Now, she is speaking out as a feminist and advocate for body positivity.<p>The 19-year-old actress <a href="http://www.elle.com/culture/celebrities/interviews/a37312/chloe-grace-moretz-hillary-clinton-brooklyn-beckham-interview/">told Elle that she uses her insecurities for strength</a> thanks to her mother.</p><p>"When I was 16, I wanted a boob job," she said. "I wanted the fat pad under my chin to be removed. I wanted a butt reduction, or whatever. And my mom said, 'Absolutely not, you're not allowed to have plastic surgery.' And because of that, I found a lot of power within my insecurities. They're what make me who I am now."</p><p>She added that she tries to keep herself natural on her social media accounts and make everything she does as realistic as possible.</p><p>"I try to break barriers," she said. "I try to not post Instagrams where I Facetune my face and I wear a ton of makeup. ... And I want to break it down for young women so they understand that you're not just 'born' like this."</p><p>She explained that she works towards her goals and wants to show women that there is a balance.</p><p>"Yes, the reason I have this body is because I work out seven times a week," she said. "Yes, I eat really clean - even though I don't always want to, and I definitely cheat. But you're not just born with this. Sometimes you have to fight for and work for things, and be happy with who you are at the same time. And that's a really hard balance but I want to show it to young women."</p><p>Moretz, an avid supporter of Hillary Clinton, spoke with the presidential hopeful about female empowerment.</p><p>"[They talked about] how so many girls are afraid to be who they want to be," Moretz said. "That's because of the underlying deep-rooted sexism that's been anchoring a big part of America, the kind you can see coming out in the Trump campaign."</p><p>They also spoke about the problems with the educational system for the youth in the US.</p><p>Moretz decided to skip college when she was 18 because she couldn't "justify the expense" of spending all the money she's worked for and saved on an experience she would have to pay back later.</p><p>"That's going to make me resent an experience that should be so fulfilling," she said. "You shouldn't have to buy education. That's something we need to give to the youth of America because it's going to raise income, it's going to raise job satisfaction, it's probably going to raise empathy and understanding of other people. Chloe Grace Moretz: 'My insecurities make me who I am'

<p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>On the surface, "Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising" looks like a typical Seth Rogen stoner comedy, in which youthful freedom&#xa0;reigns.<p>But in fact, it's the rare sequel that works as a standalone. The frat humor from the original is cleverly flipped, so the material speaks directly to college-age women.</p><p>That's right, Seth Rogen made a movie that empowers women.</p><p>And the face of the movie isn't so much Rogen as it's costar Chloë Grace Moretz, the 19-year-old who has quickly become one of Hollywood's youngest advocates for progressive work for females.</p><p>In "Neighbors 2," she plays Shelby, who after being told that sororities are by law not allowed to have parties (<a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2016/01/22/why-frats-can-throw-parties-but-sororities-cant/" target="_blank">this is a fact</a>) decides to start her own with a group of friends. They end up finding a house next to Kelly (Rose Byrne) and Mac Radner (Rogen), who already dealt with a frat next to them in the first movie and are trying to sell their house. With the help of former frat boy Teddy Sanders (Zac Efron), the girls learn how to make a thriving sorority, while Kelly and Mac try to keep the potential buyers of their house from realizing that Greek life is back on the block.</p><p>Amazingly enough, Moretz playing a college freshman who doesn't want to obey the rules of&#xa0;a school-supported sorority is exactly what Hollywood needs right now.</p><p>Business Insider talked to Moretz to find out how she helped make the "Neighbors 2" script sound more millennial, the roles she will absolutely say no to, and the A-listers in Hollywood she turns to for guidance.</p><p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div><strong>Business Insider: <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/seth-rogen-evan-goldberg-interview-2016-5">I talked to Seth and Evan</a> and they were very honest that they didn't have a clue how to write for college girls. So how did you and your castmates help out?</strong><p><strong>Chloë Grace Moretz:</strong> They would write an outline of what they wanted us to do and then we would fill it in with how we like to say things and the stupid stuff that my generation comes up with.</p><p><strong>BI: So a scene like the beginning of the movie, where your character and her friends decide to start a sorority, how was that set up?</strong></p><p><strong>Moretz:</strong>&#xa0;We came up with this funny idea of the girls talking about if they did or didn't lose their virginity. So the way we put it was, "Oh yeah, I've done everything but..." And the boys had no idea that's how girls our age would approach that subject. So they kind of just let us go with it and where they wanted it to go. So it was really highly improv-driven.