Highly influenced by the reform agenda of the new government to revitalise the economic growth, Foreign Institutional Investors (<keyword id="6368141" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="FIIS">FIIs</keyword>) have poured in a whopping Rs. 17,000 crore in the <keyword id="886139" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Indian-capital-market">Indian capital market</keyword> since the beginning of this month. 
 As per the latest official data, net <keyword id="6362476" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="investments">investments</keyword> by overseas investors in the <keyword id="44794" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Equity-market">equity market</keyword> were Rs 6,665 crore ($1.1 billion) from September 1 to 12, while they infused a net amount of Rs 10,432 crore ($1.72 billion) in the debt market during the period, taking the total to Rs 17,098 crore ($2.8 billion). 
 
Market analysts anticipate that inflows would continue in the coming months on a slew of measures announced by the government. 
 
Since the beginning of the year, foreign investors have made a net investment of Rs 1.98 lakh crore ($33 billion) into the country's securities market. 
 in nearly 22 years, strong inflows in the recent months have taken the cumulative net investments of FIIs, the main driver of the <keyword id="444236" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Indian-equity-market">Indian equity market</keyword>, to Rs 9.88 lakh crore ($204 billion). This is based on the data since November 1992 when the FIIs began investing into Indian markets and includes about $160 billion investments into <keyword id="45369" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="equities">equities</keyword> and about $44 billion in debt markets.

Opportunities, in that case, abounded.Now, however, things are very different. Because central banks around the world have kept interest rates at or near zero for so long, asset prices have inflated while real economic growth has remained anemic. Value is increasingly hard to find.So as investors search desperately to find it, we have what Litinsky described as a "Venezuela" in capital markets:<div title="Page 3">"When people think about inflation, they often envision a situation like Venezuela, where there are skyrocketing prices and severe shortages of basic goods and services. This is a garden variety inflation example of too much money chasing too few goods that leads to spiraling prices. The chaos caused is very obvious.Global Central Banks have given us another kind of inflation, currently isolated to financial assets. They have printed so much money and so severely manipulated market prices (via an extreme floor on bond prices) such that there is a "Venezuela" happening in the capital markets. Think of it as chaos in the streets for money people who are "searching for yield" or lining up to find the assets they need. Clearly, a financial asset shortage is not as dire as a real goods shortage like Venezuela. We do not consume our bonds like rice, packaged soup or toilet paper. Yet, it is nai¨ve to think that there will not be dramatic long-term societal consequences." What are these "long-term societal consequences"? Low rates have been, in part, a fiscal solution where a political one was and is more necessary. They are a symptom of the world political class's abdication of responsibility. They help to explain why so many people around the world desperately want change.It's where you get your Donald Trumps, your Brexits, your far-right this and your far-left that. It's where you get into a world of "unknown, unknowns."<h2>There will be blood</h2>In the meantime, there will be crowding. That crowding will lead to some interesting circumstances. Back in May billionaire money manager Steve Cohen of Point 72 Asset Management said it was what blew a hole in his portfolio earlier this year."One of my biggest worries is that there are so many players out there trying to do the same strategies ... if one big one goes down, will we take collateral damage?" Cohen said at the Milken Institute Global Conference in Los Angeles. "We were down 8% in February and for us that's a lot ... my worst fears were realized."That's one thing. Another one is whatever crash occurs when rates rise and asset prices fall.Last October, Litinsky presented his vision of what would happen at the Grant's Interest Rate Observer conference in New York City. <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/wall-street-worried-about-conglomerates-2015-11">He hypothesized</a> that all of the companies that had taken advantage of low interest rates and piled into debt in order to grow into massive conglomerates over the last few years would get punished.Of course, who knows when that's going to happen.<div title="Page 4">"No one knows whether this environment will last for another decade or if investor psychology will reverse tomorrow," Litinsky wrote in his letter. "One truth is very clear to me. There's a shakeup in the works at the top of RBC Capital Markets

