But this time, the man is from the North, the woman is from the South and the cultural clashes, strongly upheld by the two pairs of in-laws, nearly ruin the relationship. Inspired by <keyword id="6390428" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Chetan-Bhagat">Chetan Bhagat</keyword>’s best-selling novel, <keyword id="694041" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="2-States-The-Story-of-My-Marriage">2 States: The Story of My Marriage</keyword>, the Arjun Kapoor-Alia Bhatt-starrer <keyword id="72970" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="2-States">2 States</keyword> sparkles on-screen (at least during the first half) and has made a big bang at the <keyword id="827271" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Domestic-Box-Office">domestic box office</keyword>, collecting around Rs 38 crore nett over its debut weekend. The first Monday (Day 4, April 21) did not disappoint either and earnings stood at around Rs 6 crore, as per Koimoi. Total <keyword id="1996079" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Overseas-collections">overseas collections</keyword> during the first weekend amounted to an estimated Rs 13.66 crore. 
 
“2 States has a FANTABULOUS weekend. Friday Rs 12.42 crore, Saturday 12.13 crore, Sunday 13.51 crore. Total: Rs 38.06 crore nett. SUPER HIT,” tweeted trade analyst Taran Adarsh. According to <keyword id="255727" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Box-Office-India">Box Office India</keyword>, the film has emerged as the biggest hit of 2014 and has the potential to be the first Super Hit film of the year, depending on how well it can sustain over the next 10 days or so.

The latter, directed by <keyword id="1660883" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Shammi-Chhabra">Shammi Chhabra</keyword>, has been released after too many delays and depicts how <keyword id="6369280" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Lucky">Lucky</keyword> (Eijaaz) ends up marrying the Plain Jane <keyword id="1734" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Laxmi">Laxmi</keyword> (Kulraj), instead of the glam babe <keyword id="190428" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Kammo">Kammo</keyword> (<keyword id="33221" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Shraddha-Das">Shraddha Das</keyword>). But for both the movies, the collections are hardly notable, thanks to very little promotion and near-zero hype. While Lucky Kabootar collected a little over Rs 1 crore in the first two days (Sunday and Monday numbers are still <keyword id="6357415" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="60" keywordseo="missing">missing</keyword>), Dekh Tamasha Dekh garnered around Rs 4.7 crore during the same time span. But we will take a closer look at these two after decoding the tremendous <keyword id="25892" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="box-office">box office</keyword> success of 2 States. 
 
 
 With the <keyword id="6364416" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Good-Friday">Good Friday</keyword> fervour adding to its charm, <keyword id="2208706" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Abhishek-Varman-directed">Abhishek Varman-directed</keyword> 2 States saw 50-60% occupancy at multiplexes on the first day and also did well in the mass belt. Till date, the best performers are Mumbai and Mysore, with Mumbai amassing over Rs 13 crore nett and Mysore collecting around Rs 3 crore nett.  Going by its <keyword id="1996031" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Box-office-performance">box office performance</keyword>, 2 States seems to have done a commendable job, with <keyword id="6354526" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Alia-Bhatt">Alia Bhatt</keyword> (<keyword id="2204646" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ananya-Swaminathan">Ananya Swaminathan</keyword>) and <keyword id="114453" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Arjun-Kapoor">Arjun Kapoor</keyword> (<keyword id="2204645" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Krish-Malhotra">Krish Malhotra</keyword>) showing a rare on-screen chemistry that rocks and sizzles. The young people meet at the <keyword id="6429635" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="IIM-Ahmedabad">IIM-Ahmedabad</keyword> campus and fall in love, but it is, by no means, a campus romance as harsh social realities await them outside. And the movie, too, stumbles at that point as we are led to <keyword id="122267" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="orthodox">orthodox</keyword> households (Krish is a <keyword id="5105" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Punjabi">Punjabi</keyword> lad and Ananya is a <keyword id="6356629" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="tamil">Tamil</keyword> lass from Chennai as all of you must know by now), instead of modern abodes housing millennial open culture, and two pairs of stereotype Bollywood parents. Interestingly, Bhagat’s work has managed to ward off the cliché that lies inherent in cultural clashes and generation gaps. However, the movie has an overdose of everything although it manages to retain some kind of charm that will keep you hooked. As Saibal Chatterjee of NDTV so rightly pointed out, “2 States is a <keyword id="2208734" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Cross-culture-love-story">cross-culture love story</keyword> that strives to be sweet, funny and emotionally wrenching all at once. It is occasionally funny and sweet in parts all right, but the <keyword id="1204454" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="family-drama">family drama</keyword> at the film’s core has a severely stultified feel… It sets out to be a slice-of-life drama about a real couple grappling with the politics of <keyword id="2208729" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Inter-community-marriage">inter-community marriage</keyword>, but it fails to generate enough energy and warmth to draw the audience into a tight clinch.” 
 
