Rachin made full use of Powerplay, racing to 46 off 20 balls while Dube, a nightmare for spinners, then used his long levers to whack 51 in only 23 deliveries to increase the challenge of GT batters by manifold. Dube's innings had as many as five sixes. In between, skipper Gaikwad's chiselled 46 off 36 balls also was a significant contribution in another impactful batting performance by the team on a hard bouncy track that was on offer. Finally, it was GT's 'Go-To' bowler Rashid, who drew the first blood but more because of smart work from Saha, who removed the bails in a flash after the Black Caps opener lost his balance and moved out of his crease trying to whip the delivery. Saha's next stumping was way easier as Sai Kishore shortened the length and drew Ajinkya Rahane out of his crease for an indiscreet loft. The ball deviated enough and the keeper completed mere formality. Gaikwad wasn't as fluent as Rachin to begin with but in his five boundaries and a six, he oozed class before becoming Saha's third victim with the gloves. While trying to pull Spencer Johnson, he ended up edging one behind the stumps. After that it was Dube, who just plonked his front-foot and bludgeoned Sai Kishore for two monstrous sixes and also sent Johnson's delivery soaring for a maximum. Dube had the composed Daryl Mitchell for company, who also chipped in with an unbeaten 20-ball-24 in a stand of 57 runs for the fourth wicket in 5.5 overs.

Chennai Super Kings outclass Gujarat Titans to make it two in row

The <keyword id="6354756" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="BCCI">BCCI</keyword> today decided against terminating the suspended IPL franchises of <keyword id="13886" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Chennai-Super-Kings">Chennai Super Kings</keyword> and <keyword id="13802" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Rajasthan-Royals">Rajasthan Royals</keyword>, putting an end to the speculation surrounding their fate and ensuring their comeback in the cash-rich league in 2018. 
 
At its working committee meeting, the Board decided that it would go with the Supreme Court-appointed Justice R M Lodha committee's recommendation of suspending the two teams for two years, making the next two IPLs an eight-team affair. 
 
However, the BCCI did not clarify whether IPL will be a 10-team affair from 2018, when CSK and RR will come back to the fold. 
 
"The decision whether it will be a 10-team affair from 2018 will only be taken at the AGM where the other major decisions including bilateral series with Pakistan will be discussed," a senior BCCI office-bearer told PTI. 
 
Among other important decisions taken at today's meeting, the Board has scheduled its Annual General Meeting for November 9. 
 
The BCCI said it will invite fresh bids for two new teams, which will be competing from 2016 onwards to complete the eight-team format in the absence of CSK and RR. 
 
The Working Committee's decision was strictly in lines with the suggestions of the IPL Working Group, which comprised of IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla, secretary Anurag Thakur, former India captain Sourav Ganguly and treasurer Aniruddh Chaudhary. 
 
"The Justice Lodha committee interim report will be implemented fully The two franchisee teams, Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals remain suspended for two years. BCCI will float tenders and invite bids for two new teams to replace CSK &amp; RR in the Indian Premier League for 2016 and 2017 (2 years)." 
 
Majority of the BCCI members were not too keen on termination of the two IPL franchises, which were involved in the spot-fixing scandal in 2013. 
 
The BCCI top brass has always maintained that it would implement Lodha Committee's recommendations in total and since the Supreme Court appointed committee had suspended for two years, the Working group also stuck by it. 
 The decision was also in consonance with president <keyword id="6379537" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Shashank-Manohar">Shashank Manohar</keyword>'s statement that BCCI won't be vindictive towards any of its state units.

This year, IPL’s brand value increased by 13.5% to ₹475 billion (₹47,500 crore), says <a href="https://www.thehindubusinessline.com/news/sports/ipl-brand-value-rises-7-to-68-billion-in-2019/article29458678.ece">Duff &amp; Phelps IPL Brand Valuation report 2019</a>. Last year however it rose even more at 18.87% growth to ₹418 billion (₹41,800 crore). A dip in sponsorships had led to the slower growth this year, the report says. In spite of this, this year IPL got over 100 team sponsorships from government and the industry. This is a good run even as the World Cup was held in the same year, which should have ideally eaten into the cricket pie. But, there was a 20% increase in the ad spending on IPL. "The advertisers could have taken a conservative stance and saved their budgets for the World Cup, but the high viewership interest in IPL continued to attract them," Varun Gupta, Managing Director, Asia Pacific Leader for Valuation Services <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/news/trends/sports-trends/ipl-brand-valuation-growth-slows-down-to-13-5-in-2019-4453891.html">told</a> Moneycontrol. Among the IPL franchises, Mumbai Indians, <keyword id="13886" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Chennai-Super-Kings">Chennai Super Kings</keyword> (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) topped the charts in terms of valuation at ₹8.09 billion (₹809 crore), ₹7.32 billion (₹732 crore) and ₹6.3 billion (₹629 crore), respectively. While Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings recorded a growth of 8.5% and 13.1%, respectively, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) saw an 8% dip in the brand value. <keyword id="6354506" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Royal-Challengers-Bangalore">Royal Challengers Bangalore</keyword> also lost some of its brand value which is now at ₹5.95 billion (₹595 crore). Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals pick up brand value as KKR and Royal Challengers fall

MS Dhoni set to play 250th IPL match of his career

If you were wondering about the fate of Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals after <keyword id="1682587" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Gurunath-Meiyappan">Gurunath Meiyappan</keyword> and <keyword id="18641" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Raj-Kundra">Raj Kundra</keyword> were banned from any cricket related activities for life, the BCCI has come up with an option. 
 
The BCCI is mulling over running both the teams and appointed them veterans cricketers, who do not have any blot on their career report card. 
 
Sources told Times of India that the matter was discussed during a meeting between BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya and board member and IPL commissioner Rajeev Shukla in Kolkata on Wednesday. 
 
Former Indian captains Sourav Ganguly, Sunil Gavaskar and Rahul Dravid are being considered for running the two teams. 
 
The news daily reported that the board members were also considering the option of introducing two new franchisees as there is a legal commitment to the broadcaster to run the tournament with a minimum of eight teams. 
 
TOI reported that the board taking over the two suspended teams as a temporary arrangement also has the merit of not needing any fresh auctions for players of the two franchises and therefore avoiding the uncertainty and disruption that the other options would inevitably entail for the players.
