 <keyword id="6357912" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="amitabh-bachchan">Amitabh Bachchan</keyword>, you might say, but there is one more thing that these movies share; all these movies have either been written, directed or produced by R. Balki. 
 
Balki, who considers Amitabh Bachchan as his lucky charm, has now decided to rope in Amitabh Bachchan, along with wife Jaya, for guest appearances in his upcoming movie <keyword id="2974811" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ki-and-Ka">Ki and Ka</keyword>. 
 
The news was shared by Amitabh Bachchan on his social media accounts, where he shared some images from the shoot of Ki and Ka. However, a look at the surroundings of the super couple hints that the role would most probably be a cameo, because Amitabh and Jaya are shown to be sitting in what looks like their own drawing room, with family images hanged on the wall, including pictures of his father Harivansh Rai Bachchan, son Abhishek and daughter Shweta. 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 The movie stars <keyword id="1377418" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Kareena-Kapoor-Khan">Kareena Kapoor Khan</keyword> and <keyword id="114453" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Arjun-Kapoor">Arjun Kapoor</keyword> as the main leads. It has been written by Balki, who is also producing and directing the movie, and would showcase Khan and Kapoor as a married couple facing the challenges of the modern world. 
 
The movie would tentatively release in summer 2016.

He's 80 and going stronger than ever, spooling in celluloid miles' with the roles rolling in and directors still lining up to sign him on. <keyword id="6357912" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Amitabh-Bachchan" source="Orion">Amitabh Bachchan</keyword>, they say, was and is still an exciting actor, perhaps the best there ever has been. From Ramesh Sippy who directed him in the 1975 cult film <keyword id="6407374" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="sholay" source="Orion">Sholay</keyword> to Ayan Mukerji who helmed his latest Brahmastra 47 years later, <keyword id="6354348" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="bachchan" source="Orion">Bachchan</keyword> is the man for all seasons and all kinds of films. "What a wonderful innings it has been and he just keeps getting better. He has played so many varied roles in comedy, drama, romance, dancing and songs. He can do anything and everything perfectly. Has there been anybody bigger or better? I doubt it, Sippy told PTI as the star celebrates his 80th birthday on Tuesday. It's been just five days since his latest release Goodbye . "For me, to have Mr. Bachchan walk in my film is a big deal. He is the father of Indian cinema. He is the most respected person in the film industry, Mukerji added. Making his debut with the relatively low profile Saat Hindustani in 1969, remembered all these years primarily for serving as his launchpad, Bachchan exploded on the silver screen with <keyword id="31017" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="zanjeer" source="Orion">Zanjeer</keyword> in 1973. There was no looking back after that, and storytellers across five decades are still trying to decode the success of the man who keeps on reinventing himself - the angry young man' of Zanjeer , Don and Deewaar , the amiable, fun professor of Chupke Chupke and the conflicted singing star of Abhimaan in the 1970s. Then came the 1980s with films such as Shakti and Silsila . The 1990s saw a slump in Bachchan's career and many of films, including "Mrityudata" and "Lal Baadshah", tanked at the box office. Bachchan was back in the reckoning the following decade as a television host in Kaun Banega Crorepati in 2000. Twenty-two years later, the show is still running. This is also the time Bachchan transitioned into age appropriate characters in films. It started with Mohabbatein and continues with varied roles, be it Pink , Cheeni Kum or Jhund . Sippy recalled the casting for Sholay , which saw Bachchan and Dharmendra as two friends thick as thieves . "I had seen two of his earlier films -- Anand' in which he played a serious role, it was a difficult role and he stood out, and Bombay to Goa', where he played a lighter and a more boisterous role, which had impressed me a lot. We signed him. A few months later "Zanjeer" and "Deewar" released. By the time "Sholay" came, he was the rising star, the veteran filmmaker added. Sippy, who also worked with Bachchan in "Shakti", "Shaan" and "Akayla", said it is exciting to see the megastar recreate magic on screen, both the big and small even after all these years. There have been a lot of fine actors and there is absolute respect for all but he definitely stands above, he said.They may be in awe of him, but all of Bachchan's directors have experimented with the roles they offered him. R Balki, who first worked with Bachchan on an advertisement campaign, gave him "Cheeni Kum", where Bachchan is a 60-something arrogant chef romancing a much younger Tabu, and Paa that sees the star playing a 12-year-old boy afflicted with progeria. "Every filmmaker thinks of Mr Bachchan first, everybody would love to get a chance to work with him. We all came to the cinema being his fans. I was luckier than some people. I write my films for him. I have been searching for my next film for some years now," Balki told PTI. The filmmaker's other ventures -- Ki &amp; Ka , Pad Man and Chup: Revenge of the Artist -- feature the veteran star in a special appearance. There is one word to describe Amit ji and it is Amitabh Bachchan. There are no other words... It has become like a character itself. It has so much meaning, you can say persona, dignity, grace, powerful, voice, performance, everything being put together. There is a character called Amitabh Bachchan. That character is a rare phenomenon, Balki said. For new-age directors -- Ayan Mukerji and Ribhu Dasgupta -- the opportunity to direct Bachchan is nothing short of a dream. While Mukerji cast Bachchan as a guru in his astraverse, sci-fi film, Dasgupta directed Bachchan in the TV series "Yudh" (2014) and 2016 mystery-thriller Te3n . Dasgupta has tried hard to keep his fan boy self out of the picture. I come from Kolkata and we worship him there. There is an Amitabh Bachchan temple in Kolkata. But when I directed him, I had to keep the fan boy out. Also, sir knows everything, where the camera should be, what and where the light should be, etc. He sees what the person in front is doing," Dasgupta said. This year, Bachchan has already had three theatrical releases -- Nagraj Manjule-directed Jhund , Ajay Devgn's Runway 34 and Brahmastra . His latest film "Goodbye", directed by Vikas Bahl, opened on Friday. If Kareena Kapoor is to be believed, the reason for her breaking her no-kissing rule is all due to the 'sexy' Arjun Kapoor. 
 
