Artificial intelligence and GPT may be able to solve many of these problems that large customer centric companies face. Global CRM major Salesforce today unveiled two such products that would enable personalisation content at scale for internet companies. With technology companies rapidly embracing language models like GPT (generative pre-trained transformer), the problem of personalisation at scale can easily be solved. Artificial intelligence has been around for a while and companies have used these intelligent tools to engage with their consumers better backed by their own historical data. But with GPT, translating data intelligence into action is possible. Salesforce is of the view that one of the many problems that internet companies have faced has been around creating personalised content at scale and coming up with promotional material quickly that is suited to different customer segments. At its annual jamboree Salesforce Connections this year, the CRM company unveiled solutions aimed at solving many of these problems. Its key offerings include: Marketing GPT, Commerce GPT, Segment Intelligence For Data Cloud, Rapid Identity Resolution and Segmentation and Commerce Concierge Experience. All these are aimed at internet companies that want to better serve their customers across channels. According Salesforce’s research, marketers estimate generative AI will save them over five hours of work per week – the equivalent of over a month per year*. Yet, while they see the technology as transformative to their role, marketers also note the need for human oversight, trusted customer data, and training as critical to successfully use it. Marketing can be tedious because it requires companies to analyse enormous amounts of data before they can create promotional literature. Given that Salesforce already offers cloud services where customer data sits, on top of this offering it has layered its AI capabilities to personalise content and experiences for customers. Addressing the media, Stephen Hammond, EVP and GM Cloud Services, said: “We are excited to be launching Marketing GPT, which is our new AI connected system that connects AI to data to CRM using the world’s most trusted CRM system. This system will bring together the combination of AI from our historical systems and machine learning to build deep personalisation at scale. This will be combined with natural language that will enable marketers to interface with AI in a manner they can create content and engage with their consumers.” Internet companies are now seeing a lot of momentum in the connected journey of customers – from marketing to commerce to service. Artificial intelligence is today enabling companies to connect with consumers at scale by personalising experiences. Salesforce has been in a position to enable companies to transition from software to cloud and now it is pioneering the shift from cloud to AI, said Hammond. The reason why Salesforce is able to create a system that can belt out personalised content so fast is because of the underlying system across Salesforce that stores its customers’ data on marketing, commerce, service and sales systems. In one system you get a full picture of the consumer thanks to the data sitting on the cloud. For companies looking at using these AI enabled products of Salesforce, enough measures have been taken to protect consumer data, which will never be shared with third parties. Salesforce has also launched Rapid Identity Resolution and Segmentation. Consumers like engaging with brands through a variety of devices. Salesforce’s Rapid Identity Resolution and Segmentation will allow users to identify customers across devices and yet offer personalised experiences. This rapid identity identification segmentation allows systems using AI to be able to discover users. One of the hardest challenges while creating content is the ability to create the right kind of content that can engage the broad audience. Coming up with subject lines and body content at scale has been a challenge. Now using GPT, companies can bring in assisted experience for marketers who can engage consumers by using AI to create content at scale. Salesforce has a new offering that will help companies achieve their business goals faster with the help of Commerce GPT. Michael Affronti, SVP and GM Cloud Commerce at Salesforce, announced the launch of Commerce GPT platform. He said: “We have rebuilt our commerce cloud with AI, data and CRM technology. Customers will simply need to type in the instruction that they want to liquidate an outdated product line and Commerce GPT will understand the intent and will recommend the store front designs, merchandising set-ups and promotions inside the marketing cloud.” Salesforce is also launching a Commerce Concierge Experience, which is an application experience built on top of Commerce GPT that will deliver a sort of lifelike white glove concierge experience using bot technology and generative technology to help our customers drive one to one personalisation experience when their customers reach out on almost any messaging channel. 