</p><p><strong>BI: Going into the movie, did it make you nervous that you would have to do a lot of improvisation?</strong></p><p><strong>Moretz:</strong> The first day was an adjustment. I really hadn't ever done improv that much before and I very quickly realized that every take is an improv, every take is a new idea. So I would come prepared with ideas and where they wanted the improv to go. It was being ready on the day to make it up. So it took me a day to understand and then the rest of the movie I was ready to go.</p><p><strong><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>BI: The movie is being praised for its progressive comedy. Could you feel that you were making a comedy that's different from most in its portrayal of women, gender, sexual preference?</strong></p><p><strong>Moretz:</strong> Yeah, definitely. We wanted to make the movie progressive, we wanted to make it more interesting for young women to watch because even with the "Bridesmaids"-type movies, we still haven't had movies for young women to watch who are my age that are as progressive as this. This is super realistic to girls my generation. These are the things we're talking about and going through, and that was a big idea for all of us. That was what the boys wanted us to incorporate in the movie. It might not be the cutest stuff to come out of a girl's mouth, but it's realistic and that's what people need to come to terms with.</p><p><strong>BI: And that it's still funny and entertaining.</strong></p><p><strong>Moretz:</strong> It can still be a highly raucous comedy, and honestly, it is almost more funny coming from girls because it's not been seen before so it's a lot fresher in our eyes.</p><p><strong>BI: But is this still a rare case of a script that comes across your desk that isn't a stereotypical female role?</strong></p><p><strong>Moretz:</strong> Oh, 100 percent. This is so a rare case of the type of script you'll be offered in this day and age, for sure. Especially in comedy. You don't really come across these stories being made by a group of adult men who made stoner bro comedies. It's just very unexpected. It's cool.</p><p><strong>BI: Was there a standout moment when you began to pay attention to feminist views and wanted to be a voice on that topic?</strong></p><p><strong>Moretz:</strong> I think it was kind of after "Carrie" when I really realized, Oh, there's a lot of stuff going on here for women that I need to clue in on and understand it and fight for what I believe in. Because that was my first movie as a lead, and as a female lead, you're talking to a lot of adult men about a lot of subjects that they have no idea about, especially a movie which is about a young woman getting her period for the first time and a young woman dealing with mother/daughter issues. Two things adult men shouldn't have any say in, yet you're dealing with studio heads and producers and stuff like that and I was faced with a lot of things there that I'd never seen before. I kind of learned to raise my voice and learn that it's okay to fight for something that you believe in. Don't just be argumentative, don't be loud for no reason, but don't apologize for fighting for something that you believe in.</p><p><strong><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>BI: Who are your mentors in the industry?</strong></p><p><strong>Moretz:</strong> I would say the biggest mentor in my life in terms of actors and people in the industry is Julianne Moore [who also starred in "Carrie"]. She's someone I've always looked up to and who has really helped me out and given me some of the strongest advice I've had in my career. She's just a really powerful, outspoken, smart, sweet woman. And then there's Jessica Chastain, Emily Blunt I think is a very well-spoken woman, I think Scarlett Johansson has said some interesting things on femininity.</p><p><strong>BI: Have you had conversations with any of them?</strong></p><p><strong>Moretz:</strong> Julie and Jess are two people I've had very, very forward conversations about all of this with.</p><p><strong>BI: What's the biggest takeaway?</strong></p><p><strong>Moretz:</strong> We are all being highly misconstrued by media in that sense and that even when we do speak up, it's not a bridge, it's like it's not okay to have an opinion anymore and you have to change that, unless you are saying everything on queue with what CNN or TMZ or any of these quote-unquote news outlets are reporting, then you're not allowed to have an opinion.</p><p><strong>BI: So Jennifer Lawrence coming out saying that her male costars have been paid more than her, was that a big deal in your eyes?</strong></p><p><strong>Moretz:</strong> It was a big deal in my eyes. It was wild to see from contract to contract that two stars that are equal in fame and equel in supposed star power, that there's massive inequality in terms of pay. But even then, it's hard to speak on behalf of our wage gap because it is a very overinflated wage gap. There's a lot more basic issues with much much lower-paying jobs that I think need to be overcome before we really look at our industry as a whole.</p><p><strong>BI: But did that news make you more aware of the deals that your reps are making on your behalf?</strong></p><p><strong>Moretz:</strong> Personally, it made me want to make sure my lawyers and I get paid exactly equal to the other male counterparts in your movie if they are along the same lines as you.