At a recent event, she said, “Let me say that I am quite sure that after this movie everyone will want a cook or maid, somebody to pay their bills. To do everything just the way Arjun Kapoor does. Not because he is very good at his job but because he is a very sexy looking hunk yaar. No wonder you get so many kisses from me in this movie.”

We all know what a brilliant director and writer R. Balki is, and he has proven it time and again, with his ventures Cheeni Kum, Paa, English Vinglish, and lately, Shamitabh. 
 His next venture comes in the form of <keyword id="3018653" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ki-Ka">Ki &amp; Ka</keyword>, a romantic comedy starring <keyword id="2165" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Kareena-Kapoor">Kareena Kapoor</keyword> as Kia and <keyword id="114453" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Arjun-Kapoor">Arjun Kapoor</keyword> as Kabir, a modern couple with a twist. 
 
This was the only brief that we had about the movie until now, however, with the motion poster of the movie being released today, we have a slightly better idea about the whole ‘twist’ in question. 
Amitabh Bachchan, who has acted in all of Balki’s ventures until now and is playing a guest role in Ki &amp; Ka along with wife Jaya Bachchan took to his social media accounts to share the motion poster.

That’s right, it’s Kareena Kapoor putting a mangalsutra around Arjun Kapoor’s neck, with the motion poster announcing that streeling (female) and pulling (male), is the same thing. What we can make out from this poster is that Kia would be a working woman and Kabir would be a stay at home husband, dealing with the lemons that life throws at them. 
 
Interesting enough? But beware, the movie releases on April Fool’s day, so you might as well be ready to be fooled by the creative genius.

Whenever the duo of <keyword id="6357912" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="amitabh-bachchan">Amitabh Bachchan</keyword> and Balki (short and more popular name of R Balakrishnan) come together, they are expected to create a magic on the screen. Cheeni Kum and Paa were testimonials of the fact. It was expected that their latest release together, <keyword id="2268710" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="shamitabh">Shamitabh</keyword>, will take this jodi to all new heights. 
 
