The <keyword id="6355014" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="delhi-high-court" source="Orion">Delhi High Court</keyword> on Thursday granted bail to <keyword id="13154993" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Chitra-Ramkrishna" source="Orion">Chitra Ramkrishna</keyword> in the <keyword id="500410" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="money-laundering-case" source="Orion">money laundering case</keyword> related to alleged <keyword id="16434436" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="illegal-phone-tapping-and-snooping" source="Orion">illegal phone tapping and snooping</keyword> of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) employees. "The application is allowed. The applicant is granted bail," said Justice Jasmeet Singh. The former NSE managing director, who was earlier arrested by the CBI in the alleged NSE co-location scam, was arrested in the present case by the Enforcement Directorate on July 14 last year. She was granted bail in the CBI case by the high court in September last year. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had opposed her bail plea in the present case on grounds that she was the "mastermind" behind the conspiracy. The phone tapping case, according to the ED, pertains to a period from 2009 to 2017 when former NSE CEO Ravi Narain, Ramkrishna, Executive Vice-President Ravi Varanasi, and Head (Premises) Mahesh Haldipur and others conspired to cheat NSE and its employees and for the purpose, engaged iSEC Services Pvt Ltd for illegal interception of phone calls of employees of the NSE in the guise of doing periodic study of cyber vulnerabilities of the NSE. Seeking bail, Ramkrishna had argued that no scheduled offence was made out against her and the allegations also did not fall within the rigours of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act . Ramkrishna was appointed as Joint MD NSE in 2009 and remained in the position till March 31, 2013. She got elevated as MD and CEO on April 1, 2013. Her tenure at NSE ended in December 2016. Delhi HC grants bail to Chitra Ramkrishna in money laundering case

<keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword>'s crackdown on Chinese firms and mobile apps is "becoming increasingly unhinged" and the action is nothing but "politically-motivated crackdowns on businesses from <keyword id="1334" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="china" source="Orion">China</keyword>", state-run Chinese paper <keyword id="107898" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Global-Times" source="Orion">Global Times</keyword> has said. The Indian government this week banned 54 Chinese mobile applications, which are posing threat to national security. The Income Tax department on Wednesday also carried out raids at multiple premises linked to Chinese tech conglomerate Huawei across the country in connection with alleged tax evasion. The Global Times said in an editorial that after failing to gain any advantage by stirring up tension at the border with China, which drew stern responses from Chinese soldiers, "New Delhi has shifted its out-of-control jingoism toward a more vulnerable target - Chinese businesses operating in India". "Over the past several months, Indian authorities have banned dozens of Chinese mobile apps and raided local branches of many Chinese firms in shady 'tax investigations'," the editorial said late on Thursday. Chinese telecom giant <keyword id="110306" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="huawei-technologies" source="Orion">Huawei Technologies</keyword> confirmed earlier media reports that Indian tax authorities raided multiple offices of the firm and questioned its local employees. In a statement, Huawei said that it was confident that its operations in the South Asian country "are firmly compliant with all laws and regulations" and that it would "fully cooperate" with Indian authorities. "Huawei's response is standard for any business caught in such circumstances; however, let's be clear, Indian authorities' raid most likely has nothing to do with the Chinese firm's compliance issues, but has a great deal to do with the increasing hostility of officials in New Delhi toward China," read the editorial. Before Huawei, several Chinese companies, including smartphone maker <keyword id="874458" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="xiaomi" source="Orion">Xiaomi</keyword>, have already been targeted. In January, Xiaomi was ordered to pay 6.53 billion rupees ($87.8 million) for unpaid taxes alleged by the Indian authorities, claimed the editorial. Last month, multiple tax raids were carried out at the premises of Chinese smartphone makers in the country. The Finance Ministry issued a statement, saying that Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi's local company in India had engaged in "tax evasion" and demanded that it pay a total of Rs 6.53 billion ($88 million) in taxes owed between April 2017 and June 2020. Xiaomi denied the claim, saying that the company adheres to legal and compliant operations around the world and abides with the relevant laws and regulations of each jurisdiction in which it operates. Chinese mobile phone brands are highly popular in the Indian market, and their market share far exceeds that of local Indian brands. According to the editorial, Chinese officials have expressed concern over Indian authorities' actions against Chinese businesses and have repeatedly called on the Indian side to treat Chinese firms fairly. Commenting on India's latest raid of Huawei offices and bans on Chinese apps, a spokesperson for the Chinese Commerce Ministry on Thursday mounted a noticeably stronger response, calling the actions "a series of crackdown measures" that have seriously harmed the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese firms. "For that, China expresses serious concern," the spokesperson said. "However, though New Delhi appears to be constantly testing China's patience, Chinese officials have and will likely continue to avoid being dragged into tit-for-tat measures with India," read the editorial. "With this, we believe China will take necessary measures to protect Chinese interests overseas wherever they face discriminatory actions." India's crackdown on Chinese firms, apps getting 'increasingly unhinged',  as per China's Global Times

Eight Indian women have made it to the Fortune list of 25 most powerful women who have shaped the new world order in the <keyword id="68550" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="asia-pacific">Asia-Pacific</keyword> region. Indian women who have made a mark include: ICICI CEO <keyword id="45875" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Chanda-Kochhar">Chanda Kochhar</keyword>, State Bank of India’s <keyword id="6379603" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Arundhati-Bhattacharya">Arundhati Bhattacharya</keyword>, and HPCL’s Nishi Vasudeva, and have earned the second, fourth and fifth rankings respectively. 
 Other Indian women in the top 25 are: Axis Bank's Shikha Sharma (10th), <keyword id="269112" type="POSITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Biocon-chief">Biocon chief</keyword> Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw (19th), National Stock Exchange (NSE) CEO Chitra Ramkrishna (22nd), HSBC's Naina Lal Kidwai (23rd) and TAFE chairman and CEO Mallika Srinivasan (25th). 
 <keyword id="175618" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Fortune-magazine">Fortune Magazine</keyword>, releasing the latest rankings, said "More and more businesswomen are taking tougher jobs and helming bigger firms. More than a third of the women on our Asia-Pacific list are making their MPW (most powerful women) debut." 
 Meanwhile, <keyword id="6421975" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Indra-Nooyi">Indra Nooyi</keyword>, <keyword id="54572" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="PepsiCo">PepsiCo</keyword>'s <keyword id="2528634" type="POSITION" weightage="80" keywordseo="India-born-CEO">India-born CEO</keyword>, has been ranked third among the world's most powerful business women by Fortune. She is only Indian-origin woman on this year's global list, which has been topped by IBM chairman and CEO Ginni Rometty and <keyword id="4581" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="general-motors">General Motors</keyword> CEO Mary Barra.
