<ul><li><keyword id="9410359" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="vio-spiced-buttermilk">VIO Spiced Buttermilk</keyword> further expands <keyword id="6391475" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="coca-cola">Coca-Cola</keyword>’s existing portfolio of beverages. </li><li>VIO was introduced by Coca-Cola India in the year 2016 with the intent to make a ready-to-drink, value-added dairy beverage option available to the consumers. </li></ul> To beat the heat this summer, Coca-Cola India has introduced Spiced Buttermilk, a refreshing offering under its dairy beverage brand - VIO. As per the company’s statement, the product contains no preservatives or added color and comes in a convenient 180ml Aseptic packaging and is available at Rs 15. VIO Spiced Buttermilk further expands Coca-Cola’s existing portfolio of beverages. The introduction of VIO Spiced Buttermilk is a part of the company’s hyper-local strategy that focuses on developing localized products in India to suit consumer preferences specific to a region. Speaking on the emerging buttermilk category in India, Vijay Parasuraman, Vice-President – Marketing, Coca Cola India and South West Asia said, “India is the largest dairy production and consumption market in the world. Through our history, dairy products have evolved with our culture to suit our palate and cuisine. And buttermilk is unique among them. It’s versatile with taste and ingredients that has adapted locally across every region of our country. In the present times when consumers are looking for functional beverages, VIO Spiced buttermilk is our offering that aims to refresh drinkers while providing that daily dose of goodness. This launch is our attempt to recreate the magic of spiced buttermilk that appeals to the certain regional tastes”. Talking about innovation behind the launch, Sunil Gulati, Vice President, Technical &amp; Supply Chain, Coca-Cola India &amp; South West Asia said, “We have ramped up our focus on product innovation with an aim to build a localized consumer-centric portfolio. Dairy as a category is deep-rooted in Indian tradition, having been consumed as a refreshment or digestive drink for centuries, with an ever-growing mass appeal spanning the length and breadth of the country. Our intent with the launch of VIO Spiced Buttermilk was to create something for the community we operate in, to adapt to the local flavors of the country and expand our beverage portfolio to provide our consumers a beverage of their choice”. A key offering in The Coca-Cola Company’s beverage portfolio, VIO was introduced by Coca-Cola India in the year 2016 with the intent to make a ready-to-drink, value-added dairy beverage option available to the consumers. VIO Spiced Buttermilk can be ordered from e-commerce platforms. It will also be available in stores across Delhi and Chennai, and major towns in Orissa, Andhra Pradesh, Goa, and Maharashtra.

Coca-Cola India launches Vio Spiced Buttermilk as a part of its focus on developing localised products

Beverage maker Coca-Cola has plans to enter the dairy segment in India and introduce its milk-based beverage brand Vio in the country. 
 
Coca-Cola’s Vio brand will compete with Amul, Britannia and Nestle, which have a strong hold in India. 
 The milk-based beverage will be without any carbonation. As per reports, <keyword id="6369745" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Coca-Cola">Coca Cola</keyword>’s Vio will enter the Indian market next year in January. 
 
"We already have an offering in the dairy space - Maaza Milky Delite - which has a presence in select markets. Vio is a global brand and is, therefore, an option available to us. It is too early for us to comment on a possible launch of this brand in India," a Coca-Cola spokesperson told ET. 
 
Experts point out that Coca-Cola Vio’s entry in the Indian market can be somewhat challenging and once inside consumer’s mind, it will do wonders. 
 
Vio is positioned as preservative free and is a mix of skimmed milk and flavours such as citrus, peach and berry. 
 
Apart from Vio also, Coca-Cola has earlier launched mil products. Last year, it had launched Fairlife in the US.

James Quincey, the global CEO-designate of Coca-Cola, during his India visit is likely to meet PM <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword> and discuss <keyword id="1999812" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="sugar-tax">sugar tax</keyword> on carbonated beverages that the government is expected to announce soon, in a bid to promote healthy lifestyle. 
 "Quincey will discuss the implications of a likely sugar tax with the PM, with the Goods and <keyword id="6355686" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Service-tax">Service Tax</keyword> (GST) expected to roll out soon," said an official in the know. 
 
The meeting has been proposed by the company, but is yet to be confirmed by the administration. 
 
Quincey, who will be visiting India soon, will take charge of the company from May 1 after the exit of present CEO <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Coca-Cola-CEO-Muhtar-Kent-is-stepping-down/articleshow/55897085.cms">Muhtar Kent</a>.

Coca-cola, world’s largest beverage firm, is pushing for a post-GST taxation policy in India, which would allow fair treatment of all companies according to the content of the product. 
 
The management in India, coke’s sixth biggest market globally, wants the government to retain the average tax rate of 34% that is charged on aerated drinks after the GST is introduced. On the other hand, the GST Council has said that this category would attract a cess of 15% on top of a peak rate of 28%, making the total tax rate on carbonated drinks at 43%.

 "We hope and expect that all products that contain sugar will be taxed according to their content across categories, and that beverages are not singled out. We are hopeful GST will be levied on the basis of sugar content, not on the basis of carbonation," Venkatesh Kini, President of <keyword id="6385848" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Coca-Cola-India">Coca-Cola India</keyword>, told ET.

Coca-cola CEO-designate might meet the PM to discuss Sugar Tax

<keyword id="1378223" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Venkatesh-Kini">Venkatesh Kini</keyword>, President of <keyword id="6385848" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Coca-Cola-India">Coca-Cola India</keyword>, has shunned rumours regarding major attrition in the company. 
 
"When there is a <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/coca-cola-india-goesfor-a-senior-management-reshuffle/articleshow/56061733.cms">reshuffling</a> of roles, which we have done in recent months, there is bound to be speculation. We continue to have the lowest attrition among peer companies," he told ET. 
 Speculations are rife, at least a couple of senior officials have resigned at the India unit of world's largest maker of <keyword id="158884" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="fizzy-drinks">fizzy drinks</keyword>. Kini, after denying such developments, said that what has happened is a routine reshuffle of roles, and some managers have been promoted to leadership roles in overseas markets.

 He also talked about the urban consumers’ growing demand for <keyword id="4327251" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="noncarbonated-beverages">noncarbonated beverages</keyword>, saying that the issue is being addressed by adjusting its portfolio so that drinks with less or no sugar can also be incorporated. 
 In the recent past, owing to the growing concerns for health, there has been a stellar shift in the demand of non-carbonated drinks, which now account for 40% of <keyword id="6391475" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Coca-Cola">Coca-Cola</keyword> India's sales.

He also said that even though there has been a change in the way consumers look at aerated and carbonated drinks, their biggest concerns are still safe hydration, accessibility and affordability, and not sugar. 
 
Talking about the future plans, he said that non-cola drinks, sports drinks, dairy, ready-to-drink tea and coffee, and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/bottled-water-is-taking-over-the-soda-industry-now-its-coming-for-beer/articleshow/57498970.cms">flavoured waters</a> would be the areas of focus.
