<ul><li>Indian state-owned broadcaster DD National is all set to broadcast Chhota Bheem starting today. </li><li>The popular animation series will air every afternoon between 2 pm to 2:30 PM on DD National from April 17 to May 3, 2020. </li><li>Indian entertainment channel <keyword id="10822" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Pogo">POGO</keyword> which is the creator of the show, partnered with Doordarshan. </li></ul>Doordarshan is leaving no stone unturned to engage millions of people during the lockdown. After bringing back all its popular shows including Ramayana and Mahabharata, DD National is all set to broadcast Chhota Bheem, the cartoon show. POGO, an Indian homegrown kids’ entertainment channel and creator of the show, partnered with public service broadcaster Doordarshan to simulcast Chhota Bheem. “These are challenging times and we believe that POGO’s fun-filled, relatable content will keep kids engaged and entertained. We are very pleased to collaborate with a platform as distinguished and popular as Doordarshan,” said Siddharth Jain, Managing Director of WarnerMedia Entertainment Networks - South Asia. The popular animation features will air every afternoon between 2 pm to 2:30 PM on DD National starting today (April 17). “The agreement ensures that an even larger number of young viewers across the country will be able to enjoy ‘Chhota Bheem’, one of our most prominent shows,” said Jain. Bringing back the classics After India shut itself down to contain the COVID-19 outbreak, Doordarshan brought back all its classics from the eighties to entertain people. Its mythological show Ramayan gained 174 million viewers within four days of re-telecast. Whereas, it received more than 500 million views between 28 March and 4 April. The Indian gaming and sports media company saw its shares list at ₹1990 – a jump by 80.7%. The shares were trading at ₹1819 at 10.08 am. However, by the end of the day the shares were trading at ₹1576. Nazara’s strong listing saw its first hint in the grey market premium – where it was <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/markets/ipos/fpos/nazara-grey-market-premium-at-71-hints-at-strong-listing/articleshow/81743818.cms">trading</a> at 71% of its issue price of ₹1101. However, the grey market is not an official measure of the market premium. The company’s shares had been <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/stock-market/news/nazara-technologies-ipo-subscribed-by-175-times/articleshow/81588602.cms">subscribed 175.43</a> times by the end of its last day of subscription. It received bids for 51.20 crore equity shares against the issue size of 29.20 lakh equity shares. According to a report by ICICI Direct, the gaming industry in India is currently valued at $ 1.54 billion and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 31% to $ 3.53 billion by 2023. Nazara Technologies sees a blockbuster listing – shares list at 81% premium

It was the fourth most searched show on Google in 2018, said China Internet Report 2019. The report however does not reveal any details about the viewership of the show in the country. The show was also declared as the ninth most searched keyword in India and fourth most searched show in the world, in Google Trends 2018. Motu Patlu is a classic Indian cartoon series on the same lines as Laurel and Hardy. Two best friends <keyword id="1405941" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Motu-and-Patlu">Motu and Patlu</keyword> constantly run into trouble, and subsequently chased by a police officer. The stories and characters are local. The more authentically local the show is, the better it travels,” Ted Sarandos chief content officer of Netflix told Business Insider India. If the trend continues, Indian cartoons might give a tough competition to their Japanese counterparts. For decades, Japanese cartoons and characters like Shin Chan, Doraemon, Pokemon and Ninja Hattori have been capturing the minds of children around the world, telling authentic Asian stories. Outgoing US President <keyword id="6354484" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Donald-Trump">Donald Trump</keyword> on Monday issued an executive order to lift travel restrictions on European countries and Brazil which his administration had imposed in view of the coronavirus pandemic. Travel restrictions on several other countries including China and Iran remain in place. A decision in this regard, he said, is being taken after the January 12 directive of the <keyword id="621740" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Centres-for-Disease-Control-and-Prevention">Centres for Disease Control and Prevention</keyword> (CDC) requiring proof of a negative COVID-19 test or documentation of having recovered from COVID-19 for all air passengers arriving from a foreign country to the United States. Trump said that European Union, Britain, Ireland and Brazil will cooperate with the US in the implementation of CDC's January 12, 2021, order and that tests administered there will yield accurate results. However, the same cannot be said of China and Iran. "Those jurisdictions' responses to the pandemic, their lack of transparency, and their lack of cooperation with the United States thus far in combatting the pandemic, cast doubt on their cooperation in implementing CDC's January 12, 2021, order," Trump said. President Trump lifts travel ban for non-US residents from Europe and Brazil

