New Delhi, Dec 18 () French auto major Renault on Wednesday announced a partnership with Castrol India for supply of exclusive aftersales engine oil lubricants in India.
 The partnership with Castrol India, leading automotive and industrial lubricant firm, will start from January 1, 2020, the company said in a statement.
 This announcement is an extension of a global strategic partnership between Groupe Renault and Castrol, it added.
 The two partners will also combine their expertise to deliver a jointly branded product range and premium experience to Renault customers, the company said.
 Commenting on the partnership, Renault India Operations Country CEO &amp; Managing Director Venkatram Mamillapalle said, "I am confident that Renault and Castrol's strong and growing partnership will enable us to combine the excellent skills and knowledge across both organisations to explore new opportunities in India's rapidly evolving market."
 Sandeep Sangwan, who will take over as Castrol India Managing Director with effect from January 1, 2020, said the company will work closely with Renault to deliver high performance and advanced lubricants to its customers, and jointly develop breakthroughs for the transport of tomorrow.

Renault, Castrol join hands for aftersales engine oil lubricants in India

New Delhi, Jan 31 () Castrol India on Friday reported a 28.03 per cent increase in its profit after tax (PAT) at Rs 271.3 crore for the fourth quarter ended December 31, 2019.
 The automotive and industrial lubricant manufacturing had reported PAT of Rs 211.9 crore for the October-December period of 2018.
 Total income, however, declined to Rs 1,028 crore for the quarter from Rs 1,059 crore in the year-ago period, Castrol India said in a regulatory filing.
 For the year ended December 2019, the company posted a PAT of Rs 827.4 crore as compared to Rs 708.3 crore in 2018.
 Total income stood at Rs 3,941.6 crore for last year, compared with Rs 3,988.9 crore in 2018.
 The company follows a January-December financial year.
 "We delivered a resilient overall performance in 2019. Focused investments in our people, brands, distribution network, customer acquisition and advocacy efforts have helped us deliver on our strategic priorities enabling us to grow profits in a difficult business environment," Castrol India Managing Director Sandeep Sangwan said.
 The company's board recommended a final dividend of Rs 3 per share for financial year ended December 2019. This is in addition to an interim dividend of Rs 2.50 per share which was announced earlier.
 The final dividend, if approved by the shareholders of the company, shall be paid on or before May 27, 2020, the company said.
 Castrol shares on Friday ended 4.16 per cent higher at Rs 135.15 on the BSE. MSS ANS

Castrol India Q4 net profit rises 28 pc to Rs 271 cr

New Delhi, Mar 23 () Castrol India on Monday said it has decided to suspend operations in all its manufacturing plants with immediate effect until further notice due to spread of the coronavirus pandemic. The company has also mandated its employees to work from home, Castrol India said in a statement. The situation will be closely monitored and operations at the manufacturing plants will be resumed when the situation improves, it added. Similarly, auto components maker Amtek Auto said it has decided to suspend operations at all their offices and manufacturing locations in the country from March 23 to March 31 to ensure the safety of employees and contain the spread of the coronavirus outbreak. Engines maker Cummins India said that in view of the escalating COVID-19 situation and in compliance with government directives, the company has decided to temporarily close its offices and factory operations across Maharashtra and offices at other locations across India effective from March 23 till March 31. During the said temporary suspension, the operations and despatches are likely to be impacted, it added. MSS HRS