Following a board meeting on 21 June, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (<keyword id="35210" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="sebi">SEBI</keyword>) <a href="https://www.sebi.gov.in/media/press-releases/jun-2018/sebi-board-meeting_39324.html">unveiled a number of changes </a>in the country’s initial public offering (<keyword id="6354763" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="ipo">IPO</keyword>) rules as well as <keyword id="56788" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Governance">governance</keyword> norms. The move by the <keyword id="6544108" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Capital-markets">capital markets</keyword> regulator was part of a concerted effort to make the IPO process easier and in alignment with the rules in other countries. The updated rules will be included in the recent Companies Act of 2014. They were based on the recommendations of panel of market experts led by Prithvi Haldea, the founder of the country’s first database on primary capital markets. Here are the major changes that SEBI made:- <ul><li>Companies looking to go public will only be required to provide financial accounts and <keyword id="49224" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="20" keywordseo="Disclosure">disclosure</keyword>s for the three years prior to the issue, as opposed to five years, in line with international norms. The disclosure process will also be made less cumbersome as companies will only be required to submit their consolidated financial statements instead of both the standalone statements for group companies and the consolidated statements of the parent company. </li></ul><ul><li>The pricing band, or the envisioned share price, for a company’s rights offering can be made public two days prior to the IPO instead of five days earlier. This will help prevent wide deviations from the price band owing to market volatility.</li></ul><ul><li>The category of anchor investors, or institutional investors taking a large portion of shares in the offering, has been expanded to include mutual funds, insurers and venture capital funds in addition to investment banks. As a result, they can fill in for a shortfall in the contribution of a promoter if needed. Furthermore, to qualify as an anchor investor for the IPO of a small-and-medium-sized enterprises, a fund can invest a minimum of ₹20 million instead of ₹100 million.</li></ul>The regulator did, however, impose a few restrictions to prevent any fraud or tax evasion through IPOs. It expanded the definition of “promoter groups” to include immediate family members and relatives, and lowered the shareholding threshold for being categorised as a promoter group from 20% to 10%. Promoters are subject to higher regulatory scrutiny than public shareholders. Another strong year for IPOs? The new rules will likely encourage more companies to go public and tap capital markets for funds. In terms of IPOs, India had a solid 2017, with 38 offerings raising over ₹750 billion - nearly a threefold jump from 2016. However, the IPO market has been muted so far in 2018 in terms of deal value amid a deterioration in India’s macroeconomic fundamentals. While there have been 17 IPOs, they have only raised ₹221 billion. Ernst and Young, a consultancy, forecasts that the amount raised for the year will total around <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/news/business/ipo/ipos-to-raise-rs-35000-cr-in-2018-report-2614041.html">₹350 billion,</a> but the new rules could prove to be the boost the IPO market needs.

India’s market regulator has made the IPO process easier for companies

One of the reasons the renminbi hasn't become a truly international currency is because of the nation's capital controls. 
This refers to restrictions on the flow of capital in the form of (cash, stock, foreign direct investment and so on). But in a new Standard Chartered report titled <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/what-the-renminbi-will-look-like-in-2020-2013-11">"The Renminbi's 2020 odyssey,"</a> Becky Liu and her team write that they expect "<keyword id="1334" type="COUNTRY" weightage="60" keywordseo="China">China</keyword>'s <keyword id="1623579" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Capital-account">capital account</keyword> to be basically open by 2020."