In stark contrast to 2 States, Dekh Tamasha Dekh (starring <keyword id="317266" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Vinay-Jain">Vinay Jain</keyword>, <keyword id="2218" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Satish-Kaushik">Satish Kaushik</keyword> and <keyword id="1559" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="tanvi-azmi">Tanvi Azmi</keyword>) is based on a true story and ruthlessly reveals a nation’s <keyword id="2208740" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Political-hypocrisy">political hypocrisy</keyword> and <keyword id="877158" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Communal-Disharmony">communal disharmony</keyword> with the help of its twin tools – satire and <keyword id="424300" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Irony">irony</keyword>. Too many human elements are woven here in a complex tapestry, but the very core of <keyword id="6355987" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="violence">violence</keyword>, <keyword id="6388475" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="tragedy">tragedy</keyword> and hopelessness would hit us hard and keep us wondering about the multi-layered reality we are compelled to confront every day. Although not a typical art house film, this movie is meant for a niche audience and offers a <keyword id="2208742" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Gripping-tale">gripping tale</keyword> of the <keyword id="911828" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="dark-forces">dark forces</keyword> that we are not likely to forget in a hurry.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Tuesday ordered the blocking of apps, website and social media accounts linked to the banned organisation, Sikhs For Justice (SFJ). In a statement, the Ministry said it has ordered the blocking of apps, website, and social media accounts of foreign-based 'Punjab Politics TV' having close links with the SFJ, deemed unlawful under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967. "Relying on intelligence inputs that the channel was attempting to use online media to disturb public order during the ongoing State Assembly Elections, the Ministry used emergency powers under the IT Rules on February 18 to block the digital media resources of Punjab Politics TV," it said. The Ministry claimed that the contents of the blocked apps, website, and social media accounts had the potential to incite communal disharmony and separatism; and were found to be detrimental to the sovereignty and integrity of India, security of the state, and public order. "It was also observed that the launch of new apps and social media accounts was timed to gain traction during the ongoing elections. The government of India remains vigilant and committed to secure the overall information environment in India and thwart any actions having the potential to undermine India's sovereignty and integrity," it added. In January, the Ministry had ordered the blocking of 35 YouTube-based news channels and two websites which were involved in spreading fake news against India in a coordinated manner over digital media. In December last year, the Centre blocked 20 YouTube channels and two websites when the emergency powers under the IT Rules, 2021 were first utilised. Indian government orders blocking of apps, website, social media accounts linked to Sikhs For Justice

Creating a <keyword id="6354576" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Facebook">Facebook</keyword> or <keyword id="790242" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="WhatsApp">Whatsapp</keyword> group? Think again! As an administrator of a group you can be liable for prosecution if any rumour or fake news is circulated on it. Social media platforms allow a person to create a group on which members can share views, photographs or videos. Concerns have been raised about social media misuse as fake news, morphed photographs and disturbing videos with fabricated local narratives can easily be circulated that can trigger tension and even communal rift in an area. In a joint order issued by District Magistrate Yogeshwar Ram Mishra and Senior Superintendent of Police Nitin Tiwari, it has been made clear that any factually incorrect, rumour or misleading information on a social media group could result in an FIR against the group administrator. "There are several groups on social media which are named on news groups and also groups with other names which are propagating news and information which is not authentic. These are being forwarded without cross checking," it said. Considering this issue, directives are being issued to social media groups, WhatsApp and Facebook group administrators and members, the order said. There are over 200 million WhatsApp users in India. It directed that social media group administrators should be ready to bear the responsibility and ownership of the groups. The administrator must include only those members who are personally known to him or her. If any statement is made by a group member which is fake, can cause religious disharmony, or rumour, the group admin must deny it on the group and remove the member from the group, the order said. "In the event of inaction from the group admin, he or she will be considered guilty and action will be taken against the group admin," it said. Such a post must also be reported to the nearest police station so that action can be taken against the member under the law, it said. The order, issued yesterday, says while freedom of expression on social media is important, it also comes with a responsibility. Varanasi is the <keyword id="6355187" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Lok-Sabha">Lok Sabha</keyword> constituency of Prime Minister <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword>. The administration has directed that no statement or post which can hurt religious sentiments should be forwarded to any other group or person else legal action will be taken. It also directs that case under cyber crime law, Information Technology Act and IPC will be filed in case of violation of these guidelines. The order also makes it clear that orders of the <keyword id="6354977" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Supreme-Court">Supreme Court</keyword> and various high courts will be considered while initiating action.

But it seems that business lobby of the country is losing its confidence in the Modi government, which is poised to complete one year later next month. This was revealed in a Times of India report. 
 
