The minister said the government has always been conscious of these issues. Patel also underscored the importance of an effective communication strategy. "The task of achieving Viksit Bharat (developed India) by 2047 cannot be done without empowering our women. Healthy timing and spacing between pregnancies are very important for women's health," she said. Additional Secretary and Mission Director NHM at the health ministry, Aradhana Patnaik, highlighted that India has already achieved a total fertility rate (TFR) of two with 31 states and Union territories achieving the replacement level. There is a need for an effective strategy to bring the TFR under replacement level in the remaining five states, the minister said. Patel said that "we would be able to reach the last mile" by empowering the youth, addressing challenges of equal participation of men and women, increasing couple communication, learning from best practices, taking cues from current and historical trends in family planning data and expanding the contraceptive basket of choices. She also stressed on identifying and mapping regions, districts, and blocks with data of issues such as low uptake of <keyword id="22472930" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="family-planning-services" source="keywords">family planning services</keyword>, low demand for modern contraceptives and high unmet needs, and saturating them with services and enhanced social and behaviour change communication.

After the government announced note ban on November 8, <keyword id="6372077" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nasscom">Nasscom</keyword> put together a ‘<keyword id="4362431" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Cash-Mukt-Bharat-Abhiyan">Cash Mukt Bharat Abhiyan</keyword>’ helpline number 14444, which was launched on December 15 run by the best in the service business. 
 It was launched to answer queries on <keyword id="6358577" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Digital-Payments">digital payments</keyword> after <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/fashion-industry-is-facing-the-heat-of-note-ban-this-summer/articleshow/57790830.cms">demonetisation</a>, and was to remain free till March 31.

 Run by six bulge-bracket <keyword id="596325" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="BPO-companies">BPO companies</keyword> including TCS, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/tech-mahindra-to-acquire-u-s-healthcare-it-firm-for-110-million/articleshow/57508611.cms">Tech Mahindra</a>, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/For-all-the-super-talented-women-now-restart-your-career-with-Genpact/articleshow/47969966.cms">Genpact</a>, Intelenet Global Services, and Aegis, the fate of the helpline number is uncertain since the government has not yet announced whether or not it would be turned into a commercial service. 
 
Therefore, some companies have decided to end the run of this helpline tonight, while some will wait till April 15th to end this. 
 
The helpline made history by being the first case of private IT giants coming together to support the government without being paid. 
 
As per Prasanto Roy, head of Nasscom's Internet Council, the helpline received over 3 million calls, out of which agents answered nearly 300,000 calls. 
 
"We have also submitted a commercial proposal for the helpline, and are awaiting a response from NITI Aayog and the ministry of electronics and IT," he told ET. 
 
"If the government decides to continue the helpline, it would cost less than '40 crore a year," said an official in the know.

However, the government is sceptical about continuing the helpline since call volumes have dropped drastically after the initial surge.

 “Since the <keyword id="6383340" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="National-Payments-Corporation-of-India">National Payments Corporation of India</keyword> (NPCI) is handling all the retail payments, it is up to it to decide whether it requires such a helpline. We have written to NPCI and it will take a final call on this,“ said an official at the ministry of electronics and IT. 
 
There is also some confusion pertaining to the end date of the free service. While some operators are planning to down the shutters on the service by March-end, some have put a deadline of April 15.

<keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword>'s END <keyword id="80490" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="tuberculosis" source="Orion">Tuberculosis</keyword> (TB) programme, that is committed to making India Tuberculosis-free by 2025, five years ahead of the global target of 2030, is an ambitious goal, a herculean task, but certainly achievable, said experts on <keyword id="599318" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="world-tb-day" source="Orion">World TB day</keyword>. <keyword id="599498" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="world-tuberculosis-day" source="Orion">World Tuberculosis Day</keyword> is observed every year on March 24. "Yes! We can end TB!" is the theme for this year, and urges leaders from around the world to act to stop the TB epidemic.A India has about 3.1 million tuberculosis patients and approximately 2,000 patients are diagnosed with TB yearly. The Pradhan Mantri's TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan "is a very ambitious goal" and India is facing a "herculean task" to keep up with its commitment, Dr Vishal Rao, Fellow at Royal Society of Medicine (London), and Director at head neck surgical oncology department at HealthCare Global Cancer Centre, told IANS. "For TB to be eliminated, there should be less than one case for every 1 million in the country. Today, at the current rate, we are seeing a decline in the incidence of TB of 1.5 per cent, which needs to accelerate to more than 15 per cent each year. So, we have a very daunting task with us at hand, and with only two years left the decline rate of TB cases needs to go much higher," said Rao, who is also part of a consultative group to the Principal Scientific Advisor to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "In my opinion, Prime Minister Modi's call to END TB by 2025 is outstanding. And I think it is achievable. One is the fact that we already see a lot of cases being notified from India. And a lot of push to work on prevention, which for sure will lead to a decrease in incidence and we already have noticed that," Dr. Lucica Ditiu, Executive Director, Stop TB Partnership, told IANS. She said that India has shown a lot of acepolitical commitment" which has resulted in providing nutritional support to people with TB, updated data to see how many people with the disease were found, diagnosed and treated up till yesterday. One of the major challenges ahead of India is that more than half of the TB cases do not get detected, Rao said. For this, he suggested strengthening peripheral Primary Health Centre (PHC) programmes focusing on detecting TB and stronger mass media campaigns that would raise awareness, and allocate more funds to the National TB Elimination Programme for improved manpower, awareness campaigns, counselling, and detection.A Another challenge is high <keyword id="9165761" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="tobacco-usage" source="Orion">tobacco usage</keyword> in the country, which is an omnipresent yet preventable risk. More than 20 per cent of global TB cases and 40 per cent of Indian cases can be attributed to tobacco usage. Rao suggested implementing stringent policies to counter the tobacco industry, reduce the prevalence of tobacco consumption especially, among the youth; protect lung health by strengthening tobacco control programmes, especially smoke-free policies. He also stressed the need to promote healthy lifestyle practices, and make the youth aware of the harmful effects of tobacco; and adopting innovative measures, increased action, and multi-sector collaborations to control tobacco use and fight TB. "I think India will achieve the goal to end TB" because of its approach of "going at a very granular and peripheral level", Ditiu said. However, access should be secured for every single person. A decentralised approach is needed to ensure access to everyone even at the village level, she suggested. The country also needs to "maintain the political pressure, and then the financial resources to do this because the investments needed for this will be very huge and should be sustained". "It's not that you have a jump in 2024. And then you are relaxed. Basically, we have two more years for India to push on this up to the end of 2025. World Tuberculosis Day: India's goal to be Tuberculosis-free by 2025 ambitious but achievable, say experts

After a TV channel and a website to promote digital payments, a nationwide toll-free helpline number '14444' will be launched soon to educate people and provide support related to cashless mode of transactions. 
 According to a <keyword id="6367495" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="PTI">PTI</keyword> report, the service is expected to be operational within a week. 
 "Government had sought <keyword id="6372077" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nasscom">Nasscom</keyword>'s help in providing support on a mass scale to people. We had requested a single nationwide helpline should be set up which now assigned by the DoT which is 14444. We are putting call centre support at the back-end. It is fairly advance stage of operation," IT body Nasscom President <keyword id="651983" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="R-Chandrashekar">R Chandrashekar</keyword> told the agency. 
 "It is awareness with intention of conversion in actual transaction. It is to help people at the first level to zero in on the option most suitable for them that depends on person whether he has feature phone or not, Aadhaar number or not, bank account so many combination need to be seen," <keyword id="146425" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Chandrashekhar">Chandrashekhar</keyword> added. 
 To educate people on digital transactions, <keyword id="3524863" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="ministry-of-electronics">Ministry of Electronics</keyword> and IT on Friday launched free-to-air channel DigiShala which will be available on Doordarshan's DTH platform and 'CashlessIndia' website to educate people about digital transactions. 
 As per IT and Law Minister <keyword id="6354886" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ravi-Shankar-Prasad">Ravi Shankar Prasad</keyword>, digital payments have increased in the range of 400 to 1,000 per cent since November 8 after scrapping of old Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes. 
 
When asked about timelines for operationalising Cash Mukt Bharat Abhiyan Helpine number, Chandrashekhar said, "We are hoping that before the end of next week, it will be available." 
 