However, the box office reports of this weekend share a different story. As per koimoi.com, the movie managed a mere 30% opening, which is not what we would expect from a movie that has Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role. The report further states that in the first weekend, the movie managed to collect a modest Rs 13 crore. The movie has been made <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shamitabh">with a budget</a> of Rs 40 crore and also stars Akshara Haasan. 
 It is noteworthy that last weeks’ releases – <keyword id="2528710" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hawaizaada">Hawaizaada</keyword> and <keyword id="1119087" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Khamoshiyan">Khamoshiyan</keyword> – too could not cash register ringing. However, Baby, which is currently in its third week, is still holding to its ground. The movie has managed to collect around Rs 89.60 crore from ticket sales in India. It may not be able to make its presence felt in the Rs 100-crore club, but it has still managed to cover good ground so far. 
 Now our eyes are on Roy, which stars <keyword id="2180" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Arjun-Rampal">Arjun Rampal</keyword>, Jacqueline Fernandez and Ranbir Kapoor in the leading roles. As the movie is releasing just before Valentine’s Day, we expect it to have a good opening, which might end the current dry spell of Bollywood. The songs of this movie are already getting noticed, so that should be another plus for this movie.

Box office report of Shamitabh

June is at the fag end and we almost have a mid-year report card of Bollywood. Though the year started on a dismal note, it picked up towards May and June. 
 
This year, January was like a drought month and even movies starring big names did not interest the audience. As Arjun Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha starrer-'Tevar'- failed to take off, even the Horrex (horror + sex) formula did not work out for ‘Alone’ and ‘Khamoshiyan’. 
 
Other movies that released in January and failed to make a mark included Sonam Kapoor-starrer ‘Dolly Ki Doli’, 'Sharafat Gayi Tel Lene', ‘Crazy Cukkad Family’, ‘Hawaizaada’ among others. 
 
The only respite that the Bollywood lovers got was from Akshay Kumar’s ‘Baby’, which also became the first movie of 2015 to enter the Rs 100 crore club. 
 
But the jinx did not end in January as February continued to bring more bad news for the industry. 
 
The big shocker came in the form of ‘Shamitabh’. The movie, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Dhanush, was directed by R Balki, the maker who has given us movies like Pa and Cheeni Kum. 
 
Later in the month, ‘Roy’ released, which recorded a good start but by weekend the movie fizzled out. Most trade pundits pegged the crucial India-Pakistan match at the World Cup as the reason for the drop of sales on Sunday but the movie could not recover much post this phase also because of negative word of mouth. 
 
Thankfully, later in the same month we had movies like ‘Badlapur’ and ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’. Both managed to gather decent collections at the Box Office. In fact, ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’ was a complete surprise package and managed to pull crowds even in its third week . 
 
March threw a mixed bag as Anushka Sharma starrer 'NH-10' received critical acclaim. April again was a dry month as Bollywood had nothing to offer that could have clicked with the Bolly buffs. 
 
However, Bollywood saw a turnaround in May. It started on a high note with Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Gabbar is Back’, which went to collect Rs 86.55 crore at the Box Office. This was followed by Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Irrfan Khan’s 'Piku', which struck a right chord with the audience and collected Rs 111 crore worldwide. 
 
Later in the month, Kangana Ranaut wowed the audience with her spectacular acting in ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’. As per reports, the movie managed to collect Rs 190.87 crore worldwide. Given that the movie was made with Rs 31 crore budget, it stood out and is the most profitable movie of 2015 till date. 
 
But, the disappointment came from ‘Bombay Velvet’. Everybody had high hopes from Ranbir Kapoor’s flick but it fell flat. 
 
The momentum seems to continue with ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ and ‘ABCD 2’. ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ has managed Rs 37.05 crore in the first weekend and is holding the fort well. Also ABCD 2, sequel of ABCD, managed to get the biggest opening for 2015 and continues to do a good business over the week. 
 
The later half will see a slew of big- starrer movies such as Salman Khan starrer ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, Vikas Bahl of Queen fame’s ‘Shaandaar’, ‘Singh is Bling’ featuring Akshay Kumar, Nikhil Advani’s ‘Katti Batti’, Aishwarya Rai’s comeback movie ‘Jazbaa’ and also ‘Dilwale’ in which fans will see Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol paired together. In addition, there will also be a third installment of ‘Hate Story’, ‘Hera Pheri’ and ‘Kya Kool Hai Hum’ to look forward to. 
 
Commenting on the movie sentiment of 2015, Komal Nahata, Trade Analyst shared, “It has been a good 2015 so far. Sure there were some upsets in the start of the year but May has been extremely kind and the rest of the year looks really promising." 
 
We hope that the forthcoming movies get the cash ringer buzzing for Bollywood and we continue to see some entertaining movies in the latter half of the year.