'Come back to me when you have 10,000 H100 GPUs'," Srinivas said on a recent episode of the advice podcast "<a target="_blank" href="https://www.joincolossus.com/episodes/17619043/srinivas-building-an-answer-engine?tab=blocks">Invest Like The Best</a>." H100 GPUs refer to Nvidia's highly coveted graphic processing units that tech giants like <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/meta-zuckerberg-stockpile-tech-hottest-commodity-nvidia-chips-semiconductors-2024-1?utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=linkedin&amp;utm_campaign=insider-sf">Meta</a>, OpenAI, and Google use in their data centers to power and train their AI chatbots."That would cost billions and take 5 to 10 years to get from Nvidia," Srinivas said.Limited funds — combined with a chip shortage — may be one reason Perplexity, which powers its Q&amp;A engine using GPT-4, has found it tough to find the talent required to create a large language model, Srinivas said."People don't want to leave because when you don't have anything when they have peers to work with, and when they already have a great experimentation stack and existing models to bootstrap from, for somebody to leave, it's a lot of work," the CEO said. "You have to offer such amazing incentives and immediate availability of compute. And we're not talking of small compute clusters here."The CEO added that even if smaller firms like Perplexity are finally able to get Nvidia's chips, they'll continue to fall behind because of AI's rapid speed of development.That could make it even harder to secure AI talent in the future."By the time you waited and got the money and booked the cluster and got it, the guys working here will have already made the next-generation model," Srinivas said, referring to AI talent at major tech companies."They're like, 'Look, the world has changed, I'm already in the next generation,'" he added. "'I'll come when the next version of the model is finished training. Official data tracked by Morgan Stanley shows 5% of the population working multiple jobs, with that growing 5% a year. Unofficial data suggests it's more like 8-10% of the population, with interest in multiple jobs growing more than 18% a year, the bank's researchers wrote in a note to clients. The bank conducted a similar study about a year ago, and since then the multi-job trends has picked up, with the rise of <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/generative-ai-threat-to-saas-companies-software-as-a-service-2023-5">generative AI</a> powering the change. "The main driver which has changed since our original thesis is the advent of cheap or free and rapidly democratised access to generative AI tools," the researchers wrote. They forecast $400 billion in income from multiple jobs by 2030, with generative AI contributing about $83 billion of that. Morgan Stanley noted a 14% lift in call center productivity and a 55% boost for writing code, as examples. Side hustles where generative AI can help include affiliate marketing, e-commerce dropshipping, content creation, tutoring, graphic and web design, programming, and renting rooms or other space, according to Morgan Stanley. In content creation and e-commerce, 37% and 34% of respondents respectively said their income had been boosted with the help of generative AI tools.The average multi-earner is making $8.50 an hour when using generative AI, and $7 an hour without the technology, Morgan Stanley's surveys found. <ul class="summary-list"><li>The tech industry believes it is on the cusp of another big boom driven by AI tech.</li><li>Salesforce could be leading it, with a giant list of new AI products in the works. </li></ul>After Salesforce released <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/salesforce-ceo-marc-benioff-fast-rising-coo-brian-millham-interview-2023-6">its second-in-a-row killer quarter</a> with revenue and profits beats, an <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/marc-benioff-shakes-up-salesforce-top-ranks-2023-6">ebullient Marc Benioff, founder and CEO</a>, joined the quarterly conference call. And he told tale after tale of <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/ai-marc-benioff-salesforce-slack-artificial-intelligence-gpt-tech-openai-2023-6">planned AI products</a>. Execs, and the analysts questioning them, mentioned AI a whopping 51 times during the hour-long call.The company had already <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/marc-benioff-sam-altman-neighbors-ai-salesforce-openai-slack-chatgpt-2023-6">cemented separate partnerships with OpenAI</a> (announced in March) and Anthropic, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/anthropic-cofounder-daniela-amodei-trust-safety-generative-artificial-intelligence-2023-4">a rising-star AI startup</a> that says it its chatbot Claude is safe and trustworthy. Salesforce Ventures <a href="https://www.salesforce.com/news/stories/generative-ai-investing/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">participated in Anthropic's $450 million</a> funding Series C round last month. And on Wednesday, <a href="https://www.salesforce.com/news/press-releases/2023/06/07/salesforce-google-ai-partnership/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Salesforce announced a deal with Google Cloud</a> that will allow Salesforce customers to build custom AI apps to work with their Salesforce apps using Google's tools.Goldman Sachs analyst Kash Rangan (who rates the stock a buy and predicts its stock is headed to $325 over the next 12 months, from $215 today) applauded Salesforce's partnership