The Future Of China's Capital Markets In One Big Slide

New Delhi, Dec 12 () Sebi on Thursday barred Research Infotech proprietor Jasmeet Kaur Bagga from accessing the capital market and involving in investment advisory services, after the regulator's prima facie finding that she made commitments for assured profit.
 The markets regulator received complaints through the SCORES portal against Capproin Financial Advisory Services, which is allegedly engaged in unregistered investment advisory activities. Bagga, who is proprietor of Research Infotech, is also one of the partners of Capproin.
 A Sebi probe found that Bagga had carried out unregistered investment advisory activities from March 2013 to September 2015 before obtaining registration (registration granted on October 30, 2015).
 Bagga while applying for registration as an investment advisor through the proprietorship Research Infotech prima facie submitted false and misleading information to the regulator stating that she was not engaged in investment advisory services prior to making the application, it added.
 Sebi said it prima facie appears to be making assured profit commitment and extracting more and more money from its clients by putting strict deadlines for making payments, refusing to provide any services in the event of delay, upgrading/changing from one package to another and engaging in unethical practices like charging various types of non-transparent fees, among others.
 By indulging in such activities, Bagga violated the provisions of investment adviser regulations and the PFUTP (Prohibition of Fraudulent and Unfair Trade Practices) norms.
 Accordingly, the regulator in its interim order has barred Bagga from acting as an investment advisor. Besides, it prohibited her from accessing the securities market until further orders.
 In addition, it asked Bagga "not to divert any funds raised from investors, kept in bank account(s) and/or in their custody until further order". SP HRS

New Delhi, Feb 15 () Review of compliance obligations required by market intermediaries and participants for trading in stock markets will help in enabling the ease of doing business in capital markets, according to a report released on Saturday. Currently, trading in stock markets require market intermediaries and participants to fulfil a number of compliance requirements. The review of compliances will reduce the cumbersome paper work for retail investors, encourage broader participation and democratise prosperity and make Indian markets attractive to global investors. In addition, it will enable market intermediaries to focus on serving customers and growing their businesses and also help in unlocking the potential value for listed companies. "Due to rapid innovation and development, there is a scope for review and reconsideration of several requirements that effectively do not add significant value to the markets or market participants," Association of National Exchanges Members of India (ANMI) President Vijay Bhushan said at the launch of executive summary of Compliance Review Report 2020. This was launched by Minister of State for Finance Anurag Thakur. The report is aimed at ensuring ease of trading by reviewing all compliance requirements to trade in stock markets on the basis of four criteria -- addressing outdated and duplicate compliances, clarity on conflict compliances and bringing rationale to compliance system. It has been prepared after the finance ministry, through a communication to markets regulator Sebi, advised to submit a "comprehensive review of compliance requirements" via national exchanges and ANMI. "The report marks the beginning of roll-out of a series of reforms and is in accordance with the vision of Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) to bring about greater ease of doing business, which is now being extended to the capital markets. Review of compliance will encourage participation from domestic and global investors to trade on Indian capital market," Bhushan said. "The reform agenda should include providing a level-playing field to Indian capital markets by way of optimising the cost of transactions in line with other global financial markets," he added. With regard to outdated compliances, the report said requirement of uploading peak funding details to exchanges and reporting of order limits in the capital market segment should be done away with. In respect of compliance duplication, the report said registration under Central Know Your Customer (CKYC) and KYC Registration Agency (KRA) should not be allowed to run simultaneously, and one of them should be discontinued. It further said that instead of uploading same documents with multiple exchanges, a common filing with the clearing corporation that clears the trades of brokers across multiple exchanges should be allowed. According to the report, certain conflicting compliances including linking of Aadhaar and mobile numbers of individual clients needs to addressed. "It is not mandatory for an investor to link his Aadhaar with his mobile number. In such cases, the investor cannot avail e-KYC and it becomes necessary to do an in-person verification. Therefore, e-KYC facility needs to be provided in such cases as well," the report noted. SP HRS

"We're putting our employees' health first, and so we don't have a date that we are officially opening," she added, noting that the firm is closely monitoring data about the spread of the virus to inform its decisions on a possible timeline for returning to work.Looking forward, she said, the new RBC U.S. Kids Club may be here to stay — at least through the eventual conclusion of the pandemic.In the meantime, she noted, RBC has circulated internal resources among its staff to promote mental well-being during a time of remote work, from making counselors available to speak with employees, to sharing special podcasts that the firm produced on topics like resilience.
