Mumbai, Jun 10 () The number of <keyword id="1754604" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="coronavirus">coronavirus</keyword> cases in Maharashtra climbed to 94,041 on Wednesday with 3,254 new patients being reported, a health official said. The death toll due to the pandemic in the state reached 3,438 with 149 new deaths being recorded during the day, he added. 1,879 patients were discharged from hospitals, taking the number of recovered patients to 44,517. Maharashtra coronavirus figures are as follows: Positive cases 94,041, new cases 3,254, deaths 3,438, discharged 44,517, active cases 46,074, people tested so far 5,93,784.

Patna, May 11 () Thirty-nine people of Bihar tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday, taking the total number of cases to 746 in the state, a top health department official said. Of the 39 new cases, Patna district accounted for the highest 11. "We are ascertaining their infection trail," HealthDepartment's Principal Secretary Sanjay Kumar said. Six of the new patients have returned from outside the state recently. Three persons hailing from Darbhanga had come backfrom Mumbai on May 4 and were on quarantine, district magistrate Tyagrajan S M said adding that they have been found positive during a random sampling. Three others hailing from Muzaffarpur had returned from Ahmedabad by train on May 6, DM Chandrashekhar Singhsaid. Till date, the dreaded coronavirus has spread to 37 out of the 38 districts of the state leaving only Jamuiun affected. Out of total total 746 positive COVID-19 cases, six have died, 377 have recovered while the state is left with 363 active cases. Panaji, May 18 () The number of active COVID-19 <keyword id="9232705" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="cases-in-Goa">cases in Goa</keyword> rose to 36 after 10 more people tested positive for the disease on Monday, officials said. The new patients included nine who reached Goa in at rain from Mumbai on Sunday, and another woman who travelled to the coastal state in her car and was quarantined at Vasco, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said. Samples of all the 10 people came out positive in TrueNat (rapid) tests, he said. Nearly 456 passengers who arrived here in the Mumbai-Goa train were tested since Sunday at a lab setup at Hospicio Hospital in Margao town of South Goa district, according to a health department bulletin. Till Sunday, there were 26 active COVID-19 cases in the state, but since Monday morning 10 new cases were reported, taking the tally to 36. "All the 36 patients have been admitted to a specially-designated COVID-19 hospital in Margao town," Ranesaid. So far, 12 passengers of the Mumbai-Goa train have tested positive for <keyword id="1754604" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="coronavirus">coronavirus</keyword>, he said. Earlier, six passengers, who travelled to Goa in the Delhi-Thiruvananthapuram Rajdhani train on Saturday, hadt ested positive for the infection. On May 1, Goa was declared a green zone after all the seven COVID-19 patients previously found in the state recovered. However, the coastal state has witnessed a rise in the number of cases over the last few days. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Sunday claimed there was no community transmission of the infection in the state.

Nearly 84% Indians feel that recovery from new <keyword id="1754604" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="coronavirus">coronavirus</keyword> epidemic will take 6 months to one year time, a new survey said on Tuesday. Out of 94% respondents who are aware about the COVID-19 disease, 75% are extremely concerned about the disease while only 52% are aware of the virus type spreading the disease, said the survey from market research and analysis firm Velocity MR. The survey involving 2,100 people was conducted in cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Lucknow, Ahmedabad and Jaipur. While 70% respondents feel older people and also people with pre-existing conditions are more vulnerable to be infected by the virus. However, 63% said this can be tackled with if proper hygiene and necessary precautions are taken. "The survey shows that as a precautionary measure, 81% people have started washing their hands more frequently than before and 78% have started avoiding crowded places as and when possible," said Jasal Shah, Managing Director and CEO, Velocity MR. Another important highlight is that 72% of those surveyed said they will be more cautious and responsible while travelling abroad in future. The survey also found that many could not make changes in their day-to-day activities even if they wanted to. While 58% mentioned that they could not buy groceries and daily essentials during non-peak hours, 46% could not avoid travelling for work-related purposes and 25% were not given the provision to work from home by their organisations. The respondents rely on television, social media, online websites and newspaper (in order) to get information about COVID-19. The general opinion among the respondents was that the travel and tourism sector has been hit the most with 51% of the respondents having to cancel their trips in the last one month.

A majority of Indians believe economic recovery can take one year

Mumbai, June 9 () Ninety days after the first coronavirus positive patient was found in Mumbai, the number of cases in the country's financial capital crossed 50,000 on Tuesday while the death toll reached 1,758. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said in a release that 1,015 new coronavirus patients were detected on Tuesday, taking the tally of cases to 50,878. The death toll due to the pandemic in Maharashtra's capital increased to 1,758 with 58 deaths recorded in the past 24 hours. 904 patients were discharged from hospitals, taking the number of recovered patients in the city to 22,942. According to the BMC, the city has 26,178 active patients whereas 690 new suspected coroanvirus patients have been admitted at various hospitals. Indian tech giant Infosys, will be donating ₹100 crore through the Infosys Foundation, the company's arm for philanthropic efforts. Branches of government doing their part National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) officials are putting up one day's salary towards PM CARES. Coal India Limited (CIL) has pledged ₹220 crore and NLC India has promised ₹25 crore. All of Indian Railway's employees have pledged one day's salary to the newly-formed Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations (PM-CARES) Fund, according to union minister Piyush Goyal.
