that this isn't the right time for pranks that could mislead people.Google sent word throughout the company last week to halt all April Fool's Day gags and instructed staff <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/coronavirus-google-cancels-april-fools-day-jokes-pandemic-2020-3">to "suss out" any planned pranks</a> that might have slipped under management's radar. Other big companies did the same (and they'll spend an anxious Wednesday praying that all their employees got the memo).The untold April Fool's jokes will ultimately be a painless cost for tech companies write off. The same can't be said of other events on the calendar.The Summer Olympics that were due to kick off this July in Japan will leave a lot of businesses reeling from their postponement. Tokyo hotels and restaurants that were banking on the games will suffer. But the pain will also be shared by tech companies like Airbnb and Uber, whose multi-billion dollar valuations are based upon tapping into local businesses. On Monday, Airbnb announced it would put up $250 million to help its hosts weather the COVID-19 cancellation storm - it's a nice move, but $250 million isn't much for a service that's estimated to generate <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/cost-of-airbnbs-covid-19-refund-policy-borne-by-hosts-2020-3">$2.5 billion a month in bookings</a>.And I imagine there are a lot of Airbnb hosts in Japan with properties that will now sit vacant in July. If they start asking Airbnb for reimbursements, it could get expensive. Similarly, the missing marketing that would have accompanied the Olympics will be felt by online ad platforms like Google and Facebook. As Hugh Langley writes, the combination of the Olympics postponement and the general travel deep-freeze <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/google-may-see-first-ever-advertising-revenue-drop-2020-3">will leave a big hole in Google's revenue</a> - so much so that at least one Wall Street analyst expects Google to post its first-ever year-on-year revenue decline later this year. That brings us to another big July event: Amazon Prime Day. This corporate paean to the shopping gods doesn't have the history or the mythology of the Olympic games, but it has quickly earned its place in the pantheon of consumer traditions. And as Eugene Kim reports, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/amazon-invites-sellers-to-prime-day-amid-covid-19-logistics-issues-2020-3">Amazon is not about to call it off so easily. </a>According to leaked emails that Eugene obtained, Amazon is pushing full steam ahead with this summer's Prime Day, telling merchants to be ready to ship their inventory by May.It's a tricky proposition for Amazon. <ul><li>Several companies have laid off staff while a lot of employees are sitting on the bench, finding a way to grab projects. All of this has triggered fears of unemployment and shook the confidence of the Indian workforce. </li><li>According to LinkedIn’s Workforce Confidence Index, one in four employees have reported a decrease in their income while over a third of them are now struggling for their personal finances. </li><li>Three in five professionals said that they will invest in upskilling. While a lot of them will also pay attention to their resumes. </li><li>Despite the lockdown, only 55% are offering remote working options.</li></ul>It seems like the whole world is working from home. But in spite of the lockdown only 55% of people have been offered remote working options. Added to that, a quarter of India’s workforce already reported a dip in their incomes, according to LinkedIn. Considering the fact that the end is not in sight, fear of unemployment has shook the confidence of the Indian workforce. According to LinkedIn’s Workforce Confidence Index based on a survey of more than 1,000 members, over a third of employees are now struggling with personal finances — which will in turn lead to a dip in spending and investment. A third of managers expect tougher times in the next 6 months The situation may not get better anytime soon. A third of the senior management executives fear tougher times in the next six months. This, mixed with increasing unemployment rate in general, Indian professionals are now focussing on reskilling. According to the survey, three in five professionals will invest in upskilling. While a lot of them will also pay ‘attention’ to their resumes. As more Indian employees work from home, it will allow them to acquire new skills. The report says that over 60% of all the job seekers, employees and self-employed professionals will increase time spent in <keyword id="23248" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Online-learning">online learning</keyword> over the next two weeks. “Based on the inaugural findings of the Workforce Confidence Index, it is reassuring to see a majority of India’s workforce remain confident about long-term outlook, and determined in the short-term to upskill, pivot, and adapt. Exercising healthy doses of the 3Cs - confidence, caution, and compassion - can help us navigate these challenging times,” says Ashutosh Gupta, India Country Manager, LinkedIn. The employees are however, optimistic that their companies will rebound in the next two years, achieving economic stability. Zubieta is on administrative leave, according to the university website. Insider reached out to Zubieta for comment and received an automatic reply that he was on administrative leave. <ul><li>India's senior <keyword id="6362179" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="hockey">hockey</keyword> players, who are unable to train because of the coronavirus-forced lockdown, will undergo a basic coaching course online starting Monday.</li><li>The course will be attended by 32 senior men and 23 senior women core probables on May 11 and 15 respectively. </li><li>Captain of the Indian women's team Rani Rampal has already attended the Hockey India coaching education pathway in the past and achieved a Hockey India Level 1 Coach Certification.</li></ul>India's senior hockey players, who are unable to train because of the coronavirus-forced lockdown, will undergo a basic coaching course online starting Monday, continuing the national federation's efforts to ensure that their time is put to productive use. The course will be attended by 32 senior men and 23 senior women core probables on May 11 and 15 respectively. Captain of the Indian women's team Rani Rampal has already attended the Hockey India coaching education pathway in the past and achieved a Hockey India Level 1 Coach Certification. "The Hockey India Level Basic Coaching Course will help them in broadening their understanding of the sport as it will give them a chance to view the sport from a coach's perspective," the HI said in a statement. "The core probables who will successfully clear the Hockey India Level 'Basic' Coaching Course will be eligible to attend the Hockey India Level '1' Coaching Course in the future, thereby paving the way for their development, not just as athletes, but as potential coaches as well," it added. The HI Level 'Basic' Coaching Course is part of a meticulously-designed coaching programme, known as Hockey India Coaching Education Pathway which was launched in 2019. The core probables will get 36 hours to review their online sessions and then clear an online assessment examination which will be based on the latest FIH Rules and Regulations.