He said that once people will start using a particular methodology then helpline of particular digital payment service provider will also be made available through the helpline.

There was an appreciable improvement in the performance of manufacturing, witnessed with an arrest of the declining Index of Industrial Production (IIP) from -57.3% in April’20 to +0.2% in Sep’20. Drop in unemployment rate from 23.7% at its peak in April’20 to 6.7% in Sep’20. Some of the macro variables still reflect the overall economic scenario with inflation rate continuing to rise and the Consumer Confidence Index (RBI) dropping to a low 49.9 in Sep’20 from a 85.6 in March’20 The above-mentioned positivity was reflected in the FMCG industry too. Using proprietary Nielsen Retail Audit data, this note will further delve into the trends of Q3’20 and the outlook for 2020: FMCG INDUSTRY MOVES INTO A POSITIVE GROWTH SPACE The FMCG slowdown in Q2’20 saw a value decline of 19% as compared to the same period of 2019. This was fueled by massive disruptions in the production and supply chain, and low consumer confidence. The unlock from Q3’20, saw a revival in the industry with a growth of 1.6% versus a year ago. The revival was aided by businesses opening up with the pandemic reaching stable levels. Markets started opening up in a phase-wise manner and store closures came down to an average of 3 days a month in Q3’20 from an average of 9 days a month in Q2’20. After being cooped at home for a long time, consumers also started looking at resuming normal consumption levels. The rural markets have bounced back handsomely on the back of support provided by the government as well as good agriculture, reverse migration and a lower unemployment rate. Various favorable macro-environment factors have helped drive rural revival in Q3’20 <ol><li>Government dialing up on rural stimulus in the form of increased MGNREGA allocation- <ol><li>11% increase in average wages at an All India level (Sep vs Mar’20).</li><li>83L new households joined MGNREGA labour force </li></ol></li><li>'Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyan’, support to agriculture and upskilling programs for migrant workers that returned to their villages.</li><li>A bountiful <a href="https://www.livemint.com/topic/indian-monsoon">monsoon </a>also brought cheer to farmers with a record output in the kharif crop season. </li></ol> HEALTH &amp; HYGIENE DOMINATES THE NEW LAUNCHES There have been a higher number of new launches per se during the Covid period and a higher number in the non-foods space. As Covid has prompted consumers to re-frame their habits into health and hygiene, more new launches have been made in the health &amp; hygiene basket including categories like hand sanitisers, floor cleaners, toilet cleaners, antiseptic liquids. New launches in the health &amp; hygiene space contributed to 37% (in value) of all new launches in the COVID period. The value contribution of new launches in the health &amp; hygiene category was higher during Covid period at 2.9% OUTLOOK 2020 (Including Traditional Trade, Modern Trade and E-Commerce) After the FMCG industry had a double digit drop in Q2’20 due to intense lockdown stressing the overall economy, it bounced back to positive +1.6% growth in Q3’20 which reflects the onset of green shoots. While the market has initiated a recovery, the demand and supply disruptions caused by the world’s severest lockdown from end-March have severely curtailed economic activity. It is gradually returning to normal as restrictions are relaxed. However, continued spread of the pandemic is keeping the economy watchful. Given the significant headwind built in the start of COVID-19 pandemic in March’20, <keyword id="10336754" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nielsen-forecast">Nielsen forecast</keyword> for 2020 to remain in the negative single digit (-3% to -1%). Credit for all these facilities is being provided under Mudra Scheme. The progression to E Rickshaw from pedal rickshaw will also help contribute towards achieving the goals of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. “In addition, the customers will also be able to book E Rickshaw through Ola mobile apps and make digital payment via FreeCharge, which will be integrated under PM Modi's Digital India initiative”, said Shantanu Gupta, Advisor to BMC. 
 
As part of their on-going initiative BMC will distribute 5,100 E-Rickshaws at the event. FreeCharge will be setting up training for all these drivers via BMC to help them understand how to use FreeCharge app and accept payments. FreeCharge will also create an exclusive incentive plan for all the E-Rickshaw drivers to encourage them to use digital payments to pay for services like mobile recharges, electricity bill payments etc.
