This will pit Carnival in direct competition with the likes of Jubilant Foodworks, which operates the Domino's pizza outlets, and Westlife Development, the franchisee for McDonald’s in West and South India.<br /><br />The group’s cinema business, with 470 screens across 120 cities in India, fell at least 40-50% between January to March 2020 as compared to last year. This was before the lockdown could take its full toll on the business. <br /><br />Hence, the pivot to cloud kitchens. “Food is and always will be a huge industry. We understand the current scenario of COVID-19 pandemic is not very favorable for many existing restaurants and hotels. There is a huge potential in the cloud kitchen segment and that too when we have a strong network of around 150 plus theatres in over 120 cities across India so we don’t need to invest in the biggest expense traditional restaurants deal with: real estate costs, Dr Shrikant Bhasi, Founder and Chairman said.<br /><br />The group has already started operations at nine locations in five states including Huma Kanjur Marg in Mumbai, Green Field and Kariyad in Kerala, Bengaluru and Belgaum in Karnataka, Nasrani Jodhpur, Galaxy Jaipur in Rajasthan, Allahabad and Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. <br /><br />Eight more outlets are set to open in Mumbai and Pune in the next three months<br /><br />The group is aiming to register gross annual sales worth ₹500 crore with this new operation. “One of the major points of the cinema location is that they are at prime locations in the city in all tier-I, tier-II, tier-III cities. INOX, which has 624 screens in 68 cities too is confident about their growth as the lockdown lifts. <br /><br />But the investors do not share their confidence. PVR has witnessed a 43% decline in its decline in the last one month. Whereas the share price of INOX saw a 39% fall between February 18 and March 18. <br /><br />

Cinema halls lose ₹150 crore a week with lockdowns and delayed releases

<ul class="summary-list"><li>Damien Chazelle's "Babylon" stars Margot Robbie, Diego Calva, Brad Pitt, and Jean Smart.</li><li>The entire cast gives their all in this visually stunning movie set in 1920s Hollywood.</li></ul><p>Director Damien Chazelle has returned to the big screen after four years with his love letter to the golden era of Hollywood set at the time when silent movies transitioned to using sound.</p><p>Although it feels like a much more extravagant beast than Chazelle's previous movies, it doesn't quite live up to the hype of "<a href="https://www.insider.com/drummer-rates-seven-drumming-scenes-in-movies-and-tv-2022-9">Whiplash</a>" or "<a href="https://www.insider.com/la-la-land-musical-references-2017-2">La La Land.</a>"</p><p>Chazelle once again looks at ambition, greed, and hubris through the Hollywood lens with a sprawling cast that ultimately delivers a riotous performance in this overstuffed story.</p><p>That being said, it's still an utterly stunning jaunt through the era, as <a href="https://www.insider.com/margot-robbie-fame-wolf-of-wall-street-pretty-awful-2022-11">Margot Robbie</a>'s Nellie LaRoy parties her way to stardom and Diego Calva's Manny Torres marvels at the beauty of cinema. </p><h2>'Babylon' showcases the ecstatic highs of Hollywood, as well as the crushing lows</h2><div type="image" title="Margot Robbie as Nellie LaRoy and Diego Calva as Manny Torres in &quot;Babylon.&quot;" height="1333" width="1778" msid="96275293" hostid="261" sizebytes="350266"></div><p>The film's opening throws audiences into a rip-roaring party that feels wildly frenetic, barely giving the viewer time to breathe as they take in the absurd carnival of chaos unfolding on screen, whether it's the copious amount of drugs, the giant elephant thundering through the house, or the sex workers upstairs catering to the grim fantasies of the rich and famous.</p><p>Robbie brings that same unhinged energy to her performance as Nellie. She revels in being a free spirit, which begins to get tiresome for the audience when she keeps making all the wrong choices. But she's undeniably entertaining, and the character is destined for memes (especially given one spit-take-inducing line about "sticking some cocaine up my pussy").</p><p>Her lively nature works perfectly in tandem with Manny, who sees the pure beauty in the power of cinema. It's an unsubtle nod to exploitation in Hollywood, spitting out would-be stars with no hesitation when they start to decline.</p><p>In addition to following Nellie as her addiction to drugs and gambling threatens her success and Manny as he climbs the studio ladder, "Babylon" also tells the story of Jack Conrad (Brad Pitt), a silent film star who can't seem to find success in sound pictures, and faces the possibility that he just isn't cut out for the industry anymore.</p><p>The story, written by Chazelle, is about ambition, greed, and love — but it's also simply way too long.