approach."We are pleased to see the company embracing other vendors, such as OpenAI (integrated with Einstein GPT) and Google (for data mobility and integration), to allow for a wide range of data models to be used within the CRM ecosystem," Rangan wrote in a June 7 research note.And Rangan isn't the only Wall Street analyst that feels gung ho on Salesforce's AI plans. Morgan Stanley's Keith Weiss believes Salesforce's claims that AI has the potential to "spark a massive new buying cycle." Weiss also rates the stock a buy (or in his bank's parlance, an "overweight") albeit with a much less enthusiastic target price prediction of $251.Rangan tallied up 15 pending AI products from Salesforce. For instance: Salesforce's homegrown AI product, Einstein, is getting upgrades for Salesforce's Sales, Service, and Marketing clouds that will automate email writing/meeting scheduling for salespeople; conduct smarter product support chats; generate personalized marketing content, respectively.A developer's tool is planned for Einstein to let customers add their own customized AI chat.Einstein will be embedded into the Slack service that is part of Salesforce's Customer 360 apps (which includes a bunch of the company's services). It will automatically summarize info, such as sales opportunities, and can create tasks lists.There will be GPT tools added to Slack and Tableau that will allow users to do tasks via natural language chats or commands.There will be five new AI products incorporated into the Marketing cloud to automate tasks ranging from personalized emails to analyzing engagement. And Salesforce's Commerce cloud, a service that helps enterprise-sized customers sell wares over the internet, has three new AI products planned including a chat bots for shoppers, and personalized recommendations.Products are slated to be released between this summer and February, 2024, though a host of them have no planned release date so far, Rangan notes.Should Salesforce be successful in building AI products into its wares that are not just gadget-y but actually useful, it could set the standard for how AI weaves its way into our work lives.That is, admittedly, still a big if. But, Wall Street believes that Salesforce will pull it off and become the shining example of how AI changes everyone's work lives.As Weiss puts it: "Generative AI = Entering the Next Tech Super Cycle. Similar to cloud, mobile and social, AI will be a new revolutionary innovation cycle that will spark a massive new tech buying cycle, in management's view."

In late December, Lance Junck, 23, launched an online course on education platform Udemy that teaches people to use ChatGPT. In just three months, Junck has enrolled more than 15,000 students from around the world in his <a href="https://affiliate.insider.com?h=9e7b9d4fd3f3938c8fa7432612ebe11bb56856e28e3b8167d9903fa7b444704f&amp;postID=642330d61aaf4e07c93aa2b0&amp;site=bi&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.udemy.com%2Fcourse%2Fchatgpt-masterclass-a-complete-chatgpt-guide-for-beginners%2F" target="_blank" rel="noopener">"ChatGPT Masterclass: A Complete ChatGPT Guide for Beginners,"</a> raking in $34,913 in profits so far, according to screenshots of his sales dashboard reviewed by Insider. When the Austin-based, full-time brand strategist first used ChatGPT last November, he was "blown away" by its impressive generative capabilities. Junck said he wanted to make the bot accessible to everyone and saw an opportunity to teach people how to use the tool with an online course. "There is an incredible learning curve to ChatGPT," he said. "I think people are kind of afraid of ChatGPT, so I tried to make it warm and exciting and approachable." Junck admits that he's self-taught: He said he spends hours on the bot every day, asking it to do things like write an introduction to a novel or product descriptions for certain foods to better understand how to prompt the bot.On top of that, he said he consumes "every piece of ChatGPT content" on the internet, including articles and posts on LinkedIn, GitHub, and Reddit. <h2>The 'ChatGPT Masterclass' has enrolled more than 15,000 students globally</h2>The course, which is more than seven hours long and is now priced at $20, includes 50 lectures aimed at beginners and took Junck three weeks to film. It starts with how to write your first ChatGPT prompt, then moves into specific ChatGPT applications for businesses, students, and programmers. It also includes tutorials on how to make art with AI image generator DALL-E 2, suggestions on the best ChatGPT plug-ins, and even an introduction to <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/gpt-4-openai-model-api-details-2023-3">GPT-4</a>, OpenAI's newest language model. Within a week, 90 students enrolled in the course, Junck said. Since then, the course has enrolled between 200 and 250 new students each day. 15,250 students have taken the course as of the time this article was written, <a href="https://affiliate.insider.com?h=9e7b9d4fd3f3938c8fa7432612ebe11bb56856e28e3b8167d9903fa7b444704f&amp;postID=642330d61aaf4e07c93aa2b0&amp;site=bi&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.udemy.com%2Fcourse%2Fchatgpt-masterclass-a-complete-chatgpt-guide-for-beginners%2F" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener sponsored nofollow sponsored">according to Udemy</a>. Students, he said, are anywhere from 20 to 50 years old, and include college students and working professionals. While the majority come from the US, Junck's course has attracted students in India, Japan, and Canada. Students from Venezuela, Russia, and parts of the Middle East — countries where ChatGPT isn't available — have also flocked to the course, he said.Junck credits the demand for his services, in part, to his expertise in marketing and SEO, which he said is why his course is one of the first to appear amid 1,266 results when searching for ChatGPT on Udemy. He also promoted the course on LinkedIn.