</p><p><strong>BI: What are the kinds of characters that are instant "no"s for you if offered?</strong></p><p><strong>Moretz:</strong> They just need to be progressive for the time period that the movie is placed in. So if it's a modern movie, it needs to be realistic to our modern-day standards on how we want women to be viewed. But if it's a movie based in a time period in which women were oppressed, you need to be understanding of the time period and still try to influence some sort of message. I wouldn't make a movie highlighting the excitement and happiness of progression if it's a movie about a certain kind of era where women were repressed, it needs to mean something to the story. Less movies are being made that are cool and interesting for women, in that sense. So it's more of a fight to find the cool scripts or finding someone who is willing to write the cool scripts or find female directors that studios will approve. Chloe Grace Moretz explains why 'Neighbors 2' is the first movie to really get young women

<p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>At 19 years old,&#xa0;actress Chloë Grace Moretz has&#xa0;already learned a lot about what it means to be a role model in Hollywood, and how hard you have to fight for&#xa0;what you want.<p>She says it all goes back to her first leading role, in 2013's "<a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1939659/?ref_=nv_sr_4" target="_blank">Carrie</a>" remake.</p><p>"I really realized, oh, there's a lot of stuff going on here for women that I need to clue in on and understand it," she told <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/chlo-grace-moretz-interview-2016-5">Business Insider</a> while doing press for her new movie "Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising" (which opens on Friday).</p><p>On the set of "Carrie," Moretz said, she&#xa0;felt she had to speak up for the first time in her career, especially because she was in a movie about a girl having her period for the first time while she was also being controlled by male studio heads.</p><p>She said she learned from the experience&#xa0;that it's "okay to fight for something you believe in."</p><p>"Don't just be argumentative, don't be loud for no reason, but don't apologize for fighting," she said.</p><p>It's something she talked over&#xa0;with her biggest mentor in the business, Oscar winner Julianne Moore, who also played Moretz's mother in "Carrie."</p><p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>"She's someone I've always looked up to and who has really helped me out and given me some of the strongest advice I've had in my career," Moretz said.<p>The two have discussed how often female celebrities who speak out are hit with backlash for doing so.</p><p>This happened recently to Moretz when her tweets speaking out against a nude selfie Kim Kardashian posted turned into a headline-grabbing feud between the two.</p><p class="embed-spacer"><div></div></p><p class="embed-spacer"><div></div></p><p class="embed-spacer">"We are all being highly misconstrued by media," Moretz said when Business Insider asked about her&#xa0;biggest takeaway from her talks with Moore. Along with starring in the female-focused "Neighbors 2," Moretz said she's continuing to look for progressive projects that are interesting for women.</p><p>"It's more of a fight to find the cool scripts or finding someone who is willing to write the cool scripts or find the female directors that studios will approve," Moretz said. Chloe Grace Moretz opens up about career struggles and how she learned it's 'okay to fight'

<p>Moretz, who started acting when she was seven-years-old, rose to fame starring in the "Kick-Ass" franchise and won critical acclaim for her recent role in Martin Scorsese's "<a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0970179/?ref_=nmawd_awd_3" target="_blank">Hugo</a>."</p>
<p>So when the teen signed on to Denzel Washington's latest action flick "<a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0455944/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_3" target="_blank">The Equalizer</a>," it's no surprise she also took home a <a href="http://www.tmz.com/2014/10/13/chloe-grace-moretz-equalizer-minors-contract-denzel-washington/" target="_blank">$400,000 payday</a>.</p>

<p><span>In the docs, it is revealed that Moretz will <span>get an additional $150,000 if the movie earns $100 million domestically in the U.S. and Canada.</span></span></p>
<p><span><span>And she's almost there!</span></span></p>
<p><span><span>While "The Equalizer" opened in theaters September 26th, it's already raked in over $82 million domestically. Since the film will still be playing in most theaters this weekend, there's a solid chance it will hit the $100 million mark in the next few weeks.</span></span></p>
<p><span>The film has earned more overseas, bringing it's grand total to over <a href="http://boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=equalizer.htm" target="_blank">$139 million on a $55 million production budget</a>.</span></p>
<p><span>Moretz's $550,000 payday is on par, if not better than, popular actresses in a similar age range.</span></p>