Nazara holds the license mobile gaming rights of popular cartoon characters like Chhota Bheem, Motu Patlu and Shikari Shambhu. It has also established itself in 64 countries across Africa, Middle East, South East Asia, and the Indian subcontinent. In the last two years, Nazara invested $50 million in gaming technology startups and more. In 2020, it plans to invest in startups from not just India, but Africa and the Middle East as well. In 2019 alone, Nazara has made over 5 acquisitions. In October, it acquired a 51% stake in Paper Boat Apps, a Mumbai-based indie studio for ₹83.5 crore. In September 2019, Nazara acquired majority stake in Sports Unity, the creator of multiplayer quiz called Qunami, for ₹7.5 crore. In August, Nazara also bought 67% stake in Sportskeeda for ₹44 crore. In May, Nazara invested in local languages gaming platform Bakbuck. It had also bet on a fantasy gaming platform Halaplay with an investment of ₹40 crore in March.

Nazara plans to invest $20 million in startups across India, Africa and Middle East

New Delhi, <keyword id="2461546" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="FinTech">FinTech</keyword> services company <keyword id="7349800" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="bharatpe">BharatPe</keyword> on Monday announced that it has raised ₹139 crore (nearly $20 million) in debt from <keyword id="4844054" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Alteria-Capital">Alteria Capital</keyword> and <keyword id="6653" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="ICICI-bank">ICICI Bank</keyword>. The company raised ₹90 crore in debt from Alteria Capital and ₹49 crore from ICICI Bank. The company has raised a total of ₹199 crore in debt to date. "We have committed ourselves to have $700 miilion of <keyword id="6362287" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="loans">loans</keyword> to small merchants and kirana store owners by March 2023 and are hoping to on-board more institutional debt partners in the near future," said Ashneer Grover, <keyword id="170488" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="co-founder">Co-Founder</keyword> and CEO, BharatPe. "We aim to become a digital bank that is the one-stop destination for merchants for all kinds of financial services and this tranche of funds will get things rolling". The company is disbursing loans of ₹200 crore per month to merchant partners currently and has set a target of disbursing ₹1,000 crore of loans in the FY21. "We have already disbursed loans to more to 1 lakh merchants and aim to scale this up by 8-10 times and enable credit for a million (10 lakh) kirana store owners in 2021," said Suhail Sameer, Group President, BharatPe. Last week, BharatPe announced that it has raised ₹60 crores in debt from Innoven Capital, Asia's leading venture debt and specialty lending firm. BharatPe gets $20 million in debt funding from Alteria Capital and ICICI Bank — aims to raise a total of $700 million in the next two years

Equity benchmark Sensex plunged 470 points on Monday, tracking losses in index majors <keyword id="6354512" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Infosys">Infosys</keyword>, HDFC and ICICI Bank amid a weak trend in global markets. After a choppy session, the 30-share BSE index ended 470.40 points or 0.96 per cent lower at 48,564.27. Similarly, the broader NSE Nifty tumbled 152.40 points or 1.06 per cent to 14,281.30. A sharp rebound in RIL along with buying interest in HDFC Bank after strong 3Q numbers offered support to benchmark Nifty index," he said. Elsewhere in Asia, bourses in Shanghai and Hong Kong ended in the positive zone, while Seoul and Tokyo were in the red. Stock exchanges in Europe were also trading on a negative note in early deals. Meanwhile, the global oil benchmark Brent crude was trading 0.22 per cent lower at USD 54.98 per barrel. Nazara has invested ₹83.5 crores for the deal. Paper Boat Apps is the publisher of Kiddopia, an edutainment app which has over 2.5 million downloads and 100,000 paying users. “Kiddopia addresses the concern where young children are found to consume digital content through their parent’s devices. Kiddopia offers a positive alternative while bringing high quality, curated educational content packaged within an entertaining framework that keeps both kids healthy and parents happy. Kiddopia will be leveraged to over 100 million users through the Nazara network,” Nitish Mittersain, founder and MD, Nazara Technologies said. But this acquisition is only one of the series of investments by Nazara this year. In September 2019, Nazara acquired majority stake in Sports Unity, the creator of multiplayer quiz called Qunami, for ₹7.5 crore. In August, Nazara also bought 67% stake in Sportskeeda for ₹44 crore.  In an exclusive chat with <keyword id="824043" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Business-Insider">Business Insider</keyword>, Nitish <keyword id="3835782" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="mittersain">Mittersain</keyword>, Founder and MD, Nazara Technologies talked about his company changing their model to be <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Heres-how-credit-cards-can-get-you-great-benefits-while-travelling/articleshow/55312440.cms">successful in a sector that is very volatile.</a> He said - “In 2004 when <keyword id="6354867" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sachin">Sachin</keyword> decided to come onboard with us, we realized that we cannot just develop our own games, but also get <keyword id="388837" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="intellectual-property">Intellectual Property</keyword> rights from companies and work with third party developers. We also developed <keyword id="3835783" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="nazara-games-club">Nazara Games Club</keyword>, which is a subscription-based platform that allows people to choose from a variety of games. This got us a lot of traction.”