<h2>Some students didn't like the course, but the demand continues to rise</h2>While the responses to the course has been mostly positive — it has a 4.5-star rating on Udemy — some students said his course is too surface-level and not any better than free ChatGPT-instruction videos on YouTube, according to course reviews on Udemy. Still, demand continues to rise, and Junck has even expanded his ChatGPT instruction beyond Udemy to target companies. He's taught startups like ClearDesk how to implement ChatGPT into their marketing, human resources, and operations teams. He has gotten paid speaking opportunities to teach companies like CEO advisory firm Sage Executive Group and tech news site HPCwire how to use ChatGPT, according to emails reviewed by Insider.Jerry Rollins, the chairman of Sage, told Insider that Junck's services were "very informative and insightful." Tom Tabor, a spokesperson for HPCwire, told Insider that "Lance has a current grasp of the GPT space and the possibilities of the technology." "We needed his insights of the tech so we could understand how to integrate it into our business processes," Tabor said. Jeff Amon, the cofounder of ClearDesk, told Insider that his company has been working with Junck for months and is "excited" about how ChatGPT is being integrated into the business. Junck, who has no formal AI training, admits that he's had doubts around whether the course would sell. He said he's wondered whether there's "some kid at Cornell getting his PhD in large language models" teaching ChatGPT that would "blow me out of the water."Still, given the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/ex-googlers-are-raising-millions-for-new-ai-startups-2023-3">meteoric rise of generative AI tools</a>, Junck believes there will be an even greater need for AI courses in the near future.As of April, Udemy has enrolled 417,212 students across more than 429 ChatGPT classes on the site — an increase of 47% from the previous month, Callie Kaminski, a Udemy spokesperson, told Insider. Junck, who is running his business on top of his full-time job at an e-commerce company, said he plans to add lectures on how to use other generative AI tools like Microsoft's new Bing and Google's Bard when they are officially launched to the public. Plenty of alums have <a style="text-decoration: underline;" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/1600-harvard-alumni-may-pause-donations-anti-semitism-row-2023-11" target="_blank" rel="noopener">threatened to pause donations</a> over concerns of antisemitism on campus and schools' responses, or lack thereof. Taking money back is a whole other ball game. To be sure, Penn isn't exactly hurting for cash. The <a style="text-decoration: underline;" href="https://investments.upenn.edu/about-us" target="_blank" rel="noopener">school's endowment</a> totals some $21 billion. Losing $100 million, while an incredible sum, won't necessarily make a dent.But the optics of a Penn-grad-turned-finance-exec — the exact type of person Penn presumably pitches incoming students as an ally of the school — forcibly taking money away from it cuts deeper than losing $100 million. The ties between Penn and Wall Street run deep. In the same way the University of Alabama is a <a style="text-decoration: underline;" href="https://www.usnews.com/education/best-colleges/slideshows/10-colleges-that-have-produced-most-active-nfl-players" target="_blank" rel="noopener">breeding ground for NFL players</a>, Penn is for Wall Streeters. And it's not just any Wall Streeters, but pretty successful ones. An analysis by Forbes in 2022 found that UPenn had the <a style="text-decoration: underline;" href="https://www.forbes.com/sites/conormurray/2022/10/02/billionaire-alma-maters-the-11-most-popular-colleges-among-americas-richest/?sh=219a28364a6c" target="_blank" rel="noopener">most undergraduate alumni on its ranking</a> of the wealthiest Americans with 17 grads, including <a style="text-decoration: underline;" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/dan-sundheim-profile-d1-viking-billionaire-net-worth-bio-performance-2020-10" target="_blank" rel="noopener">D1 Capital Partners Daniel Sundheim</a> and <a style="text-decoration: underline;" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/jon-gray-blackstone-profile-succession-schwarzman-interview-ceo-bumble-oatly-2021-1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Blackstone's Jon Gray</a>. But there will be those who don't like the idea of the uber-wealthy holding so much power over universities, even if they disagree with how the presidents handled the congressional hearing. ChatGPT has helped me make my workflow more efficient.