Until recently, the fear about Coach was that it was too ubiquitous to maintain its popularity - a kiss of death for luxury brands.<br /><br />The company has been <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/coachs-sales-are-down-93-and-the-stock-is-soaring-2015-10" target="_blank">working to fight that </a>on several fronts.</p><p>In January, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/coach-brand-making-comeback-2016-1" target="_blank">Wells Fargo analysts pointed to several tenets</a> that indicated the brand was headed for a major turnaround. The firm highlighted Coach's strong marketing campaigns, its updated stores, and the leadership of creative director Stuart Vevers, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/coach-considers-selling-5000-handbags-2013-6" target="_blank">who was brought on in 2013</a>. <br /><br />Further, Wells Fargo noted that Coach was selling better bags - a must for a retailer known for its handbags. By selling appealing, trendy merchandise, Coach was slated to become a fashion staple for trendy young women again.</p><p>Coach also <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/r-coach-to-buy-luxury-shoe-maker-stuart-weitzman-2015-1" target="_blank">acquired Stuart Weitzman</a> last year, a move that has helped spur growth. Coach announced in a release that it would be acquiring Stuart Weitzman's Canadian distributor, a deal that will close in the fourth quarter. CEO Victor Luis believes this acquisition "will have an immaterial impact on this year's results," according to the release.</p><p>Now, the company believes its revival is on track.</p><p>"We have a clear strategy and a proven track record of executing transformation. The turnaround that we've achieved to date underscores our confidence in driving sustainable and profitable growth for Coach, Inc., over the long term," CEO Luis said in a press release.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Randy Brooke/Getty Images</span></p></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>Experts agree.</p><p>"<span>In our view, while Coach has done much to rebuild its brand there is still further to go within North America before it sheds its image of being a ubiquitous product focused on discounting. The recent heritage campaign and the reduced promotional stance are helping to shift perceptions, and as such the direction of travel is correct," Neil Saunders, CEO of consulting firm Conlumino, said in a note to clients. "</span><span>With greater emphasis on product design, marketing, and store environment Coach should be able to rebuild traction within its core North American market over the course of the next quarter."</span></p><p>Investors are also buying into this. <p>Naturally, critics are comparing it to the classic 1976 film featuring Sissy Spacek saying its good, <a href="http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/carrie/" target="_blank">but ultimately a remake of the original</a> that doesn't add anything to the story. </p>
<p>That couldn't be farther from the truth. <span>We re-watched the original film before heading out to see the new one. </span>Here's the verdict: this update to the "<keyword id="321632" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="60" keywordseo="Carrie">Carrie</keyword>" classic is really good.<span style="line-height: 1.5em;"> </span></p>
<p>While this isn't going to receive any Oscar nominations - the original earned <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074285/?ref_=fn_al_tt_2" target="_blank">Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie Best Actress Academy Awards nods</a> - it was an undeniably well done retelling of the story that isn't getting enough credit. </p>
<p>At last year's <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/teaser-poster-for-carrie-2012-10" target="_blank">New York Comic Con</a>, Kimberly Peirce said her intentions in making the film were always to do a re-telling of the original book "Carrie" instead of a remake.</p>
<p>Anyone familiar with <a href="http://www.stephenking.com/library/novel/carrie.html" target="_blank">Stephen King's original work</a> will automatically see that Peirce's film is just that - though there are many nods to Brian De Palma's work.  </p>
<p>At the least, it definitely shouldn't be sitting at <a href="http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/carrie/" target="_blank">49% on Rotten Tomatoes</a> - nearly the same rating other new releases "Escape Plan" and "The Fifth Estate" have.</p>
<p>While the two are very similar, there are a lot of differences between the two which solidify Peirce's take as a solid coming-of-age story for a new generation.</p>
<p>Here's what's different about the new flick <span style="line-height: 1.5em;">and some things the new adaptation does, dare we say, better.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><strong>1. No nudity</strong><span style="line-height: 1.5em;"> </span></p>
<p class="p1"><div class="KonaFilter image-container"><div class="image on-image"><p class="source">Michael Gibson / MGM, Sony Screen Gems</p></div><p></p></div>Unlike the classic which showed a topless Spacek several times and nude girls running amok in a gym locker room, the new film stays modest with girls wrapped up which makes sense because these <em>are </em>supposed to be high school girls and Moretz is, like a high school student, underage.<span style="line-height: 1.5em;"> </span></p>