</p><h2>Comedy and a dose of horror can't save the lengthy runtime</h2><div type="image" title="Brad Pitt as Jack Conrad and Diego Calva as Manny Torres in &quot;Babylon.&quot;" height="421" width="562" msid="96275294" hostid="261" sizebytes="12400"></div><p>The movie is blisteringly funny in places, with dashes of slapstick that work well amid the (slightly overwhelming) mayhem. But even the surprisingly gooey moments of comedy can't stop "Babylon" from feeling overblown and plodding.</p><p>That weighty runtime of three hours and eight minutes gets in the way, even though all of these individual stories are brilliantly told. Together they just pull the film in too many different directions, which gets irritating.</p><p>Chazelle does deliver a genuinely haunting sequence in the third act which just about saves the film from dragging itself over the finish line, but it feels tacked on to shake the audience awake ahead of the emotional ending. </p><p>As Jean Smart's sharp-tongued critic Elinor St. John tells Jack, actors will be forever immortalized as "angels and ghosts." It's definitely the other side of the coin to "La La Land," but it feels alive in a whiskey-drinking, cocaine-snorting, monologue-aggrandizing way that Chazelle's previous work doesn't.</p><p>That's partly down to how fast-paced a lot of the scenes are, but <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/score-of-golden-globe-winning-first-man-explained-by-justin-hurwitz-2019-1?r=US&amp;IR=T">Justin Hurwitz</a>'s pounding score has a big part to play too. 2011, but now there's an entire park for kids to enjoy. </p><p>I had a chance to visit the park before its grand opening on February 24, and I could tell right away that it's a great spot for rides</a>: Daddy Pig's Roller Coaster, Peppa Pig's Balloon Ride, Grandad Dog's Pirate Boat Ride, Grampy Rabbit's Dinosaur Adventure, Mr. Bull's High Striker, and Peppa's Pedal Bike Tour.</p><p>Parents can also accompany their kids on the rides. </p><h2><strong>Daddy Pig's Roller Coaster is designed to be a child's first thrill ride</strong></h2><p><strong></strong></p><div type="image" title="shot per hour and heights of 14 feet.</p><p>The ride's line also takes guests through a life-size version of Peppa's house, which is fun for fans of the show. </p><div type="image" title="shot of Daddy prehistoric trail on the back of a dinosaur. </p><p>As you're making your way around the course, the dinosaurs bounce up and down, mimicking the motions of riding a horse. </p><p>This was my favorite ride of the day, topping even the big coaster. </p><h2><strong>There are also several themed play areas throughout the park</strong></h2><p><strong></strong></p><div type="image" title="the colorful Mumbai, Apr 5 () The Multiplex Association of India (MAI) has appealed to landlords across the country to waive off rent and common area maintenance (CAM) for all the multiplex operators during the period of the current nation-wide lockdown.<p>India is currently under the lockdown with around 1.3 billion people asked to stay home in view of the coronavirus outbreak.</p><p>Formed under the aegis of FICCI in 2000, the national multiplex trade body represents more than 18 regional and national multiplex chains, including PVR, INOX, Carnival and Cinepolis, and operates more than 2900 screens across the country. </p><p>In a statement released by the MAI, its President Deepak Asher said due to the shutdown, "our Industry is going through an unprecedented crisis that threatens our very existence."</p><p>"As compared to some other businesses, which have seen a revenue drop, multiplex revenues have overnight become zero. This has put us in a very grim situation as we struggle to meet our commitments to pay our staff salaries on time and meet our fixed overheads," the statement read.</p><p>The association said, with with zero revenues, they have "virtually no ability to pay any rent or CAM dues or meet our other fixed overheads."</p><p>"While the lockdown may continue for the next month or two, the cinema industry will take several months ('recuperating period') even after the lockdown is lifted, to get back to its feet, as the pipeline of content begins to flow again, and our patrons gain the confidence to step out of their homes and start  visiting crowded places like cinemas. </p><p>"We will be unable to survive as an industry through this period of lockdown and recuperating, without your support. We seek your support in granting us complete waiver from payment of rent &amp; CAM dues during the lock down and recuperating period, to help us tide over this unprecedented situation which is completely beyond our control," the statement added. </p>The association said they are seeing a "temporary relief" to ensure that cinema industry does not die an "instant death" leaving a significant impact on shopping malls across the country.