According to the news daily, two tweets from Harsh Mariwala, the chairman of Rs 4,600-crore Marico, narrated this story on Tuesday. In the first tweet, Mariwala said that "Sheen is falling of Modi govt in the context of promises, and gradual delivery. Need to move fast, hope interest rates are reduced today." Then, through another tweet he asserted, "Heard from a leading politician that if elections were held today NDA will barely win 200 seats in spite of weak opposition." 
 
It is not just Mariwala who is unhappy with the Modi government, but many other CEOs also come under the group of cheerless leaders. It's said that the conversation in board rooms is changing. According to a TOI report, “Captains of industry are now highlighting two new concerns, albeit in hushed tones - some of the recent notices from the taxmen and the seemingly unchecked Hindutva agenda of certain right wing groups.”

They believe this is sending out a wrong signal to investors at a time when the government is striving hard to woo foreign investors, the financial daily stated. Mohalla Assi 
 
 
 Directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi, this Sunny Deol-starrer movie is in news due to its abusive language and portrayal of Lord <keyword id="33379" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Shiva">Shiva</keyword> in poor light. Following a petition, a court has recently restrained the makers of the film from releasing on July 3 till further orders. The court has observed that it might “hurt religious sentiments of the people” and said it should not hit theatres till the alleged offensive scenes and dialogues are edited. The film is based in the locality of Assi Ghat in the holy city of Varanasi. It is, reportedly, based on 2004 Hindi novel 'Kashi Ka Assi' written by Kashinath Singh. The movie also stars Ravi Kishan, Sakshi Tanwar in lead roles.

 Many cases were registered against this <keyword id="6354633" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Rajkumar-Hirani">Rajkumar Hirani</keyword> film ever since its first poster was unveiled that had a nude <keyword id="6355923" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Aamir-Khan">Aamir Khan</keyword>, posing with a transistor. The movie, a satire on religious beliefs and superstitions, was released across India on December 19, 2014. Aamir Khan played an alien and unravels the ugly face of human greed. Hindutva groups took offence to certain scenes and dialogues while others criticized ‘PK’ that it “unnecessarily” mocked Hindu beliefs and rituals. Police lodged complaints against the film under Sections 153-A, 295-A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). However, it did not affect the box office collection of ‘PK’, which has crossed Rs 650 crore mark. The film also stars <keyword id="6357860" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Anushka-Sharma">Anushka Sharma</keyword>, <keyword id="21678" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="sushant-singh">Sushant Singh</keyword> Rajput, Boman Irani, and <keyword id="7645" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Sanjay-Dutt">Sanjay Dutt</keyword>. 
 
Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela 
 
 
 This <keyword id="6358308" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="sanjay-leela-bhansali">Sanjay Leela Bhansali</keyword> film was mired in controversy from the time its title was announced. The original name of the movie was ‘Ram-Leela’, but was changed to ‘Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, following a petition. According to the petitioner, actor <keyword id="106133" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Ranveer-Singh">Ranveer Singh</keyword>, who played the role of Ram in the film, was a womanizer and his role was a character assassination of Lord <keyword id="52950" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Rama">Rama</keyword>. A case was later filed against Bhansali, Ranveer Singh and <keyword id="598" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Deepika-Padukone">Deepika Padukone</keyword> for allegedly hurting religious sentiments of the people and promoting communal disharmony. However, the film was released on November 15, 2013 and collected over Rs 200 crore on the box office. 
 
Son of Sardaar 
 
 
 Directed by Ashwni Dhir, the film was tagged as objectionable by the Sikh community due to a Lord Shiva tattoo on actor <keyword id="4230" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Ajay-Devgan">Ajay Devgan</keyword>’s chest and a couple of allegedly outrageous dialogues. He played the role of a Sikh protagonist in the movie. Being a producer, he assured the <keyword id="54270" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Shiromani-Gurdwara-Parbandhak-Committee">Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee</keyword> (SGPC) that the objectionable elements would be removed before its release. The actor also promised that a print of the film would be sent to the SGPC before the release. The movie was released on November 13, 2012 and also stars <keyword id="62210" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Sonakshi-Sinha">Sonakshi Sinha</keyword>, <keyword id="6371319" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Juhi-Chawla">Juhi Chawla</keyword> and Sanjay Dutt. 
 
OMG-Oh My God 
 
 This Akshay Kumar-starrer was a mix of satire, fable and fantasy that brings audience’s attention towards the commercialisation of religion. Although the movie insists on the existence of God, it was not like by Hindutva groups. The story was an adaptation of a successful Gujarati play, which also became a hit in Hindi and Marathi languages. Directed by Umesh Shukla, the movie was released on September 28, 2012. An FIR was later lodged against the director, producers and actors of the film for allegedly hurting religious sentiments of the people. The movie also stars actors <keyword id="6357914" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Paresh-Rawal">Paresh Rawal</keyword> and <keyword id="14672" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Mithun-Chakraborty">Mithun Chakraborty</keyword>.