<p class="p1">In all honesty, the nudity of the original felt unnecessary as it added nothing to the story. It felt more real showing girls in towels in a communal bath in the new "Carrie" than running around. Also, did girls really run around baring their bodies in gym rooms in the '70s? Sounds more like a man's fantasy.<span style="line-height: 1.5em;"> </span></p>
<p class="p1">Still, nothing comes close to the original which sees high school bullies pelting a helpless Spacek with sanitary napkins. Brutal. </p>
<p class="p1"><strong>2. Updates that make sense.</strong></p>

<p class="p1">After being corrected numerous times by both Carrie and Desjardin, the principal continuously calls Carrie by the wrong name (Cassie). As a result, Carrie loses it, breaking an ashtray. We don't blame her. Not only was this part irritating, but it wasn't believable. Is the guy hard of hearing or what? <span style="line-height: 1.5em;"> </span></p>
<p class="p1">Today, that same scene would look ridiculous in the movie and a small reference is made to it.<span style="line-height: 1.5em;"> </span></p>
<p class="p1">Later when bully Chris is denied access to the prom, she tries to fight the charge with her father in the principal's office claiming harassment. <span style="line-height: 1.5em;"> </span></p>
<p class="p1">At the end of the film, Ms. Desjardin doesn't perish with many of the classmates. It never made sense in the original that one of the teachers who was nice to Carrie was also killed. <span style="line-height: 1.5em;"> </span></p>
<p class="p1">Instead ...</p>
<p class="p1"><strong style="line-height: 1.5em;">3. Bullying comes front and center in the new film.</strong><span style="line-height: 1.5em;"> </span></p>

<p class="p1">While the original solely shows Carrie defiled in a gym locker room, the bullying in the update doesn't stop there. In today's technology-driven world, naturally the event is captured on a phone and then uploaded to YouTube to further embarrass the young girl. <span style="line-height: 1.5em;"> </span></p>
<p class="p1">The fallout and consequences of the making of that video play out over the film. Overall, Peirce's take delivers a resounding message that's more relevant now with teens. It's easy to hide behind a screen and abuse one another over social media, uploading videos to YouTube. </p>
<p class="p1"><strong>4. </strong><strong style="line-height: 1.5em;">The new film stays truer to the book, clarifying a lot of moments from the original.</strong></p>

<p class="p1">In doing so, Peirce helps make sense of parts of the original that weren't really clear. <span style="line-height: 1.5em;"> </span></p>
<p class="p1">For instance: Tommy Ross was killed after struck by the falling bucket at prom, something Spacek's Carrie never seems to acknowledge. She already looks bent on revenge at this point to care about Ross' life. It's also never made clear whether Ross perished from a wound to the head or from the ensuing fire at the school.<span style="line-height: 1.5em;"> </span></p>
<p class="p1">In the new film, Carrie (Moretz) doesn't lash out until after Ross is knocked out. He actually stands up for Carrie after the pig blood is dumped on her. Only after he's killed does she go on a rampage.<span style="line-height: 1.5em;"> </span></p>
<p class="p1">Something else the new film does better is making viewers aware Snell and Ross are girlfriend and boyfriend and that Snell only has good intentions toward Carrie. The original makes it seem as if Snell just asked the most popular guy at school to ask out the outcast. Her intentions never quite come off as a good deed until the end. In addition, the new film adds in a pregnancy storyline for Snell which was in the book. </p>
<p class="p1"><strong>5. The new Carrie is empowered.</strong><span style="line-height: 1.5em;"> </span></p>
<p class="p1"><div class="KonaFilter image-container"><div class="image on-image"><p class="source">Michael Gibson / MGM, Sony Screen Gems</p></div><p></p></div>This is the biggest change in the new film. <span style="line-height: 1.5em;">While Moretz's incarnation of the character is still awkward and socially inept, unlike Spacek's version, she tries to break out of her shell. </span><span style="line-height: 1.5em;"> </span></p>
<p class="p1">This Carrie finds strength in her newfound powers of telekinesis. We see a little of this in the original film when Spacek heads to the school's library. We actively see Moretz's version of the character practicing her powers on a flag in the classroom and alone in her bedroom. The one downside to this is that she apparently can now levitate later in the film. We let that slide.</p>
<p class="p1">One of the best scenes in which Carrie's changed attitude shows is in the following exchange with her mother - played by Julianne Moore:<span style="line-height: 1.5em;"> </span></p>
<p class="p1"><strong>Mother:</strong> "Your dad game me a cancer. I thought you were cancer."<br /><span style="line-height: 1.5em;"><strong>Carrie</strong>: "Mama, that's not nice."</span><span style="line-height: 1.5em;"> </span></p>
<p class="p1">Carrie then proceeds to lock her mother in a closet. <span style="line-height: 1.5em;"> </span></p>
<p class="p1">The '76 Carrie would have never dreamed of speaking back to her mother. She would have been slapped by actress Piper Laurie repeatedly. <span style="line-height: 1.5em;"> </span></p>
<p class="p1">Moretz's character becomes comfortable enough with her powers that her mother actually comes to fear her daughter in the updated version.</p>