You need to have the engine hot to get the oil out. This leads to oil spurting out, which has to be caught, at everything from 100 Celsius to 200-300 Celsius.""It's time-consuming and not very efficient. Currently, 25% of the oil changed from regular cars is thrown away. Only 10% of the remaining amount gets refined. An even smaller amount is refined back to a virgin state - meaning a tiny amount of used oil from a car is reused.However, the Nexcel fuel cell allows the used oil to be refined back to its original state much more easily. That's because of the device the oil is contained in and an electronic component in the fuel cell used to segregate the elements of the oil. Once the container is taken out of the car, the oil can be drained, re-refined, and used again much more easily. Castrol estimates that if Nexcel were fitted onto every car in the world today, it would save more than 200,000 road tankers of virgin oil from being produced, annually.On top of that, the company says it makes vehicles a lot more fuel efficient because of the electronic element of the Nexcel.When cars are started, the engine is cold and the oil has to be heated up. However, due to the "electronic handshake," which gauges the minimum amount of oil needed to start the engine, it allows a car to start and get running without heating up an unnecessary amount of oil. Think of it like energy usage of boiling a full kettle of water for a single cup of tea - it's incredibly wasteful to fill up a whole kettle and to boil it for just this small amount.Currently, the Nexcel is only fitted in the £1.5 million ($2.3 million) supercar - the Aston Martin Vulcan. "We usually start off with a small manufacturer that has the economic agility to roll it out in a small number of cars. We then use this with the view to roll it out to mass production commercial production in 5 years time," said Taylor."However, we have tried out on smaller city cars and we knew that once we were able to do that with smaller cars, we knew we'd be confident in fitting this into mass production. We cant reveal exactly what cars we retro-fitted the Nexcel cell into but they were typical hatchbacks and saloons - regular commercial cars. We were able to do this and we're confident that this will lead to mass production."Taylor didn't reveal the current costs of implementing the Nexcel into vehicles but currently it would be rather pricey due to it being installed in only 24 Aston Martin Vulcan supercars. JM Financial maintains 'buy' call on real estate developer DLF

Gurugram, Jun 30 () The Hero Women's Indian Open golf tournament was on Tuesday cancelled in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. The tournament, co-sanctioned by the Ladies European Tour in 2010, was scheduled for October. It will now return to the Gary Player Course at DLF Golf and Country Club in Gurugram in October next year. The Ladies European Tour (LET) and Women's Golf Association of India (WGAI) said "keeping the health and safety as top priority" such a decision became necessary. "It was a very difficult decision, but the right one under the present circumstances of the ongoing pandemic. With no likelihood of any respite in the foreseeable future, safeguarding the health and well being of all players, officials and spectators is of paramount importance," WGAI President Kavita Singh said. "Together, with our sponsors, including DLF, Castrol and others, we hope to return next year with another stellar edition of the Hero Women's Indian Open in October, 2021." New Delhi, Jul 9 () Global energy supermajor BP plc and Reliance Industries Ltd on Thursday announced the start of their fuel retailing joint venture under the brand 'Jio-bp'. BP had last year bought 49 per cent stake in the 1,400-odd petrol pumps and 31 aviation turbine fuel (ATF) stations owned by Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) for USD 1 billion. The joint venture, where RIL holds the remaining 51 per cent, has now commenced operations. "Following initial agreements in 2019, bp and RIL teams have worked closely over the past few months in a challenging environment to complete the transaction as planned," the companies said in a joint statement, adding the new fuels and mobility joint venture, Reliance BP Mobility Ltd (RBML), has started operations. Operating under the 'Jio-bp' brand, the joint venture aims to become a leading player in India's fuels and mobility markets. RBML has received the marketing authorisation for transportation fuels, amongst other necessary regulatory and statutory approvals. The joint venture will begin selling fuels and Castrol lubricants with immediate effect from its existing retail outlets, which will be rebranded to 'Jio-bp' in due course. "It will leverage Reliance's presence across 21 states and its millions of consumers through the Jio digital platform. bp will bring its extensive global experience in high-quality differentiated fuels, lubricants, retail, and advanced low carbon mobility solutions," the statement said. India's auto fuel retailing is dominated by public sector oil companies that own the majority of 69,392 petrol pumps in the country. State-owned IOC, BPCL and HPCL own 62,072 petrol pumps and 224 out of the 256 aviation fuel stations in the country. BP and RIL said they expect the venture to grow rapidly to help meet India's fast-growing demands for energy and mobility. "India is expected to be the fastest-growing fuel market in the world over the next 20 years, with the number of passenger cars in the country estimated to grow almost six-fold over the period. RBML aims to expand from its current fuel retailing network of over 1,400 retail sites to up to 5,500 over the next five years," the statement said. This rapid growth will require a four-fold increase in staff employed in service stations -- growing from 20,000 to 80,000 in this period. The joint venture also aims to increase its presence from 30 to 45 airports in the coming years. RIL Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani said: "Reliance is expanding on its strong and valued partnership with bp, to establish a pan-Indian presence in retail and aviation fuels. RBML will aim to be a leader in mobility and low carbon solutions, bringing cleaner and affordable options for Indian consumers with digital and technology being our key enablers." Bernard Looney, BP chief executive officer, said India has been leading the way with innovations in digital technology, value engineering and new energy solutions.