</li><li>The generative AI helps me write social-media posts, troubleshoot marketing problems, and more.</li></ul>In my 18-year marketing career, I've written millions of words of marketing copy.I started my career by creating copy for early e-commerce brands on Myspace, then worked in not-for-profit fundraising, influencer marketing, and now real-estate coaching.I'm now a chief brand officer for a coaching business. Language-modeling AI tools like ChatGPT quickly get me 80% or 90% of the way to finished work.I started using AI tools in 2022 but didn't find them to be effective at capturing brand voice and tone. Then ChatGPT took the world by storm in 2023. I use it for dozens of things every day, but these five hacks have been the most helpful.<h2>Quickly write social-media posts and emails</h2>I work for an industry-disrupting real-estate company; most of our advice goes against conventional wisdom. If I let ChatGPT generate without an outline, it'll give me posts and emails full of outdated conventional advice.So I prompt ChatGPT with: "Write me a [number]-word social media post/email in a conversational tone like [my CEO's name] using the following outline," adding three or four bullet points.Adding our CEO's name to the prompt helps ChatGPT mimic her writing tone, cadence, and even emoji usage.<h2>Create variations of the same message</h2>Figuring out new and exciting ways to convey the same message in copy is a struggle. After you've been working at the same place for five years, you run out of creative variations for ads and content.To generate variations of copy I've already written, I use this prompt for ChatGPT: "Think like a digital marketer and generate four variants of this Facebook ad copy."I feed the AI one example because I like to have some control over the initial messaging. ChatGPT can struggle to get the tone of our brand right if I don't give it a clear starting point. If I give it a more general prompt, it inevitably puts together stiff-sounding copy with strategies we'd never use.<h2>Check and modify the copy's tone and reading level</h2>People want easily understandable content in their inboxes and on social media. The average American is <a href="https://centerforplainlanguage.org/what-is-readability/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">thought to read at a seventh- or eighth-grade level</a>.I think the best marketing copy reads a little below that, at a fifth- or sixth-grade level. This means short sentences and paragraphs, a conversational tone, and simple language.Before ChatGPT, I'd use <a href="https://hemingwayapp.com/">Hemingway</a> to test the reading level of my copy and fiddle with sentences to hit a fifth-grade level. With ChatGPT, I can write freely and then prompt the AI to change the reading level and tone for me.Overall, I save 20 to 30 minutes a day with this prompt.<h2>Write long-form storytelling posts by giving the AI a specific structure and outline</h2>Storytelling is the backbone of psychology-based marketing. Our company is positioned like a personal brand, so I have to engage audiences with personal and emotional stories about our CEO and our successful members.But writing long prose can be tedious, so I get GPT-4 to do it for me. It's better at this storytelling than the 3.5 version.Here are two prompts I use:<ol><li>"Following this story structure — 1. Capture the heart, 2. Set up a tension, 3. Resolve the tension, 4. Conclude by offering value — write a 1,000-word story at a grade-five reading level in the first person using the following information," followed by a list of plot points.</li><li>"Write a 400-word social media post in a conversational first-person tone like [my CEO] about [topic] using the following story points."</li></ol>The more specific you can be in your instructions, the better output you're going to get.<h2>Generate A/B-test hypotheses for troubleshooting marketing problems</h2>Sometimes as a marketer you need to solve a problem but aren't sure how to test alternatives or which metrics to track to determine which strategy is better.ChatGPT can help with that, too. It can comb through specific tests a company's looking to run for optimizing landing pages, increasing sales, or lowering bounce rates, and it can generate ideas to help guide your strategy.Here's a recent prompt I gave it: "I'm running an A/B test to compare application page A and application page B in order to increase the number of applications to our program, and I need help generating hypotheses based on email click rate and form completion. Can you provide recommendations for what to test and how to measure success?"Based on the suggestions from ChatGPT, we'd test:<ul><li>Adding a button to our emails to increase the open rate as opposed to plain-text linking.</li><li>Varying the language on the button to see which generates a better click rate.</li><li>Reducing the number of questions on our application page.</li></ul>These are only some of the many ways I'm using generative AI. I interact with other marketers on Discord servers and in Facebook groups to get more ideas for using ChatGPT.On average, ChatGPT saves me between six and eight hours a week.Almost every time I've asked myself "I wonder if ChatGPT can do this" or "I wonder how I could get ChatGPT to help me with this," I've unlocked a new way of streamlining or optimizing my workflow.