In FY2016, Nazara has claimed to have generated Rs 220 crore in revenues and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Paytm-sees-over-435-increase-in-traffic-since-yesterday/articleshow/55334259.cms">has clocked 35 million visitors. </a> 
 
Mittersain believes in the product and being frugal, and that is why his company has been profitable since 2008. He signs off by saying that he hopes that internet penetration in India increases so that the upcoming sectors like gaming can grow further.

<keyword id="18635" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Amazon">Amazon</keyword> is having a tough time dealing with the home-grown Indian e-commerce companies. The proof is <keyword id="639385" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Amazon-Inc">Amazon Inc</keyword> has reported losses in its international business for the quarter ended in September. The reason for this, as per the analysts is extensive investments in India to take a lead in the market. 
 
The Seattle-based e-commerce giant has lost $541 million in the third quarter, as against $208-million loss during the same period last year. However the company will continue to make the same kind of expenditure in the current fiscal as well. Having launched its annual subscription service ‘Prime’, Amazon has also signed collaborations with movie production houses like Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, <keyword id="15354" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="mukesh-bhatt">Mukesh Bhatt</keyword>'s <keyword id="359695" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vishesh-Films">Vishesh Films</keyword> and <keyword id="736069" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Chhota-Bheem">Chhota Bheem</keyword> maker <keyword id="1093857" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Green-Gold-Animation">Green Gold Animation</keyword> for the launch of its video service. 
 Amazon's Chief Financial Officer <keyword id="2501764" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Brian-Olsavsky">Brian Olsavsky</keyword> told the <keyword id="6474066" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="economic-times">Economic Times</keyword>, "By far the biggest individual thing is investment in India., He indicated the investments (in India) will continue as the company is "very excited about the initial reaction from both customers and the sellers. That is essentially the international margin guidance in Q4.” 
 
 "We are very encouraged by what we see in India but it is still very early on. Our most recent highlights will be the launch of the Prime programme in the past quarter, and it is now one of the top-selling units on Amazon India,” <keyword id="3790980" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="olsavsky">Olsavsky</keyword> told the ET. An Amazon India spokeswoman said, "(We) are committed to invest aggressively over the long term to transform how India buys and sells.” 
 This is the biggest operating loss that Amazon's international business has reported in its history, according to company filings reviewed by the ET. India is the next big retail opportunity for Amazon, after having failed to make much headway in the Chinese ecommerce market dominated by local powerhouse <keyword id="302749" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Alibaba">Alibaba</keyword>. 
 The report, dated September 13, also said that Amazon is losing $1 billion in India annually right now. In June, Amazon founder and CEO <keyword id="191583" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jeff-Bezos">Jeff Bezos</keyword> announced scaling up investment in the country to $5 billion, which is more than the combined capital raised by local rivals <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword> and <keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword>, which slipped to third position earlier this year. 
 "Winning the India market will be expensive, and Amazon knows this. From the last six months their burn rate has increased, which is now showing in the results,” <keyword id="1671153" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Satish-Meena">Satish Meena</keyword>, forecast analyst at <keyword id="151787" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Forrester-Research">Forrester Research</keyword> told the ET.

Telegram founder <keyword id="1684385" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Pavel-Durov">Pavel Durov</keyword> said that the company welcomes peaceful debate and protest, but "our Terms of <keyword id="6359391" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="service">Service</keyword> explicitly prohibit distributing public calls to violence". "civil movements all over the world rely on Telegram in order to stand up for human rights without resorting to inflicting harm," he said in a statement late on Monday. For the last two weeks, the world has been following the events in the US with concern. While the US represents less than 2% of Telegram's user base, the company said it has been watching the situation closely. "In early January, the Telegram moderation team started to receive an increased number of reports about US-related public activity on our platform. The team acted decisively by clamping down on US channels that advocated violence," Durov noted. "The team continues to process reports from users in addition to proactively removing content that directly incites violence". Telegram has seen a significant uptake in new users as WhatsApp's new Terms of Service and Privacy Policy have trigged a fresh data sharing debate. It has crossed 525 million users. "Telegram welcomes political debate coming from all sides of the political spectrum – but will act swiftly to stop those who incite people to inflict harm on others," Durov said. Durov, however, did not address Telegram's encrypted chat feature that protects conversations from outside access and is not subject to centralised moderation.
